Do your thing, Honey
''I can love myself, and still have love for you
When you're winning, doesn't mean I lose
Come correct 'cause there's room enough for everybody
Don't you want it? What everybody needs
Love for you, know you got love for me
World is big enough for everybody's dreams, room for yours and mine
I believe that love is a state of mind that will bring us all together
— "Love is a State of Mind"

Honey Redmond (Born June 21st, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois) better known as Honey Dijon is an American DJ and House Music producer.

Discography:

Studio albums
  • The Best of Both Worlds (2017)
  • Black Girl Magic (2022)

Honey Dijon and her work includes examples of:

  • Animated Music Video: The videos for "Not About You," "La Femme Fantastique," and "Downtown" are animated.
  • Bigger Is Better in Bed: Based on her use of "Hateful Head Helen" in many of her sets, it would seem she holds this to be true.
"Yeah, It's me. Just stopping by to let you know I won't be needing your little dick services any longer!"
  • Break-Up Song: "It's Quiet Now" is about the feeling of freedom after leaving a bad relationship.
  • Cluster F-Bomb: During some live shows, and in her set for Apple Music, she will play a vocal sample of "The Sensuous Black Woman" which contains a wildly raunchy version of this.
"Sensuous Black Man, I want you to fuck me baby, I mean FUCK ME, FUCK ME! FUCK ME!! FUCK ME!!"
  • Deliberately Monochrome: The music video for "It's Quiet Now" is entirely shot in black and white.
  • Genre Throwback: Her style of production and djing pays great homage to the early days of House Music in The '80s and The '90s, which she grew up with in house's hometown of Chicago.
  • Obligatory Bondage Song: "Personal Slave" is exactly this. The song is a dark and driving tech house track with wildly kinky vocals and the single cover features Honey wearing nothing but a ball gag.
  • Remix Album: The Xtra EP is made up of Remixes from The Best of Both Worlds
  • Sampling: As is traditional with House Music, Honey does this quite frequently in her live sets.
    • Her Boiler Room set contains samples from "I Wish" by Stevie Wonder, "Hateful Head Helen," "Catch the Beat" by herself and Cakes da Killa, "Ain't Nobody" by Chaka Khan, and even Martin Luther King's I Have a Dream speech.
    • For her 2024 New Year's Eve set (for Apple Music) she sampled "Erotica" by Madonna, "Miss Honey" by Moi Renee, "Bodak Yellow" by Cardi B, various clips from Paris Is Burning, "Din daa daa" by George Kranz, "The Sensuous Black Woman" by Rudy Ray Moore, and a quote from Octavia St. Laurent.
  • Shout-Out: In "La Femme Fantastique" a deep voice introduces her: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Miss Honey Dijon." This is likely a reference to her favorite music video "Slave To The Rhythm" by Grace Jones who is introduced in a similar fashion.
