Basic Trope: An arrow that does things that arrows do not generally do.
- Straight: Arcus has an array of special arrows: a grappling-hook arrow, an explosive arrow, a fire-extinguishing arrow, and a net arrow, along others.
- Exaggerated: Arcus has an arrow for literally every occasion, including many that don't come up often and many devices that are probably better off not as arrows.
- Downplayed:
- The arrows are only trick arrows that can exist in real life: such as whistling arrows, or poisoned arrows.
- Depleted Phlebotinum Arrowheads.
- Justified: The gun was never invented in Arcus's universe, but gunpowder was. Some bright spark put two and two together, and the bomb arrow was born.
- Inverted:
- The bow is tricky, but the arrows are normal.
- Arcus uses Abnormal Ammo instead: Rather than a fire-retardant arrow, he just shoots a fire extinguisher.
- Subverted: Arcus says "I've got a special arrow, just for you..." and then fires a perfectly ordinary arrow.
- Double Subverted: It turns out it's a tracking arrow.
- Parodied:
- Arcus has arrows with such banal purposes as "Wi-fi connecter arrow" or "Get beer from the fridge arrow."
- Arcus has a Rummage Fail and has to frantically search for the arrow he actually needs.
- Arcus has never actually seen a normal arrow, and is frightened when he does. "You could hurt someone with that!"
- Zig Zagged: Arcus has a quiver full of reality-warping arrows, but as everyone knows he has them they're frequently targeted, meaning he often has to make do with ordinary arrows.
- Averted: All arrows are the normal, pointy kind.
- Enforced: The show is aimed for all-ages, and the writers feel that a net arrow is slightly more plausible than consistently hitting a Knife Outline on every single crook.
- Lampshaded:
- "Even with a bow, if it's worth doing it's worth overdoing."
- "Do you even have any normal arrows?"
- Invoked: Realising that arrows were as useful as bullets against many superhumans, while being too lethal to stun normal humans, Arcus decided to improve his arsenal.
- Exploited:
- Hiro borrows Arcus's quiver, figuring that something in it will be useful for his current situation.
- Evulz sets Arcus' quiver aflame, and then watches the fireworks as all those arrows detonate.
- Defied: "As useful as a fire-extinguishing arrow would be, I just don't have the tech to miniaturise it that much, so I just carry a regular fire extinguisher. "
- Discussed: "So are your arrows special, or are they just... arrow-arrows?"
- Conversed: "Shame we don't have arrows like that in real life..."
- Deconstructed: Arcus realises that he's better off selling the technology used to make his arrows than using them in crime-fighting, and retires to a quiet life of charity work and occasional bribery.
- Reconstructed: Arcus tried to sell his arrows, but the military pointedly mentioned they don't use bows anymore. He turns to superhero work to prove the effectiveness of his inventions.
- Played For Laughs: Everyone thinks that the boxing glove arrow is completely stupid. Which is exactly why Arcus still uses it.
