Main Protagonists

     Billy

The Player Character. A shy, but imaginative young child, determined to bring the colors back to the World of Imagination.
  • Actual Pacifist: Billy never raises a hand against their opponents in battle, instead talking to them in order to understand their pain and how best to free them from their curse. The closest they come to being violent is letting their party members perform attacks to recolor the enemy.
  • All-Loving Hero: Billy's compassion for others is their greatest strength. Through it, they're able to relate to the people suffering from the Leviathan's curse andf figure out ways to give them their colors back. Their empathy extends to even the Leviathan himself, though they do need a pep talk from Mother Prisma to try.
  • Antagonistic Offspring: Since the Leviathan is the World of Imagination's counterpart to Billy's father, Billy's quest to save the world from the Leviathan's curse is really a metaphor for them gathering enough courage to finally stand up to their dad.
  • Even the Loving Hero Has Hated Ones:
    • While "hate" is a strong word, Billy isn't very fond of the Shopkeeper, due to his sleazy profit-focused nature. Though in their diary, they do admit that they admire the Shopkeeper's tenacity in keeping his business afloat.
    • Understandably, Billy isn't too fond of the Leviathan, describing him as "the biggest jerk" in their diary entry about him. Even after succesfully recoloring him, Billy admits that they still haven't forgiven him yet and don't know if they ever will, but still want to try and make up with him regardless.
  • Missing Mom: Their mother died in an accident. Billy slowly learnt to cope with living without her, but their father is a different story...
  • Mr. Imagination: Billy is repeatedly stated to be one of the most creative people, if not the most creative person, in the World of Imagination. In fact, the entire game takes place in their fantasy world, which they created to deal with their father's attempts to force them to grow up.
  • Nice Guy: Billy doesn't have a mean bone in their body and is always willing to help others out.
  • Shrinking Violet: Billy is so shy, that most of the time they leave the talking to Rodrigo or any other available friend. Mother Prisma even points out that more often than not they actively skirt around trying to assert themselves by letting Rodrigo stand up for them and that that isn't a healthy thing to do in the long-run.

     Rodrigo
A Punching Rod who joins Billy in their quest to save the World. He's a tad rude and easy to anger, but has his heart in the right place.
  • Big Brother Instinct: He develops this for Billy almost instantly, helping them on their journey, defending them from bullies and speaking on their behalf when they themselves are too shy to say anything.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: He's initially jealous of Giro's and Billy's close bond (even though he sorta denies it when Friend-Ship points it out) and gets testy about not being able to communicate with Billy silently like Giro appears to do. He gets over it eventually, after Friend-Ship tells him that Giro was the one to bring Billy back from a Despair Event Horizon in the past and acknowledges that he doesn't need to compete with Giro because they both care deeply about Billy.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: He can be sort of insensitive and isn't all that well-mannered but he's not a bad guy by any means.
  • Punny Name: He's a rod named Rodrigo.

Party Members

     In General

  • Brainwashed and Crazy: With the exception of Giro, they were all corrupted by the Leviathan's curse and makes them all act villainous until Billy helped them overcome their struggles.

     Giro
Billy's beloved pet, who has been with them for a very long time.
  • Determinator: When he was first given to Billy after the death of their mother they were too deep in their depression to even notice him and mostly ignored him. That didn't deter him in the slightest; Giro kept pushing Billy and trying to cheer them up and was eventually rewarded when his persistence finally pulled them out of their funk.
  • Foreshadowing: Like every other party member, Giro's character page in Billy's diary has a sticker of his evil version, which a first-time player might find weird since Giro joins the party on his own terms and was never affected by the Leviathan's curse. Shadow Billy ends up being the one turning Giro into his evil self, in an attempt to get Billy to hate them.

NPCs

     Friend-Ship
A living steamboat who ferries Billy through the World of Imagination's oceans.
  • Living Ship: She's a living steamboat with big, cartoony eyes.
  • Mama Bear: Like all of Billy's NPC friends, she can be called upon in the final battle against the Leviathan. If she is, she won't hesitate to call him out for his horrible treatment of Billy.
  • Team Mom: She's always caring and kind toward her passengers, making sure they're comfortable by creating specialized habitats for them and encouraging them to tackle their problems head-on while offering support for when they do.
  • Verbal Tic: Friend-Ship has a tendency to toot her horn at the end of each sentence.

     The Shopkeeper
An anthropomorphic peacock merchant, whose shop the "Shopstravaganza" seems to have stores everyhwere in the World of Imagination. Greedy and sleazy, but his wares are of good quality.
  • Bait-and-Switch: When encountered in Sunken Harbor, he claims he's there for altrusitic reasons. After all, there are many miserable people in Sunken Harbor - and the miserable are notoriously easy to swindle money out of.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": He's the Shopkeeper. He probably has an actual name, but Billy either doesn't know it or is uninterested in learning it.
  • Intrepid Merchant: Whether in the scary, hostile Dinolands or the deepest depths of Sunken Harbor, you'll eventually come across this guy and he'll be all too happy to take your money.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Implied. Billy notes in their diary that his father was also a shopkeep and a very succesful one at that. The Shopkeeper himself never mentions this, but seems pretty eager to keep the business afloat.

     Scissow
A handyman in Star Harbor and one of Billy's best friends.
  • Hidden Depths: Apart from being a skilled craftsman he's apparently also a very talented designer and tailor.
  • Pungeon Master: He constantly makes scissor-based puns. Billy isn't a fan.
  • Punny Name: His name is one letter off from "scissor" which is the tool his entire design is based around.

     Candle Mary
A shy citizen of Star Harbor.
