Tropes

  • Classical Mythology: Dora Circe is based on/inspired by the enchantress Circe from Greek mythology, who was renown for turning her enemies into animals. The best-known example of this is in The Odyssey, where she turns Odysseus' crew into pigs. Like in the myth, Dora Circe's weakness is moly.
  • Cool Helmet: Dora Circe wears a Spartan-style helmet.
  • Composite Character: While based on Circe, his actions reflect the Harpies from the myth Jason and the Argonauts in preventing those that their masters mark for torment from eating.
  • Creator Backlash: In-universe example. Pleprechaun, being an artist, admits that Dora Circe is not one of his finest works and is miffed over Bandora using the Dora Monster.
  • Deathby Gluttony: Dora Circle's so ravenous and eager for food no matter where it comes from that the Zyurangers were able to trick him into eating moly, which weakens him and forces him to vomit their weapons.
  • Eating Contest: Gnome has the Zyurangers earn the Moly by eating a large meal, with Boy the the last one standing.
  • Et Tu, Brute?: Mamoru assumes Boy took his food when Dora Circe snatched it from the boy.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Dora Circe can eat anything without a problem, even the Zyuranger's Legendary Weapons. He also intended to eat them as well before Gnome intervene.
  • Invisibility: Dora Circe moves so fast that he comes off invisible to the human eye.
  • Kryptonite Factor: Dora Circe hates moly, a herb which causes him to get sick and vomit all the food he's eaten. Once the Zyurangers obtain molly, they use it to their advantage to get their weapons back and weaken the Dora Monster to easily destroy him.
  • Nothing but Skin and Bones:
    • Mamoru and his family after Dora Circe tormented them for three days.
    • While it can't be done perfectly due to how his suit is designed, this trope is emulated when Dora Circe is fed molly and vomits up all the food he's eaten as well as the Legendary Weapons; his suit "deflates" to show how empty he's become.
  • Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Bandora is too weak for a Make My Monster Grow sequence because her fasting made her too sick to aid the equally weakened Dora Circe.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Dora Circe, a goofy-looking monster, gave the Zyurangers a good thrashing, devour their weapons, and only escaped him due to outside aid from Gnome.
  • One-Track-Minded Hunger: His mission is to eat all food in the city, so he naturally thinks about eating.
  • Our Monsters Are Weird: Quite possibly the most quintessential example, Dora Circle is a huge pig head with limbs wearing a Spartan helmet. Even knowing he's based on Circe from Greek mythology doesn't help lessen his weirdness any. Even Pleprechaun lampshades the monster as not of his best works.
  • Pig Man: Dora Circle, obviously, although the "man" part is pushing it. He's a a huge pig head with limbs, wearing a Spartan helmet.
  • Stout Strength: Dora Circe is obese but strong, able to smack the Rangers around with ease.
  • Too Spicy for Yog-Sothoth: Dora Circe's weakness is Molly. This gives the Zyurangers an idea to trick him into eating a sandwich with molly, causing him to spit out everything he ate, including the Legendary Weapons.
  • Villainous Glutton: Dora Circe.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: Dora Circe had a large fork and knife upon his creation but doesn't use them through the rest of the episode.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Boy hates carrots.
