The One Sith
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eca4b515_5b32_45b1_92f8_9c214e6fe16a.png

A splinter faction of the Sith Order founded during the last years of the New Republic by former Jedi Master A'Sharad Hett, the One Sith represented a drastic departure from the Sith's traditional ways. Gone were the limitations of Darth Bane’s Rule of Two and the encouraged infighting of the ancient Sith Empire, replaced with a rigidly-ordered hierarchy, absolute devotion to Hett (now known as Darth Krayt) and fervent worship of the Dark Side. The One Sith would work in the shadows for over a hundred years, throughout the Yuuzhan Vong War, the Second Galactic Civil War and the reign of the Galactic Alliance, slowly manipulating galactic politics until they finally revealed themselves. The New Sith Order would spark a renewed galactic war before launching a coup against the Fel Dynasty and taking over the revived Galactic Empire, all in a final bid to destroy the Jedi and conquer the galaxy once and for all.

For One Sith members appearing before the events of Legacy, see their section on this page.

    In General
  • Lowered Recruiting Standards: Because the Rule of Two is no longer used, people who under Emperor Palpatine would have been viewed as mere assassins, Inquisitors, or Dark Jedi are officially considered actual Sith in this organization.
  • Red and Black and Evil All Over: The vast majority of the One Sith are covered in red and black tattoos from head to toe, reminiscent of Darth Maul, and like other Sith factions they wear black robes or armor while carrying red lightsabers.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Their eyes are various shades of yellow or orange, reflecting the standard taint of the dark side.
  • Tattooed Crook: They have ritualistic tattoos covering their bodies. These tattoos are red and black for most of the One Sith, but some stick with just the black tattoos.

Volume One

    Darth Krayt

Darth Krayt (A'Sharad Hett)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darthkrayteatlas.jpg
Appears in: Republic | Jedi Starfighter | Obsession | Legacy of the Force | Crosscurrent | Riptide | Fate of the Jedi | Legacy | Legacy Volume II note

The main villain of the series, Darth Krayt is a powerful Sith Lord who abolished Darth Bane's Rule of Two to install the Rule of One. Unlike the other Sith Lords, rather than just gaining power for his own sake, Krayt seeks to bring order to the Galaxy, even if that means causing war or committing genocides. Ruthless and unforgiving, Krayt rules the Galaxy with an iron fist.

He used to be a Jedi Master during the Clone Wars named A'Sharad Hett, who upon seeing the Old Republic and the Jedi Order fall under Palpatine, plus the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, decided to turn to the Dark Side and create a powerful New Sith Order that would keep the galaxy safe and united.

  • Arch-Enemy: To Cade Skywalker, being the one responsible for the death of his father and the massacre of Ossus, along with his obsession with capturing and using Cade for his healing power. He is also this to Roan Fel, having usurped his throne and forced him and his daughter into exile.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He's the founder and leader of the One Sith, and is clearly more powerful and skilled with the lightsaber than any of his subordinates. It helps he had nearly two centuries to perfect his craft to the point only Darth Wyyrlok can put a match against him.
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Upon his fight with Karness Muur's spirit on Had Abbadon, he's capable of understanding and learning how Muur was able to cheat death with the Dark Side, and of using this power to revive himself after Wyyrlok's betrayal and finally getting rid of his Vong implants.
  • Badass Cape: Dons one after discarding his Vong armor.
  • Back from the Dead: Manages to resurrect himself and purge himself of his Vong implants through sheer power after Wyyrlok mortally wounds him.
  • Bad Boss: He abuses Darth Nihl many times for being having not been raised as a Sith and to vent out his frustration after Cade's escape, orders one of his Sith troopers to kill himself as a demonstration of their utter loyalty to him, and sacrifices Moff Geist and his troops on Taivas by ordering his Sith troopers to kill everyone at the Jedi Temple.
  • Becoming the Mask: Pretended to be a Sith Acolyte so the Force ghost of XoXaaan would train him. When Cade pretended to join the Sith, Krayt knew all along he was faking it, but hoped that the same thing would happen.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: He was already on his way ever since Order 66, but torture at the hands of the Yuuzhan Vong sealed his fall to the Dark Side.
  • Berserk Button: He becomes enraged and kill Hosk Trey'lis after the Jedi tells him that he pities him, saying that he doesn't know pity, despite having wanted to force Cade Skywalker to kill Trey'lis right before. He also loses it after Cade mocks him about his Vong implants and how he'll just become a brainless Vong outgrowth.
  • Big Bad: Of the entire series until the end of War, save for the interim period while he's dead, during which time Wyyrlok handled the role.
  • Bio-Armor: Wears a suit of Yuuzhan Vong armor, which, like all their tech, is organic.
  • Body Horror: His Vong infection threatens to do this to him.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: He straight up gets incinerated by the sun itself.
  • Dark Lord on Life Support: His advanced age and Yuuzhan Vong implants are slowly killing him, and he’s forced to enter long periods of stasis in order to prolong his life. He’s hell-bent on capturing Cade Skywalker and turning him to the dark side because he believes Cade’s unique healing abilities can cure him of his affliction. After dying and coming back to life, he appears to have cleansed himself of the implants and became stronger then ever.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: When some of the Mon Calamari help the Galactic Alliance steal a prototype Advanced Star Destroyer from their shipyards, Darth Krayt retaliates by ordering the genocide of the entire Mon Calamari homeworld of Dac, which is home to other sapient species, one of whom, the Quarren, are even allies of the Sith Empire.
  • Dual Wielding: He always fights using two identical Sith lightsabers. Upon his resurrection, he replaced one of them with his original Jedi lightsaber he created back when he was a teenager.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: His appearances before Legacy as Darth Krayt, including the Portent of Doom that led to Jacen Solo's Face–Heel Turn, and his Enemy Mine with Luke Skywalker in Fate of the Jedi against Abeloth.
  • Electronic Eyes: His left eye is a cybernetic prosthetic as his original was taken away by the Yuuzhan Vong.
  • The Emperor: He rules the Galactic Empire after usurping Roan Fel's throne.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Or rather Evil Cannot Comprehend Neutral. He can't understand why Cade doesn't truly fall the Dark Side, and why Cade doesn't want the power the dark side and his healing ability could give him if he become a Sith, as he just wants to be left alone and live his life without constraint. This causes his doom as it lead him to drop his guard during their final duel, believing that he has broken and converted Cade after giving him a vision of the Dark Side, only for Cade to declare himself a Jedi and stab him with his lightsaber.
  • Evil Old Folks: He's well over a hundred years old, and is in fact pushing two hundred by the end of the series.
  • Evil Overlord: He took over the galaxy after purging the Jedi than betraying and usurping Roan Fel's throne.
  • Fallen Hero: He was once an honorable Jedi Master, but he fell to the dark side after Palpatine destroyed the Jedi Order.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: Started out as just a recurring Jedi Knight from the Clone Wars that survived Order 66.
  • Galactic Conqueror: He deposes Emperor Fel and assumes control of the Empire, effectively making him ruler of most of the galaxy.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Serves as this for the Dark Nest Trilogy and Legacy of the Force, with his minions being behind the chaos in the former and Jacen Solo becoming a Sith Lord in the latter after having visions of a Bad Future where Krayt rules the galaxy alongside his daughter.
  • Hurl It into the Sun: Cade makes sure he doesn't come back to life by sending his remains into Coruscant's sun.
  • Hypocrite:
    • He claims that his actions were truly to bring peace to the galaxy and unify it under the Sith, but as Darth Wyyrlok points out after his betrayal he acted more to ensure his own survival than to ensure the success of the One Sith and to bring his vision to life. Likewise, his actions overall only brought more conflict to the galaxy.
    • Despite his own past as a Tusken Raider, a Jedi and bounty hunter, he doesn't trust Darth Nihl and Darth Maladi as much as his other subordinates because they weren't born on Korriban or raised by the One Sith.
  • Knight Templar: His intention is to bring order to the Galaxy more than power for power's sake, which is one of the reasons why the holocron of Darth Bane refuses to help him.
  • Master Swordsman:
    • As a Dark Lord of the Sith, this is a given. Even with his Vong implants and advanced age, he easily kills four Imperial Knights with his lightsabers, and defeats Cade who had beaten Darth Talon and Nihl right before. After his resurrection he slays Darth Wyyrlok and easily mandhandles Cade.
    • He already was this as a Jedi, being able of defeating Aurra Sing despite just being a padawan, defeated the Dark Woman (who later held her own against Darth Vader) in a friendly match, was able of killing all the Clone soldiers who tried to kill him during Order 66, and later held his own against Obi-Wan Kenobi in a duel. He even landed several hits before being beaten.
  • My Death Is Just the Beginning: His first death, anyway. His final one ends the war.
  • My Greatest Failure: Not outing Anakin's murder of the Tusken tribe that killed his mother.
  • No True Scotsman: He's shown consulting the holocrons of Darth Bane, Darth Andeddu, and Darth Nihilus. They are utterly dismissive of him: Bane views him as a fool and castigates him for abolishing the Rule of Two, Nihilus is The Unintelligible as usual but clearly hostile, and Andeddu pranks him by making his yorik coral implants briefly overtake him.
  • No Hero to His Valet: In classic Sith fashion, his second-in-command Darth Wyyrlok overthrows him for becoming a liability to the Sith.
  • Not-So-Well-Intentioned Extremist: His desire to bring peace and order to the galaxy is undermined by the fact it was already at peace and order at the time, which he sabotaged to enable his takeover. Afterwards, his obsessiveness and excessiveness causes his right hand to try to kill Krayt for becoming a liability to the order he preached.
  • Omnicidal Maniac: After rising from the dead and becoming convinced that all life needs to experience death as he did.
  • Order vs. Chaos: He thinks to be the order to the Jedi's chaos.
  • Our Liches Are Different: Becomes a Star Wars version of one after learning how to cheat death.
  • Really 700 Years Old: He was born in 47 BBY, was friends with Anakin Skywalker when he was a young boy, survived Order 66 in 19 BBY, and created the One Sith around 25 ABY. He lived until 138 ABY, and fought Anakin's descendant far down the line, Cade. By this point, he was already in his 180s and even with his Vong infection, he implied he might make it another decade or two. He accomplished all of this by hibernating in order to prevent his Vong infection from killing him.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Due to his infection with Vong biots, he must hibernate to extend his life and prevent the infection from killing him.
  • Secret Identity: Is actually A'Sharad Hett from the prequel-era comics.
  • Shoulders of Doom: His Vong armor naturally includes a pair of large, spiked shoulder pads. After he comes back from the dead and ditches this armor, he starts wearing a new suit of armor... which also has large, spiked shoulder pads.
  • Slowly Slipping Into Evil: A'Sharad Hett's fall to the Dark Side was a progressive and very long process, starting when his father was killed by Aurra Sing. Though he managed to avoid falling to the Dark Side and became a true Jedi, his comrade and friend K'Kruhk admits that he has always felt a darkness inside him. The Clone Wars and the losses he experienced during it, such as the deaths of his padawan Bhat Jul and the woman he loved Xiaan Amersu didn't help, and then the betrayal of his clone soldiers and deaths of the other Jedi during Order 66 caused him to go back to Tatooine as a Tusken warlord who had to be stopped by Obi-Wan Kenobi, who cut his arm and humiliated in front of the Tuskens, forcing him to leave the planet. Then he met and was trained in the way of the Dark Side by the spirit of XoXaaan, one of the original Sith lords, before being captured and tortured horrifically by the Yuuzhan Vong and corrupted further by Vergere, sealing his fate as a Sith.
  • Spikes of Villainy: Though the spikes aren't part of his armor.
  • Start of Darkness: Becoming a bounty hunter after having his arm cut off by Obi-Wan Kenobi.
  • The Usurper: He seized control of the Galactic Empire by marching into Emperor Fel's throne room, striking down the man's body double, and declaring himself the new Emperor to the assembled Moffs while seating himself in the vacant throne.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: All the kindness and faith he had as A'Sharad Hett are long gone.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Over several issues after Cade escapes him.
  • World's Strongest Man: He’s the most powerful Sith Lord of his era and one of the most powerful Sith to ever exist. But despite his immense connection to the Force, his Vong implants limited his power. He truly manages to claim this title after having his Vong implants removed making him stronger than he was before, being the most dangerous Sith Lord since Palpatine.

    Darth Wyyrlok

Darth Wyyrlok III

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/wyyrlok_iii.png

Species: Chagrian

Appears in: Legacy

The third of his name, Wyyrlok serves as Krayt's most trusted adviser.

  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He's Darth Krayt's right-hand and the only member of the One Sith who's truly close to his master in terms of power. He's able of defeating the ancient Sith Lord Darth Andeddu, and of matching his master in battle for some time.
  • The Consigliere: To Darth Krayt, though despite advising, he is anything but loyal.
  • The Dragon: Krayt's Voice and right hand. Briefly becomes a Dragon Ascendant after Krayt dies.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He genuinely loves and care for his daughter Saarai, ordering her to go into hiding upon Darth Krayt's return until the fights are over instead of risking her life.
  • Evil Chancellor: He plots to overthrow Krayt and rule the One Sith himself.
  • Evil Overlord: Briefly becomes the ruler of the galaxy after betraying Krayt and seizing power in his name.
  • Evil Sorcerer: While most of Krayt's main enforcers are warriors, he prefers force abilities.
  • Honest Advisor: He doesn't shy away from expressing his opinions to Darth Krayt, telling him about his doubts that Cade can truly be indoctrinated and become a member of the One Sith, and telling him that they'll lose Mon Calamari shipyards with Krayt's orders of a genocide against them.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: He's much more level-headed than Krayt, which works to his advantage.
  • Legacy Character: He is the third Darth Wyyrlok and his daughter is meant to take on his role and Sith name.
  • Meaningful Name: His name sounds like "Warlock", and he's proficient in Sith magic.
  • Mouth of Sauron: Like his mother and grandfather, one of his tasks is to serve as the Voice of Krayt when the latter goes into hibernation.
  • Number Two: To Darth Krayt, as his Voice.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: He points out that Darth Krayt’s genocide of the Mon Calamari will cost the Empire the use of the Mon Calamari shipyards.
  • Psychic Powers: He's a master of Sith sorcery and as such can project illusions in battle, which he used to defeat and kill Darth Andeddu and tried to do the same with Krayt during their duel.
  • The Starscream: An interesting variation- he betrays Krayt only because he believes Krayt himself has already betrayed his own vision.
  • Undying Loyalty: Subverted toward Darth Krayt, as it turns out that Wyyrlock is really loyal to Krayt's ideals and vision of a galaxy unified under the Sith. Wyyrlock, much like his grandfather and mother, initially loyally served Darth Krayt, helping him with his condition and genuinely trying to find a cure for him. However as Darth Krayt started to show his hypocrisy by prioritizing his healing and survival over his empire and the fruition of his vision, and after an encounter with Darth Andeddu telling him that he can't be a true sith until he has killed his master, Wyyrlock eventually came to believe that Krayt had betrayed his own vision, causing to betray his master to make it happen in his stead.
  • The Unfought: Despite being The Dragon, he's the only one of Krayt's inner circle that never fights the protagonists. In fact, he does't even meet them.
  • Villainous Valor: Give the guy credit; when Krayt comes for his head he not only stands and fights but flat out admits that he has no apologies.

    Darth Nihl

Darth Nihl

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nihlprofile.jpg

Species: Nagai

Appears in: Legacy

A male Nagai warlord turned Sith Lord who became Krayt's military commander. He lead the attack on the Jedi Temple on Ossus, and killed the Jedi Master Kol Skywalker.

  • An Arm and a Leg: Cade cuts off his arm. As punishment, Krayt refuses to let Maladi reattach it and instead forces a Yuuzhan Vong bioform on him.
  • Arch-Enemy: To Cade, at the beginning of the series due to his murder of Kol.
  • Blood Knight: Relishes battle, though to a slightly less suicidal extent than most examples.
  • Co-Dragons: With Talon in Legacy: War.
  • The Dragon: As a 'Hand'. He also becomes one to Wyyrlok, briefly.
  • Dragon Ascendant: Becomes the new leader of the One Sith after the final death of Emperor Krayt.
  • Four-Star Badass: He's a former Nagai warlord who became the Fist of Krayt, the military leader of Krayt's order and empire, before becoming the Hand of Krayt. He's also the one who leads Darth Krayt's army of Sith Troopers after his resurrection.
  • Hero Killer: Is the Sith who personally killed Kol Skywalker, he also killed Wolf Sazen before but he was resurrected by Cade shortly after.
  • In the Back: How he killed Kol Skywalker, who overpowered and injured him after he killed Sazen, electrocuting him with force lightning from behind while Kol was focused on stormtroopers and other siths.
  • Karma Houdini: Survives the war and leads the Sith into hiding, though he did lose his sword arm to Cade in a duel along the way.
  • Meaningful Name: His name is "nil", meaning none.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: He's more hot-headed and ambitious than Talon.
  • The Rival: With Talon for the position of Krayt's Hand. It's more personal on his side.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Goes into hiding along with the rest of the Sith in the final issue after Krayt's death.
  • The Unfavorite: Of Darth Krayt's lackies, he seems to have a particular fondness for tormenting Nihl with him refusing him access to his throne room just before revealing his identity and past to Cade Skywalker, unlike Talon, being pushed by Darth Krayt during his duel with Cade and being punished and demoted after his loss to Cade unlike again Talon who kept her position and got healed despite having lost far quicker to Cade than him. Darth Maladi states that it's because like her, and unlike Talon and Stryfe, he wasn't born on Korriban and raised as a Sith and had a life as a warlord before becoming a sith.
  • You Killed My Father: He killed Cade's, Kol Skywalker. While he survives the series, Cade does get some payback by beating and humiliating him.

    Darth Talon

Darth Talon

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darth_talon.png

Species: Twi'lek

Homeworld: Korriban

Appears in: Legacy | Maul

"We all live or die as Krayt wills, Stryfe. At his word, I would cut out my own heart. Or yours."

A female Twi'lek recently promoted to Sith Lady. Cold and dispassionate, she only seeks to do her master's bidding.

  • Ambiguous Situation: It's not clear if she's actually Lethan (a red-skinned Twi'lek) or if her red skin is a result of the One Sith tattoos.
  • Co-Dragons: With Nihl in Legacy: War after Krayt returns and kills his former right-hand man, Wyyrlok.
  • Dating Catwoman: When she's assigned as Cade's Sith Master, they strike up a sexual relationship.
  • Emotionless Girl: She doesn't seem to have any feelings besides her loyalty to Krayt and her "benefit" with Cade when he tried being a Sith. Cade even states this to Deliah Blue to convince her that his relation with Talon wasn't serious.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Darth Krayt asks her if she cares about her master, Darth Ruyn, and she answers that she does. Not that it stops her from carrying out Krayt's order to execute him as proof of her Undying Loyalty to Krayt, though given Talon later states she believes Ruyn cared about her too in that he let himself be a Sacrificial Lamb so that his apprentice could complete her training. Considering the One Sith is a cult, this mindset and procedure is probably considered normal.
  • Green-Skinned Space Babe: She's a Twi'lek so it comes with the territory. It's a little ambiguous whether it's her natural skin color: naturally red-skinned Twi'leks do exist ("Lethans" are sort of like albinos in being caused by a rare gene mutation), but other One Sith obviously artificially altered their skin color (Chagrians like Darth Wyyrlok are more commonly blue).
  • Karma Houdini: She survives with Nihl and Maladi, and they both go into hiding.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Well, if it's not obvious enough already...
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In the final issue of volume 1, she is one of the Sith who goes into hiding rather than die.
  • Series Mascot: Might as well be. The first issue and the recap issues have her on the cover, and she's probably the most iconic Legacy era character. This can probably be credited to her Green-Skinned Space Babe status. Probably as a consequence, Star Wars: The Old Republic makes it extremely easy to create a Talon cosplay: Twi'leks are a default player race for Sith Inquisitors and there's an option to give them similar tattoos, and after the Legacy of the Sith update you can even give her a more comic-accurate Sith Juggernaut fighting style.
  • Shameless Fanservice Girl: No, she doesn't care how horny her outfit and body makes you. You'd probably be dead before you can set your eyes on her anyway.
  • The Stoic: She cares not for her own feelings, only Krayt's.
  • Stripperific: Her outfit is composed of a two-piece with a loincloth, boots, a headdress, and gloves. Her outfits in Maul aren't much better. Concept of her for The Force Awakens at least covers her midriff.
  • Undying Loyalty: Like many of the other One Sith, she's been trained her whole life to be one of Krayt's attack dogs, ultimately dependent on him despite her high rank and status. She was willing to kill her own master without anh hesitation, despite her attachment and respect for him, on Darth Krayt's order, is perfectly ready to die if he wishes to, to the point that Krayt is fine revealing his true identity and past while she's present, and is the one to free him and help hide his survival, after his resurrection. This is why she falls back on Nihl when the One Sith goes into hiding at the end of the series.

    Darth Maladi

Darth Maladi (Malincha)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darthmaladi.jpg

Species: Devaronian

Homeworld: Devaron

Appears in: Legacy

A Sith Lady and an expert in toxins, poisons, and chemicals as well as torture, interrogation and spying. Still, she's as good with a lightsaber as any other Sith.

  • The Baroness: When compared to Darth Talon.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Formerly Malincha, a young Jedi-in-training whose father was a Jedi. Darth Krayt killed her father and abducted Malincha, breaking her into a Sith.
  • Dragon with an Agenda: After her defeat on Wayland at Cade's hands she is captured by Roan Fel, for who she agrees to create Omega Red in exchange of her getting the right to kill Cade. It turns out that she's still working for Darth Krayt, with her having immuned Sith to her toxin, and planned for Roan Fel to use it to annihilate all life on Coruscant as part of Darth Krayt's plan to "kill and resurrect" the galaxy.
  • Emotionless Girl: She prides herself on her ability to control them, fear in particular. And then she fought Cade
  • Evil Genius: Krayt's top scientist.
  • Interservice Rivalry: With Vul Isen over who's the the best scientist and Plague Master of the Sith, calling him a vermin, refusing to work with him, and deeming herself as far superior to him when it comes to toxins.
  • Karma Houdini: Survives with Nihl, Havok, and Talon.
  • Mad Scientist: The Sith's resident science expert, she's an expert in Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology and poisons, having created and experimented on many dangerous bioweapons, being the one who sabotaged Ossus Projet along her Vong assistant Zenoc Qua, and having created the toxin Omega Red which is capable of annihilating all life on an entire planet.
  • Meaningful Name: Malady (except with an "I" instead of a "Y"), befitting her expertise.
  • Names to Run Away from Really Fast: Maladi is very much like the word "maladie" which is French for "disease".
  • Properly Paranoid: She believes that Darth Wyyrlok III killed and usurped Darth Krayt after Had Abbadon. She's totally right though Darth Krayt turns out to be Not Quite Dead.
  • Raised by Orcs: Her father was a Jedi. Krayt killed him and took Malincha into the Sith.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In the final issue, she ditches the defeated One Sith to go continue her experiments in an isolated location.
  • The Spymaster: She's the head of the Empire's Intelligence division, serving as Nina Calixe's superior and being the one behind the assassination attempt on Roan Fel's life on Bastion. On Wayland she also has a surveillance network using Yuuzhan Vong biotechnology.
  • The Starscream: Agrees to work for Roan Fel against Darth Krayt, in exchange of her request to have Cade Skywalker's head.Except she was faking it.
  • Torture Technician: Part of her job description.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: Well, as far as we know, she used to be a Jedi. Not sure how what her personality was as a kid was, though.

    Darth Havok

Darth Havok (Eshkar Niin)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/havoksfury_leg49.jpg

Species: Iktotchi

Appears in: Legacy

A male Iktotchi Sith Lord, who serves as Inquisitor.

  • Arch-Enemy: To Antares Draco, whom he was the master as an Imperial Knight, for betraying the Fel Empire and murdering Elliah Fel before him.
  • Asskicking Leads to Leadership: He's the High Inquisitor, and is far more formidable than his subordinates that Antares Draco was able of fighting and killing by himself, and being one of the most powerful Sith after Darth Krayt and Darth Wyyrlock, being able of matching and defeating Draco.
  • Break Them by Talking: His attempt to goad Antares into the dark side.
  • Evil Mentor: When he was still an Imperial Knight, he was Antares Draco's Master.
  • Face–Heel Turn: He used to be an Imperial Knight, but then he betrayed the Fel Empire, killed Empress Elliah Fel, and joined the One Sith.
  • Karma Houdini: Escapes death in the final issue along with Nihl and several other Sith.
  • The Kingslayer: As an Imperial Knight, he was sworn to protect the Emperor and his family. He abandoned those vows and slew the Empress before faking his death and defecting to the Sith.
  • Number Two: He is last seen speaking with Nihl, as the new Dark Lord, implying he has replaced Wyyrlok as this.
  • Psychic-Assisted Suicide: Inverted. Marasiah tries to kill herself by summoning Darth Havok's lightsaber to her hand, but Havok uses the Force to prevent her from switching it on.
Darth Havok: No, you will not use my lightsaber to end your life. I forbid it.
  • Psychic Powers: As a Force user, it's a given. As part of his Torture Technician job, he's also very good at causing and using illusions and hallucinations to try to break his victims' will as he does to Antares.
  • Torture Technician: As a Sith Inquisitor.
  • Turn Coat: He used to be an Imperial Knight called Eshkar Niin.

    Darth Stryfe

Darth Stryfe

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stryfe_leg34.jpg

Species: Human

Appears in: Legacy

"I am Darth Stryfe! I am death!"

A male Sith Lord who serves as a military commander and the "Fist" to Darth Krayt.

  • Beard of Evil: His markings look like a goatee and is very much evil.
  • The Brute: Darth Stryfe is big, strong and physically imposing, and he holds a position of authority over the Empire's military as Darth Krayt’s Fist while not being as highly ranked as Darths Wyyrlok, Talon or Nihl.
  • The Dragon: When Darth Wyyrlok takes over as "Regent", he recruits Stryfe as his topmost enforcer.
  • I Fight for the Strongest Side!: When Darth Krayt returns to exact revenge on Darth Wyyrlok for his betrayal, Stryfe announces he'll side with the survivor of their Duel to the Death.
  • The Juggernaut: Is a very tall and physically strong man, and one of the Sith most dangerous fighters.
  • Mutual Kill: He and Wolf Sazen strike each other down at the same time.

    Darth Azard

Darth Azard

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/darth_azard2.jpg

Species: Quarren

Appears in: Legacy

Valuing life—even your own—is a weakness. I am not weak."

  • Arc Villain: He's the main antagonist of the Mon Calamari story arc.
  • Bad Boss: All There in the Manual establishes that he studied the history and military command style of Darth Vader, including Vader's penchant for murdering subordinates that fail him. One admiral chooses to commit suicide rather than face Azard’s wrath after failing him.
  • Brains and Brawn: The brawn to Vul Isen's brain, being a very strong and brutal, but not too bright, warrior.
  • The Brute: Azard is a very strong and brutal fighter, and serve as Darth Krayt’s muscle in the hunt for Gar Stazi and in the genocide of the Mon Calamari.
  • Conveniently Timed Distraction: In issue 50, he gets distracted from his duel with Wolf Sazen when he senses the return of Darth Krayt. This distraction allows Sazen to strike him down.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: After Darth Wyyrlok orders Vul Isen to poison Dac, Darth Azard at least asks what they should do about the other species of Dac, pointing out that the Quarrens sided with the Sith and that the other species remained neutral.
  • The Political Officer: He's assigned to oversee Outer Rim Third Fleet and ensure they remain loyal to the Sith.
  • Suspiciously Similar Substitute: Of Darth Maleval: both are bloodthirsty, short-tempered Quarren prone to kill officers because of You Have Failed Me.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Downplayed. He and Vul Isen have radically opposite views and methods, and Azard clearly doesn't like that Isen become the dominant one in their partnership after the poisoning of Dac, but the two still manage to work together and be an effective team.
  • Those Two Guys: With Vul Isen, once the latter is introduced, they are always seen together after.
  • Underestimating Badassery: Darth Azard is dismissive of Treis Sinde at first and assumes the Imperial Knight will be easy to defeat. He's forced to revise his opinion when Sinde effortlessly shoves a squad of stormtroopers aside and manages to hold his own against the Sith Lord.
  • Undying Loyalty: To Darth Krayt, saying that all that matters to him is to fullfill Darth Krayt's orders, and being happy when he feels Darth Krayt's call via the Force about his return, though this causes his doom as Wolf Sazen takes advantage of this distraction to behead Hazard.
  • Virtue Is A Weakness: Believes that giving importance to life is a weakness, even trying to instill his belief to one of his aquatrooper subordinates.
  • You Have Failed Me: He murders an admiral for failing to stop Gar Stazi. He later cuts an officer in half simply for getting mind-tricked by an Imperial Knight.

    Vul Isen

Vul Isen

Species: Givin

Appears in: Legacy

A Sith scientist who is tasked with finishing the Genocide of Dac. While considered lesser by Azard due to not being a Darth, he is still a loyal member of the One Sith.

  • Admiring the Abomination: He finds the Leviathan and its ability to suck souls to be fascinating.
  • Bald of Evil: As a Givin, he's naturally hairless. As a Sith scientist, he takes pride in crafting toxins and pathogens that kill billions.
  • Batman Can Breathe in Space: As a Givin, a species coming from a planet with multiple atmosphere pressure changes and repeated expositions to the vacuum of space, he has a protective exoskeleton that allow him to survive the void of space and extreme pressure for a while. It allows him to swim and survive in the deep oceans of Dac.
  • Black Eyes of Evil: Like all Givin, he's eyes are completely black and he's a deranged mad scientist willing to kill billions.
  • Brains and Brawn: The brain to Azard's brawn, being a scientist who's far more intelligent and intellectual than the Quarren Sith Lord.
  • The Butcher: Known as "The Butcher of Dac."
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Not him, but even the Hutts, who aren't exactly pinnacles of virtue, are disgusted by his cruelty.
  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: He praises Rulf Yage for his role in the poisoning of Da Soocha and bombardement of Napdu, even calling him the Conqueror of Da Soocha after having been the Hero of Ossus, failing to see how bitter and disgusted Yage is over his participation in both.
  • Evil Genius: He's a Givin, a species known for its incredible intelligence, and is a genius biologist capable of creating terrifyingly dangerous toxins and pathogens and of creating an aquatic leviathan.
  • Faux Affably Evil: Vul Isen has an affable and cultured attitude, but he's also a sadistic monster taking pleasure in breaking populations' will, and eager to create and use bioweapons that can eradicate all life on entire planets.
  • For the Evulz: He admits to Darth Azard that he enjoys breaking a population's will and is more than eager of testing and using his biological weapons on entire planets and populations.
  • Half the Man He Used to Be: Cade slices him in half.
  • Hate Sink: One of the most depraved, sadistic and despicable of the Sith, which is saying something. Vul Isen is a heartless sadistic monster who's willing to poison or give a Fate Worse than Death to entire populations and planets with his biological weapons, and is utterly devoid of empathy toward others. Nobody will miss him after his death at Cade's hands.
  • Interservice Rivalry: With Maladi, whom he calls a witch and resents for her unwillingness to cooperate or share any of her scientific works with him.
  • Knight of Cerebus: His introduction signals a darker change of tone to the story. Things only get worse after his poisoning of Dac, which is one of the darkest and bleakest moments in all of Star Wars Legends.
  • Large Ham: He often makes grand speeches in a theatrical way, most often to announce or praise his biological weapons, and once proudly proclaiming that Rulf Yage is now the Conqueror of Da Soocha after the poisoning of the planet.
  • Mad Scientist: Isen has provided the One Sith with more than a few horrible things from his experiments. Some notable examples include an aquatic version of the Leviathan and a plague that killed uncountable billions on at least two worlds.
  • Non-Action Guy: He's a scientist and while he does has basic duelling skills he is far from being a warrior and he admits that he has never really liked using the lightsaber, that's one of the reasons why he didn't get the title Darth, with Cade Skywalker even mocking him for his lack of skills with it.
  • Pet the Dog: Despite his cruelty and his tensions and disagreements with Darth Azard, Isen does help and frees him from a metal junk piercing Azard's shoulder and tying him to a chair, allowing him to escape alongside him after their loss against Treis Sinde and the Mon Calamari rangers.
  • Plaguemaster: He develops a Synthetic Plague that kills all life on Dac, and later develops one meant to kill all life on Utapau. Cade kills him before he can unleash it.
  • Red Baron: His actions have earned him the rather fitting monicker of "The Butcher of Dac".
  • Sore Loser: He doesn't take his first failure at Treis Sinde and the Mon Calamari rangers' hands well, cursing Dac and all those who live on it.

    Darth Rauder

Darth Rauder

Appears in: Legacy

  • Ambiguously Human: Due to the custom most of the One Sith have of covering their bodies in red and black tattooing, it is unknown if she is human or some other humanoid species.
  • Bad Boss: She constantly abuses Skull Squadron, Gunn Yage in particular, by trying to force them into committing war crimes, and tortures Gunn with the Force and threatens to kill her because she refused to shoot an ejected and unarmed enemy pilot, threatening to kill "Crasher", Gunn's wingmate, when he does it in Gunn's stead. This eventually got her killed by Gunn after she ordered them to kill Jedi younglings.
  • The Corrupter: Attempts to be this to Skull Squadron, and especially to Gunn Yage, ordering them to do war crimes, and torturing or threatening them if they refuse.
  • If You're So Evil, Eat This Kitten!!: She attempts to force Skull Squadron, and Gunn Yage in particular, to do atrocities that they are unwiling to do, such as ordering Gunn to kill an unarmed enemy pilot in space, and torturing her when Gunn refuses until "Crasher" Tev Rimon does it in Gunn's stead; orders them later to shoot unarmed civilian ships during the devastation of Da Soocha and Napdu, and later orders them to destroy a ship with Jedi younglings inside. This proves to be the last straw for Gunn, who shoots her ship and kills her instead.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: She's killed by Gunn Yage, who she had tortured and threatened to kill after trying to force her to shoot a ship with children inside, causing Gunn to shoot her starfighter instead.
  • The Political Officer: She's assigned to oversee Skull Squadron and ensure their loyalty to the Sith, despite not being part of the Imperial Military
  • Would Hurt a Child: Nothing surprising coming from a Sith, she orders Skull Squadron to destroy a ship with Jedi younglings inside after feeling their presence. It turns out to be the one limit Gunn Yage can't go through, and that causes her to finally turn on and kill Rauder instead, and defect to Roan Fel's side.

    Darth Maleval

Darth Maleval

Species: Quarren

Appears in: Legacy
A Sith Lord assigned to oversee the 407th Stormtrooper Division and hunt down defectors to the Empire-in-Exile.
  • Bad Boss: During the attack on the 908th Stormtrooper Division he cuts down both the defectors and any of his own subordinates if they get in the way.
  • Cthulhumanoid: As a Quarren, he's a humanoid whose head resembles the full body of a squid. Extra points for being the member of a cult of, basically, dark magicians.
  • The Political Officer: He oversees the 407th Stormtrooper Division to keep them loyal to the Sith after many stormtrooper divisions defect to Roan Fel's Empire-in-Exile. He even orders Lieutenant Gil Cassel to execute his own brother, Jared Cassel, for defecting to Roan Fel.
  • Red Shirt: He's killed in his first appearance by the mutinous Anson Trask.
  • You Have Failed Me: He executes Lt. Gil Cassel for refusing Maleval's orders to execute his own brother.

"I have your heart in my hand."

Darth Wyyrlok III's daughter, groomed to be his successor as Darth Wrrylok IV.

  • Daddy's Little Villain: She's a young lady being groomed to be the successor of her evil dad.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She cares about her dad, as made evident when she was reluctant to leave him when Krayt attacked the Sith Temple. It seems to be mutual.
  • Little Miss Badass: Being nothing more than an acolyte and defeats Darth Stryfe, a full-fledged Sith, using nothing more than telekinesis.
  • Meaningful Name: In the Sith language, her name means "truth". Fitting for a fledgling warrior born into a Sith cult.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In the final issue.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Her eyes are gold, though it's not clear if this is her natural eye color or if it's from being a dark-sider.

Darth Krayt's Sith Troopers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/25ebc8fb_55cd_409f_a8fd_8e5717f28258.jpeg

Appears in: Legacy

An army of Sith soldiers secretly built by Darth Krayt over the course of several decades. These new Sith troopers are not only very strong in the Force, but they are totally loyal to Darth Krayt and live and die for him. They are revealed after their master's return.

  • Awesome, but Impractical: In the end they prove to be this for the One Sith. While they very numerous and are an incredibly powerful army with their annihilators starfighters and fighting strength, them only living to serve Darth Krayt make them a hindrance once Krayt finally dies for good with all of them going crazy and killing themselves or having to be put out by the other Sith as a result.
  • Cool Mask: All of them wear one, though many of them lose it in battle.
  • Cool Ship: Their Annihilator starfighters are said to be the fastest and most agile starfighters in all of the galaxy, and they have the firepower to easily penetrate capital ships' deflector shields and easily destroy them.
  • Cyborg: They are enhanced with cybernetics to not only make them stronger soldiers but also to allow a perfect symbiose with their Annihilator starfighters.
  • Elite Mook: They were selected by Darth Krayt due to their power in the Force and they can easily take down ordinary Sith warriors, are capable of fighting and defeating Jedi and Imperial Knights, and one of them put a fight against Cade Skywalker and even scar him before being knocked out by Cade's Force-Lightning. Only elite force users can defeat them in battle.
  • Super-Soldier: They were bred and programmed by Darth Krayt to be an undefeatable army and the results isn't disappointing. All of them are very dangerous fighters, capable of taking on and defeating most other Sith, Jedi and Imperial Knights, and requiring the best duelists to be taken down.
  • Undying Loyalty: To the extreme. As a result of their lifelong programming, they are all utterly and flawlessly loyal to Darth Krayt, one soldier even killing himself on Krayt's order as a demonstration. However their loyalty goes to Darth Krayt alone, which means that they all go crazy and uncontrollable after Krayt's final death at Cade Skywalker's hands, forcing Darth Nihl and the rest of the One Sith to destroy those who don't kill themselves.

Volume 2

    Darth Wredd

Darth Wredd

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sith_impostor.jpg
Appears in: Legacy Volume II

A former member of the One Sith. He was Forced into Evil by a minor Sith Lord after the Sith massacred his people, and he dedicated the rest of his life to destroying the One Sith in revenge.

  • Ambiguously Evil: On the one hand, he is trying to destroy the One Sith and thus is making the galaxy a far better place; on the other, he uses extreme measures to do so and is largely driven by selfish revenge. Furthermore, he implies that he is at least open to starting an all-new Sith Order once the old one has been destroyed. Though how serious he was is up for debate since he was effectively committing Suicide by Cop when he makes this offer.
  • Anti-Villain: He is a Sith, but he kills other Sith in order to avenge his family and people.
  • Being Tortured Makes You Evil: Played With. The Sith locked him up and forced him to wear a torturous helmet while they killed his people, and then his Drill Sergeant Nasty master forced him to keep it on during his training. However, while he eventually embraced the Dark Side and proved to be an utterly ruthless killer, he did turn on the Sith at the first opportunity and plot to eradicate the One Sith from the galaxy, so he may have some shreds of humanity left.
  • Cool Mask: Though he was forced to wear it by his master, so he doesn't think it was very cool.
  • Final Boss: He is chronologically the last main antagonist of the Legends continuity.
  • From Nobody to Nightmare: How the galaxy views him. He's a self-proclaimed Darth, for instance. Which, admittedly, is how it should be.
  • General Ripper: While impersonating Yalta Val.
  • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: Wore a helmet-like mask while an apprentice and puts it on Val after stealing his identity.
  • Irony: Despite hating the Sith with all his heart and orchestrating their final defeat, Wredd is ultimately a truer Sith than any of his contemporaries; He draws his power from suffering and hatred, he killed his master and any contenders, and declared himself Darth. While the Sith of old denounced Krayt as a pretender, they might have looked favorably on Wredd.
  • Last of His Kind: Due to miscalculating how far Jao was willing to go, he is ultimately the last chronological Sith in the Legends timeline when Ania shoots him instead of the Jedi killing him, finally ending the Sith once and for all.
  • Rule of Two: He seemingly attacks the One Sith because he intends to reinstate Darth Bane's system, though he also seems more interested in just destroying the Sith in general.
  • The Starscream: As with all Sith to his master. He was also successful.
  • Student–Master Team: Was the student to his master. It doesn't last long once he saw his opening, though. Also, from what was seen of it, the dynamic was reversed.
  • Tragic Villain: Wredd was once just a man on an isolated planet who discovered that he was force sensitive and vowed to follow in the footsteps of the Jedi. He used his powers for good and protection, and did his best to follow what little he knew of jedi teachings. Then a sith lord happened upon his homeworld and defeated him easily, before destroying his entire world and forcing him to become her apprentice. Everything he suffered at the hands of the sith caused him to fall to the dark side, but also to hate the sith. In the end, he orchestrates a plan to kill all sith in existence, including himself.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Panics when he realizes that his ploy won't work on Jao, demanding he do so until he is ultimately slain by Ania.
  • We Can Rule Together: The ultimatum he gives Val, who refuses.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Has white hair to differentiate him from the real Val, who has black hair.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: As per usual. He pulls this on his dim-witted master once he had taught Wredd all he knew.
