The New Galactic Empire

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2953d3e6_7e51_4e2d_bf81_bff34a46af90.png

Founded by the idealistic Jagged Fel of the Imperial Remnant in the aftermath of both the Yuuzhan Vong War and the Second Galactic Civil War, the New Empire (also known as the Fel Empire) represented a change in direction for the once-reviled regime. With the aid of the Jedi Order and his wife, Jaina Solo, Emperor Fel dedicated himself to reform and reconciliation through his Victory Without War program; a drastic change from the reign of Darth Sidious and the military dictators that followed him.

In the decades to follow, the reborn Galactic Empire became a beacon of peace and stability in a galaxy scarred by war, albeit still with some of the harsh ideals it used to have under Palpatine. But this peace was not to last - the manipulations of Darth Krayt and the One Sith saw the Empire take an increasingly draconian and expansionist foreign policy stance, until at last the Sith launched a coup, forcing the Fel Dynasty and their allies into exile and kickstarting a civil war between the Sith regime and Fel loyalists.

Leadership

Royal Family

    In General
The descendants of Jagged Fel and Jaina Solo, the Royal family of the Fel Dynasty proved popular even outside the Empire for their just and even-handed rulership. When the One Sith launched their coup, they barely escaped with their lives, gathering what forces remained loyal to them for a counterattack.
  • Government in Exile: While the majority of the Imperial government has been infiltrated by the Sith and sworn loyalty to them, the Royal family and their loyalists maintain that they are the "true" leaders of the Empire, working to restore their claim to the throne.

    Roan Fel

Emperor Roan Fel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/roanfel_ea.jpg

The grandson of Jaina Solo and Jagged Fel, and thus the great-grandson of Han and Leia Organa Solo. Emperor Roan Fel was widely respected for his wise, stoic attitude and deference to his advisors, particularly the Council of Moffs. Unfortunately, this attitude played right into the hands of the One Sith. Now, he leads what few Imperial forces remain loyal to his grandfather's ideals, determined to reclaim his throne by any means necessary.

  • Benevolent Boss: At first, he prefers to preserve his subordinates' lives, ordering knight Rand Ko to retreat and put his troops to safety after losing a battle to the Sith, and thanks those who sacrificed themselves for him for their loyalty. Sadly he grows out of it after falling to the dark side.
  • Black-and-White Insanity: After falling to the dark side of the Force he comes to see anyone who's not following him without question as traitors or enemies, being willing to assault his own daughter and most loyal Imperial Knights for disagreeing with his plan to use Omega Red, and exterminate everyone on Coruscant with it just for bowing to the Sith's rule.
  • Combat Pragmatist: He makes good use of his cortosis gauntlets to disable Darth Kruhl's lightsaber, and uses a blaster to finish the Sith assassin off.
  • Crusading Widower: His wife was killed by the Sith prior to their takeover.
  • The Emperor: He started out as a relatively benevolent example of this, loved by his subjects and maintaining peace with his neighbors. His unwillingness to challenge his advisors and the Council of Moffs, however, left him unable to stop the Empire's descent into warmongering conquest against the Alliance, and ultimately led to him being deposed by more opportunistic parts of his government. The shame of these failures hardened him, pushing him further into this trope's more villainous connotations...
  • Everyone Has Standards: He refuses to use the bioweapon Omega Red, that Darth Maladi offers to make for him, out of disgust for it and the effects it would have. However after the disastrous defeat at Taivas, while influenced by Hogrum Chalk and his own fall to the Dark Side, he changes his mind and has Darth Maladi make it, and became perfectly willing to use it after utterly falling to the Dark Side.
  • Face–Heel Turn: As the war against the Sith drags on his motives and morals slowly begin to deteriorate from the stress of constant battle. By the final battle, he completely falls to the Dark Side, obsessed with reclaiming his throne and willing to commit genocide to wipe out his enemies.
  • Head-in-the-Sand Management: His misguided refusal to challenge the Council of Moffs and poor judge of character is what allowed the One Sith to take over his Empire. It brings him no small amount of shame, and he is determined to rectify that mistake.
  • He Who Fights Monsters: He starts out as a noble and relatively heroic monarch, dedicated to preserving the integrity and ideals of the New Empire — most notably refusing to utilize a bioweapon recovered from the Sith homeworld in his war against the Alliance out of genuine disgust at the weapon's effects. By the end of the war against the One Sith, he's willing to unleash that very same weapon on Coruscant to wipe out the Sith and their supporters.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Antares Draco stabs him In the Back with a lightsaber at the climax of the final arc to stop him from unleashing a bioweapon against Coruscant.
  • Jerkass: For all his good intentions, he's a very difficult person to be around, especially after the Sith coup and the death of his wife.
  • Knight Templar: Above all else, he is dedicated to destroying the One Sith and the threat they pose to the galaxy, no matter what it takes. This obsession eventually consumes him, driving him to the Dark Side.
  • Mercy Kill Arrangement: He has an agreement with his Imperial Knight bodyguards; if he falls to the Dark Side and can't be redeemed, they must kill him.
  • Motive Decay: His original dedication to the New Empire's ideals of peace and justice are slowly eroded by the war against the Sith, as he slowly becomes more concerned with reclaiming his throne than actually saving the galaxy. By the final battle, he's completely fallen to the Dark Side, obsessed with annihilating his enemies by any means necessary.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: He's a fully-trained Imperial Knight and not someone to be taken lightly. Darth Krayt knows that the emperor he killed is an impostor because he knows that Roan Fel would have given him a fight. Fel later shows his worth by fighting and killing Darth Kruhl, and by later matching Treis Sinde and Antares Draco in combat.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Is willing to lead his Imperial Knights into battle personally.

    Elliah Fel

Empress Elliah Fel

The wife of Emperor Roan Fel and the mother of Princess Marasiah Fel, as well as the sister of Hogrum Chalk. She was assassinated by the treacherous Imperial Knight, Eshkar Niin, who would go on to become a member of the One Sith as Darth Havok.

    Marasiah Fel

Princess / Empress Marasiah Fel

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/marasiahfel.jpg

  • Action Girl: Starts off as an apprentice Imperial Knight and graduates later on. She is as capable as a Jedi.
  • Ambadassador: She is sent to negotiate with the Jedi Council in-exile, being both the daughter of Roan Fel and an Imperial Knight.
  • Heroic Lineage: Like all the Fel bloodline, she's descended from Jaina Solo, and thus Leia Organa and Han Solo, as well as Anakin Skywalker and Padme Amidala.
  • The High Queen: Eventually, after her father's death. She is dedicated to just rule and makes it extremely clear to her Imperial Knights that Blind Obedience is exactly what she does not want - if she Falls, as her father did, then she fully expects them to hold to their oaths bring her back to the Light or strike her down.
  • Morality Chain: A self-imposed was Empress - she makes it extremely clear to the Imperial Knights that they serve the Force before her, and if she goes bad, she fully expects them to do something about it.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Invoked and Averted. As she makes very clear, the Imperial Knights are meant to hold their ruler in check, keeping them in the Light, bringing them back if they Fall, or if all else fails, striking them down. And as Empress, she fully expects them to stick to it. Her father having gone insane might have contributed to this outlook.
  • Rebellious Princess: She thinks she and her father should be out in the action rather then just commanding others from afar.
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: Like her ancestor, Leia Organa, she is very dedicated to ensuring her government serves its people well.
  • You Are in Command Now: After her father's death.

Council of Moffs

    In General
Among the last remnants of the Old Empire, the Council of Moffs served as a check on the power of the Emperor, retaining certain executive powers such as the ability to declare war. In the century after the Yuuzhan Vong War, suppressed ambitions and infiltration by the One Sith saw their slim loyalty eroded, culminating in them siding with Darth Krayt in his coup against the Emperor.

    Morlish Veed

High Moff / Grand Moff / Grand Admiral Morlish Veed

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4527042c_5ccd_4a2b_968f_c63f4f3fa752.jpeg

A very ambitious member of the Moff Council, who alongside his lover Nyna Calixte, allied with the One Sith to start a war with the Galactic Alliance. He wants to someday rule the Empire as the next Emperor, leading to him collaborating with them in overthrowing Roan Fel, but unfortunately for him the Sith prove to be too cunning and end up taking over for themselves.

  • Authority in Name Only: Is overjoyed when Darth Wyrlock names him regent while Darth Krayt is "recovering", only to finds out the hard way that he's in fact still subordinate to the Sith and that Darth Wyrlock is the true new ruler of the Empire.
  • Big Bad Wannabe: Veed wants to rule the Empire by himself, but he's always one step behind the Sith.
  • Casanova Wannabe: Tries to seduce Morrigan Corde unaware that "Corde" is actually Nyna's cover identity.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Downplayed, as he does protest to Darth Wyyrlok about the poisoning of Dac with Quarren ministers yelling about him about it, but it's mainly because Wyyrlok did it without consulting him and that he'll be the one blamed for giving the order.
  • It's All About Me: At first he looks like he has genuine fondness for Nyna Calixe, who's his mistress, but he has no problem trying to cheat on her with Morrigan Corde (unaware that they are the same person) and later tells Nyna that she's nothing but just another subordinate to him. All of this shows that he never really cared about her, and when he finds out about her being a spy for Fel, he has no problem poisoning and trying to shoot her.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain: Despite his arrogance and smugness and largely relying on Nyna to scheme things for him, he's not without some cunning and planning ability on his own, having been able of getting his own intelligence source in Hogrum Chalk, as well as finding out about Nyna's betrayal and poisoning her after. He's also quite good with a blaster.
  • Promoted to Scapegoat: As "regent", he serves as this to the Sith's atrocities such as the extermination of all lifeforms on Dac, with his title being used to make others believe that he's the one who gave the order of committing these atrocities.
  • Surrounded by Idiots: His reaction to the Council, even though he isn't so better than the others.
  • Smug Snake: It becomes very clear that he thinks himself far better than he actually is.
  • The Starscream: Betrayed Roan Fel to the Sith expecting to become the new Emperor. He later tries to plot against the Sith but nothing comes of it.
  • Would Hit a Girl: He attempts to kill Nyna after finding out that she was Roan Fel's spy in the Sith Empire.
  • Wrong Genre Savvy: When he allied with the Sith, he assumed they would put him on the throne, even when Nyla voiced her concerns over their reliability. Needless to say, he learns the hard way their true intentions.

    Nyna Calixte

Director / Moff Nyna Calixte / Agent Morrigan Corde

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nyna_calixte_swleu_6555.jpg

The Director of Imperial Intelligence and an Imperial Moff. She is in an affair with fellow High Moff Morlish Veed, and was formerly in a relationship with another Moff, Rulf Yage, and had a daughter with him, named Gunn Yage, who would go on to become the Imperial pilot captain of Skull Squadron.

Her true identity is Morrigan Corde, an Imperial Intelligence agent that had fallen in love with Jedi Master Kol Skywalker, married him, and had a son together named Cade Skywalker. However, after two years, she left them and rejoined the Empire, soon abandoning her identity as Morrigan and assuming the persona of Nyna Calixte.

  • Action Mom: Cade's mom may not be a Jedi but she is a badass secret agent.
  • Ambition Is Evil: As numerous characters point out, she's loyal to only herself, with her schemes being only to advance her own ambitions. Maladi says that if she was Force-senstitive, she might've made a good Sith... under Darth Sidious, maybe.
  • Badass Normal: Survives being poisoned and shot at long enough to escape and seek her son's help. Also, as Corde, she manages to defeat a Sith Acolyte all by herself.
  • The Baroness: Older than usual, but has the personality.
  • Dating Catwoman: An Imperial spy who fell in love with a Jedi.
  • The Chessmaster: Helped overthrow the Empire and that's just the start.
  • The Consigliere: Serves as this to Morlish Veed in his plots against Roan Fel, and later against the Sith though she is far more competent that he is and not truly loyal to him.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: She supposedly loves Veed and loved Yage, but she does love Gunner. And she genuinely loved Kol and Cade, and she was torn between staying with them and doing her job.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: She found the Sith suspicious and untrustworthy.
  • Family Versus Career: She chose career over Cade, to his anger.
  • Hypercompetent Sidekick: Not the top Moff but one of the few trying to avert Stupid Evil.
  • Luke, I Am Your Father: Interesting variant in that Cade's already figured it out long before she tells him directly. He's still not happy about it.
    • Moff Gromia reveals to Gunner that Morrigan—Gunner's spy partner—and Nyna—Gunner's mother—are the same in hopes that she'll ruin her own mother's reputation out of her grudge towards her, though Gunner refuses to believe it until later.
  • Mama Bear: She jumps back into the Morrigan identity when she learns Cade's been captured.
  • Memento MacGuffin: The circular jewel on her choker is a hologram containing a photo of Morrigan with Kol and baby Cade.
  • Never Got to Say Goodbye: When she parted ways with Kol, she refused to see her infant son once last time because she knew that she'd never be able to leave if she tried to say goodbye to him.
  • No Place for Me There: Refused to go with Kol and baby Cade to Ossus, because the Jedi would never accept her and she felt inadequate to be the mother of a Skywalker. She returned to the Fel Empire to continue her military career as an Imperial Intelligence agent, believing that this was the right thing to do.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Whether or now she is a "heroine" is YMMV, but she's the one responsible for getting the Moff Council to betray the Fel dynasty and joining forces with the One Sith.
  • The Spymaster: She's the Director of Imperial Intelligence and a superb spy by herself.
  • The Starscream: She's a spy for the Sith against Fel and for Fel against the Sith.
  • Walking Spoiler: She's actually Cade's mother in disguise.
  • Wham Shot: Issue #9 ending with Nyna looking at a image of an infant Cade being held by a woman who appears to be Morrigan Corde, with Kol at her side, whispering to herself in the present for Cade to run.
  • When You Coming Home, Dad?: A Gender-Inverted example. She wasn't particularly involved in either of her children's upbringing.
  • Wild Card: The mastermind behind the Sith-Imperial War but later becomes Roan Fel's mole.

    Rulf Yage

Moff / Grand Admiral Rulf Yage

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/moffyage.jpg

The Grand Admiral of the Imperial Navy

  • Berserk Button: Downplayed, but he clearly hates to be called the Hero of Ossus, becoming bitter when Morlish Veed and Vul Isen call him that.
  • Break the Haughty: First, it was Nyna leaving him for Veed because she saw him as better than Yage.
  • Drowning My Sorrows: After leading the Massacre at Ossus, he was drunk the following week, having not enjoyed killing all those people for the Sith.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: He genuinely loves his daughter, Gunner. His break-up with Nyna also left him heartbroken.
  • Everyone Has Standards: He really intended to negotiate with the Jedi at Ossus and was horrified and appalled when the Sith overrode him and forced him to be part in the massacre that followed. He's also disgusted when Darth Azard forces him to bombard Napdu and to send stormtroopers to finish off eventual survivors, and by the poisoning of Da Soocha. His main reason for staying with the Sith was because he was afraid what of would happen to his daughter otherwise.
  • Heel–Face Turn: After his daughter defects back to Roan Fel, he follows her footsteps and abandons the Sith Empire
  • Honor Before Reason: Despite coming to dislike the Sith for their underhanded tactics, he still continues to follow their orders, though that's also in part because he fears they'll hurt Gunner if he tries to act against them. Problem solved when they defect back to the Fel Empire together after Gunner reveals that she feels the same as he does.
  • The Fettered: He has his own code of honor and while he generally follows orders there are things that he's not okay with such as the massacre of Ossus, and later the ravaging of Napdu and poisoning of Da Soocha.
  • Just Following Orders: How he operates. He sees people who can't properly follow instructions as weak, even more so if they make excuses.
    • Doesn't necessarily mean he agrees with everything he is ordered to do. For example, he felt immense guilt after performing the Massacre at Ossus under orders from the Sith, noting to his daughter that while solving problems with killing may be effective, it is irreversible.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: While he didn't like the Jedi all that much, he didn't enjoy massacring them. According to Gunner, he got drunk shortly after.
  • My Greatest Failure: His unwilling and participation in the massacre of Ossus, where the Sith strong-armed him into helping butcher many Jedi, including children.
  • Papa Wolf: After Gunn kills Darth Rauder and defects to Roan Fel's forces he immediately shoot dead the Sith commander who ordered for her to be killed for treason.
  • Parents as People: While he's strict toward her and originally wanted a son instead of a daughter, Rulf does love Gunn and gives her valuable advices and lessons, and the main reason he stays in Krayt's Empire is to protect her.
  • Red Baron: The "Hero of Ossus," though among the Jedi, he's "The Butcher of Ossus". He has come to resent the nickname.
  • Working with the Ex: Since they're both Moffs, he still works with his ex-wife, Nyna. And to rub in salt into the wound, their boss is her new lover.
  • Your Approval Fills Me with Shame: He’s clearly unhappy when Vul Isen congratulates him for his “great victory” against the defenseless civilians of Da Soocha.
Vul Isen: Well. This worked out nicely. Commander Yage, you may order a recall. A great victory! The Hero of Ossus is now the Conqueror of Da Soocha!
Yage: (Thousand-Yard Stare into the middle distance) Yes. Victory…

    Fehlaaur'aitel'loro

Moff Fehlaaur'aitel'loro, "Fehlaaur"

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fehlauur.jpg

Species: Chiss

The director of the Imperial Diplomatic Corps and a member of the Moff Council. He was sent by the Chiss Ascendancy as a liaison to the Fel Empire after the Ascendancy received word that the Empire was about to engage in war against the Galactic Alliance, though this ultimately resulted in Fehlaaur being aMoff to the Sith Empire instead shortly after his arrival.

  • Everybody Has Standards: He seems somewhat perturbed by Darth Krayt.
  • Odd Name Out: He doesn't use the convention of using a core name (which should be "Raithell" in his case). Presumably, he wants to use one of his house names as a Last-Name Basis, especially in the impersonal Moff Council.
  • The Stoic: His demeanor compared to the rest of the Moff Council.
  • Token Nonhuman: He's one of the few aliens we see in a high position in the Sith Empire (not counting the One Sith). Justified, since he's an envoy from the Chiss Ascendancy, their alliance is valuable, so of course he's high-ranking.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We don't see what happens to him after the final battle at Taivas, other than that he was still with the Sith Empire by then.

    Konrad Rus

Moff Konrad Rus

The Moff in charge of the Imperial Mission, a program to help planets to develop themselves and better their living conditions. This and his seemingly docile nature have led other Moffs to think that he'sa spy for Roan Fel.
  • Comic-Book Fantasy Casting: Jan Duursema based Konrad Rus's appearance on actor Henry Gibson.
  • Everyone Has Standards : Even if he's willing to serve and give information to Darth Krayt in exchange for the Imperial Mission to continue, he's shocked when Darth Wyyrlok decrees that the Imperial Mission shall now teach Sith values and the Sith Code to the people of the galaxy and tries to talk to Krayt about it, but Wyyrlok overules him.
  • The Mole: Subverted. Many Moffs suspect or even believe him to be a spy for Roan Fel due to his pacifist attitude and dedication to the Imperial Mission, but it turns out that he's working for Darth Krayt in exchange of him allowing the Mission to continue.
  • Token Good Teammate: Subverted. He may look far more docile and peaceful than the other Moffs and be the leader of the Imperial Mission, which is helping many planets to develop themselves with humanitarian, educational and economic help; but he also helps Darth Krayt willingly by using the Imperial Mission to gather precious info for Krayt.
  • Undying Loyalty : Ultimately his true loyalty belongs to the Imperial Mission rather than to any emperor, though it causes him to serve anyone as long as this emperor allows the Imperial Mission to continues.
  • What Happened to the Mouse? : By the end of Legacy Volume I, he's stated to have gone missing, though the circumstances and reasons for his disappearance are never revealed. Volume II mentions that the Imperial Mission was disbanded after the Sith defeat, though.

    Geist

Moff / General Geist

The topmost General of the Imperial Army by the time of Roan Fel and Darth Krayt.

  • Ambiguously Brown: Has fairly dark-skinned skin.
  • Blood Knight: He views the "Victory Without War" motto of the Imperial Mission with contempt, and is more than willing to personally lead his troops in battle.
  • Frontline General: He personally leads the Imperial troops assaulting the Jedi Temple on Taivas. This makes him a victim of the new Sith soldiers when they shoot at him and his troops to kill everyone at the temple.
  • Everyone Has Standards: While he strongly resented Roan Fel, he wasn't willing to overthrow him or to let the Sith kill him, angrily accusing Veed of being aware and complicit of it when Veed stopped him and the other Moffs from interfering. He also cares about his troops and doesn't want to suffer too high casualties, convincing Darth Stryfe of retreating rather than fighting a losing battle against Gar Stazi and Roan Fel's forces.
  • Nostalgia Filter: He resents the reduced power and influence that the Moffs have under the Fel dynasty and is nostalgic for the Imperial Remnant, under which the Moffs had the highest authority.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: During the evacuation of Dac Geist rightfully points out to Darth Stryfe, who wants to kill the fleeing Mon Calamari refugees in priority, that they should focus on eliminating Gar Stazi but his advices are ignored with Stryfe who threatens to choke him. Later when Roan Fel's forces arrive and turn the tide of the battle against the Sith forces, Geist is able of making Darth Stryfe who is against the retreat listen to reason by pointing out that Darth Krayt wouldn't want them to be destroyed for no purpose.
  • The Resenter: He strongly resented Roan Fel for playing the Moffs against each other, and limiting their power, which is why he pushed for war and sided with the Sith. He now strongly resents the Sith for reducing the Moffs' powers even more than Fel did.
  • Sacrificial Lamb: He and his men are ruthlessly killed by Darth Krayt's Sith Troopers as a way to show just how cruel and uncaring toward his own troops the recently reborn Darth Krayt is, and to show the terrible threat of the Sith Troopers.

Other Moffs

    Nieve Gromia

Moff Nieve Gromia

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/nieve_gromiajpg.jpg
"Everyone has secrets—even her [Morrigan]. And secrets are power…"

The Moff of the Arkanis sector, tasked with eliminating Black Sun pirates harassing Imperial shipments during the Second Imperial Civil War.

  • Bad Boss: She was almost arrested for corruption, but she pinned the blame on one of her subordinates, who would commit suicide. Their suicide was convenient enough for Gromia to make an easier Frame-Up.
  • Meaningful Name: "Nieve" means "snow" in Spanish, befitting her cold demeanor.
  • One-Shot Character: She only appears in the Tatooine arc.
  • Reassigned to Antarctica: She used to be stationed on Coruscant, but a scandal involving corruption in her staff. The alternative was being arrested, but she got out of that. Not that it makes her predicament any better in her eyes, though.

Imperial Knights

    In General
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/f62817a3_9ea5_494c_92ee_3613e05e51a2.jpeg
A splinter sect of the New Jedi Order founded by Jagged Fel, the Imperial Knights dedicate themselves to upholding the laws of the New Empire, fighting the corruption of the Dark Side, and protecting the Imperial Throne. This abandonment of political neutrality sowed no small degree of enmity with the mainstream Jedi Order, who viewed the Imperial Knights as misguided fanatics.
  • Helmets Are Hardly Heroic: They all wear red armor resembling that of the older Imperial Royal Guards, but none of them seem to need helmets to go with the armor.
  • Laser Blade: Like the Jedi and the Sith, the Imperial Knights wield lightsabers. Their sabers have a standardized design with a white blade, representing their more uniform manner of conduct and loyalty to the Empire. A few exceptions exist, however, along with a ceremonial pike variation.
  • No-Sell: Their gauntlets are made of cortosis, preventing enemy lightsabers from disarming them.
  • Praetorian Guard: Their duty is to protect the Emperor and their family from harm. Though if the Emperor falls to the Dark Side and refuses to repent, they are tasked with killing them if need be.

    Hogrum Chalk

Master Hogrum Chalk

The brother of Elliah Fel.

  • The Consigliere: To Emperor Roan Fel, whom he serves as his right-hand and spymaster.
  • Cool Uncle: To his niece Marasiah Fel, whom he consoles after Antares Draco's apparent death, and praises for her compassion and passion.
  • Karma Houdini: He never suffer any consequence for his betrayal of Roan Fel, and role into making him fall to the dark side by convincing him to use Darth Maladi's Omega Red.
  • The Mole: To Veed, being the one who tipped him off about the Jedi-Imperial Knight meeting at Agamar, and about Nyna Calixe being Roan Fel's spy.
  • Praetorian Guard: All Imperial Knights are sworn to protect Emperor Roan Fel.
  • The Smart Guy: Master Armorer of the Imperial Knights.
  • The Unreveal: His true allegiance and motives are never revealed. Was he truly loyal to Veed? Was he instead loyal to his niece and wanted her to rule the Empire in her father's stead? Did he only follow his own interests ? We may never know.
  • Toxic Friend Influence: To Emperor Fel, being the one who brought Darth Maladi to him and convincing him to use her toxin weapon, Omega Red, in an attempt to eradicate the Sith and all life on Coruscant.

    Antares Draco

Master Antares Draco

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/antares_draco_legacy_tv_tropes.jpg

  • Badass Boast: gets a pretty impressive one when battling the One Sith during his You Shall Not Pass! moment on Korriban.
"Come, you hounds of the dark! Come to your deaths! Hurl your power at me! I deny you! I defy you! I am a Knight of the Empire, and I am your doom!"
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Comes with being an Imperial Knight under Emperor Roan Fel.
  • Bodyguard Crush: He's in a relationship with Marasiah Fel.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: Marasiah is just as capable as the Knights.
  • The Hero: Ironically much more so than Cade, the actual protagonist. Antares very much wants to serve his emperor, protect Marasiah and stop the One Sith. Despite being sorely tested, he doesn't slide anywhere near as close to the Dark Side as Cade, nor does he allow Emperor Fel to do so.
  • Heroic BSoD: After revealing to the Sith vital information, under the false belief that they had Marshiah Fel captured.
  • Knight Templar: His fierce devotion to the Royal family and inner anger can lead him to some very rash decisions.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Whenever Roan Fel takes some morally questionable decisions, he's torn between loyalty to him and to do what is right. When Fel, in order to exterminate the Sith, planned to use a lethal virus in order to wipe out all life on Coruscant (not knowing that it'll kill everything except the Sith), Antares fights and kills him.
  • Parental Marriage Veto: Emperor Fel is aware of his feelings for Marasiah, and tells him he's got another thing coming if he thinks he's going to marry her. There is no word on whether they get together after Roan dies.
  • Praetorian Guard: The leader of the Imperial Royal family's personal guard.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Is the red to Ganner's blue. Ganner is level-headed, sensitive and humble while Draco is more hot-headed and impulsive.
  • To Be Lawful or Good: Goes through this debate as time goes on and is forced to make a choice during War, when his Emperor is prepared to unleash a deadly chemical attack on Coruscant. He chooses Good and kills Roan.

    Treis Sinde

Master Treis Sinde

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/treissinde_swl32.jpg

  • Cool Old Guy: He's visibly the oldest of the Imperial Knights. He’s also in peak physical condition and can hold his own against Sith Lords like Darth Azard.
  • Fire-Forged Friends: With the Mon Calamari rangers and especially their leader Tanquar, who he assists in resisting the Sith occupation and genocide for a while, even stating that he does it because Tanquar is his friend.
  • Honest Advisor: To Emperor Fel, warning him against the temptation of the dark side and that it would be his and the other knights' duty to stop him should he fall to it.
  • The Mentor: To Sigel Dare, who was his apprentice, though their views on the Force and the galaxy greatly differ.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure : Unlike Sigel Dare he's actually a nice and reasonable person, able of seeing the big picture and of viewing the Galactic Alliance remnants and Jedi as potential allies against the Sith, and later welcomes Rulf Yage in Roan Fel's name after he defects from the Sith forces. He's also capable of going beyond his loyalty to Roan Fel, choosing to stay on Dac out of loyalty for Tanquar and because he felt that the Force wanted him here until the Jedi Master Asaak Dan volunteered to take his place to allow Sinde to obey Roan Fel's orders of coming back to Bastion without letting the Mon Calamari down.
  • You Shall Not Pass!: He engages Darth Azard in a lightsaber duel to give his allies, who have stolen the Sith Lord’s shuttle, enough time to take off and escape. He survives and is later able to rejoin them, helping the Mon Calamari resistance in the meantime.

    Ganner Krieg

Master Ganner Krieg

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ganner_krieg_legacy_tv_tropes.jpg

Species: Human

  • Best Friend: To Antares Draco, the two are nearly inseparable and Ganner is more than willing to talk about his issues and Antares' own with him.
  • Bodyguarding a Badass: The Royal family is fully capable of defending themselves without him, even with his considerable skills.
  • Dogged Nice Guy: He has an unrequited crush on his fellow knight Azlyn Rae.
  • The Lancer: To Antares, being his voice of reason and right-hand.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Kind, loyal, honorable to a fault, and a skilled warrior. He fits this even better than Draco
  • Nice Guy: He's very calm and compassionate, fitting for a knight.
  • One-Steve Limit: For no explained reason, he shares a first name with New Jedi Order recurrer Ganner Rhysode. He might have been named after him, given the manner of Rhysode's death and the reputation he gained following it.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Is the blue to Draco's red, being much more level-headed and kind.
  • To Be Lawful or Good: Like Azlyn Rae and Treis Sinde, he's genuinely loyal to his emperor but is willing to disobey him if he thinks the emperor is wrong or for the better good. He refuses to follow Roan Fel's order of bringing him back the Muur Talisman, viewing it as evil and sensing that it would corrupt his emperor.

Master Sigel Dare

Species: Human

"Die in the name of the true Emperor!"

  • Ambiguously Brown: Some of the artists depict her as darker skinned.
  • Jerkass: Unlike her master Treis Sinde, she has a cold and haughty attitude and acts smug toward people she feels aren't on her emperor's side, such as the GA Remnant or the Jedi.
  • My Master, Right or Wrong: Unlike Treis Sinde, Azlyn Rae or Ganner Krieg, she takes Roan Fel's orders to the letter and sees his views as the will of the Force; being willing to fight and try to kill her former master because he refused to obey Roan Fel's order to come back to Bastion and wanted to stay and help the Mon Calamari instead.

    Azlyn Rae

Master Azlyn Rae

Click here to see her in life-support armor.

Species: Human

A former Jedi classmate of Cade who survived the Sith takeover. She was rescued by the Imperial Knights and trained by them.

  • A Fate Worse Than Death: The life-support armor Cade makes Bantha place her in. Subverted when she's given a new armor that doesn't require her to wear a Darth Vader-esque mask and helmet.
  • Face Death with Dignity: When she is fatally injured, leading her to be very angry with Cade when he saves her. The fact that she ends up in what is initially a very Vader-like armour does not help.
  • I Owe You My Life: She joined the Imperial Knights for taking her in and training her after the Jedi's destruction
  • Laser Blade: Along with the standard Imperial Knight saber, she also wields an orange lightsaber when undercover.
  • Significant Green-Eyed Redhead: Between her, Mara Jade, Lumiya, and Tenel Ka, it's a Skywalker family tradition to be attracted to these.

  • Defiant to the End: Even when her limbs are mutilated, she refuses to give up where her princess went, necessitating Talon to drain the knowledge of it from her.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: She stays behind to fight Darth Talon so that she can buy Marasiah & Astraal time to escape offworld
  • Mind Rape: Talon uses the power of draining knowledge on her to learn the whereabouts of Marasiah.
  • Sacrificial Lion: She is killed in her only appearance to provide one of the motives for Marasiah to stand against the Sith.

Imperial Navy

Sith Regime

    Krion Grail

Admiral Krion Grail

An admiral of the Imperial Navy who admires the Sith' ruthlessness and scheming, and intends to become the new Grand Admiral.
  • Combat Pragmatism: He admires and emulates the Sith's ruthless pragmatism and use of schemes, having a Mon Calamari crewmate on the Alliance blackmailed into shooting Gar Stazi and using the Galactic Alliance' communication frequencies to track their fleet.
  • Glory Hound: He intends to be the one to eliminate Gar Stazi and the GAR so he can become the new Grand Admiral of the empire.
  • Smug Snake : While not without some cunning and competence, his arrogance and underestimation of his enemies lead to failure several times such as him not planning that the GAR might figure out that he's using their current communication frequency and codes to track them, and change them to stop him from using this advantage and trap him.

    Peto Kelsan

Admiral Peto Kelsan

    Dru Valan

Admiral Dru Valan

A human admiral with a grudge against Gar Stazi, after the Duro admiral escaped him at Caamas leading to his demoting under Sha Dun's command. After Sha Dun's failure to eliminate Stazi and execution at Darth Hazard's hands he's tasked to do the deed, with him being eager to get his revenge on the Duro.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: After his disastrous failure at Dac, he chooses to kill himself with his own blaster rather than to be executed by Darth Hazard.
  • Fantastic Racism : He has the same prejudices against non-humans and belief in human superiority than most members of the old empire had, ordering his non-human subordinates to be replaced by human ones so he can have a "superior crew" and calling Gar Stazi a vermin.
  • General Failure : Downplayed as his first failure to capture Gar Stazi at Caamas came from a reasonable mistake, simply blocking hyperspace ways without knowing that Stazi knew about secret if far less secure lanes, and his plan to capture Stazi at Dac was not a bad one. However he made the error of underestimating Gar Stazi, who had anticipated that he was going into a trap and had taken the measures to foil it and as the battle spirals out of control he lets his anger and grudge against Stazi get the better of him, causing him to take disastrous decisions and fail to stop the GAR from not only escaping but also successfully steal the Imperial and destroy much of the Mon Calamari shipyards.
  • Smug Snake: He's not totally incompetent as an admiral but he greatly underestimates Gar Stazi and his forces, and makes increasingly disastrous decisions as the situation escapes his control.

  • Boyish Short Hair: It makes her look professional.
  • Expy: Jan Duursema partially based her on Starbuck.
  • Everyone Has Standards: She loathes the idea of harming civilians, even enemy ones, and refuses to shoot a helpless enemy pilot who just got ejected from his destroyed ship despite Darth Rauder using the force to torture her into doing it.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She eventually realizes the Sith aren't worth following and joins the Fel Empire.
  • Long Lost Sibling: She's Cade's maternal half-sister, and neither of them knew this - though thanks to Moff Gromia, she eventually figures it out.
  • Meaningful Name: A soldier named Gunn is pretty on the nose.
  • Military Brat: In the Imperial Military like her parents
  • Mommy Issues: She resents her mother for leaving her and her father to be The Baroness as well as being a Manipulative Bitch. This is one thing that she has in common with her brother.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: She's dedicated to proving herself worthy of the family name while Cade would do anything to ditch the responsibility of his own.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks very similar to her mother, Morrigan Corde, as well as her half-brother, Cade.
  • Surprise Incest: With her half-brother, Cade, in the Skywalker family tradition. Mercifully it never goes beyond flirting as a means to an end or mockery, with Cade noting that she's not his type - to the surprise of Jariah, who notes that his type is female, pointing out that he'll even flirt with female Hutts. Given their resemblance, it's implied that he subconsciously recognises their connection.
  • Would Not Hurt A Child: She refuses to hurt children, reaching her limit and finally killing Darth Rauder after she ordered her and her squadron to destroy a ship with Jedi younglings inside.
