What would happen if Ranma Saotome got fed up with his life in Nerima and decides to not only terminate the engagements, but leave Nerima entirely?
One day too much of the usual, and Ranma snaps. He storms out of the Tendo home and vanishes, leaving the lives that had orbited him in ruins. He enters college (carefully out of sight of the Nerimaniacs) and finds himself sharing a dorm bathroom with his next-door neighbor: Megumi Morisato. Meanwhile, Akane has gone goth and seems to have moved on with her life — but secretly she and Ranma are seeing each other. Of course, this can't last...
Ranma's Apartment
is a fanfic that answers that question. Written by Chris Jones, this fanfic follows Ranma as he leaves Nerima behind to start over. Akane, for her part, must come to terms with her feelings for Ranma, or risk losing him forever.
The story is in four parts. However, it remains unfinished, and with part four having been uploaded in 2001, it'll most likely stay that way..
The fanfic has the following tropes:
- Actually Pretty Funny: After she gets over the fact that Ranma had pulled a fast one on her, Nabiki realizes that Akane had spent the night with Ranma (whom Nabiki saw in her cursed form) and laughs herself to sleep.
- And This Is for...: Ranma to Kunou.
- Anguished Declaration of Love: Akane to Ranma.Akane: I love you, you mean, insensitive, sex-changing jerk, and I'll never give you up. Not to Shampoo, not to Ukyou, not to Kodachi, or anyone else!

- Berserk Button: Calling Akane a "whore" to Ranma's face and injuring Akane is this for Ranma. And the Kunou siblings are the ones who pressed both buttons.

- Curb-Stomp Battle: When Ranma snaps, he takes it out on the rivals and the fiancées; (Kunou and later, Happosai being ejected from the property by the Hiryu Shoten Ha, Kodachi tied up with her own ribbon and Shampoo and Ukyou running off after Ranma chews the both of them out).
- Female Angel, Male Demon: Belldandy and Keiichi's costumes respectively for the Halloween party. And it tends to freak people out.
- Girl on Girl Is Hot: Nabiki discovers that Akane's new beau is female when she discovers them making out. Turns out that it was Ranma.
- I Gave My Word: Inadvertently for Nabiki, as Akane said that no one is to say what happens at the Halloween party, and once Nabiki finds out Ranma's location, Kasumi forces Nabiki to honor the agreement.
- Not on the List: The Halloween party's check-in list consists of people who are not allowed inside, mainly Ranma's suitors and rivals.
- Not What It Looks Like: Akane walks in on Ranma...and Kodachi clad in lingerie.

- Ryouga, when Skuld reveals his curse to Akane.
