Episode number: 16a

Timmy discovers that Remy Buxaplenty, a local rich kid, also has a fairy (and the fairy, Juandissimo Magnifico, is none other than Wanda's ex-boyfriend). The two eventually get into a competition with each other where the loser will lose his fairies forever.

"Fairy Fairy Quite Contrary" contains examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Cosmo inadvertently wins the first challenge, rescuing Timmy from a gorilla, by poofing up some bananas for himself, which the gorilla takes in exchange for Timmy.
  • Accidental Misnaming: Remy's parents end up calling him Liam. Since they never even try to call him by name, he considers it a start.
  • An Aesop:
    • Don't be jealous of other kids' success or try to bring them down out of spite.
    • Rich people are not always irredeemable jerks undeserving of sympathy. Timmy found out that Remy may have just needed some more time with his parents. It didn't work.
  • Berserk Button: Juandissimo becomes enraged when Cosmo changes into him and mocks him, and taunts that despite all his "beauty" he still lost his girlfriend to an idiot. This distracts Juandissimo so much he can't concentrate properly and fires his spell at the last possible second, missing Remy and transforming Timmy instead.
Juandissimo: Stop making fun of my outer beauty!
  • Blatant Lies: Wanda's attempts to deny that she doesn't know Juandissimo are so blatant, Timmy sees right through it.
  • Braces of Orthodontic Overkill: Chester produces some stuff from his braces again.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Remy gets concerned that Timmy could wish to have more money. The very next episode shows that wishing for money is against the rules, as it's considered counterfeiting. Justified, as it's entirely plausible that Remy (like Timmy) wasn't aware of that rule.
  • Epic Fail: In the second round, Timmy needs to distract an adult so Cosmo and Wanda can put out a fire. He tries doing a card trick, and ends up tossing every card into the fire, causing it to grow.
  • Exact Words: When Timmy engages Remy Buxaplenty in a magical duel, the deciding round is that whoever is turned into the most fantastic animal wins. Remy, with the help of highly paid consultants he easily speed dialed, comes up with a much more exotic animal than Timmy, but thanks to Cosmo's distractions, Juandissimo's spell misses and hits Timmy instead. Remy claims victory, having produced "the most amazing creature ever", but Wanda points out the wording of the challenge: the child who is turned into the most fantastic animal wins. Because Timmy was the one transformed, he is the winner, not Remy. Jorgen confirms that she is correct, announcing that as the winner Timmy will keep is godparents, and Remy will lose his.
  • The Faceless: Remy's parents.
  • Guns Akimbo: Timmy uses Cosmo and Wanda as guns in a video game.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Remy challenges Timmy to a magical duel because he wants him to lose Cosmo and Wanda. Timmy winds up winning and Remy loses Juandissimo.
  • I Kiss Your Hand: Juandissimo looks like he's doing this to Wanda's hand when he sees her again after so many years and tries to woo her. It is then revealed that he was actually kissing the hand of her husband Cosmo, who is not happy about this at all.
  • Loophole Abuse: According to Da Rules, fairies are not allowed to reveal the existence of other children's fairies and that the godchild must figure it out themselves. Timmy wishes that Wanda tells him who Remy's fairy is.
  • The Missus and the Ex: For the first time in the series, Wanda, Cosmo, and Juandissimo are in the same place.
  • New Old Flame: Remy's fairy godparent Juandissimo turns out to also be Wanda's ex-boyfriend. While Wanda is now (more or less) Happily Married to Cosmo, Juandissimo is still very much in love with her and continues to pursue her in his next appearances.
  • Parental Neglect: They spend a minute a day with their son (literally timed down to the second) and don't even remember his name.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Timmy arrives at Remy's mansion to "cut to the chase" (namely, Remy attempting to get rid of Timmy's fairies). Here, Remy attempts to bribe Timmy to wish away his fairies. Timmy sums up Remy pretty well in response.
Timmy: You know what stinks about you, Remy? You're rich, you have godparents and you're still miserable!
  • The Resenter: After the second round of the duel, Timmy tells Remy they can just call it a draw there and neither of them will lose their fairies. However, Remy refuses because he resents that Timmy has fairy godparents as well as real parents that are more loving and attentive than his are.
Timmy: Look, we can call all this a draw right now! I don't care if you have a godparent, Remy.
Remy: But I care if you do! My parents are never home! I never get to see them! Why should you have real parents and godparents that love you WHEN I DON'T???!!!
  • Rhymes on a Dime: When Cosmo is making fun of Juandissimo to distract him he does some quick rhyming while taunting him, calling him a "Chunky hunky" and " Monkey chunky hunky" while transforming into these images.
  • Rule of Three: The Magical Duel has three challenges. The first challenge is for the fairy godparent to rescue their godchild from a giant ape. The second challenge is for the godchild to distract a human so he doesn't see their godparent put out a fire. The third challenge is for the godchild to think up an animal and have their godparent turn them into that animal, with the godchild turned into the most fantastic animal winning.
  • Running Gag: Cosmo threatening Juandissimo only to wind up turned into a turtle. At the end of the episode, Cosmo exacts his revenge and turns the tables on Juandissimo who is later found by Remy, only the boy doesn't remember him due to losing the duel and also...
    Remy: WHO WANTS TURTLE SOUP?!
Juandissimo: No! I am too sexy to eat!
  • Shout-Out: The gorilla from the first challenge ends up parodying Donkey Kong.
  • Ticket-Line Campout: Timmy and his friends camp out to get tickets to a Crash Nebula movie. However, Remy Buxaplenty buys all the tickets (one for himself and the rest for his bags of money).
