Tropes in this episode include:

  • Adaptive Ability: No matter what cheap tricks the Campbell Siblings throw at their opponents, the super spies are able to adjust their gameplay and continue scoring without issues.
  • All for Nothing:
    • Despite winning the tournament while besting the Campbell siblings, the spy duo are forbidden from gaining the prized portrait after the Cavi Campbell receives a call from the State Security Service informing him of its true value.
    • It gets worse when they do recover the code and discover what was inside the depository: a journal containing photos of beautiful actresses along with the writer's admiration for theater.
  • Animation Bump: The final scene with Twilight and Nightfall using their graceful, godlike powers to avoid each sniper attack and score points against the Campbell Siblings is beautifully animated.
  • Beyond the Impossible: On her first serve, Yor manages to slice her tennis ball into tiny bite-sized pieces.
  • Brick Joke: Fiona takes a tacky statue filled with jewel-encrusted rings as a consolation prize; Twilight suggests that they can give the Handler the prize as a gift. When he goes to see her in her office, Sylvia is shown wearing two of the rings.
  • Bulletproof Vest: After Taking the Bullet for Nightfall, Twilight reveals he was actually wearing a bullet-proof vest that kept him unharmed.
  • Crazy-Prepared:
    • Figuring that his opponents would use lethal force at some point in the tournament, Twilight armed himself with a bulletproof jacket.
    • Nightfall carried a copy of the "Lady in the Sun" portrait in the event that she needed to swap out the real portrait with a fake.
  • Does Not Know Her Own Strength: Yor hits the tennis ball too hard and is devastated when it crumbles into pieces.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Anya understands why Becky is in love with soap operas after seeing her own live-action version via Yor and Fiona's battle.
  • Fakin' MacGuffin: It's revealed that the heroes managed to get their hands on the real painting by swapping it out against a replica.
  • Freudian Slip: Twilight accidentally calls Nightfall by her true alias instead of her fake name.
  • Fantasy Counterpart Culture: A subcultural version. Zacharis' fanatism regarding musical theatre and its actresses is practically a 1950s equivalent of modern Idol Singer fandoms, the latter of which Endo is proudly a part of.
  • Godzilla Threshold: With all their tricks having gone to waste, the Campbell Siblings call on a sniper in the vents to shoot rubber bullets at the Phony Pair as a last resort.
  • Graceful Loser: The Brother accepts his loss to the Phony Pair and vows to become a more honorable player after receiving a small pep talk from Twilight.
  • Imagine Spot: After hearing Fiona's inner vow of usurping Yor's position, Anya imagines Yor surrendering her role while the homewrecker takes over.
  • In Medias Res: The episode picks up with the Phony Pair annihilating the Campbell Siblings.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: The Campbell Brother gets hit with a rubber bullet that Twilight accidentally shoots at him with.
  • Moment Killer: Twilight thinks of Zacharis as a decent man if he wanted to keep those photos a secret so his little family can be happy and strong. Sylvia openly questions why he would have those photos to begin with if he was an honest family man.
  • Nerd Hoard: The Zacharis Dossier turns out to be a collection of musical starlet photos.
  • Obligatory Earpiece Touch: The ball boy touches his ear when he receives instructions from the sniper via his earpiece.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Yor manages to beat her rival in the tennis match but she still has feelings of doubt and insecurity afterwards.
  • Running Away to Cry: After her devasting loss to Mrs. Forger, Fiona runs to her car and drives away in a frenzy all while crying.
  • The Stinger: The last scene involves Fiona training in the mountains in a fit of rage while scaring the local critters.
  • Taking the Bullet: Twilight runs to protect Nightfall from a sniper attack that came from the vents. He remains unharmed thanks to a Bulletproof Vest.
  • We Will Meet Again: Fiona vows to reunite with Yor so she can challenge her again.
  • Worth It: Even though the secret code led to a photo collection of actresses and not any devastating secrets, Sylvia acknowledges that just knowing that there were no war-igniting secrets was enough to make the whole mission worth it.

"Consider it a Huge Victory"

Loid/Agent Twilight and Handler Sylvia find out the secret information they were searching for is just some general's personal family matters rather than classified intel. Even though it was a waste of time, they still consider it a success since they managed to retrieve the info without igniting a war.

How well does it match the trope?
