The Tide Mice Hilda summoned back in the first season turn out to have followed her home, and find a new host in a random vending machine deliveryman.

Song at the end: "Hilda's Theme" by Ryan Carlson

Tropes:

  • Cool and Unusual Punishment: For her part in causing the Tide Mice chaos, Hilda is cursed to have mouse whiskers for the rest of the day.
  • Destination Defenestration: Afer Wanda has made Gil her replacement, she dons a parachute and leaps out the window of her office to start her new life.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: The witches committee wants to throw Hilda into the void for the tide mice incident. Tildy points out that, and one of the witches on the committee is quick to admit that, they are just looking for any excuse they can find to throw people into the void.
  • Dodgy Toupee: When Kaisa tries to vacuum the tide mouse from the head of a Jorts employee, she ends up sucking up his toupee instead. She quickly apologizes.
  • Exact Words: When Frida reviews the disenchantment instructions, she explains that these were in play as the last part of the disenchantment says don't forget to feed the Tide Mice a morsel of bread or they will never leave you in peace. Not to remember to feed them , but specifically explains not to forget. Ultimately Hilda remembered to feed them the bread, but she forgot to feed them at first. And the act of forgetting to feed them for a moment kept the last part of the disenchantment from working.
  • Explosive Breeder: The two Tide Mice Hilda initially summoned multiply into more than four hundred after they infest the Jorts factory.
  • Flying Broomstick: Played with. When catching the tide mice, Kaisa rides a vacuum cleaner the way a witch normally rides a broomstick.
  • I Can Live With That: This was Hilda's response when she has to have mouse whiskers on her face for the rest of the day.
  • Internal Reveal: David learns the Librarian is named Kaisa and that she is a witch.
  • It's All My Fault: Hilda blames herself for the chaos that the Tide Mice are causing at the Jorts factory.
  • MegaCorp: Jorts goes from a regional snack foods manufacturer to a global empire after the deliveryman with the Tide Mice becomes CEO due to them. In the span of 1 day, no less.
  • Misplaced Accent: Gil has a slight accent that makes him sound like he came from a Southern state in the U.S., Even if Hilda takes place somewhere in Europe.
  • Name Amnesia: David is so nervous when facing the Committee of Three that he can't even remember his name.
  • News Travels Fast: Said word for word by Hilda when Tildy shows up in Witches tower and reveals she already knows about the Tide Mice problem.
Hilda: News really travels fast around here.
    Frida: Witches Gossip.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: David traps a tide mouse in a xerox machine, but this results in the machine spitting out dozens of more tide mice.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Gil shows kindness to the tide mice by feeding them some Jorts, but this causes them to attach to him, which kicks off the plot and nearly costs Gil his soul.
  • Ominous Visual Glitch: The television screens present in the Jorts HQ are seen glitching out as Hilda and co. enter the building.
  • "Open!" Says Me: Frida uses magic to open the doors of the library when the kids go there after closing time.
  • Read the Fine Print: Alfur tells Hilda that none of this would have happened if she had read the footnotes before performing the spell in the first place. Amusingly, one of the witches committee says the exact same thing later on.
  • Seen It All: After everything that already happened to him that day, Gil takes the news that his soul is in danger and they need to perform a magic ritual to save him in strides.
  • Sequel Episode: to "Chapter 8: The Tide Mice".
  • Shout-Out: A group working together to fight supernatural creatures haunting a place with vacuum cleaners. Ghostbusters, anyone?
  • Solid Gold Poop: Subverted, the Tide Mouse droppings look like gold, and David tries to take them, but then they burn a hole in his pocket and dissolve.
  • Time-Passes Montage: Happens after Gil's good luck starts, but the viewer is tricked regarding how much time exactly passes. We see Gil getting promotion after promotion, and become Employee of the Month so many times his pictures fill up an entire wall, all of which implies months or even years go by. Then we learn it's actually still the same day the episode started on
  • Weapons That Suck: Hilda and friends use vacuums to capture most of the Tide Mice.
