The Stash Riders:
The Scribble
The protagonist and the narrator of the story. A young man of a lower class used to sex and substance abuse since the early age.
An aspiring writer, hence his name.- Character Narrator:
- Brother–Sister Incest: his sister Desdemona has been his lover since he was 15.
- The Fool
The Beetle
The Beetle is the leader of the Stash Riders and the gang's driver.
- Ambiguously Bi: Beetle sleeps with women, yet has his special relationship with Scribble, calling him "Baby".
- Addled Addict: After Scribble leaves the Stash Riders, Beetle gets hooked on Tapewormer feathers and turns into a zombie-like apathetic mess.
- Death Is Dramatic: starts slowly dying from a bullet that fills his body with coloured fractals, then has his last stand with the cops while shining brightly, literally.

- The Bully: Scribble remembers how Beetle used to give him hard times at school, to which Beetle responds "Good days."
- The Sociopath
Bridget
A low-level shadowgirl. She is a member of the Stash Riders and the Beetle's former lover. Later became a lover of Das Uberdog.
- Girly Girl: Especially contrasted with the fiery Mandy, Brid is more feminine, quiet and mysterious.
Mandy
A tough street girl, who joins the Stash Riders after Desdemona's disappearance.
- Action Girl: Mandy kicks ass both literally and metaphorically. Robo, shadows, cops - she faces them all totally cool. Spends lots of time in red and black feathers (the equivalents of violent and gory video games).
- Fiery Redhead: she fits this trope well.
The Thing From Outer Space
- Accidental Murder: He takes a bullet during the cop chase.
- Blob Monster: he is a fat sack of oily flesh with multiple orifices.
- Eldritch Abomination
- Fantastic Drug: His flesh IS the drug, tasting which sends the eater directly into Vurt.
- Innocent Aliens: The Thing is completely harmless.
- Starfish Language: Xha Xhi Xhsa Xhsa
Desdemona
A 15-year old girl who gets trapped in the virtual reality. Literally, a girl with a dragon tattoo.
- Damsel in Distress: the entire plot spins around finding and rescuing her.

Twinkle
A 10-year old girl, Scribble's neighbour, who is persistent to become a Stash Rider.
- Adorably Precocious Child: Twinkle is very mature for her age.
