Shun and Megumi
Kawaii Joushi o Komarasetai (also know as I Want to Annoy the Pretty Boss in english) is an ongoing Romantic Comedy that began serialization in 2015.
Ira Megumi is a 31 year old career woman who has given up on love, but after a night of hard drinking at a company party, she wakes up the next day to find herself naked in bed with the young new employee, Aoki Shun. Megumi is mortified but worse still Shun now wants to begin dating, what is Megumi who has never once thought of love going to do now?
Tropes:
- Age-Gap Romance: Megumi is 31, while Shun is 23. Shun doesn't care at all, but Megumi has a lot of angst regarding it and sometimes she feels that she is robbing Shun of his youthful experiences.
- Bedmate Reveal: How the manga begins with both Megumi and Shun naked in bed together, though its later revealed nothing actually happened.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Due in part to her overall insecurities Megumi does not take it well when Shun hangs out with other women, though Shun usually takes it in stride, liking that it confirms her feelings for him. He even uses Shiori at one point to make her jealous when she first tried to keep distance between the two, though he later apologizes to both.
- Contrived Coincidence: Megumi and Shiori keep randomly meeting up despite living in a large city, first they both end up taking the same night school classes on cooking, then in a later volume when Megumi and Kuroki join a gym it turns out to be the one that Shiori works at as a personal trainer.
- Even the Girls Want Her: Megumi attracts the eye of many characters, including women. Kuroki Luna is heavily hinted to be in love with her (until chapter 74 more or less outright states it.) and even Shiori is shown at times to find her attractive.
- Incompatible Orientation: Kuroki Luna is heavily hinted to be in love with Megumi. In chapter 74 Shiori tells Kuroki that while she is in love with Shun, she still wants him and Megumi to be happy though she can't help but feel jealous, Kuroki tells her they are in the same boat then. Shiori asks if she too is in love with Shun, only for Kuroki to immediately shoot the idea down, when Shiori becomes confused Kuroki smiles and says there is another person in the couple besides Shun right.
- Kissing Cousins: Aoki Shiori is in love with her cousin Shun, but Shun himself only sees her as family, and is in-fact weirded out by her desire.
- Lady Killer In Love: Shun is very popular with women and constantly exchanges numbers with the various women in the company, but despite Megumi's occasional bouts of jealousy, Shun has shown to be nothing but completely faithful to her, even when he lets his ex stay at his apartment he sleeps on the couch and makes it clear to both her and Megumi nothing is ever going to happen.
- Ms. Fanservice: While Megumi might think she is to old to be attractive, Shun and the manga itself strongly disagree, with Megumi being a constant source of fanservice in the work.
- Nice Guy: Teasing aside its shown that more than anything that Shun's most defining trait is just how much of a nice guy he is.
- Ship Tease: Shiori and Kuroki get some in volume 6 as the two bond over their failed love lives.
- Why Can't I Hate You?: Shiori is in love with Shun, but ultimately after getting to know Megumi finds herself liking the other woman too much to hate her, even eventually becoming a shipper on deck, though she confides to Kuroki that while she wants them both to be happy she is still a little jealous.
