     For Want of a Nail - Video Games (Fourth Generation) 
  • The SNES-CD's processor is a 32-bit RISC processor clocked at 15 megahertz. The SNES-CD launches in Japan in November 1992, in America in April 1993 and in PAL regions in June 1993.
  • In October 1992, Nintendo and Sony scrap the Virtual Boy, creating a rift between them and Gunpei Yokoi that results in the latter leaving Nintendo.
  • The NES is discontinued early into the SNES-CD's life, butterflying the top-loader model and leaving Mega Man 6 stuck in Japan.
  • Dragon Quest V is an SNES-CD exclusive, being a launch title for the Japanese Super Famicom CD.
  • The SNES-CD version of Mortal Kombat I includes the blood code. As a result, the SNES-CD and Genesis versions outsell the censored cartridge SNES version overwhelmingly.
  • Secret of Mana is designed with the SNES-CD in mind, featuring a branching storyline and 11 minutes of Akira Toriyama animated cutscenes.
  • Final Fantasy V is localized on the cartridge SNES as Final Fantasy III.
  • Final Fantasy VI is a cartridge SNES exclusive that features a vocalized opera with Maria sung by Kristin Chenoweth, Draco sung by Luciano Pavarotti and Ralse sung by Bryn Terfel. The vocals were added in the localized version, and Wolfteam allowed Square to use their sample streaming driver for this.
  • Sega continues to support the Sega CD until the Saturn launches. One title released for the Sega CD is Phantasy Star IV, which contains an anime theme song and anime cutscenes.
  • The Mockball trick in Super Metroid is discovered soon after the game's release, and appeared in the November 1994 issue of Nintendo Power.
  • Donkey Kong Country is an SNES-CD exclusive with graphics exceeding what is possible on the cartridge-based SNES.
  • Tale Phantasia started out as a cartridge SNES game, but ended up being the first 2-disc SNES-CD game and one of the best RPGs of all time.
  • The Amiga CD-32 is discontinued after 5 months, and Kang Fu had its development shifted to the SNES-CD after the failure of the Amiga CD-32.
  • The Atari Jaguar has worse sales than in canon due to competition from the SNES-CD, resulting in the Atari Jaguar CD being cancelled and Atari going bankrupt sooner.
  • Resident Evil launches for the SNES-CD, and pushes the system to it's limits.
  • Hong Kong '97 has the full I Love Beijing Tiananmen song loop and actually has sound effects. Despite this, it still is one of the worst games ever made.
  • I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream was released simultaneously on Windows, Mac and SNES-CD in 1995, with multiple endings including one unique to TTL.

     For Want of a Nail - Video Games (Fifth Generation) 
  • The Sega Saturn uses a Silicon Graphics processor, can play VCDs, and doesn't have it's launch bungled, and as a result maintains strong third party support.
  • The first game in the MythWar franchise releases on the SNES-CD and Saturn in 1996, launching a multimedia franchise that includes films and TV shows.
  • The first three Dragon Quest games get an enhanced remake for the Saturn that is as grinding-heavy as their NES counterparts.
  • Due to the Game Boy Color being released in 1996 with a 56-color palette, The Tiger Game.com includes a color screen with a 27 color palette.
  • Acclaim divests itself from LJN in 1998, who continue to exist and create Marvel games for another decade.

     For Want of a Nail - Video Games (Sixth Generation) 
  • Panasonic and Bandai sign a deal in 1993, resulting in TTL's Wonderswan using mini-CDs.
  • In response to both the Wonderswan and Game Boy Nova having much stronger capabilities than their prototype, SNK cancels the Neo Geo Pocket.
  • The Dreamcast uses DVDs, is backwards compatible with Saturn games and launches in December 1999 to great success.
  • Tetris: The Grand Master 2 gets localized for the Dreamcast, Poseidon and Xbox as Tetris The Grand Master: The Absolute. The console versions support version-specific leaderboards.

     For Want of A Nail - Movies 
  • Batman Forever has Billy Dee Williams as Two-Face, and concludes the Burtonverse Trilogy before the DC Cinematic Universe launches in 1996.
  • The Mask II ends up getting made, and it's on this film's set where the Nerd meets Jennifer Morrison.
  • John Williams scores all seven Harry Potter films.
  • The first MythWar film is the directorial debut of Rian Johnson, and is often considered among the best video game movies of all time.

     For Want of A Nail - Western Animation 
  • Ted Turner rejects the acquisition of his IP's by Warner Bros., resulting in Kids' WB continuing to exist as of 2023.

     For Want of A Nail - Sports 
  • The Philadelphia Sixers break their own record for worst NBA team in the 2013-14 season.

     For Want of A Nail - Real Life 
  • Polly Klaas survives when Richard Allen Davis tripped over the SNES-CD Combo unit, and went on to be a famous speedrunner.
  • Al Gore wins the 2000 Election by winning Florida by 5,000 votes, butterflying the Iraq War.
  • The Son of Beast coaster at King's Island collapses on June 1, 2006, ending 21 lives and crippling seven survivors.
