Do you know the watermelon man?
One day during a video shooting, Luigi, Bob, and Boopkins go missing, and a half of watermelon is left behind. According to SMG3, this can only be the work of the Watermelon Man, a mysterious creature made out of the titular fruit with the power to make watermelons out of your butt forever. Can he, Mario and SMG4 escape the wrath of the Watermelon Man?
Tropes:
- Attention Deficit... Ooh, Shiny!: Mario is all set to catch Luigi in a butterfly net after the latter swings through a horde of sexually aggressive Teletubbies, but is distracted by a butterfly long enough for Luigi to miss the net, crash into the wall and get land right in the enclosure where the Teletubbies promptly mob him, forcing Bob to "rescue" him with a grenade.
- Blue-and-Orange Morality: The Watermelon Man's idea of inviting people to Melony's birthday party is relentlessly stalking someone in a Slender Man-esque scenario and scaring the crap out of them. He also has an obsession with turning your butt into a pair of watermelons.
- Botanical Abomination: The Watermelon Man is a human-shaped pile of watermelons that will relentlessly hunt you down to turn your butt into watermelons. He's also Melony's dad.
- Covers Always Lie: The Watermelon Man looks different on the thumbnail than he does in the video. Granted, the one on the thumbnail was more of a Slender Man parody... as in, Slender Man with a watermelon for a head.
- Crazy-Prepared: SMG3 sleeps with a pistol under his pillow, allowing him to react quickly when the Watermelon Man comes to call.
- Cruel Twist Ending: Played for Laughs. After fleeing the Watermelon Man in fear of him turning their butts into watermelons, SMG4 and Mario are relieved to learn he just came to invite them and all the folks he "kidnapped" to Melony's birthday party. Then, just as it seems they're getting a straightforward happy ending at the party, SMG3 and the other kidnapping victims reveal the Watermelon Man really did replace their butts with watermelons, with the episode closing on SMG4 and Mario screaming while the Watermelon Man comes for them next.
- Faux Horrific: The idea of suffering a Forced Transformation into a watermelon wouldn't be pretty... if it weren't for the fact that Mario and the SMGs were afraid of having their butts turned into watermelons.
- Instantly Proven Wrong: After hearing about the Watermelon Man, SMG4 sarcastically quips about Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy also being real. Cue Mario holding both and stating they are real.
- Left the Background Music On: A sound effect example. When Luigi, Bob and Boopkins all emerge from the bushes completely unharmed, applause can be heard in the background. SMG4 pauses and asks where it's coming from.
- The Medic: SMGs 3 and 4 have Bob and Boopkins act as doctors should anyone get injured during filming. Their performances are... less than stellar, to put it mildly.
- Oh, Crap!: SMG3 has two in rapid succession: one when notices the titular creature lurking outside the castle and watching them through the door, and another when he ends up face to face with the Watermelon Man after running out of the castle in terror.
- Not the Intended Use: It's implied Bob, who's on medic duty with Boopkins, decided to drink the disinfectantnote included with the medical kit as he's clearly drunk.
- Non-Malicious Monster: The Watermelon Man isn't actively malicious; in fact, he's Melony's father who invited the Glitchy Gang to celebrate his daughter's birthday. He still has a weird obsession with making watermelons out of people's butts, though.
- Pain to the Ass: The Watermelon Man's modus operandi is making watermelons out of people's butts.
- Retcon: Melony says in "Revelations" that she doesn't have parents, but this episode introduces her father.
- The Scream: As it happens, despite turning out to be a Non-Malicious Monster, the Watermelon Man still wants to turn Mario and SMG4's butts into watermelons. The episode ends midway through the two screaming in horror.
- Shout-Out:
- When Mario is distracted by a butterfly at the beginning, he catches it in the same way as a Villager would catch a bug.
- The title is a reference to the 1970 film of the same name.
