Doris Breamer Hare, MBE, (1 March 1905 — 30 May 2000), was a British actress best known for playing Mrs. Butler in On the Buses.
She began acting at the age of three, eventually going solo under the name "Little Doris Hare" in music hall, variety, cabaret, revues, and pantomimes.
At the very beginning of the Soap Opera Coronation Street, she was offered the role of Ena Sharples. However, Hare turned it down and the role went to Violet Carson. Hare played two small roles in the series before returning for a slightly larger part as Alice Pickens at the end of The '60s.
Around the same time, she was cast as Mrs. Butler in On the Buses from its second series onwards; The role was previously played by Cicely Courtneidge. Hare stayed as Mrs. Butler for the rest of the series, plus the three spin-off films. Another motherly role taken over by Hare was Mrs. Lea in the Confessions of a... Series - Dandy Nichols had played the role in the first installment, and Hare was present for the final three.
She died at the age of 95.
