Eddie at The LMV is a British YouTube channel that was launched in May 2016, hosted by fictional character Eddie. It is based on an animated seven-piece musical band called The LMV that cover songs and create music videos to them that take the lyrics as literally as possible. You could describe it as the Literal Music Video trope inverted, but mixed with the typical song covers that are found on YouTube.

  • Double subvertion with Walking on Sunshine in which only Leona Lewis is the only famous one. As much as Eddie likes that she's in the background, she is the only character that is more informed about Taylor's love life than the other characters, yet she barely interacts with her old friend.
• All There in the Manual: The only person we get to know is Eddie. We learn everyone else's names in the opening credits of miscellaneous videos.
• Ambiguously Brown: Alan the drummer. Frankie, Eddie, and Lucy have darker skin than him but Alan himself is too dark to be associated with the Caucasian members Robbie and Wigan. Perhaps he is half-black/half-white...
• Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Eddie says that the music he used to listen to was The Beatles, ABBA and LazyTown.
• Art Shift: Every single character in the animated band has three different art styles: Bitstrips comic panel, Muvizu 3D animation, and the 2D Go!Animate animation. During the changes, some characters' hairstyles go from curly to straight, messy to neat, and Wigan's hair goes from one ponytail to Girlish Pigtails.
• Berserk Button: Eddie hates EDM music, especially anything Avicii made ("I'd rather listen to an Avicii album!"), and also makes snide comments about his hatred of Calvin Harris and Jay-Z. He also hates when television presenters pronounce "trolling" as if they're trying to rhyme the word with "trolley", and the tropes Lyrics/Video Mismatch, The Power of Friendship, and Surreal Music Video.

  • When reviewing Rainbow, an episode features the main characters forming a band with the lead singer Zippy throwing a tantrum that drives the rest of the group away, and then dreams of becoming a world-famous solo artist. Eddie’s thoughts on this?
    Eddie: [Zippy] became the lead singer to sabotage the band to go solo for being a tosspot. ...Is this a biopic about Destiny's Child?
• Brick Joke: The Perky Puppy advert for the Perky Puppy, the Cutest Pets video, a clear reference to the performance at the end of They're Lelli Kelly, the Most Irritating Adverts.
• Call-Back: Top 9 Animated Opening Titles features a few during the Dennis the Menace entry, including Eddie stating that the 1996 one reminds him of joining Rocky and the Coco Pops monkey at the skateboarding park (one of the entries of his Favourite Adverts list), and then compares the 2009 opening titles to a poor man's Horrid Henry opening titles mixed with a Fall Out Boy song, stating that it's as funny as the Light 'Em Up video he made a few months before (because it was based on a Fall Out Boy song).
• The Cameo: There’s a couple of these in the Literal Music Videos.
  • Lucy has cameoed in videos more than any other band member, usually playing the drums in the background in group shots. There is also Robbie, to an extent.
  • Alan cameos briefly in The LMV cover of "Don't Throw Your Love Away". When he hears a boy singing along to the track through his headphones, Alan hands him his love. His voice can be heard on "Me and Bobby and Bobby's Brother".
  • Eddie appears in "I Make Believe It's You" as Frankie sings. Alan also makes a cameo as the boy that Eddie's girlfriend is in love with.
  • Sam appears in "Someday, We're Gonna Love Again", despite not having any input in the song.
  • invoked A possible Retroactive Recognition here, with Wigan making a cameo in "Drive My Car" as the woman that wants Eddie to be her driver, long before her appearance in "I’m Into Something Good" and her singing debut in "She's Kinda Hot".
  • Sam acts in "No Milk Today", but Frankie is the lead singer (in fact, The LMV don't make any appearance in the track at all). This is similar in "This Empty Place", but with Robbie, Lucy, and Sam playing the music mutely in the background.
  • The flash mob at the end of "Twistin' The Night Away" features Sam and Lucy in different parts of the crowd.
• Casual Sports Jersey: Eddie wears a #9 O'Reilly jersey (the sports jersey that female soccer player Heather O'Reilly wore on the US women's soccer team).
• Character Blog: Eddie, Wigan and Robbie's Twitter pages. Robbie also has a YouTube channel and makes frequent comments on Eddie's channel's videos, often complaining about not singing lead.
• Character Name and the Noun Phrase: The name of the channel slightly follows the pattern of this trope.
• Cold Open: From Eddie's Bookshelf episodes always begins with one, usually a space for Eddie to make a joke or discusses something before the actual episode starts.
• Creator Cameo: Eddie will make appearances in music videos, even though he doesn’t sing at all.
• Deadpan Snarker: Eddie, when he's doing his solo videos, as well as his tweets.
• Does This Remind You of Anything?: Eddie invokes this in his review of the Coco Pops Crunchers commercial by claiming that the raccoon is using them as drugs, mostly because children are only allowed to be sharing the staking park if they can withstand the power of the crunch.
• Drugs Are Bad: Parodied with "Say no to cereal from raccoons, kids."
• Early-Installment Weirdness: The early videos have a Fair Use disclaimer at the beginning of them.
• Echoing Acoustics: Most common on the acapella covers.
• Either/Or Title: The titles of the Literal Music Videos have been changed over three times. Eddie just can’t seem to find a title that fits his videos.
• Extreme Omnisexual: Eddie, after drinking the Love Potion Number Nine. He kisses a policeman, a woman, a man, and chases after a dog.
• Fan Vid: The point of the Literal Music Videos.
• Flash Mob: The end to "Twistin' the Night Away", with Frankie leading the formation.
• Fiery Redhead: Robbie actually isn't one and is much more a Deadpan Snarker.
• Freeze-Frame Bonus: In "Need You Now", Eddie sings about having "another shot of whiskey" and a freeze frame of Eddie pointing a pistol at a surrendering man (presumably called Whiskey) is shown.
• Gray Rain of Depression: A snowy version in "This Empty Place".
• Harsh Vocals: Eddie and Robbie, whenever they get a solo.
• Hong Kong Dub: Sort of. Eddie points out that many British detergent commercials have actors saying one thing, but their dubbed voice is saying another.
• Hot Men at Work: A trope that Eddie appears to hate. When talking about the Diamond Car Insurance commercials in his countdown, he praises the commercial for using realistic-looking people in the background instead of Hollywood Homely models. He comments on Fifth Harmony's "Work From Home" and Britney Spears' "Womanizer" music videos glamorizing builders and office workers, respectively, when in real life, builders look like "your dad", as he put it, and office workers look like characters on the US and UK versions of The Office.invoked
• Hypocritical Humor: Eddie moans about British news trying to be relatable to the youth by promoting their social media, but then immediately flashes up his Twitter username, begging viewers to follow him.
• I Am the Band: Subverted in Eddie's case. Although he is the main character with his name in the channel, he didn't get a solo song until the 10th video.
• In Memoriam: invoked At the end of Eddie's second review of British Caledonian, a card in memoriam for Monarch * It's Popular, Now It Sucks!:invoked One would think that Eddie is attempting to discuss this on Please Stop, TV, but it turns out to be averted. Eddie states that he's lost respect for television news because it promotes its social media all over the place, misses out stories so that the rest of it can be found on their website or social media, and scours the internet for the latest memes, even though parents and the elderly that don't understand the internet wouldn't know what they were talking about, or care.
• Jumping the Shark: invoked What Eddie accuses the creators of Doctor Who of doing when they made the 13th Doctor female, comparing it to Ghostbusters (2016). He argues that Jodie Whittaker being made the Doctor was because Peter Capaldi failed to maintain the younger audience that young and Mr. Fanservice actors David Tennant and Matt Smith created, and if the BBC was actually progressive, they should've made the character female after the 10th of 11th, when the audience was still watching. Despite his opinion, Eddie writes at the end of the video that he wishes the new Doctor's actress good luck.

• Medium Blending: The art shifts from the 2D style of Go!Animate to the 3D world of Muvizu. Not to mention, the original art style of the still frames of Bitstrips comic panels.
• Messy Hair: Robbie's hair on the channel's header page.
• Multicultural Team: The LMV itself. There are black (Frankie, Eddie, Lucy), Caucasian (Wigan, Robbie), Eastern-Asian (Sam), and ambiguously brown (Alan) members.
• New Media Are Evil: Averted. In his "Please Stop, TV" video, Eddie accuses television and film of trying to be relatable to its audience by including said new media clumsily into their work.
• No-Respect Guy: Eddie accuses the MacCallister family of treating Kevin like this in the conclusion of Home Alone. When the family discover that the youngest child is fine (despite being in the traumatising situation of being left in a house by himself for about a week, especially after being punished the night before it happened), Eddie points out that their nonchalant attitude could be easily interpreted as even more abusive than the film intended. He says that it really pushes his buttons when the father teases Kevin about going shopping, yet a typical child in a similar situation wouldn't have the skills or awareness to not do something about food and more likely end up starving to death.
• Nobody Loves the Bassist: Robbie barely gets any solos. He is very vocal about this.
• Nostalgia Filter: Most of the time, Eddie's interests and memories are based around The 2000s, and he rarely has anything good to say about The New '10s.
• Only One Name: Eddie doesn't have a surname.
• Perma-Stubble: Robbie has a five o’clock shadow in all of his appearances.
• P.O.V. Cam: In "Do You Want To Know A Secret", the camera acts as the person Robbie is singing to.

  • Many of the videos have this.
  • Eddie's Twitter page is full of this, too: "So does The Pentagon have five sides, or...?" ^note Ironically, he was right.
• Satellite Character: The only band member that is seen outside of the group is Eddie. Despite having a wider internet presence than the rest of the neglected group, Robbie mostly hangs around with Eddie.
• Scatting: Frankie scats the instrumental and introduction lines of "It's In Her Kiss".
• Shout-Out:
  • The drop from Neon Jungle's "Braveheart" makes Eddie say that it would be better suited to torture people, followed by distorted clips from Xiaolin Showdown and Neon Genesis Evangelion of disturbed characters reacting to it.
  • When Eddie looks up the band The Way Out on Google, the results say "Did you mean The Who?"
  • The channel's theme song is a Song Parody of "Signs" by Snoop Dogg.
  • The transition title cards have the riff from "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" by Shania Twain.
  • When talking about an episode of the Daz Cleaner Close commercials, Eddie talks about soap opera tropes, as well as an episode in which a man crashes a wedding. Eddie says that after the man runs out the church with the bride, he assumes that it will be like the end of The Graduate with the two runaways jumping on a bus to go to the nearest supermarket to buy Daz detergent.
  • When discussing double entendre, Eddie often plays a clip from a Carry On... Series movie. It's usually famous jokes from Carry On Cabby.
    • "Ding dong! Carry on!" from Carry On Nurse.
  • Eddie's Parallel Porn Title: Phwoar: Raging Cock.
  • "What a twist!" from Robot Chicken makes an appearance in Eddie's summary video on 2016.
  • "I imagine the residents of Cleaner Close are Double D-like neat freaks."

  • Eddie points out that one of the security guard/strippers look like The Dom. When they first appear, "You Can Leave Your Hat On" plays.
• Snark-to-Snark Combat: Many of Eddie and Robbie's fights on social media.
• Soap Opera: Eddie has a hatred for them, mostly for it being a Crapsack World with Karma Houdini villains and likable characters Too Good for This Sinful Earth, as well as serial cheaters that date everyone in their neighbourhood.

  • Wigan (although she's alto) and Eddie (gravel) in their cover of "Need You Now".
  • Whenever Frankie (baritone) and Sam (tenor and/or falsetto) duet.
• Step Up to the Microphone: Quite a few occasions.
  • As of early March 2017, Alan has had one leading song: "I’m Into Something Good".
  • Robbie has sung lead on "Needles and Pins" and "Do You Want to Know a Secret". He's been the most vocal about this.
  • Eddie doesn't get a vocal appearance until the tenth music video. Since then, he occasionally makes appearances.
• Those Two Guys: Frankie and Sam are more likely to duet with each other.
• Tiny Schoolboy: Robbie is the shortest member of the seven-piece band.
• Tropes Are Tools: Music Video Tropes are still used, even though the videos focus on following the story of the song they're promoting, unlike official music videos.
• Values Dissonance: invoked Discussed whenever Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" is mentioned, especially with the controversial "Have a drink, have a drive/Go out and see what you can find".
• Visual Pun: Several of the music videos base their comedic value around this.
• Vocal Tag Team: "Live While We're Young", possibly to imitate One Direction's performance.
• World of Snark: Any of Eddie and Robbie's interactions on Twitter, usually when they're complaining or commenting on something that confuses them.
  • A variety of Eddie's tweets, in general. For example:invoked "The possible reason why It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia is because it's probably filmed in Hollywood."
