  • Children Voicing Children: Despite being a Crossdressing Voice, Kristin Fairlie really was just 10 years old when she began voicing Little Bear. Jennifer Martini (Emily) and Ashley Taylor (Mitzi) were also preteen girls. Amos Crawley (Owl) was also just 14 at the start of the series (evident by the fact that just a year earlier he had voiced Arnold on The Magic School Bus, and had sounded nothing like he does as Owl), although Owl's age is vague.
  • Crossdressing Voices: Kristin Fairlie as the voice of the eponymous character.
  • Kids' Meal Toy: In 1999, Subway released a set of five toys based on Nick Jr. shows. Besides the figures based on Blue's Clues, Kipper and Maisy and a cloth of Face, there was a figure of Little Bear as Sherlock Bear wearing a deerstalker and holding a magnifying glass.
  • Only So Many Canadian Actors: A lot of voice actors on this show are well-known for appearing in many other Canadian animated series or other media, particularly Nelvana series, such as Amos Crawley and Elizabeth Hanna.
  • Repeating Ad: The 2004 commercial for Orajel's kids' training toothpaste that was based on this show was so frequently played on morning programming across various channels that mothers with young children would watch (such as the syndicated talk show programming shown by networks like ABC and CBS or preschool blocks like Nick Jr.) and ran until 2012. It was shown so frequently that it even appeared on programs that were not targeted to the commercial's demographic, like The Daily Show.
  • So My Kids Can Watch: Sean McCann's role as Grandfather Bear is this, as he had just become a grandfather around the time the show aired.
