Myre, knowing that Apostle Hilder needs The Dew to complete her goal of fulfilling the New Genesis, created the Great Pentacle to guard the Dew, transforming the barren Aradian wasteland into Grand Flores and awakening Seria to her mortal form. * PutOnABus: For the longest time, Gizel basically vanished from the story after the Dungeon Fighters defeated the Kartel at the end of the Ghent questline, with his last scene showing him running away from his exploding Mecha Gizel to fight another day. [[TheBusCameBAck Indeed]], [[spoiler: he got his chance when he followed Vaughn through Luke's lab into Pandemonium and eventually allied himself with the Kashipa criminal organization, helping to mechanize many of its key members and building himself a new and improved Mecha Gizel in the process.]]

to:

* GreaterScopeVillain: If there's a lot of bizarre technology involved in a scenario story questline, there's a fairly good chance Gizel is the cause of it.
** He's first introduced in the Ghent scenario questline as the Kartel's mysterous cybernetic implant supplier and the primary reason why the Empyrean army is struggling so much against the Kartels.
** A younger version of him appears during the Adventurer's [[TimeyWimeyBall timeline-hopping shenanigans]] in the Time Gate scenaro questline. It's implied that the present day Gizel's Mecha Gizel has the ability to stop time because the Adventurer's encounter with the past Gizel [[NiceJobBreakingItHero inspired him to research time manipulation technology]].
** [[spoiler:Near the end of the Castle of the Dead scenario questline, Luke gets defeated by the Adventurer and they escape to Pandemonium through a portal that appears shortly after. Vaughn follows the Adventurer through the portal after collecting Luke's essence in his ring, like he did with Anton. Gizel is shown shortly after to be tailing Vaughn as well, highly interested in the new world lying ahead of him. ]]
** [[spoiler:The Pandemonium War questline reveals that he's the man behind the roboticization of the Kashipa gang's {{Mooks}} and some of their lower-ranked officers, experimenting on them for an unspecified amount of time since the Adventurer arrived in Pandemonium.]]
** [[spoiler:The Destroyed Castle of the Dead questline sees many of Luke's robotic creations somehow reanimated through the Kashipa's Abyss energy, with the original boss enemies showing signs of being BrainwashedAndCrazy, aside from Becky. When the Adventurer makes it to Luke's former prophecy altar, they find evidence that Gizel has been trying to figure out how to fuse Sarpoza's Abyss with Luke's creations, all while [[DeadPersonImpersonation impersonating a "revived" Luke]] to gain the trust of the Castle of the Dead's residents.]]
** [[spoiler:The Adventurer pursues Sirocco's spirit throughout time and space after her defeat during much of the level 101 through 110 quests, eventually ending up in a version of Empyrean from the distant past, when it was still embroiled in a war against Bakal and his dragon army. As they try to make sure that history as they known it remains intact and free from Sirocco's influence, they learn that Gizel somehow also came to this time period independently of the Adventurer and offered to help the Seven Meisters upgrade Gaebolg, their HumongousMecha SecretWeapon intended to kill Bakal himself. The Meister's Laboratory questline reveals that his "help" came in the form of him applying his research from the Castle of the Dead and infusing Gaebolg itself with Abyss energy in a bid to use it to kill the Adventurer.]]
* ItsPersonal: [[spoiler:His involvement in the distant past version of Empyrean is this for two reasons: 1.) as a born Empyrean, he was curious how his homeland to Bakal despite the completion of [[HumongousMecha Gaebolg]], and 2.) he upgraded the Gaebolg with Abyss energy not for research, but solely to kill the Adventurer so they don't spoil any more of his plans.]]
* JokerImmunity: He always seems to scurry away from trouble when the machines he pilots get destroyed. [[spoiler:Even when he dies at the end of the Meister's Laboratory questline, TheStinger reveals that Hilder's Bakal-era avatar, Meister Eldirh, sent back Gizel's charred corpse to the present day after his defeat, with a pair of Imperial knights coming across it under orders from an unnamed "crazy woman" to look for it.]]
* PutOnABus: For the longest time, Gizel basically vanished from the story after the Dungeon Fighters defeated the Kartel at the end of the Ghent questline, with his last scene showing him running away from his exploding Mecha Gizel to fight another day. [[TheBusCameBAck [[TheBusCameBack Indeed]], [[spoiler: he got his chance when he followed Vaughn through Luke's lab into Pandemonium and eventually allied himself with the Kashipa criminal organization, helping to mechanize many of its key members and building himself a new and improved Mecha Gizel in the process.]]]]
* VillainousBreakdown: [[spoiler:Goes on a tirade after his defeat at the end of the Meister's Laboratory scenario questline, specifically singling out the Adventurer as the eternal thorn in his side foiling all of his plans.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: The sheer number of surprise appearances Gizel makes throughout ''DFO''[='=]s entire story makes it hard to discuss him without spoiling other major events.

!!Kazan
Hundreds of years ago, he was the Pelos Empire's greatest warrior and friends with Ozma. Kazan and Ozma were both imprisoned and tortured by Pelos's nobility, fearing their powers and potential betrayal. When an unnamed dark entity granted Ozma his Apostle powers, he went on a RoaringRampageOfRevenge, which Kazan wanted none of. Disappointed by his friend's betrayal, Ozma cursed Kazan for eternity in his afterlife, forcibly spreading what's known to present-day Arad as Kazan Syndrome.
----
* EvilBestFriend: Ozma is this to him.
* LifeDrain: As the progenitor of Berserkers as a whole, it's only natural he has this ability. One of his gimmicks involves players absorbing green-outlined blood orbs spawned from Kazan's attacks before Kazan himself does. His DesperationAttack, if it lands, spawns so many of them that it's nigh impossible to prevent him from healing substantially without proper coordination.
* MyDeathIsJustTheBeginning: Sometime between the Pelos Empire's collapse and the events of Ozma's scenario questline, his corpse was made a "key" for [[SealedEvilInACan the seal]] on Ozma's domain. When the Dungeon Fighters managed to defeat Kazan for good during Ozma's scenario questline, he says something to this effect as they witness Ozma's awakening. In the Ozma Raid, defeating Kazan marks the end of the raid's first phase, allowing the party to fight Ozma proper.

* DeityOfHumanOrigin
* InterfaceScrew: The absolute king of this, as his name implies: he can make your party's attacks damage each other, causing you to very quickly kill each other by accident if you're not prepared for it, force your characters to teleport around randomly, completely black out the screen except for a small area around him and cause the camera to focus on a different player: all of these can be countered by the player who's currently transformed into one of his demons, but figuring out what they should do is easier said than done, especially since lag can easily ruin your attempts. He's also protected by a barrier that takes repeated hits to break and only makes him vulnerable for short perioids of time: thanks to all the above and the fact that the effects can stack, all he needs to do is to create dark geysers of energy and slowly floating balls of darkness and an unco-ordinated party can easily lose tens of lives before being able to take him down. A later update toned this down somewhat: while he still has the habit of turning your party into weakened monsters, he's now invincible for most of the time and once the stones in the corners of the room are destroyed, it's easy to kill him before he does anything else.

** Completely averted, oddly, as the final boss of his namesake raid. Sure, he takes the #1 spot for having the most gimmick attacks to remember in a single raid boss, but none of them mess with the UI or party's controls in any way, shape, or form.
