Trivia / Carlito Colón

Go To

  • Ascended Fan Nickname: "Bodyguylito" eventually became official.
  • Executive Meddling: WWE were known for pulling Carly off shows, even if they had nothing for him to do, or otherwise complaining until WWC changed his card position or switched his opponent. Carlito's match with Abyss happened seven years late, for example.
  • Playing Against Type:
    • He had never been a heel prior to OVW. After he had, he hated being a baby face since he did not think the character he developed deserved to be rewarded with positive feedback. After leaving WWE and no longer being a heavily scripted "character" he's since developed his gimmick to the point he does not hate being a baby face anymore but still prefers not to be.
    • The way he's presented in AAA is closer more to his pre OVW persona than anything that's come since.
  • Real Life Writes the Plot: Carlito lost the WWE United States Title back to John Cena because he needed to take time off for an injury. He was not removed from WWE television but he did not do any wrestling for months, the onscreen explanation being "punishment" from SmackDown General Manager Theodore Long.
  • Real Song Theme Tune
    • El que lo hereda no lo hurta by Los Hijos de los Celebres & Apollo Sound in WWC
    • Played for Laughs in Lucha Libre USA and IGF, which gave him Nickleback's Burn It To The Ground, aka the theme song of Monday Night Raw.
    • OVW gave him Tony's Theme from the Scarface (1983) soundtrack
    • Rompe by Daddy Yankee in AAA
  • What Could Have Been
    • He was made into a Gorgeous George in OVW because WWE wanted a tag team partner for Rico Constantino. But Rico got injured so this was abandoned.
    • The Thunda In Guyana of International Championship Wrestling usually feature independent wrestlers around the Caribbean but the one announced for May of 2017 was pushed back to July in order to get Carlito and several other "bigger superstars in the wrestling fraternity" including Ryback, Tyrus, Al Snow, Tommy Dreamer and Bobby Lashley.
