Tropes that appear in this episode:

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Yor going all out with cutting ingredients unintentionally results in Camila's cutting board being destroyed.
  • All for Nothing: Franky spent a lot of time practicing talking to his crush with Loid, just for him to get rejected.
  • Bait-and-Switch: Loid notices Yor coming home from work much later than usual while sporting bandages on her fingers and a serious expression. Later, she would appear in front of a house carrying a bloody bag. We then learn that she's been going to Camila's house for cooking lessons and the bag was filled with crushed tomatoes.
  • Call-Back: The event that made Yor want to become a better cook was Loid having to spend an entire afternoon at the bathroom after eating her food, back in the first episode of this season (actually, it was an excuse Twilight gave to his family so he could deal with Keith and the terrorists, but from Yor's perspective, this is what happened).
  • Complexity Addiction: Loid comes up with an elaborate multi-step chart for Franky to follow when it comes to holding a conversation with his crush.
  • Death Glare: Loid gives one to Franky after he threatens to leak his information to the secret police.
  • Disguised in Drag: Loid goes all out in pretending to be a woman to help train Franky in holding conversations.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Yuri considers executing Camila just for being mean to his sister.
  • Drowning His Sorrows: Franky goes to a bar to drink his pain away after being brutally rejected by his crush.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: When Franky reveals to Twilight that the top secret mission is helping him land a date, Twilight tells him that he doesn't have time for something so trivial, and to figure it out himself and walks away to Franky's curses. As Twilight keeps ignoring him, Franky threatens to sell him out to the Ostanian Secret Police if he doesn't help him ask out the woman, which causes Twilight to stop in his tracks and give him a Death Glare, and Franky says he was only kidding, and to sweeten the deal, agrees to build him a spy gadget free of charge if he shares some advice with how to land a date.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Yuri's love for his sister is so strong that he can happily consume whatever lethal concoction she makes. Even as he's vomiting or on the brink of death, he'll wolf it all down with a great big smile.
  • Faux Horrific: The horror on Anya's face when Yor declares that she is gonna prepare dinner.
  • Happy Flashback: The Briar siblings remember a time when their mother was alive and made a delicious stew for them to enjoy. Camila decides to have Yor recreate that dish.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Camila is strongly against teaching Yor how to cook, yells at her for each of her blunders and has zero patience to offer, but she still follows through with helping her clueless coworker in making a decent meal.
  • Lethal Chef: Yor's cooking skills are on the same level of lethality as her assassination talent. Anything she makes can make people throw up or pass out on first taste.
  • Mess on a Plate: The Thorn Princess' first dish was filled with various disgusting elements that it radiated purple ooze.
  • Mood Whiplash: The Forger Family enjoying Yor's first successful dish brings her to tears and gives her hope about being a good mother and wife. But then she ruins it when she brings out her homemade dessert...
  • Mundane Utility: Anya tries to get her future-seeing dog to tell her what they'll have for dinner.
  • Nice Guy: Camila's boyfriend was the one to accept Yor's cooking request and allows her to come to their house to learn. He also does his best to keep peace between the women while encouraging Camila not to give up on her coworker.
  • Prophecy Twist: Anya sees a vision of her mother crying and worries about the reasoning. It's later explained that she was crying Tears of Joy over her first successful dish.
  • Stalker with a Crush: As an informant, Franky sees nothing wrong with obtaining as much personal information as he can on his lady crush.
  • Stepford Smiler: When asked about his crush, Franky cheerfully remarks that it turned out well but that she had to reschedule and he's going to a bar to pass the time. Anya knew the truth and patted his hand to comfort him.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Loid provides company and a free expensive drink to Franky as he's wallowing in sorrow at the bar.
