Jake, AKA Skiedude, is a Mine-imator animator, instructional video maker, and Let's Player on YouTube.

Skiedude's persona is a custom-made Minecraft avatar seen wearing a deep blue coat, black snow pants, a blue puff-ball hat, and orange-tinted skiing goggles.

His earliest videos on his channel were Mine-imator exclusive. Showing only tutorials, examples of an animation, and finished products. Shortly after, Skiedude began to review mods and texture packs for Minecraft. Some texture packs were made by his loyal followers just for him to review. Skiedude's videos evolved again and he began reviewing Minecraft servers, and playing on them, thus starting a pseudo-Let's Play! series. From there Skiedude continued to change from strictly Minecraft-related content to FPS games such as Planetside 2 and even G-Mod. As the channel grew, so did Skiedude's fanbase. He began to get more involved with his fans and started to livestream with them on one of his most commonly-visited Minecraft servers, Kamocraft. He started a series called 'Subscriber Build-It Challenge,' where the point was to have two subscribers to Skiedude's channel build a specific thing using Creative Mode in Minecraft. Such examples were an individual underwater dwelling, a barnyard, and a danceclub.

Skiedude didn't stop there. He began playing specific games and gamemodes with individual subscribers to other Let's Players. Notable examples are:

  • Build Challenge! - Benjamin Pracy vs. Phil
  • Survival Games with Vasehh!
  • Trouble in Mineville and Spleef with Timmy Squid

At what seemed like the highest point of his YouTube career, Skiedude was forced to abandon his channel for the most part and concentrate his time on his growing family. He has dropped hints in the past mentioning how he make a return, but it will most likely be appearances in other YouTubers' videos.

Skiedude's videos provides examples of:

  • Aborted Arc: Skiedude clearly had more episodes of Warframe and a few other games planned, but then his retirement stopped him.
  • Absent-Minded Professor: Professor Monocle appears in an episode of the Build-It challenge[1]. While facing Timmy the Squid, Professor Monocle just CAN'T hear what Skiedude says to the both of them.
  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: When playing Warframe, Skiedude is equipped with a Skanna sword (and any other sharp weapon in-game) that cuts enemies vertically and horizontally in half.
  • Accidental Pun: Skiedude's second Let's Build A Ski Resort! video captures this gem:
    • "First for the entryway, I make these big ASSpin pillars."
  • Actually Pretty Funny:
    • At the end of the second episode in the with Timmy Squid, series, Skiedude and Timmy chase down a player named RobotTurkey12345 just to marvel at his ridiculous in-game skin. The fact the two can't help but be childish with the player is just plain enjoyable. The exchange of words is wondrous.
      Timmy: Give him a motorboat.
Skiedude: What a skin that is...
Timmy: Give him a slap on the heiney...
      Skiedude: [chuckles]
    • Another example of this trope can be seen in the "Hamster Gamer vs. Minecraftcoal Subscriber Build-It challenge." About two-thirds of the way through the video, Skiedude compliments Minecraftcoal and discovers MCC mounted a map on his tree house wall. Minecraftcoal's skin makes him looks so ecstatic and proud of himself.
  • Admiring the Abomination: In the same episode as above, Professor Monocle attempts to build a barn as the challenge told him to, and he ended up constructing something that can only be compared to a Mayan temple. As Skiedude examines it, Professor Monocle tries to defend his creation.
  • The Alleged Car: Sweet Jesus, Skiedude's finished product in his Garry's Mod series. He was making a car capable of defending him from the zombie-apocalypse with no prior experience in building in the game.
  • And Knowing Is Half the Battle: In his third (and final) episode of the Let's Build A Ski Resort! series, Skiedude teaches us that you can't build a Ski Lodge with completely flat roofs. They need to be slanted and built up or else the weight of the snow will collapse them.
  • As Lethal as It Needs to Be: In his collab video with Vasehh, Skiedude has no arrows for his bow and plans to intimidate his foes by just flashing them the bow.
    • Timmy Squid and Skiedude are equipped with wooden bowls in their second collab video. Timmy's plan is to put it over the enemy player's heads to blind them.
  • Atlantis: One of his Subscriber Build-It Challenges involves building an underwater abode.
  • Background Music: Skiedude uses royalty-free music for the background music in any of his videos.
  • Badass Boast: "Sadly we are on opposing teams... (Beat)... which just means I am going to win."
  • Badass and Baby: Skiedude sometimes plays games while his toddler daughter makes sounds in the background. In a few episodes he will Baby Talk with her.
    • "Da-da?" "Yeah, that's me!"
  • Badass Unintentional: The AFK player, "annilatorandy" managed to survive an entire round in M-M-M-Monster Kill. He got into the final two players slot, remember... This player was afk the entire game. He survived by doing nothing and accidentally hiding in clever enough spots that the game respawned him in. Up until Skiedude defeated him in a Curbstomp Battle.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Skiedude is about the nicest guy ever, but he will wreck your shit in Survival Games. In his M-M-M-Monster Kill video, Skiedude kills almost every player himself with either one arrow or a wooden sword.
  • Beware the Silly Ones: Timmy Squid has killed Skiedude three times, flipped his lid twice in Spleef, and attempted to murder a player by pushing him off a ferris wheel.
  • Big Badass Rig: In a Mine-imator tutorial, Skiedude's first scene is him driving a truck he made and animated in Mine-imator.
  • Bloody Hilarious: Essentially Skiedude's Zombie Driver HD Demo review involves him running down hordes of the undead with a car. made even better when he gets weapons equipped on the car.
  • Brick Joke: While Skiedude and Timmy the Squid are waiting for their next round of Spleef,a player by the name of Boobman 21 catches their eyes. Later on as they are waiting again after another round, Boobman 21 returns, this time jumping in front of the spectator window much to the two player's amusement.
  • Big Brother Mentor: Skiedude easily appears as an older brother figure for most of the players he brings on his videos.
  • Big "NO!": More like a sudden no, but Skiedude shouts one when he falls suddenly though the Spleef arena.
  • Butt-Monkey: "annhilatorandy" is an AFK player in the M-M-M-Monster Kill video. Skiedude and many other players repeatedly kill him to level up.
    • Soon Skiedude and annhilatorandy (miraculously) are the last remaining players alive, leaving Skiedude to One-Hit Kill him with an arrow.
  • Captain Obvious: Skiedude narrates his Subscriber Built-It challenges. This can lead to him sounding extremely obvious when he is just narrating.
  • Car Fu: His Zombie Driver HD video shows some great examples of this as he uses machine guns, napalm, rockets, and the car itself to blow apart the hordes of the undead.
  • Caught with Your Pants Down: In Skiedude's Subscriber Build-It Challenge, Kc Kc 9 vs. Mr Jibbing, episode, Mr Jibbing's skin is not wearing any clothes other than underwear.
  • Christmas Episode: Skiedude has a double episode in his Garry's Mod series in which he brings the spirit of Christmas to the internet by building Santa's Sleigh.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: In the Kamocraft Subscriber Event Highlights video, the teams in paintball are simply red and blue with each player's head covered with a wool block of their team's color.
    • The Spleef arenas' floors are either red or blue wool.
      • Skiedude is mostly blue and Timmy the Squid is mostly Red.
  • Coming in Hot: In the second collab video with Timmy Squid, Skiedude is rapidly beaten to death by Timmy who jumps off a platform after him.
    • Skiedude has been divebombed and run down many times by players in Survival Games.
  • Companion Cube: In Skiedude's first (and only) Feed the Beast video, he carries around a poisonous potato which he won't get rid of. He even referred to the companion cube, calling it his "Companion Potato..."
  • Crossover: About half of Skiedude's videos have people from other channels or his subscribers in them.
  • Curbstomp Battle: In the Kamocraft Subscriber Event Highlights video, Skiedude plays a round of Survival Games with his subscribers. The only items he grabs from the chests are an apple, a cooked chicken, an arrow, a leather helmet, and four wooden bowls. Seeing he has no choice but to run for his life before the few seconds of peace are up. He dies in 10 seconds by Try-Hard Samurai. He even said he didn't have a chance.
  • Deaf Composer: Also in Skiedude's Subscriber Build-It Challenge, Kc Kc 9 vs. Mr Jibbing, episode, Mr Jibbing couldn't get his Skype to work and hear what Skiedude was saying. Thus, Mr Jibbing was rendered deaf for the most part in the episode. This required Skiedude to type to Mr Jibbing in order for him to know what was going on.
  • Death as Comedy: In his first Planetside 2 video, he tries to revive his Real Life friend and ends up getting shot dead, on top of his half-revived friend to which they both find humorous.
  • Defeat Equals Explosion: In Skiedude's M-M-M-Monster Kill video, if a player is killed, they explode and disappear. It's Actually Pretty Funny.
  • Disney Villain Death: Offscreen, Timmy pushes an enemy player off a ferris wheel.
    • The player lands in water and doesn't die much to his disdain.
  • Distracted by the Sexy: Timmy and Skiedude cannot take their eyes off Boobman 21.
  • The Ditz: Professor Monocle
  • Dramatic Deadpan: One minute and fifteen seconds into Skiedude's Warframe episode, a large mutant is killed and simply disappears leading Skiedude to make a remark about it in a monotone way.
Skiedude: ''...and he just implodes.'
  • Drum Roll, Please: In a few Subscriber Build-It Challenge, videos, Skiedude will sometimes make up his mind on who wins the Build-Off and ask for a drum roll.
    • Skiedude: "I have made up my mind... Drum roll please..."
  • Duel to the Death: In his M-M-M-Monster Kill video, Skiedude and a player named sonicrobbe end up fighting one-on-one a few times out of each other's Revenge.
    • Skiedude and Timmy Squid attempt to have one in both of their collab videos.
    • In a Mine-imator tutorial, Skiedude's Minecraft character fights a snowman on a large ship.
  • Dull Surprise: Even when playing Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Skiedude only manages to get unnerved and doesn't even jump when sudden things happen. More like they just caught him off guard.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Skiedude's first handfull of videos were very simple. He had no intro and poor quality overall. As he gained popularity his videos improved overall.
  • Eat That: Skiedude says things along these lines in his CandyLand Survival Games! episode.
  • Edible Bludgeon: Skiedude and Timmy Squid are armed with wooden bowls in their Survival Games video. (In which you would eat Mushroom Stew out of.)
  • Eskimo Land: In the Robotboyoo vs. Try-Hard Samurai Subscriber Build-It Challenge episode, the two subscribers were tasked to build igloos in a tundra biome.
  • Everything's Better with Rainbows: The subscriber, Dafaria, had a technicolor skin before it was changed.
  • Everything's Better with Samurai: Try-Hard Samurai is the taker of this trope.
  • Extreme Mêlée Revenge: In M-M-M-Monster Kill, Skiedude chases down sonicrobbe who recently killed him, and beats him to death with his wooden sword.
  • Eye In The Sky: Skiedude's Subscriber Build-It challenges involve him supplying the viewers with an aerial view of the building area by flying in Creative Mode.
  • Family-Friendly Stripper: Skiedude remains PG in every video he does, so when Dafaria made a dance club with "support beams" holding the ceiling up, that's what Skiedude left it at. Support beams.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: Skiedude collabs with quite a few subscribers. Some of which involves action games and Minecraft servers that play Survival Games.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Again at the end of the second episode in the with Timmy Squid, series. Right after Skiedude respawns from a round of Survival Games, a normal Steve? skinned player runs right past Skiedude, impaled with arrows.
  • Fridge Horror: In Skiedude's first Let's Build A Ski Resort! video, he made an entire building out of stone brick blocks that spawn Silverfish. But to someone who never saw the video, this building looks absolutely normal... except for the walls that hold dozens and dozens of big, creepy-crawlies.
  • Genre Shift: In more recent videos, Skiedude changes from a monotone voice, to a more enthusiastic voice.
  • Giant Squid: Timmy the Squid's character is a man-sized squid wearing a suit.
  • Giving Someone the Pointer Finger: In Skiedude's third Mine-imator tutorial he teaches the audience how to animate multiple characters. He does this by making his Minecraft avatar and a snowman have an epic battle. They point at each other before they begin the fight.
  • Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Skiedude is extremely PG-rated and never cusses or brings up adult content.
  • Harpoon Gun: Skiedude adds some harpoons to the front of his zombie-apocalypse car in the first episode of his Garry's Mod series.
  • Hell Is That Noise: In Skiedude and Timmy Squid's second collab video, they play Team Fortress 2 in Minecraft on the Skiscape server. When a player is killed, their death rattle sounds similar to a bleating goat or dying cat.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In the Robotboyoo vs. Try-Hard Samurai Subscriber Build-It Challenge, during the drum roll revealing the winner of the Build-Off, Skiedude notices a pair of Creepers enter Robotboyoo's igloo and make themselves at home.
    • Made even better with the drum roll rolling.
    • Robotboyoo's Big "NO!".
  • Improvised Weapon: When given wooden bowls as weapons in Survival Games, Timmy suggests they put the bowls over the enemies' heads so they will be blinded.
  • Incredibly Lame Pun: "We are fighting with bowls." "Bowl-Gang... (Beat) ''...bowl (bull) fighters!" [laugh]
  • Kill It with Fire: In his Zombie Driver HD video, Skiedude gets a napalm-weapon on the front of his taxi which is essentially a flamethrower.
    • Timmy Squid attempts to kill an enemy in Survival Games with flint and steel.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: Skiedude has no experience in flying the air vehicles in Planetside 2 resulting in him sloppily flying one extremely low to the ground, narrowly avoiding a tree and unceremoniously crashing into a cliff.
  • Man in a Bikini: Boobman 21... AGAIN...
  • Moon Logic: What's Skiedude using to steer his custom-made zombie-apocalypse car? A washing machine
    • What does Skiedude use to help support a mountain? Fence posts.
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Almost everything the subscribers make in the Subscriber Build-It Challenge series are based off simple ideas or objects. The subscribers usually will go above and beyond in making their creations flashy and better than the person they are facing. Examples would be:
    • A two-story igloo vs. an igloo dance club.
    • Impressive tree houses with multiple floors.
    • Dance clubs... IN THE SKY
    • Another example of this trope would be in Skiedude's 'New Skin' video. He hypes the audience up with a hook that is pumping the audience up for a new skin that has been shaded. He even makes the new skin pose, strut its stuff, and lead the army of his friends.
  • Naked People Are Funny: Case in point: Mr-Jibbing and Robot-Turkey 12345.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Exaggerated slighty. Most of the players in the Subscriber Build-It challenges have ridiculous names.
    • Try-Hard Samurai
    • Tygoo 7
    • Professor Monocle
    • Timmy the Squid
    • Robotboyoo
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown: Skiedude and Timmy the Squid discover a PVP zone in the Survival Games and Spleef episode. It would only make sense for them to bash each other's skulls in among the other brawlers.
    • In his Darkcraft mod review, Skiedude has made a makeshift mob-arena to test his new weapons and armor that are included in the mod. The armor and weapon combo prove to be extremely overpowered and Skiedude easily wipes the floor with the enemies.
  • No, I Am Behind You: Seen in his collab video with Vasehh, Skiedude is waiting for Vasehh so they can survive together while looking in one spot he presumes Vasehh will approch him from. Vasehh sneaks up behind Skiedude instead.
  • Non-Fatal Explosions: In the Hamster Gamer vs. Minecraftcoal Subscibscriber Build-It challenge again, when Hamster Gamer detonates TNT on his tree house he is completely unharmed.
    • Mostly because they need to use Creative Mode to create the structures. Creative Mode = No damage.
  • Non-Indicative Name: Skiedude has only made two videos related to skiing.
  • Oh, Crap!: "Oh gosh..." Every time something is going wrong.
  • Prison Episode: Skiedude's Prision Server series is essentially this. He must work hard enough to earn his freedom.
  • Put Their Heads Together: In pretty much every episode in which Skiedude has a guest on with him, he asks them what their plan is.
  • Recurring Extra: The squids that randomly appear in the 'Subscriber Build-It challenge' videos return a few times for a few brief moments.
  • Road Runner vs. Coyote: Skiedude and Timmy the Squid trying to stop Robot Turkey 12345 just to look at him.
  • Run or Die: In every Survival Games episode, Skiedude will run to the chests at the start of the match, look quickly, and then run off in a random direction.
    • In one episode, Skiedude doesn't even run to the chests and then yells at his friend for suggesting it.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: Skiedude makes the sound effects for the skeleton with guns in the same Mine-imator episode.
    • He also does the same thing when using the guns mounted to a car in Zombie Driver HD.
    • Most games he plays with ranged weapons will result in him making the noise.
"...pewpewpew..."
  • Self-Deprecation: Skiedude sometimes bashes himself for small things, mostly seen when he is playing solo like in his Let's Build A Ski Resort! series.
  • Sniper Rifle: In his first Planetside 2 video, Skiedude is sniped, revived, then his reviver is then sniped instantly, making Skiedude literally run for a the hills.
  • Sophisticated as Hell: Professor Monocle is seen wearing a golden monocle in the Subscriber Build-It challenge. Sadly he is absolutely clueless and improper.
  • Special Guest: David Norgren, the creator of Mine-imator is interviewed by Skiedude.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: In the Hamster Gamer vs. Minecraftcoal Subscriber Build-It challenge, Hamster Gamer randomly pulls out TNT and blows apart a lower level of his tree house for seemingly no reason. Hamster Gamer didn't even mean to do it, which leads to unanswered questions.
    • His Planetside 2 videos.
  • Shot in the Ass: In Skiedude's M-M-M-Monster Kill video, he is running along and shot with an arrow from behind.
  • Smash Mook: In Skiedude's mod review of Darkcraft, an enemy that is mod-exclusive that looks like a deformed Enderman is incredibly overpowered. With a total of 160 hearts, it also is incredibly fast, makes loud and obnoxious sounds, and has a powerful punch to boot. It zips in close and begin "shanking" Skiedude while running absurdly fast in circles around him all while making loud noises. This trope was taken up to eleven when Skiedude purposely wandered into a crowd of these things.
I wouldn't wish this upon my worst enemy...
  • Studio Audience: Stock audio of an audience cheering and applauding will sometimes appear near the end of Subscriber Build-It challenge videos.
  • That Liar Lies: "We're almost done," Skiedude says to his wife, nine minutes into a half-hour video.
  • That Sounds Familiar: About halfway through the Kc Kc 9 vs. Mr Jibbing Subscriber Build-It challenge," the background music that plays is the same music that appears in the horror game, SCP – Containment Breach'' when the player uses SCP-420-J, which is a blunt of marijuana.
    • MAN DATS SUM GOOD ASS SHIT...
  • This Banana is Armed: Timmy Squid in the Survival Games series doesn't kill a single enemy, and both Skiedude and Timmy are armed with wooden bowls.
  • Time Lapse: Skiedude uses a time-lapse to show the process of him building the Ski Resort in his Let's Build A Ski Resort! series. Complete with charming music.
  • Toilet Humor: In the Timmy Squid vs. Professor Monocle Subscriber Build-It challenge episode,
    • Timmy: "That was a groan of effort... (Beat) ...I promise you I'm not on the toilet."
    • In Planetside 2.
    • Skiedude: "Looks like they pooped their pants."
  • Took a Level in Badass: In Skiedude's 6th episode of his Mine-imator Tutorials, he give the Minecraft skeleton an upgrade. Giving it akimbo pistols in place of a bow! [2]
Skiedude: The skeleton is PACKING!
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: In the second Christmas video of the Garry's Mod series, Skiedude is in an old run-down build and has created a person made out of a statue bust, some sticks, and prop legs. It apparently is supposed to be Santa Clause because there is a broken baby doll on one knee and a hula girl toy on the other.
"And what do you kids want for Christmas?"
    "I want a new arm..."
[As himself] "Man... I had a messed up childhood."
  • Viewer Gender Confusion: Try-Hard Samurai first wore a male skin and has a male-sounding name. Later it is revealed that she is female.
  • Weapon for Intimidation: In his collab video with Vasehh, Skiedude has a bow with no arrows. If he would get into trouble, Skiedude's plan is to intimidate his opponents with the bow.
  • Weather Dissonance: In the Robotboyoo vs. Try-Hard Samurai Subscriber Build-It challenge, video, they are in a snowy biome where lightning cracks and and thunder rumbles. Skeidude quickly lampshades this.
  • Why Are We Whispering?: When playing Survival Games, Skiedude and his friends will sometimes whisper when enemies are around, despite the fact they cannot hear them.
  • "Where? Where?": In every single Survival Games episode, somebody says/does this.
  • Why Did It Have To Be Tanks: Seen in his Planetside 2 videos, Skiedude and his buddy can't seem to get away from the dreadful tanks.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: Try-Hard Samurai's newest skin appears to be a ninja.
  • Zerg Rush: In Skiedude's first Let's Build A Ski Resort! video, he mistakenly built a stone building with the Silverfish-spawning blocks that appear as normal stone bricks. At one point he breaks the whole roof which was made out of the Silverfish blocks and hordes of them came pouring out.
  • Zombie Apocalypse: Skiedude's Zombie Driver HD video is essentially this.
