The Adventures of Peaches and Mandy is a fanfic written by marmalado. The first story in the TAoPaM 'Verse, it is a crossover between Odd Squad and My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and is set in an Alternate Universe where both shows' worlds are connected and ponies live and exist alongside humans on Earth.

While searching for the person who razed her hometown, a Cat Girl named Peaches runs into Agent Mandy, a Half-Human Hybrid Odd Squad agent who is believed to be the culprit. However, Peaches ends up getting much more than she bargained for, as not only is Mandy not the culprit, but she recognizes her as her cousin. Despite this revelation, Mandy is intent on making her new friend warm up to her, which she eventually does in spite of their contrasting personalities. Along with Olive, Otto, Oprah and the Mane Six, the two girls manage their way through life in Odd Squad, all while dealing with the organization's Rogues Gallery, Vallea's powerhungry megalomaniac King Ashero, and Mandy's true origins.

The story is meant to emulate a season of a TV show of the same name, with chapters titled accordingly. The first season may be read here.

This fanfiction contains examples of:

  • Action Duo: A majority of Odd Squad agents are this when they work together as partners. Although Peaches isn't an Odd Squad agent, she and Mandy also qualify, as both have fought together on a few occasions.
  • Adaptational Diversity: A Half-Human Hybrid and a Cat Girl serve as the story's main characters, compared to the main cast of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic being ponies and the main cast of Odd Squad being humans.
  • Adaptational Location Change: Olive and Otto's precinct, which was hinted at being in "the next town over" but was never expanded on, is one of the main locations of the story, and is often where Mandy goes to seek advice from Olive and Otto or to unwind.
  • Adaptational Personality Change:
    • In Odd Squad, Olive is shown to be maternal to Otto in a few instances, such as scolding him for drawing on the wall or taking away his cup of pickle juice when she thinks he's had enough. This story expands on those traits, making it so Olive is an actual mother to Mandy, displaying more maternal traits such as a drive to protect the hybrid from harm to obsessive degrees.
    • Oprah is depicted as being much nicer here than in Odd Squad, where she is a Benevolent Boss at best and a downright Enfant Terrible at worst. She also appears to have some Fantastic Racism towards ponies, being the leader of one of the only Odd Squad precincts that hasn't employed ponies aside from the Mane Six.
  • Bear Hug: Mandy is prone to giving these towards people, and inadvertently suffocating them in the process.
  • Big Eater: Mandy, and how. She can down all kinds of food within seconds, and it takes quite a lot to make her full. When she does, she goes into food comas.
  • Cat Girl: Vallea is a town located in what used to be Falkenburg (a real-life railway village in Ontario). It is populated solely by catpeople, who serve King Ashero, their ruler, with pride and dignity even in spite of his cruel nature. Peaches is a catgirl as well, having been kicked out of the town by Ashero and heading to Toronto in search of the culprit who razed Vallea so she could be accepted back in.
  • Cats Are Mean: Subverted with Peaches, who doesn't hesitate to attack Mandy under the pretense that she is the one who razed her hometown but warms up considerably as Mandy tries to befriend her.
  • Christmas Episode: "Season's Sneezings" counts as one. It follows a sick Mandy as she begins to develop nightmares involving everyone around her getting sick, culminating in her learning a lesson about working too hard and making sure to care for oneself.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Mandy often does this by way of misunderstanding certain phrases. In "Under A Rest", the first thing she does when Oprah tells her that she's on the hook is to spin around in circles while trying to feel her back for any sign of an embedded hook.
  • Darker and Edgier: By Odd Squad standards, this story is far more violent than most of anything in the series, with descriptions of physical violence, blood, and graphic injuries, among other things.
  • Drunk on Milk: As Olive states in "Working Hard and Hardly Working", Mandy loves root beer and will have it every once in a great while. However, she often overindulges on it and ends up getting incredibly hammered as a result, which then leads to her passing out only minutes after she consumes the drink. Peaches likens it to when she's sleep-deprived, where she acts a similar way.
Olive: Let me explain. Once in a blue moon — and I'm not talking about when the moon is actually blue — Mandy treats herself to root beer. The thing is, she always treats herself to too much root beer. And when she does...
Mandy: [laughs in a slurred manner, then burps, then proceeds to laugh again]
  • Establishing Character Moment: Mandy's first notable moment in the first chapter, "The Familial Surprise", involves her meeting Peaches, getting attacked by her, and reacting in pain for only a moment before she has a You Can Talk? reaction to the catgirl, which then spills into her acting cheerful and innocent while also annoying Peaches to the extreme.
  • Genki Girl: Mandy is eleven years old and has the hyperactivity to match. She gets into trouble, invades others' personal space, and is an annoyance to everyone on a regular basis.
  • God Save Us from the Queen!: Gender-inverted with King Ashero, the ruler of Vallea who is cold-hearted enough to exile Peaches after she fails to find the culprit who attacked Vallea in an appropriate amount of time (for him, anyway). He also sends out his own people to capture both Peaches and Mandy with the punishment of death hanging over their heads, and willingly works with the Big O so he can capture both of them as well and bring them to Vallea.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: While originally born a human, Mandy is a "pony-human hybrid", gaining pony ears, a tail, a long horn, and angelic wings while still keeping her old appearance as a human.
  • Happily Adopted: Mandy is an adopted Half-Human Hybrid living under the care of Olive, her work partner Otto, her old boss Oprah, and six ponies.
  • Really Fond of Sleeping: Mandy sleeps for 14-19 hours on the daily. How she manages to get her work done and still have time for recreational activities is anyone's guess, but most anyone who knows her allows her to sleep for that long because not letting her sleep enough is grounds for disaster to happen.
  • Sick Episode: "Season's Sneezings", which doubles as a Christmas Episode, has Mandy falling sick on Christmas Eve and suffering horrible nightmares as a result.
  • Weight Woe: In "The 'Die' in 'Diet'", Mandy begins to starve herself due to comments from other agents remarking on how she's gained weight. She ends up collapsing and nearly being killed by a laser chicken before being saved by an anonymous Good Samaritan and fed through an IV needle by Dr. O.
  • Welcome Episode: "The Familial Surprise" has Peaches meeting Mandy for the first time and eventually befriending her, as well as meeting and befriending the rest of the main cast.
  • You Can Talk?: In spite of her injuries, Mandy still manages to realize this about Peaches when she first meets the catgirl and hears her speak.
Mandy: Oh, you can talk! [blinks twice] Wait, why am I surprised?
