Beavis And Butt Head S 9 E 10 Home Aide Recap

In a timeline where Beavis and Butt-Head grew to middle age, Old Beavis gets a job as a home aide, only to find his client is Old Butt-Head.

Tropes:

  • The Alcoholic: Because he's now old enough, Old Beavis thinks he's an "alcoholic but with beer" with his favorite beverage being Saint Ides.
  • Ambiguous Situation: How exactly the duo have been unemployed since 1999 is uncertain. We're not informed if the Burger World manager finally got fed up with them and fired the duo, which seems out-of-character given how much he tolerated them in the original series (he did nearly fire them in "Bathroom Break", but the 2011 revival now falls under Canon Discontinuity). It's also uncertain if they just decided to up and quit of their own accord for some unspecified reason, and Beavis, being as dumb as he is, thought it meant getting "fired". And it's also not confirmed if the higher-ups in the Burger World conglomerate decided to seriously flex their corporate muscles and fired the two (and the Highland manager for good measure on account of his gross incompetence) because it was finally brought to their attention that Highland's Burger World was severely underperforming and they decided something had to be done.
  • Call-Back: Old Beavis finally got worker's compensation, having tried and failed at that back in "Work is Death".
  • Contrived Coincidence: The person whom Beavis is assigned to assist in the Home Aide program just so happens to be Butt-Head, who lives in the same apartment as Beavis.
  • Dope Slap:
    • Old Butt-Head slaps Old Beavis with his cane when they're in the store, which escalates into him repeatedly running the latter over with his rascal.
    • He slaps Old Beavis during the video. According to Old Beavis, there is a normal routine between the two where as "The Great Butt-Head-ini" Butt-Head will predict he sees "a smack in his future" and then smack him, and the two have done it so often that it no longer phases Old Beavis.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Implied. In this timeline, Beavis and Butt-Head got fired from Burger World in 1999, suggesting that the manager was finally done with their behavior and let them go. However, this is never elaborated on.
  • Dramatic Irony: Considering the job, Old Beavis technically never had to do any work; he and Old Butt-Head could've continued to live the way they were. Instead, Old Butt-Head acts as The Millstone and forces Old Beavis to pamper him, until he can't take it anymore.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Old Butt-Head is depicted as being so obese that he requires a cane to walk and a rascal outside the house, and he is depicted as much more obese than his other appearances, suggesting this weight gain was only for this episode or the other episodes take place before this one. He is also shown to be thinner in the music video segments and during the intro, lending more credence to the former.
  • Fat Bastard: Old Butt-Head has gained a massive amount of weight, and his demeanor has only gotten worse. He insists that he and Beavis not get jobs and only live off of unemployment.
  • Formerly Fit: While calling Butt-Head 'fit' is a bit of a stretch, he was thin and in relatively decent shape as a teenager. As an adult — with years of living off junk food and drinking, among other things — he is morbidly obese and balding, using a cane and a mobility scooter to get around.
  • Hollywood Heart Attack: Old Butt-Head had one in the past, but because he saw God telling him to stay just how he was, he hasn't learned anything from it.
  • Heh Heh, You Said "X": Old Beavis and Old Butt-Head live on Dixon Street.
  • Near-Death Experience: Old Butt-Head had a Hollywood Heart Attack according to the music video segment, but learned nothing from the experience because he saw God telling him to stay the way he was.
  • Never Learned to Read: Smart Beavis and Smart Butt-Head write "United Federation" on their spaceship as "Yunitd Fedrashun."
  • New Job Episode: The duo are out of money, so Old Beavis goes to get more unemployment. However, his benefits have ran out, and as he has no skills or qualifications beyond donating bodily fluids and a high school diploma, he is given the job of home aide.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Old Butt-Head apparently forced Old Beavis to give him a bath during the week he worked as the home aide.
    • In the music video, the duo mention that Old Butt-Head had a heart attack, which resulted in his getting a massive insurance bill he refuses to pay.
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: Quoth the morbidly obese couch potato that is Butt-Head:
Butt-Head: I pretended I was a fat dumbass who never gets off his couch.
  • Self-Abuse: Old Beavis sells sperm "kind of everywhere" for money, which the episode uses to continue portraying him as pathetic.
  • Shout-Out: Smart Beavis and Smart Butt-Head present the episode much like the Watcher from What If? (Marvel Comics)
  • They Call Me MISTER Tibbs!: Old Butt-Head forces Old Beavis to call him Mr. Butt-Head, or else he'll get him fired.
  • Younger Than They Look: Thanks to their unhealthy lifestyles, Old Beavis and Old Butt-Head look much older than their 40s, especially Old Beavis.
