Narrator: Previously on… Kamen Rider Gotchard!
Riku Sunayama was a grade-schooler who loved his father, "Gotchanko-ing" to meet the shy cactus Chemy, Saboneedle!
The friendship between them was strong, but they still had to be separated due to Chemy Law.
This further motivates Houtarou to create a future where humans and Chemies can live side-by-side in peace!

Houtaro and his class go to Kyoto for a field trip, getting into the same group as Rinne and Kajiki. Amidst this trip, Kajiki meets a girl named Hijiri Himeno who shares his love for the paranormal, and is immediately smitten with her.

At the same time, Clotho is in Kyoto for a retrieval mission when she sees Houtaro there, deciding to exact her revenge on the young rookie alchemist by making another Malgam.

Tropes

  • All Part of the Show: Onlookers believe the giant fight between Batkingrobo Gotchard and the Jungle Malgam is some performance.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Renge, Sabimaru, and Golddash arrive just as the Jungle Malgam is about to finish a weakened Houtarou off, with Golddash tackling the Malgam and the alchemists delivering Steamliner so that Houtarou has a usable transformation.
  • Birds of a Feather: Kajiki bonds with Hijiri over their love of the paranormal.
  • Busman's Holiday: Houtarou and Rinne go to Kyoto for a class trip, only to learn that Clotho is spotted in the area.
  • Chekhov's Gun: The ninja mannequins spotted around Kyoto Film Studio turn out to be convenient for Minato to animate using alchemy to fight against Clotho.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The hooded criminal Clotho frees near the episode's beginning alongside Yabuki appears not long before the end; it's hinted that he is Hijiri's brother.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Houtaro in the middle of his fight with the Jungle Malgam.
  • Contrived Coincidence: Ryo runs into Hijiri by pure chance, where they bond over their published letters in the exact same issue of the paranormal magazine they enjoy.
  • Five-Second Foreshadowing: Right after Hijiri reminisces about seeing hitodama together with her brother as children, she receives a message from someone asking to meet with her.
  • Foreshadowing: What looks like a Driver appears in Atropos's alchemical brew.
    • The Haunted House escapade actually foreshadows Kamen Rider Dread to a small degree, whose arc begins right after the Kyoto Trip finishes. Dread's motif is centered on skeletons and other horror conventions. The Dreadriver's jingle wouldn't be out of place in a haunted house also.
  • Haunted House: The three decide to go to one during their trip, and while both Hotaro and Kajiki are both frightened out of their minds, Rinne is seen smiling the whole time. As it turns out, Hijiri also works there as one of the "ghosts".
  • Humongous Mecha: Batkingrobo Gotchard transforms Hotaro into a giant robot with wings.
  • Little Stowaway: Hopper1 decides to sneak into Hotaro's backpack to see Kyoto.
  • Not So Above It All: Rinne has a very good time at the haunted house, and she demands to see sites related to The Shinsengumi (when even Hotaro comments that they don't have time for sightseeing).
  • Shout-Out: While fighting a Behemoth Battle as Batkingrobo, Hotaro quickly runs out of energy and a light flashes on his chest in warning — just like the time limits and low power alerts in Ultraman.
  • Stating the Simple Solution: Upon learning that Hotaro made Hopper1 stay behind for the Kyoto trip, Rinne said he could've just made the Chemy stay in card form. Hotaro said no because it's a school trip.
  • Two Lines, No Waiting: Or three, in this case. Houtarou, Rinne and Minato have to deal with Clotho's coincidental arrival in Kyoto, Kajiki makes a new friend, and a third, minor plot deals with Supana attempting to find out the Dark Sisters' motives from Lachesis.
  • Wasn't That Fun?: Rinne says this after she, Hotaro, and Kajiki go through a haunted house, being the only one who found it to be fun.
  • Wham Shot: As Hijiri embraces the mysterious man, the camera pans down to reveal the broken handcuffs dangling from his wrist, revealing him to be the second criminal Clotho freed earlier.

Titular Chemy: Golddash
Cards used:
Gotchard: Yamibat + Renkingrobo = Batkingrobo
