Mine? Probably one with just exploring and making choices through your enviroment.

You find a cave to have shelter, great, but do you have that warm tent being guarded by soldiers? Or you could spend a night in the rain hunting for food.

Can't think of many gameplay options, it'd probably just be a little exploration with the fun coming from choices. You can't use a checkpoint to go back and fix something, if you mess up you'll have to deal with that.

Might make an excellent computer game.

That might make a sweet Interactive Story game. A game with few options would probably be difficult to justify in a 3D environment.

An epic Sci-Fi FPS building and improving upon the best laid mechanics of the genre gameplay wise.

I can elaborate more if you ask.

A Flash Deconstruction Game that is based off or spoofs an aspect of gaming (just like Achievement Unlocked for achievements, Upgrade Complete for upgrades, Steamshovel Harry for unnecessarily long tutorials, You Have to Burn the Rope for simplicity, etc).

It would be called "Almost Loaded" or something and it spoofs Loads and Loads of Loading. The game starts out with a standard flash loading bar that suddenly slows to a crawl, and then the game zooms into the loading bar. It's up to you to summon digital helpers/increase bandwidth/increase your loading stats to make sure it gets to the end.

Halfway through, you face off against an opposing force attempting to push the loading bar backwards. Yeah. The Final Boss would be an Advancing Boss of Doom that will push your bar all the way back to the start if not killed in time, resulting in a Non-Standard Game Over where the "game" fails to load.

I am partly inspired by Limbo (the game with the giant spider) and Cave Story, along with certain aspects of The Walking Dead and Silent Hill.

You'd have little control of your character, aside from pointing and 5 dialogue options that pop up on the screen. You find items by clicking them, and there use or worth is determined on how you progress and play.

@ironcommando: That doesn't sound excessively complicated to make. Although how exactly are you envisioning the gameplay? As a sort of tug-o-war strategy game, or a button masher, or an anti-TD, or what?

I'm currently working on a Flash game intended to be a hybrid of launching games and Motherload clones. But there's still a long way to go and I don't end up spending as much of my time on such things as I probably should. In the more distant future I have tentative plans for a couple of shoot-em-ups, a node strategy game and a space trading and combat game, but I haven't laid down any code for those yet.

[up]It's kind of like an RTS game, actually, with resource management in the form of your bandwidth. When creating units, you temporary divert some of your bandwidth when they are being produced, slowing or even halting your progress, but these units are important for pushing the bar forward by themselves as well as defeating the enemies.

Although there will be moments where it would feel like a Tug-of-war of sorts, especially when the enemies that push your bar backwards start appearing.

An Unpublished Works page for it is here.

I've got one. Has anyone played Void? Well, you have these gloves that change things to the way they were in the past, such as bridges, temporarily so you can use them. Well, my idea would be similar to that except it would be larger and like an FPS. Like, to take out an enemy on a bridge, you speed up time for that object and have it decay so that he falls, and if you use it on him directly, he does some Last Crusade shit as he dies. Your time powers would be to pause, speed up, and reverse time. I think it would be really cool, especially if those were your only weapons, so you would need to be stealthy in order to move forward and take out guards.

Bouncing off of Scarlet Blade and the gender issues threads that have been popping up: An MMO where the characters know they're characters in the game, and your PC actually looks back at you and talks to you. The main game wouldn't have H elements or the usual stripperific outfitting, but expansion packs would delve into such things, including a place with a culture that prizes Saunas and public bathing as highly useful social activities. How the characters react to the inevitable perverts driving them into those places will depend on their class's personality. Some might actually show off and get suggestive (Or more) while others would emphasize comments like "Hey, my eyes are up here!" and "Can you focus on the mission for two seconds instead of drooling over me?"

Ya, most of unique ideas are already done.

Hence why I would probably do something less unique and do vampire hunting game tongue Seriously, name one game where vampire hunting is main point and not random sidequest in rpg. And where you actually hunt vampire in the way you would expect hunting vampires work and not fight agaisnt random mythological enemies until you finally reach the Dracula who is the only actual vampire in the whole game.

And games where you become vampire don't count, those are games where you play as vampire who started out as human :P

Totally do something similar to Pokemon. Via RPG Maker or whatever.

I love slow turn-based rpg's.(speed up button can be nice, too)

[up]That one sounds cool. I've thought of something similar once- an RPG that plays like SNES Final Fantasy games but you use Pokemon characters (and the enemy monsters are also Pokemon).

I've had this idea of making a sort of throwback to the early Myst games as an homage (attempting to capture more of the atmosphere or concept than typical Myst-clones did).

The problem with the SNES ones is they were Gauge system. I'm talking about no time limits, ala Pokemon. You simply choose your option(s) and go from there.

Right now I have to make a game for a school project, using Construct.

So I made a puzzle platformer where the player (a robot aided by a Tractor Beam satellite) calls down asteroids and meteors. These enter the playing field from above and strike the first object they find.

You can use asteroids as platforms, stack them, make them land on pressure plates, use them as platforms over spikes, or a defence against Mooks. You can have a maximum of four on the ground at any time. However, roid-proof blocks destroy any asteroids they touch. If you get crushed/hit by your own asteroid, you take damage.

Meteors explode on contact with anything, but are thus more powerful because their explosion can destroy asteroids and roid-proof blocks. These can also hit switches (but less effectively). The player can "charge" meteors which will cause them to explode in a larger explosion and destroy more stuff. If you get hit/exploded by your own meteors, you take damage depending on strength and proximity of the meteor.

Enemies:

  • Bugroid: A bug that moves left and right and explodes if it touches you. Can be killed with asteroids or Meteors.
  • Grunt: Soldier enemy that fires at you if you get in its sights. Block its shots and sight with asteroids.
  • Turret: A turret gun with loads of health, it keeps firing strong shots forwards. The shots can be used to push switches.
  • Blobula: A Blob Monster-like thing. This is an Invincible Minor Minion that cannot be killed, however, dropping an asteroid on it squashes it flat and renders it unable to move until the asteroid is removed.
  • Raybat: Airborne Mook that fires a constant laser downwards that destroys asteroids easily. Not much health. Hide from its attacks by staying under something.
  • Missile Machine: The Giant Mook of the game. Has a ton of health, and can fire both regular shots and homing missiles. Stay away and drop meteors on them.

Bosses:

  • Boss 1- Tractank: He fires huge barrage of shots at you- use asteroids to block these. It also fires missiles into the air that slowly land on you- use meteors to counter or just dodge them. There are switches in the room that you can push to block his attacks.
  • Boss 2- Deployer: A Shielded Core Boss. He drops a drone on the floor that moves and fires a laser upwards. Putting an asteroid in its path makes it go the other way, hit the boss, and explode him, removing his shield. Drop roids/meteors on him when it's down.
  • Boss 3 (Final boss)- Enemy Leader: This one's tough to explain. There's two switches in opposite corners of the room. The ceiling consists of one layer of roid-proof blocks sandwiched between two layers of platforms which temporarily disappear when one of the two switches are touched. The boss flies below these. You need to step on the first switch, drop meteors on the roid-proof blocks to break them, then drop asteroids on the bottom platform. Then you go over to the other side and press the switch when the boss is under the roids- the platform disappears, they drop on him and he gets damaged.

As for the name of the game? Roid Rage.

I've had an idea bouncing around for a little while, something that's never been done before.

Kite fighting/kite running.

The game is divided into two halves, the first being the kite fighting. You have the option to customize your kite, and train your kite fighter so they can control the kite easier or the kite runner so they can run faster or have a better way of tracking kites. Fighting kites is presented from a bird's eye view, with strong kites being bigger and having a sort of aura around them.

The second half is controlling your kite runner when you cut off a strong kite from its strings. This segment is a sort-of-parkour-but-not-quite game where you race to claim the kite. This is also a race to beat the other runners.

I'm not entirely sure how to improve this because it's very bare bones.

You're all aware of the old Apogee platformers, right? Duke Nukem, Monster Bash, etc.? My dream game would be to basically make something in that style, as close to the hardware limitations as possible. 16 color graphics, low-fi digitized sound, with the option for simulated PC Speaker sound effects... yeah. The gameplay I'd imagine, would involve moving through levels, killing enemies, collecting colored keys, and grabbing lots of little point items, like T-shirts and sunglasses. Because why not, really?

I don't really have a theme for the game yet, although I think my plans involve some kind of 1920's Ghostbuster type in a Castlevania-esque setting.

Is it original? Not really. Do I care? Nah.

I ain't got nothing original going on for my idea.

Just a simple platformer shoot-em-up starring a Cute Witch with a talking hat. She fights with her wand which can either shoot magic beams or extend its crescent tip into a blade. You can shoot and melee in any direction, displayed by a movable cursor, and you've got other moves such as sprinting, sliding, and wall-jumping. You heal by finding blueberry pies.

The story would be that you live in a world of Witches (in other words, every character is female, except for the talking hats.) with punny names that rule over specific lands. One day, one of the witches, an evil power monger, invades these lands and kidnaps their rulers. The one remaining witch sets out to save them and foil the evil one's plans.

Maybe as a plus, it can include a level editor as well as time trials. Or maybe some lost levels?

I have some slight scripting knowledge, so I've been using rpgmaker to make a generic rpg. No real story yet, gonna make a skeletal framework of the game first. Found some nice scripts and even made a few of my own. Trying to avoid sturgeon's law.

Implemented: enemy radar, animated enemies, generic dungeons, pseudo-3d dungeons, quest system, randomly generated dungeons, platforming, generic rpg stuff found in things like dragon quest and shin megami tensie. Planned: Non-tiny sprites, Stuff

Expect a demo within 10 years.

I'm working on a science-fantasy RPG which, for now, I'm calling "Holon". It goes like yay:

It's several centuries into the future, and the Sol system has been destroyed by a black hole. Humanity fled the Sol System and formed two empires: Zion, and the Enigma State. The former is run by a group of machine worshipers that considers an AI known as Metatron (who organized the evacuation of Earth) to be a reincarnation of the God of Good. They have a sort of Everything Is An Ipad In The Future aesthetic. The latter, the Enigma State, are a group of revolutionaries who split off from Zion under the belief that Metraton is evil. They're basically Gothic Necromancer Communists. The two have been in a cold war for at least 400 some years. Caught in the middle are aliens, who are mostly medieval and ancient cultures Recycled In Space.

The game itself takes place on a moon that has a core made of Mithril and was originally run by aliens. The Enigma State came in and conquered it. The locals were really bummed about this, so they formed a resistance. Zion funded this resistance-together, they were able to kick the Enigma State off of the moon. Zion later went on to put a colony (known as Holon) on that world in order to trade with the locals and rebuild their economy.

The protagonist is a government agent who lives in Holon and has to keep it protected from a covert plot by the Enigma State. In order to do so, he teams up with a cowboy cop, an android priestess, a British-sounding Gentleman Adventurer, a young vampire girl, and an alien space viking who fought in the war to liberate the moon.
