• Broken Base: Despite what The Sun would have you believe, there were WWC fans who were happy Carly signed with WWE. Even after he turned heel in OVW and WWC ran a video package of him being an utter dick to everyone up to and including his own brother and sister, half the WWC crowds still initially cheered Carly when he first returned. As said on the main page, his returns were eventually met with standing ovations.
• Germans Love David Hasselhoff: For a guy who doesn't wrestle there, the king of Puerto Rico is quite loved by Cubans, albeit not to the extent of his father was.
• Hilarious in Hindsight: His promo about hoping how Sheamus beats John Cena even though he doesn't even like Sheamus because no one likes John Cena. Carlito later went on record to say that he and Cena were friends, and this was after they had supposedly gotten drunk and fought each other off camera, which would mean they would have to be pretty good friends. Apparently they fought because Cena was trying to get Carly a push.
• Just Here for Godzilla: Some people declared WWC dead in 2003 when he left for WWE, as at that point most who had not jumped ship for IWA were only watching because Carly was still around. This is likely why Jim Cornette let Carly make a few brief returns to WWC (that and he and Danny Davis knew the importance of going places to get experience and could use a good relationship to establish another place to send wrestlers to)
• Misblamed: He was accused of no showing the January 2021 "Legends Night" of Monday Night Raw. WWE had in fact announced Carlito for the show without actually booking him, only considering him, forgetting to remove his from the list of those that were decided on and confirmed their availability.
• Never Live It Down
  • The company his father helped found, WWC, employed José González a.k.a. Invader #1, who killed Bruiser Brody with a knife in 1988. At best, it was an overreaction in self defense (before wrestling was really exposed it wasn't uncommon for wrestlers to conceal weapons, as Harley Race, Jim Cornette, John "Bradshaw" Layfield and New Jack will tell you). At worst, it was a premeditated murder arranged by Carlito's father (a poorly setup one since it occurred in an arena with thousands of people while law enforcement was on standby, but a common accusation all the same). Either way, González killed a man and was only punished in an angle (an angle where his opponent Manny Fernandez was the bad guy). The court case against him was thrown out for insufficient evidence even though there were at least two witnesses the prosecution neglected to call (González likely would have gotten sentenced with involuntary manslaughter at minimum). Carlos testified that González was defending himself and WWC had a hard time getting talent from the continental US and Japan for four decades as a result, both because of protests and fear. WWC also lost a WWF developmental deal to the IWA, who got big enough to almost put WWC out of business and in fact would have if not for IWA Japan owner Victor Quiñones loaning WWC money (Quiñones, incidentally, had called the ambulance on the radio when learning of Brody's stabbing and seeing that they were having trouble getting into the arena). Now with all that in mind, WWC, which Carlito took partial ownership of in 2010, brought González back through 2011 to 2013, ensuring the controversy will be around for years to come.
  • The ever classy WWE ran an angle where Carlito hired a thug to stab John Cena. Thankfully a lot of fans and a lot of the wrestlers did not make any connection (at least until it was inducted into WrestleCrap). Kurt Angle didn't know it was an angle at first and thought someone really beat up Cena.
