Recap / Beavis And Butt Head S 01 E 1 Door To Door

Go To

Beavis and Butt-Head have to go door-to-door to collect for charity as part of an assignment by Mr. Van Driessen.

  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: In her letter to Van Driessen, Mistress Cora presents herself as a kindly old lady.
  • Bowdlerise: In the Still Stupid PAL VHS tape, Beavis flickering his lighter in school is cut.
  • Comically Missing the Point:
    • One of the potential donors turns out to have lost his job recently, and takes Beavis and Butt-Head's jar after they tell him they're collecting for the poor.
    • When Beavis and Butt-Head tell the drunk they're collecting for the poor to help them buy meals, the drunk gives them a "meal" by vomiting on their jar.
  • Dominatrix: Mistress Cora Anthrax.
  • Door-to-Door Episode: This episode involves Beavis and Butt-Head going door-to-door for an assignment.
  • Double Standard Rape: Female on Male: Mistress Cora raping the boys is Played for Laughs.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness:
    • This episode (along with the next two episodes) has a completely different title card, which shows a still frame from the episode instead of a sky background. Also, the title is rendered in the same typeface used in the music videos and credits instead of the more familiar jagged font. Later home media releases updated the title cards.
    • The drunk who vomits on Beavis and Butt-Head's jar has a ridiculously long head, something that would be absent from other characters aside from the duo later on.
  • Fan Disservice: Mistress Cora Anthrax is an elderly lady wearing a dominatrix outfit. Sexy.
  • Larynx Dissonance: Mistress Cora is voiced by Mike Judge, who gives her a deep, masculine voice.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed:
    • The woman on TV saying "Please! Just pennies a day..." is obviously based on Sally Struthers.
    • An Alex Trebek-style man can be seen briefly on TV.
  • Oh, Crap!: Beavis and Butt-Head when Van Driessen tells them to read a book for a report, when Mistress Cora prepares to rape them, and when Van Driessen reveals the letter sent by Mistress Cora.
  • Shout-Out: Mistress Cora's line "Yes, that Madonna book was worth every penny" references the latter's then recently-published book Sex, which depicted sadomasochism.
  • Take That!: In one music video, Butt-Head asks "Isn't that dude from '92010'?", and Beavis replies "That show sucks".
  • Tempting Fate: Before the boys enter the final house, Beavis says "Maybe this house, it'll be a beautiful chick". Turns out it was Mistress Cora.
  • Vinyl Shatters: At the end, Mr. Van Driessen rewards Beavis and Butt-Head with LPs from his own collection. The duo ends up using the records like Frisbees, and one of them shatters noisily.
  • Vomit Indiscretion Shot: One man the boys visit vomits on their jar as a "meal". While we see him from behind as he does so, his vomit can be seen.
