Bouncy bouncy, everybody summersalt, summer time, sing a long!
It's Howard's birthday, and Vince is trying to convince him to throw a party. Howard is reluctant, until a girl, Pencil Case Girl, arrives at the Nabootique eager to attend (it turns out Vince got her to do that). Naboo invites the whole shamanic council, including Head Shaman Dennis, who has to sneak around his wife to attend. But Dennis's extreme sports model wife shows up unexpectedly, and flirts with Vince, who has to go into hiding out of fear of Dennis's wrath. Meanwhile, Howard angsts about his lack of experience with women.
The two things come to a head when Dennis corners Vince and Howard on the roof, and the two engage in a passionate make-out session to prove that Vince didn't make advances on Dennis's wife. Howard becomes convinced that he's gay and in love with Vince, and dives at him passionately, pushing him off the roof and onto the bouncy castle that Vince conveniently happened to have ordered. Howard recants his gay identity after reuniting with Pencil Case Girl, and everyone has fun at the bouncy castle.
The Mighty Boosh episode "Party" contains these tropes:
- 24-Hour Party People: Previously on the series Vince, Naboo, and Howard each only had a few friends shown onscreen, but the party is full of dozens of friends of Vince's never before seen. Possibly justified in that Vince is the "Prince of Camden" and that many of the attendees had simply heard of Vince and were eager to attend the trendy event.
- Affair Hair: A variant. Dennis finds a blue feather (from Vince's elaborate cape) on his wife's clothing, which he takes as proof of her cheating, even though Vince rebuffed her advances. Once he sees Lester Corncrake wearing the cape with the same feathers, he decapitates him without asking any questions.
- Aside Glance: When Howard insists that he's 32, Vince and later Tony Harrison each turn to the camera and give a knowing, mischievous look lampshading the inconsistencies about Howard's age.
- Black Comedy Rape: At the end of the episode, Tony Harrison rapes Lester Corncrake's still living, decapitated head, while describing his eldritch horror penis.
- Big Damn Kiss: After three seasons of subtext, Vince and Howard declare their love for each other on a rooftop and engage in a long, passionate makeout session. Vince was lying about it to avoid getting killed, but Howard insists that his love is genuine and that he is now gay. After the first round, Howard dramatically declares his feelings and tackles Vince into another kiss, causing them to fall off the roof. Of course, he changes his mind about this five minutes later when he sees his crush Pencil Case Girl.
- Big Entrance: Vince shows up several hours late to his own party carried on a palanquin while dramatic music plays, then proceeds to give a speech. Everyone goes silent and it completely upstages Howard's speech.
- Call-Back: Vince's grand entrance to the party references a number of other episodes. He comes in to the Future Sailors music, accompanied by dancers wearing what appears to be his mirrorball suit and pulled in a sedan chair by the parka guys from "Tundra". In the first line of his speech, he refers to the attendees as the chosen ones, referencing "Fountain of Youth".
- Crazy Jealous Guy: Despite the apparent strain in his marriage, Dennis will decapitate anyone he even suspects of being with his wife.
- Crowd Song: The whole party joins in on Vince and Howard's Crimp about the bounce house, a reprise of the one the two of them did together earlier in the episode.
- Dance Party Ending: The episode ends with everyone jumping on the bouncy castle, singing a song together, and having a good time.
- Fakeout Makeout: Dennis corners Vince and accuses him of being with his wife. Vince, scared of being decapitated like Lester Corncrake, insists this isn't possible because he is gay and deeply in love with Howard, and proceeds to make out with Howard very passionately to prove it.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: The end credit sequence features very brief shots off to the side with Bob Fossil (who apparently snuck past Bollo) in a bikini and hula skirt.
- Forgotten Birthday: Zig-zagged. Howard insists Vince forgot his birthday, just like every year, while Vince claims he's ordered him a present that hasn't arrived yet. Vince also throws Howard a party "in his honor", but it seems clear that the party is really for himself, as Howard hates parties, nobody at the party has any idea who Howard is, and Vince dramatically upstages Howard's birthday speech. But at the end of the episode, it's revealed that Vince really did get Howard a present - a bouncy castle, and the two have a Friendship Moment when the gift is revealed.
- Losing Your Head: Lester Corncrake remains alive and talking for the entire rest of the party after Dennis cuts off his head midway through the evening.
- Noodle Incident: That time with the binoculars, a notorious and unexplained incident that got Howard reported in the Guardian.
- Off with His Head!: Dennis cuts off Lester Corncrake's head with one slash of his sword.
- Saved by the Platform Below: Howard's loving tackle of Vince causes them both to fall off the roof, seemingly to their death, but they are conveniently saved by the bouncy castle set up on the floor below.
- Spin the Bottle: Howard, Vince and a few party-goers play this game using one of Naboo's bottles, but every time Howard goes, it skips all the attractive women and lands on the one burly, hairy guy.
