Chomperronpa: Preserved Killing is a Danganronpa fan roleplay run on Discord by Plasma Man 2000.

"16 "Ultimates" wake up in an unknown location referred to as Naturalistic Recreation and Technology Advancement Pavilion, an attraction where different biomes are simulated for visitors to view. They learn that they're here for a special preview of these private crowd-pleasing simulations. . . which they have no memory of ever signing up for. And soon, when a robot introduces himself as S.I.R. (Simulated Intelligence Robotics), who informs them that they're not allowed to leave the pavilion. That is, unless they're willing to sacrifice one of their own. . ."

Unfortunately, the roleplay was cancelled in 10/18/21. However, this page will be updated to add tropes from the rewrite.

Chomperronpa: Preserved Killing contains examples of:

  • Accidental Pervert: Zarc walks in on Miu experimenting with her dorm (which has plenty of sex toys) because she forgot to lock the door.
  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade:
  • Adaptational Heroism: Korekiyo Shinguuji is no longer an incestuous Serial Killer, merely an anthropologist viewing the killing game as a mere observer. However... he is still not good in the slightest, being moreso creepy here then outright evil.
  • Adaptational Nice Guy:
  • Adaptational Villainy: Contrasting the change in Miu's morals, Kaede is nearly a different person entirely- mostly due to being a Remnant of Despair.
  • Adaptation Expansion: Quite a few characters are given more backstory here than in canon.
  • Agent Scully: Zarc seems to be one, considering his first response to Angie claiming to be blessed by Atua in order to create her art (after briefly losing his cool) is ask her to cite sources, which Angie isn't able to provide. This, combined with Zarc's belief that Religion Is Wrong, causes them to not like each other.
Zarc: That's basically just citing your claims as "dude, trust me". You can't just say this to someone and expect them not to ask for actual evidence. You're basically saying you're possessed by a god, and you expect people to just say "oh, okay"?
  • Alternate Universe: Quite a few characters come from these, most notably the characters from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, as they're real people here.
  • Bedlah Babe: Shantae wears a red bedlah most of the time, and has attracted some confusion by her outfit choice, partially to her chagrin. By the end of the prologue, she's already made a silent declaration to put on some casual clothes so no one else says anything.
Miu: I mean, we both got melons, and I'm proud o' mine, but I ain't paradin' around in a bikini top just to show 'em off, ya know?
Shantae: H-Hey! I'm not wearing this to show off or anything!
  • Berserk Button: Zarc is said to hate flowers. Him involuntarily wanting eat them during the first motive makes this even worse.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: While Kiyo is set up as the primary group antagonist during the prologue due to being the most alright with the killing game and pushing most everyone away with his attitude, including outright stating his belief that people will succumb to the killing game, in reality, Kaede Akamatsu is much more of a threat to the group then Kiyo ever could hope to be.
  • Birds of a Feather:
    • Miu and Zarc, despite having conflicting personalities, the former being a pervy technological genius and the latter being a Hot-Blooded brutally honest champion, they get along through their love of technology, being different from the general public and never having any real friends, albeit for completely opposite reasons (Miu was casted out by her peers due to childhood trauma, while Zarc's Start of Darkness can be attributed to him wanting to appease the crowd by becoming more brutal).
    • Meanwhile, Doc and Kiyo get along rather well due to their pessimistic and more calm demeanor, as well as having similar thought processes.
  • Bizarre Taste in Food: As a part of the first motive's effects, Zarc has the constant urge to eat flowers.
  • Brutal Honesty: Zarc explicitly knows he has this. His most brutally honest example being him stating to Miu that they'd probably get along because they both play up their strengths to cover up the fact that they don't really have any friends.
Miu (Thinking): He just shot straight to the point! Who does that?
  • The Chosen One: Zarc brings up this possibility when talking with Chara in the prologue, considering he has the ability to hear the Real Solid Vision monsters he uses. Chara, upon hearing this phrase, cuts the conversation short.
  • Crossover Ship: Given the kind of role play this is, this isn't surprising, with the main ship being Miu and Terezi, to the point of them having sex in the infirmary before the first trial.
  • The Cynic: Downplayed for Zarc. While he does want to survive the Deadly Game, mainly to atone for his actions, he outright calls Kadae an idiot for believing that they'll get out without any casualties. Though the scene itself is a subversion due to Kaede actually being much less than moral, Zarc's cynicism still stands.
Kaede: Positive! We're all gonna make it out alive!
Zarc: …No we aren't, and you're an idiot for thinking otherwise.
Kaede: Well… maybe I am but… that wont stop me from believing!
Zarc: I suppose. Still think it's a rather suicidal kind of optimism, though.
Kaede: (pouts) I'll prove you wrong soon enough!
    Zarc: …No you won't.
  • Deadly Game: Given that it's a Danganronpa roleplay, this should come as no surprise.
  • Do Androids Dream?: Chara asks this about Zarc's monsters. Despite the fact that he occasionally hears them speak, Zarc doesn’t really worry about it.
  • Double Entendre: In response to Zarc's Info Dumping vent, Shantae says "Everyone's got junk they have to dump every now and again." Zarc immediately starts laughing at this.
  • Dramatic Irony: Terezi's talk with Kaede about morality, considering who Kaede is in actuality.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": How Boss introduces himself, telling them to just refer to him as "Boss."
    • Averted later when he introduces himself as Nagil to Benson.
  • Everyone Has Standards:
    • Miu, while rather pervy herself, can't imagine how many Loony Fans Zarc had to put up with during his career, describing them as "assholes who couldn't give two shits about the well-being of the human race".
    • Even Kiyo thinks that the torture Strike went through was harsh and disgusting. Not that he takes the same attitude to the killing game, however.
    • Kiyo despises Kaede arguably more then the rest of the group due to in his mind her being a inhuman monster who is excited about her tortuous ideas of fun, as well as intentionally causing a murder, not to save everyone from the motive, but to make them suffer.
  • Explain, Explain... Oh, Crap!: When Miu and Zarc meet up in the former's dorm, Miu sings its praises before realizing why it's like that.
    Miu… but you're right, it's a nice place! It's… almost like… they want me to… stay… here… (Beat) …I hope I didn't just jinx everything.
Zarc: …You probably jinxed it. But we'll burn that bridge when we get to it, okay?
  • Face Plant: Edgeworth walks in on Shantae invoking this trope when she attempts to bust down a door by charging straight into it.
  • Fate Worse than Death: S.I.R. reduces Strike to mere atoms scattered about as punishment for his interference and to demonstrate the group's fate should they mess with him. And he's still alive during all this. Needlessly to say, it left mostly everyone, even Kiyo disturbed.
  • Fish out of Temporal Water: Merrick comes from the WWII era, and is understandably confused and curious about the technological advances since his time. Both he and Miu realize this fairly quickly during the prologue. While not much attention is brought to it in comparison, Zarc is from an Ambiguous Time Period in the future.
  • Forced Transformation: To demonstrate the first motive, SIR turns Edgeworth into a rat. This turns out to be the first motive- over the course of the next week, the subjects will slowly turn into mindless animals. They all get better, but some sooner than others - Edgeworth in particular has to wait until the end of the story.
  • Fridge Logic: During his time alone, Zarc starts wondering the physics of Real Solid Vision monsters. This then dives into Brain Bleach territory when he imagines if you can have sex with them.
  • Good Is Not Nice: Zarc, despite making a Heel–Face Turn, isn't that nice of a person, with him having noticeable anger issues, a pretty bleak outlook on life and no real way to sugarcoat things.
  • Glowing Eyes of Doom: Zarc's Supernatural Gold Eyes glow when he's thoroughly upset with something.
  • Groin Attack: In response to Boss's attempt at waking her up, Anne-Maria ended up kicking him in the nether area.
  • Heroic BSoD: After it's revealed Paimon was the culprit in Chapter 1 manipulated into killing by Kaede, Shantae shut down and locked herself in her room for days to the point of nearly starving herself.
  • Hunter of Monsters: Boss's Ultimate Talent, which naturally cause him to have conflicts with Chara before he clarifies what kinds of monsters he's talking about.
  • Irony:
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Merrick, while normally very down to earth, has a very strong reaction towards Zarc's Yu-Gi-Oh cards.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
    • Shantae does this when talking with Zarc in the prologue, considering how "bananas" a society run primarily based on card games is. Zarc gets in on the lampshading in Chapter 1, pointing out just how weird his backstory is when talking to Miu. Shantae is also genuinely confused by Zarc's Anime Hair, and at one point thinks they may be horns until proven otherwise by touching it.
    • Miu, when the Deadly Game is revealed, she describes it as "the kinda stuff you'd see in some third-rate visual novel or by some bored-as-fuck teenagers with nothin' to do with their lives".
  • Humans Are Interesting: As per canon, Kiyo has this belief, making him clash especially with the Humans Are Bastards beliefs of Chara.
  • Hates Everyone Equally: Zarc, Miu and Chara are all misanthropic to varying degrees, each of them having their own reasons why.
  • Named by the Adaptation:
  • The Nicknamer: Miu is a fan of placing labels on her fellow participants, as in canon- calling Kaede "Bakamatsu" as in canon, but also labelling Shantae as "Tae-Tae", coining Ratworth's nickname following his transformation and calling Paimon a floating fetus.
  • Noodle Incident: According to Shantae in the group chat, Rottytops attempted to fuck a blender once.
  • Odd Friendship: Miu and Shantae. The former is a technological mastermind with a rude mouth and an eternally horny demeanor, the latter is a magical half-genie who is genuinely a good person with much less issues. It turns out they play off of each other surprisingly well.
  • Order Versus Chaos: Angie's and Zarc's rivalry is this conflict. Angie is the former, being a devout religious artist who believes that she should convert everyone to her religion for the good of everyone. Zarc is the latter, having seen several different ways order can go wrong, having a taste of being worshipped like a god before and is a firm believer that Religion Is Wrong, believing that people should be independent.
  • Prehensile Hair: Just like in her games, Shantae can whip her hair offensively. She put this ability to use when Merrick tried to stab her in the prologue.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Zarc is already pretty impatient with Angie's antics, but Ally crucifying Korekiyo causes him to almost completely lose it, coming extremely close to murdering her. He crosses this far more properly in chapter 5, delivering to Kaede the Cruel and Unusual Death she deserves.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After reaching her limit with Korekiyo, Miu has this to say at his expense before storming off:
Miu: Just fuck off. Ya hear that? FUCK OFF! I dunno who you think you are, but lemme get this into your head. You? You're fucked up. Obnoxious. Just a douche in general. I don't wanna be an optimist, but I also don't want to look forward to the deaths of others just to see what'll fucking happen. I'm a bitch, but I'm not a heartless bitch. God, I don't just dislike ya, Kiyo. You're an absolute shitstain who if someone has to die, I honestly wouldn't mind if you're the first limpdick to bite it just so you don't get to "observe" the absolute insanity that follows! Fuck you. Fuck you as much as I can say it.
    • She gives another one to Kaede after the first trial.
Miu:...so... that's really the whole gist of it, huh? Whole week I've known ya, you've just been faking everything.
...heh. Well, congrats, ya fuckin' shitstain. You fooled me. Fooled everyone. Here I thought you were someone I could trust... guess my big noggin ain't good for that.
(Miu punches Kaede in the face)
Do you have... ANY IDEA... how much I've grown to hate people? I've met the sickest, most disturbing people you can imagine. I've had eighteen years of life shoved around from place to place like some kind of fucking sex toy. And you know what? I let it happen, I taught myself to fucking enjoy it because it's a fate no human being should ever have to put up with, and I wanted to make sure no one else would have to.
But what do I get out of it? (she's starting to cry) Lied to, betrayed, having to watch the only people I've ever known willing to talk to me about anything other than my fucking ass die in front of me, and being put into a situation where I can't even trust the only people who've ever been nice to me.
    And you.
You are the embodiment of everything wrong with this fucking game. You're a shitstain in a perfume bottle. A fake diamond in a ring. It doesn't matter how anyone treats you. You're shit to us anyway. And for what? Our suffering? Watchin' us squirm? People like you are why I hate people so much. The reason I refuse to work with anyone other than myself.
I wish you had to grow up with my family. I wish you were the one who had to grow up objectified by her own family, ostracized from her class... just wanting to end it all.
Then maybe you wouldn't have been as lucky with that fucking car as I was.
One less shitty human on Planet Earth.
I see that as an absolute plus.
  • Religion Is Wrong: Zarc is a firm believer of this, at least in regards to Angie's religion. He brings up that, due to Angie's family living on an island which they control, there isn't any kind of conflicting viewpoints that can develop, and even if one did, they'd likely be isolated from the others.
  • Sacrificial Lion: Strike, the same person who managed to X out characters like Grim and (a weaker copy of) Black Hat, ends up horribly disfigured via an intentional Teleportation Misfire when the Deadly Game begins. Downplayed as he didn't exactly die.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When Dave realizes that he's turning into a platypus, he claims that he doesn't want to become Perry.
    • Terezi posts a picture of Hank J. Wimbleton claiming he wants to fuck a blender in the group chat.
  • Sanity Slippage: Ally had the lovely pleasure of slowly breaking down in the Killing Game, since she felt that none of the participants seemed to love each other in her point of view. This culminates in Chapter 3's body discovery, where she's the one who inflicts a Cruel and Unusual Death on Korekiyo Shinguji, courtesy of crucification. Given the kind of person Ally is, it's very easy to imagine where this goes next.
  • Take That!: Zarc describes his fanbase as full of Loony Fans that either threaten him or have a more lustful intent that even freaks out Miu.
  • Team Pet: Ratworth becomes this after Chapter One, with even Miu offering to help take care of him until he recovers.
  • Teleportation Misfire: An intentional case, S.I.R. deals with Strike by putting him into a teleportation tube and using it. Strike comes out the other end in all the wrong way. S.I.R. breaks down his molecular structure to take him away afterwards. To make matters more horrifying, Strike was and is still alive.
  • Thanks for the Mammary: In response to Shantae's shock during their conversation in the cafeteria, Miu pokes Shantae's chest. This of course causes Shantae to get upset understandably.
  • Trauma Button: Implied with Chara. When Zarc brings up the possibility of him being The Chosen One when chatting with them, given his ability to hear his monsters, Chara cuts the conversation short and leaves.
  • Wide-Eyed Idealist: Kaede pretends to be one during the beginning of the game, causing her to have conflicts with Zarc. Angie, Ally and Paimon are straighter examples.
Kaede: Well… it doesn’t exactly help to be so grumpy, it just brings you down, you gotta at least try to stay positive!
Zarc: (Deep breath) I've tried that before. Never. Again."
  • Wild Card: Kiyo's role in actuality, as Kaede views him as one of the bigger threats to her goals, and he throws a wrench into Ally's plans of bringing the group together due to intentionally isolating himself from said group as an observer.
  • Why Don't You Just Shoot Him?: Jäger discusses this with Zarc upon finding out what Real Solid Vision monsters are. Zarc quickly shoots that idea down, saying that wouldn't actually work.
Zarc: Well, let me put it like this: if you had to choose between a gun, and summoning a several stories tall, laser firing giant robot at will… what would you pick?
Merrick: A Maschinengewehr 42 or an 8.8 CM Flak would do just the trick actually, perhaps even decimate such creatures.
Zarc: Not really… I know from experience. Those things can basically only be killed by each other.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: One of the attractions in the preserve is the "Radical Science Korner For Kidz".
