Recap / She Ra And The Princesses Of Power S 1 E 09 No Princess Left Behind

Go To

With her friends and the sword held prisoner in the Fright Zone, Adora turns to the Princess Alliance for help on a dangerous rescue mission.

Tropes:

  • Bavarian Fire Drill: Scorpia finds Sea Hawk, and he avoids getting caught at first by claiming he's a safety inspector. Luckily Scorpia was expecting an inspector. Unluckily, believing him means she drags him off to where the inspection is supposed to be, and she eventually realizes he was lying.
  • Cloudcuckoolander's Minder: Perfuma has to watch over and drag Entrapta back when she wanders and is constantly trying to keep her focused.
  • The Dog Bites Back: After years of abuse, and even going as far to claim credit for her success, Catra decided to get some payback on Shadow Weaver by helping Adora escape since Shadow Weaver insisting on taking credit for Catra's successes means that she also takes the blame for her failures.
  • Down the Drain: It's already bad enough Mermista has to swim through the muck. She also has to suffer the usual things that happen in a sewer too.
  • Floating Platforms: The fight in the prison cell block takes place on these.
  • Funny Background Event: Bow is clearly distracting Kyle from noticing the fighting going on in the background.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Adora gives herself up so her friends can escape and so she'll be brought to Glimmer, hoping to bargain herself for Glimmer's freedom.
  • Heroic Willpower: Glimmer forces herself to teleport through the Black Garnet's energy so she can save Adora.
  • Laser-Guided Amnesia: Shadow Weaver intends to erase Adora's time with the Rebellion from her memory. Glimmer stops her before she's successful.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: First, Shadow Weaver takes credit for Catra's work and then tells Catra she's no longer needed as Force Captain since she intends to reinstate Adora. It's not a surprise when Catra returns Adora the Sword of Protection.
  • Never Say "Die": Adora is told that Entrapta "didn't make it" and suggests they go back for her. The others resort to several other euphemisms to get across that they mean Entrapta is dead.
  • I Have Your Wife: Hordak plans to use Glimmer as a hostage to get Angella to surrender.
  • Only Sane Man: Adora struggles to keep her sanity with the princesses' conflicting personalities derailing her plan.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Entrapta's apparent death casts a pall over the last minutes of the episode, with Perfuma, Sea Hawk, and Mermista all behaving far more seriously than at any time they've previously appeared. Mermista even begins to cry before hiding her face.
  • Planning with Props: This is spoofed when some of the characters argue over what item should represent them.
  • Super-Deformed: Bow made chibi models of Adora, Glimmer, and himself.
  • Stealing the Credit: Shadow Weaver takes credit for kidnapping Glimmer and Bow and stealing the sword. Catra is furious.
  • Sword Drag: Catra does this with She-Ra's sword along the wall.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: The princesses do not fully get along, and their strong personalities clash with each other, derailing Adora's plan almost immediately. Entrapta is a major offender as she constantly gets sidetracked by everything around her.
  • Tempting Fate: The title itself, plus the numerous characters also stating no one will be left behind.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Entrapta seemingly dies from going back into a chamber that is about to vent fire... to save her robot.
