Season 1 Characters

     Chupacabra

Carlos Ramirez

The patriarch of the Ramirez family, who was given a chance to cross the Mexico-Arizona border.
  • Good Parents: Is a very loving and devoted father to his daughter Ava, happily celebrating Ava's birthday with her and even trying to get her and the rest of the family immigrated into America as an extended birthday present. This naturally makes it all the more saddening when he ends up getting killed by the chupacabra.

Maritza Ramirez

The matriarch of the Ramirez family, who - like Carlos - was given a chance to cross the Mexico-Arizona border.
  • Good Parents: Is a very loving and caring mother to her daughter Ava, which makes it all the more saddening when she ends up getting killed by the chupacabra.

Ava Ramirez

The daughter of the Ramirezes, she tried in vain to cross the Mexico-Arizona border after her parents were killed by the chupacabra.
  • Harmful to Minors: Ava is left traumatized by the encounter with the chupacabra that left her parents dead, and all on her birthday no less.
  • Raised by Grandparents: Ultimately ends up having to be placed under her grandparents care after her parents are killed by the chupacabra.
  • Sole Survivor: Is the only member of the family involved in the ill fated immigration attempt to make it to the end of the episode alive after the encounter with the chupacabra.

Tom Valentine

A US Border Patrol agent trying to thwart migrants from crossing illegally.

Martin Santino

Also the same with Tom.

     Bigfoot

Rachel Glen

A park ranger taking a stand against poachers, and is surprisingly helped by Bigfoot.
  • Action Girl: She confronted the poacher alone and was able to hold her own fairly well.
Rachel: Looking for me?
  • Forest Ranger: Rachel is a park ranger indeed. She mostly protects the park against poachers, with unexpected help from Bigfoot at the end, that is.

     Monster of Monterey

Sharon Novak

A journalist on her final leg of her solo sail.

     Swamp Creature

Diane Chasny

A college professor trying to figure out the wildlife in the Honey Island Swamp.

Ethan Chasny

Bud Ray

A hut resident who ends up having to guide the Chasny family out of the swamp after their supplies get absconded by a local alligator.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Does not take kindly to strangers wandering about in his campsite, and is not above threatening to leave those he guides behind if they can't keep up, but nonetheless takes the time to work to guide Diane and Ethan out of the swamp.
  • Scary Black Man: Is first introduced in a rather intimidating light when he catches Diane and Ethan seemingly snooping about his campsite and trying to steal his car. Fortunately, he ultimately proves willing to guide them out of the swamp.

     Oklahoma Octopus

Sean Conklin

A recent high school graduate and the one who organizes the ill-fated trip to the lake.
  • Handicapped Badass: Manages to successfully escape from the lake and avoid getting eaten by the octopus despite having one of his arms in a cast.
  • Nice Guy: Is very nice and good natured to his friends, but not without showing clear disapproval of Tyler's meanspirited pranks.

Tracy Miller

A recent high school graduate.

Tyler Shuman

Tyler is a prankster and class clown.
  • Bastard Boyfriend: Is a complete jackass to Tracy who shows zero respect whatsoever for how she feels.
  • Jerkass: Pulls meanspirited pranks on his friends, is frequently dismissive of his girlfriend's feelings and opinions, and spitefully tries to leave his friends behind in the center of the lake after they rightly call him out for an especially nasty prank.
  • The Prankster: Needless to say Tyler pulls pranks that leave his friends unamused.
  • Token Evil Teammate: Is the resident Jerkass of the group.

Bruce Delroy

A recent high school graduate.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He's just as disapproving of Tyler's antics as the rest of his friends.
  • Minority Couple: He is a black boy dating an Asian American girl, and the both of them are the only non-white members of the group.
  • Nice Guy: Is willing to try to save Tyler after he ends up yanked down under the water for real, despite the latter having acted like a grade A douchebag mere moments prior. He sadly ends up rewarded for his attempted heroism by getting grabbed and preyed upon by the same creature that had caught Tyler.
  • Token Black Friend: Is the only black member of the group.

Ruthie Simple

A recent high school graduate and girlfriend of Bruce.
  • Minority Couple: Serves as one half of such a pairing alongside her black boyfriend Bruce, with the two of them being the only non-white members of the group.
  • Nice Girl: Is one of the nicer members of the group.

     Devil Dragon

Jolene Sharrock

Sue Ann Mills

It was a demon.
A girl who was haunted by the Death Raptor.

Hazel Van Lear

When Hazel was just little, she lived in Mawnan. She later moved to Fallview for a new life, and that's when the Death Raptor flew from the UK to the USA to come after her.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Lets herself get caught and taken away by the owlman so that it won't take Sue Ann.
  • Tired of Running: Feeling she's lived long enough under the spectre of the Owlman, and eager to prevent Sue Ann from suffering the same terror that she herself had gone through, she allows herself to be caught by the Owlman so that it will drop its claim on the younger girl.

     Megaconda

Scott Sumner

Avid animal rights activist Scott is investigating claims that Ken Tobar was involved in the illicit wildlife trade.

Evan Medcaf

A photographer for Scott.

Ken Tobar

The wildlife trader at the center of the allegations involving the illicit wildlife trade. He owns a warehouse that he uses as part of a textile shop that serves as a front for his criminal activities.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Couldn't care less about the animals he illegally smuggles and keeps under horrid conditions so long as they allow him to make money.
  • Karmic Death: Right after he finds himself seemingly in the perfect position to dispose of newly gathered abandoned evidence that could get his criminal activities exposed, he's caught and eaten by one of the animals he'd been planning to sell that had just recently escaped from its containment.

     Death Worm

Greg Cole

Extreme sports fan trying to race the Gobi 500.
  • Tempting Fate: Greg raced with Benton on ATVs in the Gobi desert and got such an emotional high from the thrill of the experience that he and Benton didn't bother to keep track of where they were going while riding.

Benton Davis

Extreme sports fan, he - like Benton - is trying to race the Gobi 500.

     Hellhound

Annabel Lillith

A goth college kid.

Ophelia

Luna

Severin

Nora Callarman

A young goth girl who tries to join up with Annabel's clique. Or so she seems...
  • Ambiguously Human: Her seeming connection with the hellhound demonstrated at the end of the episode, plus the later revelation that there's no record of her being amongst the student body at the school Annabel and her clique attended, or even amongst the nearby town populace, makes it very unclear whether or not she's truly human.
