Fanfic / Total Switched Series

Go To

Total Switched Series is a Total Drama fanfic by Cody Fanatic. It switches around who participates in a season. A 1st gen contestant could be in a 2nd or 3rd gen season and so on. How will the situations go? Who will be the new winners?

Total Switched Island introduces twenty-two teenagers to the first season. Among the twenty-two are Amy (The Volleyball Queen), Beth (The Wannabe), Brick (The Cadet), Cody (The Geek), Courtney (The Type-A), Dawn (The Moonchild), Duncan (The Delinquent), Ella (The Fairytale Princess), Eva (The Female Bully), Ezekiel (The Home-Schooled Guy), Harold (The Dweeb), Heather (The Queen Bee), Jo (The Take No Prisoners Machine), Lightning (The Athletic Overachiever), Lindsay (The Dumb Princess), Mike (The Comedian), Noah (The Schemer), Owen (The Funniest Guy Around), Rodney (The Country Boy), Sadie (The Thrill Seeker), Shawn (The Conspiracy Nut), and Sky (The Athlete). One contestant gets into an accident, two people try to be more assertive under someone's control, a player finds themselves confused on who they should be allies with, and a few campers even steal from one another. It's a summer they won't forget as they battle for a hundred thousand dollars.

Total Switched Action brings back sixteen out of the twenty-two contestants back for a second season. Amy, Beth, Brick, Courtney, Dawn, Duncan, Harold, Heather, Jo, Lightning, Lindsay, Mike, Noah, Rodney, Shawn, and Sky compete this season, while Blaineley and Josh host the Aftermath.

This story contains examples of:

  • Accidental Kiss: Cody and Heather accidentally kiss each other during the Yukon. This leads Heather to try and forget about it.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • Harold was Duncan's main bullying target in the original show. Here, even though Duncan pranked Harold at first, he grows to respect him and even decided to stop bullying him in the 14th episode. Harold also befriends him as well.
    • While they have their differences, Duncan is more willing to team up with Noah to find the case in contrast to canon where they despised each other.
    • Sadie disliked Ezekiel for his sexism in the original work. In this version, Sadie is friends with Ezekiel once he apologizes for his comments and a few Ship Tease of them is even shown.
  • Adaptational Badass: Amy and Ezekiel use their volleyball and archery skills, respectively, in the dodgeball challenge to help their team win and partake in all five rounds. Neither did much to help their team in canon.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: Some characters from Revenge of the Island and Pahkitew Island debut in Island. Brick, Dawn, Jo, Lightning, and Mike from the Revenge season and Amy, Ella, Rodney, Shawn, and Sky from the Pahkitew season. Topher also debuts earlier than Pahkitew, but in World Tour as one of the two new contestants.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: Sadie is less scatterbrained and more aware about the game. Her stupid moments (squatting down in poison ivy, getting separated from her team) are also removed.
  • Adaptational Late Appearance: Izzy debuts in World Tour as one of the two new contestants rather than appearing first in Island.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
    • While she still retains her snarkiness, Amy is more cooperative and has none of her Alpha Bitch tendencies, instead being characterized as simply a competitive Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
    • Duncan is nicer in this story than canon. He manages to befriend Harold despite bullying him originally and with Gwen not competing in the first season and he and Courtney never talking to each other, his jerky moments are toned down.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Amy goes from a cheerleader who aggressively bullies her twin sister to a volleyball captain who's focused on winning.
  • Alternate Universe: The series is what the canon series could've been like if everyone's got put into different seasons.
  • Amicable Exes: Dawn and Harold become this as revealed in the Celebrity Manhunt special.
  • Arch-Enemy: To say Heather and Jo don't like each other is an understatement.
    • There's also Mike and Mal from the third season.
  • Ascended Extra: Cody and Harold, two of Island's canonical early boots, manage to merge and have bigger plotlines.
  • Ascended Fan: Topher, a major fan of Chris, joins the cast in World Tour.
  • Asshole Victim: It's hard to feel sorry for Heather being accused of taking the tiki doll from Boney Island considering how self-serving and mean she's been towards her team.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Scott's ending in Revenge of the Island can qualify as such.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: Sadie joins Heather's alliance because the latter came up to her and (fake) offered an opportunity to be companions.
  • Better as Friends: Downplayed with Sky and Mike. They never date, and despite some moments that lead to Ship Tease, they stay friends and don't have crushes on each other.
    • Played straight with Dawn and Harold, who break up before Celebrity Manhunt because of this trope.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Sky is normally rational, but she threw Beth off the cliff and into the water after being chased by her during the paintball challenge.
  • Big Bad: Each season has a main antagonist.
    • Jo for Island.
    • Heather for Action.
    • Mal for World Tour.
    • Scott for Revenge of the Island.
    • Alejandro for Pahkitew Island.
  • Blackmail: Jo threatens to tell everyone about Beth actually taking the doll if she doesn't work with her. Beth complies, not wanting everyone to hate her.
  • The Cameo:
    • Cody in "Ocean's Nine or Eight."
    • Eva in "Million Dollar Babies."
    • Sadie in "Canada's Mightiest Heroes."
    • Ella in "The Princess Pride."
    • Owen in "Crouching Courtney, Hidden Heather."
    • Ezekiel in "Top Dog."
    • Duncan and Jo both return in "I See London...," the former as the captured guy and the latter as the Ripper.
    • The whole first generation appear in "Bigger! Badder! Brutal-er!" Owen also gets an extended one by himself where he asks Chris about why they've been replaced.
    • Izzy in "Finders Creepers", when she is hired by Chris to dress up as a mutant spider to catch the campers.
    • Brick in "Backstabbers Ahoy!", where he demonstrates the challenge by blowing up one of the water mines.
    • Lindsay in "Runaway Model", where she is a judge for the fashion challenge, and is abducted by Sasquatchanakwa.
    • E-Clone in "A Mine is a Terrible Thing to Waste", where he is revealed to have snuck in the mine with Max.
    • Amy in "The Treasure Island of Dr. McLean", where she is buried in a treasure chest with Katie for the teams to dig up.
    • Duncan in "Grand Chef Auto", where he blows up Mount Chrismore.
    • Heather in "Up, Up, and Away in my Pitiful Balloon", where she demonstrates the first part of the challenge.
    • Rodney in "Eat, Puke, and Be Wary", where he is brought against his will to judge the final four's cooking dishes.
    • There are cameo appearances at the end of the All-Stars chapters, where the characters would go and retrieve the flushed contestant of the day from wherever in the world they ended up. These include:
      • Sierra for Anne Maria.
      • Eva for Noah.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Mike was heavily neglected by his parents who fought with each other a lot. After his parents died by a car crash, Mike was sent to foster care until a family adopted him. Mike gained his DID from the tragedy, and it made some people see him as really odd.
  • Dead Fic: Hasn't been updated since the fourth chapter of "All-Stars".
  • Defeat Means Respect: Duncan is impressed by Beth taking him out of episode 9's challenge.
  • Demoted to Extra: Courtney and Owen, both major characters in canon, are eliminated very early.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: In the canoe episode, Heather whacks Ella in the head with a paddle... simply because Ella was peacefully singing a song.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Jo never wanted Dawn to be injured, just neutralized as a threat in the challenge.
  • Frame-Up: Jo steals Beth's tiki doll to plant it on Heather and get her eliminated.
  • Gasshole: Owen still retains his fart jokes, but they're less acceptable with his teammates this time around.
  • In Spite of a Nail: The vastly different casts still don't change some things.
    • Several characters still compete in the same seasons and teams as in the canon show. These include:
      • Island: Beth, Cody, Courtney, Duncan, Eva, Ezekiel, Harold, Heather, Lindsay, Noah, Owen, and Sadie all still debut in this season.
      • Action: Beth, Courtney, Duncan, Harold, Heather, and Lindsay all still compete.
      • World Tour: Cody, Duncan, Ezekiel, Heather, Lindsay, Noah, and Owen all still compete.
      • Revenge of the Island: Anne Maria, B, and Scott all still debut in this season.
      • Pahkitew Island: Beardo, Jasmine, Leonard, and Sugar all still debut in this season.
      • All Stars: Alejandro, Gwen, Heather, Jo, Lindsay, Scott and Zoey all still compete.
    • Canon couples Dakota/Sam and Izzy/Owen all still get together.
    • Mike, Shawn, and Sky all still become finalists.
  • Just Friends: Mike and Sky do not get in a relationship with each other and stay best friends despite some accidental Ship Tease between them in the first season.
  • Non-Gameplay Elimination: This happens several times during the series, with ROTI and All-Stars 2 being the only seasons so far not to have one.
    • Island:
      • In "That's Off the Chain", Dawn is eliminated after being attacked by piranhas.
    • Action:
      • In "Top Dog", Heather is disqualified for not bringing her animal buddy back with her.
    • World Tour:
      • In "Jamaica Me Sweat", Owen ends up being medevaced after being crushed by the plane.
      • In "African Lying Safari", Owen is disqualified again, this time for not singing.
      • Just like canon, Chris disqualifies someone for blowing up the jumbo jet, this time being Topher, albeit under different circumstances.
    • Revenge of the Island:
      • In "The Treasure Island of Dr. McLean", Sierra is medevaced due to her injuries from the alligators.
    • Pahkitew Island:
      • In "T-Minus Six", Leonard quits before there's even an elimination ceremony after the events of the episode.
  • Odd Friendship:
    • Beth and Duncan bond over their love of horror movies despite being completely different from each other in terms of how they act.
    • Dave and Molly become friends despite the former being germophobic and the latter being comfortable out in the woods.
    • Bridgette and Leonard are good allies and teammates, even though their sanities are different.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Brick can fall into this trope if he's either scared of injured, such as breaking his wrists or running away from the psycho killer.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Jo immediately resorts to getting back at camp right away once she's stranded. It takes her a long time to reach the camp though.
  • Ship Tease: In the Playa des Losers episode, Courtney admits to having an interest in Brick.
  • Sweet Tooth: As in canon, Cody can't help himself when it comes to sugary food. At one point, he has to throw up due to eating too many ice cream sandwiches.
  • Team Pet: Dawn calls her pet rabbit, Luna, the Killer Bass' team pet after finding her.
  • The Stations of the Canon: Heather still steals Eva's mp3 player (but has Sadie do it and in a different episode), the remaining Bass males still prank Harold, and Beth still takes the tiki from Boney Island (though she doesn't get eliminated because of it).
