While being stuck looking after Carter for an afternoon, Peter introduces him to the Internet, only for the two to fall victim to a 419 Scam. Outraged, Carter takes Peter to Africa, intent on recovering his money. Meanwhile, Brian becomes creepily obsessed with Meg's friend Patty after accidentally discovering that despite her average looks and drab clothes, she has surprisingly a very attractive body that's usually covered up.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Awful Wedded Life: A Cutaway Gag has a groom listing all of the things he won't get to enjoy now that he's married.
  • Butter Face: Patty, while not exactly as hideous as this trope usually goes for, turns out to have a gorgeous body that completely clashes with her average face.
  • Dirty Old Man: Despite only being middle-aged, Brian really invokes this in the episode.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Carter (for a few minutes) at least cares that warlords plan to hurt innocent people.
  • 419 Scam: The main plot of the episode.
  • Jailbait Taboo: Averted. Stewie warns Brian that the girl Patty whom Brian is lusting after still in high school (though legal and adult) but Brian doesn't care as he's still eager to take advantage of her hot body. It's up to Meg to stop him from going further.
  • Kick the Dog: After finding out the Africans who scammed him used his money to build infrastructure for their village, Carter hires a team of mercenaries to destroy it and terrorize them just for petty revenge, and when Peter tries to stop him, Carter decides to have him executed. Lois calls him out on this.
  • Prayer of Malice: Swooped around until Brian wondering if the stars are wishing on him and Patty cuts to two stars in the far distance cartoonishly telling each other that they wished for him to strike out, at which Neil DeGrasse Tyson appears in the Ship of the Imagination to tell viewers, "even at the speed of light, it can take mean-spirited wishes thousands or even millions of years to reach Earth..."
  • Pun: Peter and Carter go to the African village of East Bola or E. Bola.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The title is a reference to the musical comedy Damn Yankees.
    • Carter's cutaway song "Babs Is Shopping" (which he sings while rearranging the furniture) is a reference to the 1990's music video for "Virtual Insanity" by Jamiroquai.
    • Carter's mention of Josh Hartnett is in reference to his television series Cracker.
    • Peter tells a chimpanzee to take his memoir to "a French-Canadian flight attendant," a reference to Gaetan Dugas, a Canadian flight attendant and AIDS victim, was once thought to be the "patient zero" of HIV in the United States.
    • The graph showing the spread of Peter's memoirs by the chimpanzee is reminiscent of the spread of the virus along flight paths which decimates humanity in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
    • While in Africa, Lois uses her smart phone to call Uber, a ride sharing service, which in the episode, arrives in the form of a black rhino, as signified by the "UberBLACK" symbol for their premium car service. As they depart, an elephant wearing a pink mustache arrives, referring to the competing service Lyft.
    • Carter demands to speak to Anthony Anderson, referring to the African-American actor and star of the television show Black-ish at the time of this episode's original broadcast.
    • "All Star" by Smash Mouth plays when Brian picks up Patty at school.
    • Peter mentions a fondness for a film in which Kelsey Grammer falls off a stage. The actor was speaking at a private event for community leaders and the media, for the pre-opening of the Disney's Grand Californian Hotel in Anaheim, CA.
  • Take That!:
    • Carter mentions going lion hunting with a scumbag dentist, referring to Walter Palmer, who killed Cecil, a notable lion who was claimed to have been lured from a protected area.
    • Carter says some of his vindictiveness with the villagers stems from Sammy Davis, Jr.'s affair with actress Kim Novak.
    • Peter watches a show featuring Kevin James, who returned to television because he's too fat for movies.
  • Tall Poppy Syndrome: After Meg saves Patty from Brian, she reveals that she knew all along that Patty wasn't as unattractive as the rest of the girls in their friend group, but said she was anyway so she wouldn't realize how attractive she was and become more popular than them.
  • Totally Radical: Brian suggests to Patty that they listen to Smash Mouth because he doesn't know what kind of music her generation likes.
  • What the Hell, Hero?:
    • Stewie calls Brian out for lusting after a high-schooler, but as usual, Brian doesn't even acknowledge the problem.
    • Everyone calls out Carter for how he got revenge on the Africans, who only used the money to better their village, and for threatening Peter's life.
