Bandit takes the girls to a takeaway bar. Bluey wants to play with a water tap, but Bandit says no. Then, both girls want to order something spicy, despite Bandit's insistence that they don't like spicy food. He enters, leaving the girls alone on a chair.

They start goofing around and Bingo uses her tail to blow the newspapers off, then carries them back in her mouth. Bandit exits with a bag of food, but he forgets something and goes back into the restaurant, leaving the girls outside again.

They push each other off a chair and blow raspberries, then Bandit exits again, but they have to wait again since he forgot to order spring rolls. He phone-calls Chilli, who complains that Bandit is taking too long. Bluey wants to play while they wait, but Bandit just wants to read the paper.

Bluey gets thirsty, so Bandit lets her use the tap but not shower under it. She needs help turning it on, but she manages to get her drink. After he helps her turn it off, Bingo (who'd wanted to eat some nearby plants but was told no) wants to know why only certain plants are edible, while Bluey wants to play with some menus.

He lets her grab two, but then Bingo gets thirsty as well, so Bandit lets her drink from the tap and Bluey drops the menus in the water. Bandit has her retrieve two more, then the girls start playing restaurant. However, they take Bandit's chair and newspaper to use in their game. He goes back into the restaurant.

Bingo wants to actually eat the food as part of the game, since she's hungry, and she spills it due to being shocked at how spicy it is. Bandit exits and is dismayed at the food being spilled. He rinses out Bingo's mouth, but then she has to pee. Bluey is pretending to be a walrus with chopsticks in her mouth, so Bandit again tells her not to play under the tap, then takes Bingo inside to ask for directions to the bathroom.

Upon learning that the bathroom is too far, and Bingo is too "busting" to wait until she gets home, he has her pee into a bush. Meanwhile, Bluey again has trouble turning off the tap. Bandit turns it off once Bingo finishes doing her "business", but crows eat the spilled food, and he then slips on it and falls. To make matters worse, the takeaway lady comes out and tells them that the spring rolls will take five more minutes.

She hands the girls fortune cookies, and Bluey's reads, "Flowers may bloom again, but a person never has the chance to be young again". Upon hearing this, Bandit finally lets Bluey shower under the tap, and Bingo joins in.

Tropes:

  • Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Bluey rubs Bingo on the head after the latter brings the newspaper back.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Most of the food has been stolen or wrecked, but the girls are having fun under the tap.
  • Blowing a Raspberry: At one point, the Heeler sisters playfully blow raspberries at each other.
  • Bottle Episode: The episode features only Bandit, Bluey and Bingo (plus Chilli on the phone and the takeaway shop owner). It is set entirely in front of the takeaway.
  • Butt-Monkey: The episode has Bandit's patience tested to the point he'd rather leave without his spring rolls.
  • Calling Your Bathroom Breaks: Bingo says, "I need to do a wee."
  • Chicken-and-Egg Paradox: In 'Takeaway', Bingo randomly asks "If grown-ups grow from babies, and only grown-ups can have babies, who had the first baby?"
  • Continuity Nod: When Bluey asks how long five minutes (the estimated time for the spring rolls to cook) is, Bandit says that it's "a quarter of a third of Chunky Chimp", which is the movie the three of them watched in "Movies".
  • Does Not Like Spam: According to Bandit, the girls don't like spicy food.
  • Double-Meaning Title: The episode revolves around Bandit picking up Chinese takeaway for dinner. And in the climax, the "takeaway" he gets from the fortune cookie is to allow his daughters to enjoy their youth while they still can.
  • Extreme Omnivore: Defied. Bingo asks if she can eat some plants that are growing from the drain, but Bandit says no.
  • Furry Reminder: A passing car blows the newspaper off the table, and Bingo barks before retrieving them in her mouth with her tail wagging.
  • Know When to Fold 'Em: Bandit comes close to leaving the spring rolls after Bingo asks him one of the universe's most daunting questions.
  • Line-of-Sight Alias: Bingo calls herself Tap Girl in the restaurant game upon seeing the dripping tap.
  • Lost Food Grievance: Downplayed when Bandit sees that Bingo spilled the food and shouts, "Hey! My dinner!".
  • Nature Tinkling: Bingo has a Potty Emergency and Bandit can't get her to a bathroom in time, so he holds her up behind a bush in order to do her thing.
  • Non-Standard Character Design: The takeaway husky had blue irises, while every nearly every other character in the show has solid black ones.
  • Potty Dance: Downplayed when Bingo holds her crotch when she needs to pee.
  • Potty Emergency: When Bandit asks if Bingo can hold her pee until they get home, she claims to be "busting".
  • Slapstick: Bandit slips on some spilled food and falls over backwards.
  • Smart Ball: Bingo is normally just an average four-year-old girl, but here, she briefly becomes smart enough to know what an atom is.
  • Speak in Unison: The girls say at once, "See ya, Mum!" after the conversation with Chilli.
