"So what do you say, buddy? Let's go rescue the gang!"

Broadside's flagship character, Bucky is a beaver who's normally friendly and cheerful, but tends to get into a lot of accidents.

  • Barrier Maiden: As the Player Character, the game world can't exist without him; thus, why the Dwellers imprison him instead of killing him. All other characters, however? Open season. Problems don't just happen if he dies, either; if you make him escape the island prematurely, you get the "Confused Ending"; a glitched version of the Good Ending begins to play, before Olivia interrupts.
  • Break the Cutie: His happy-go-lucky demeanor crumbles more and more as he finds out more of the truth.
  • Buried Alive: The plot of one of his old cartoons, Grave Mistake, is that he was buried alive and had to try to escape.
  • Busy Beaver: Not so much these days, but he started out as a construction worker, which didn't end well for him.
  • Death Seeker: He admits after seeing the Grave Mistake title card that he fantasizes about being dead for real.
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: Averted. Despite all the shady goings-on at Broadside in his name, Bucky himself has done nothing wrong, and in fact is horrified to discover what's happening, especially since the killer is dressed up as him.
  • Hearing Voices: You, the player, are the voices he hears, and he feels helpless against your influence.
  • Mocky Mouse: He's a friendly rodent who's the face of a major animation company.
  • Playful Cat Smile: With his big buck teeth sticking out the middle. In the 2023 version, he's never seen without it.
  • Rage Against the Author: Downplayed. Whenever he hears mention of Rex Broadside, he grows noticably colder. Stumbler speculates that he's still holding a grudge about his many deaths.
  • Replacement Goldfish: Rex Broadside created him as a hasty replacement after accidentally selling his previous creation, Blot.
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Early in his lifespan, every episode of his Sadist Show ended with his death. He's still angry about it.
  • Tranquil Fury: After growing increasingly frustrated with the player, with his tone and expression growing more angry each time, when he finally tells them in no uncertain terms that he hates them, his tone is neutral.

"Heh... whoops... guess we're both not great at finding!"
A longtime companion of Bucky's, she was assigned to gather coconuts for the villagers, but is having trouble finding some. Bucky needs to be careful about her habit of following a little too closely when helping her.

"Ohhh, look who finally decided to show up! Bit late to the party, aren't you?!"
A world-famous chef with a long neck and a short temper, he's been assigned to cook for the villagers, only to find out too late that he can't turn the ovens off with his lack of Feather Fingers.
  • Angry Chef: He's furious in nearly every interaction with him, and there's a bunch of Shout Outs to Gordon Ramsay (such as the name of his background music and related achievement) around him to match.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: Giovanni is what would happen if Donald Duck was genuinely cruel and hateful instead of merely ill-tempered. He isn't that bad in the game itself, but in background info, he's far worse.
  • Fantastic Racism: To any other species. To Bucky in particular, he never calls him by the correct species, and Stumbler once said that he got similar species-based treatment.
  • Feathered Fiend: Though he's not evil, he's still very antagonistic to everyone he meets, and he was the villain of the Broadside animated movie The Tiny Mouse Chef.
  • Feather Fingers: Averted. He can't figure out how to turn the ovens off with his wings.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: To an extent. In a hidden audio file, he begrudgingly admits that, despite how much he hates Bucky, there is a part of him that really cares about him, and he wants to push him to be the best version of himself.
  • Voices Are Mental: His Voice Grunting changes if you fail his game twice. The new audio clips are labeled "Gary" in the game files.
  • With Friends Like These...: With how much Giovanni berates and insults him, Bucky admits at one point in the April Fools teaser scenes that he isn't entirely sure why they consider each other friends, only able to say "Giovanni's.. well.. He probably cares deep down".

"This is gonna sound... really bad..."
Bucky's nervous little brother, who wasn't on the same boat as Bucky but ended up wrecking on Nulla Terra anyway.

    Blot Bunny

Blot Bunny

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sw64_blot_sketch.png
Rex Broadside's first creation, he was accidentally sold off in a deal gone bad. Broadside got their hands on the rights to him again not too long ago, but not for a cartoon...
  • Chekhov's Gunman: You first see his picture as a display in the museum. His real role isn't until the end of the game.
  • Expy: Of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, being a rabbit who was famous cartoonist's forgotten first creation that was accidentally sold, then replaced by a rodent who would go on to be far more successful than he ever was.
  • The Ghost: We never actually see Blot in person. At least, not as himself.
  • Living Drawing: The plot of his first cartoon was about Rex drawing a rabbit who came to life off the page.
  • Roger Rabbit Effect: Blot's cartoons took place in Rex's room, with Rex himself being Blot's Foil.

"I'm sure you half-expected a... prettier entry than this. You know, I walk up on the stage wearing a fancy outfit, sit down on a throne and recite about how magical we can make the world! Is that... really what I think, though?"
The founder of Broadside Animation, who wasn't happy to see where the company was headed as he grew sicker.
  • All There in the Manual: Most of his characterization is in "7 Fateful Years", a series of audio diaries the link to which was originally hidden inside a video.
  • invokedArtist Disillusionment: Towards the end of his life, he began to hate his own company and what it had become, feeling like his name had been hijacked as a marketing tool and like he'll only be remembered as a manufactured persona rather than a person.
  • Came Back Wrong: Even though (or, in part, because) he was the final Starling created, he got the worst of the mutations and instabilities. He has a double jaw, his right hand is exposed and skinless, his left eye is a third mouth...
  • Chest Monster: His Dweller power is disguising himself as a barrel. He'll be a slightly different shade of green, and Bucky can stop him from transforming by attacking him.
  • invokedDescended Creator: In-universe, Rex was a major character in Blot's cartoons.
  • Exploiting the Fourth Wall: He shares Olivia's power to spy on Bucky through the letterboxing, though he doesn't use it quite as extensively.
  • Fingore: His exposed right hand shows how the others fit their five-fingered hands into those four-fingered costumes: two of his fingers are fused together.
  • Madness Mantra: A tragic one. Though most of his sounds as a Dweller are scrambled radio signals, he manages to get one message of his own through.
  • Mr. Alt Disney: Primarily in their roles of being revolutionary animators, as well as some specific events like the accidental selling of their first characters; their personalities are very different, and Rex hated having to act like Walt for the sake of the public, believing the world will remember him as a manufactured persona rather than a human being after he's gone.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Even when he was alive, his work wasn't exactly devoid of horror. To quote Stumbler, he "had a fascination with the macabre", and Bucky's appearances tended to be Sadist Shows as a vehicle for it.
  • Posthumous Character: Rex died of natural causes before even the events of the backstory.
  • Read the Fine Print: His failure to do so is how he lost the rights to Blot. The contract was ostensibly a merchandising deal, but he was so eager to sign that he didn't notice the merchandising rights weren't the only thing he was handing over.
  • Resurrected for a Job: Bringing Rex back was Mark's ultimate goal, hoping that his return would give Broadside Animation a fighting chance against Disney and save them from the brink of bankruptcy.

    Mark Mullins

Mark Mullins

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sw64_mark_portrait.png

Voiced by: Lorenzo "Fawkes" Onrubia

"Our entire brand's been going down the drain. The stocks-I've never seen stocks get this fucking low. And we're still bringing people on, we're still expanding! At this point... what the fuck's a layoff gonna do?! It'll just sink us further into this shit!"
Rex Broadside's successor and the current CEO of Broadside, he's found himself in a very precarious situation: his company is failing badly, and his wife Harley is suffering from an aggressive cancer. Fortunately, there happens to be a nigh-miraculous material underneath his theme park site which just might solve both problems.
  • All for Nothing: The end result of all of Mark's actions to not only save Broadside, but also his wife, is him saving neither. This also ends with him pissing off Connor Thomas, who would go on to create a playable dossier of Broadside's crimes, and getting a large target painted on his back by the Studiogrounds Vandal.
  • Big Bad: Everything that went wrong in the story, directly or indirectly, can be traced back to him. After its cancellation, the purpose of Shipwrecked became to bring him down once and for all.
  • Horrifying the Horror: There is one person he's scared of: the Studiogrounds Vandal. Some time after the game's events, he tried fleeing to get away from him, but Vandal kept up his pursuit anyway.
  • I Own This Town: Even with his company in the worst state it's ever been in, he still holds an extreme amount of power and influence, and during the climax, he makes sure to let Connor know in no uncertain terms that he's legally untouchable.
  • Money Is Not Power: No matter how much money he siphons from the company for the sole purpose of helping Harley, it's all for nothing.
  • Tragic Villain: Though criminal in how he deals with it, it's hard to not feel at least a little sorry for him for trying to save his dying wife.

"Can we please have earlier meals? I'm tired of wearing this stupid costume all day without food. I'm always starving by the end of the day."
A mascot handler and the second victim of the murders.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Of the three victims of the murders, Gary had it the worst. He not only got his face repeatedly smashed into a microwave, but he also got it burnt off on a stove.
  • Eye Scream: He has a fork in his left eye.
  • Facial Horror: Brandon repeatedly smashed Gary's head into a microwave before shoving his face onto a burning stove. He looks almost unrecognizable in his post-mortem mugshot.
  • Laughing Mad: The sounds he makes as a Dweller are filled with Giovanni's nervous laugh from the scrapped voiced cutscenes.
  • Nothing Is Scarier: His death scene has a censor box over his face while it's happening, and for good reason.
  • Super-Hearing: His Dweller power is that he can hear any audio tapes played on the current map, and will zero in on the sound.

An animator and the final victim of the murders.

  • And You Thought It Was a Game: The reason Nathan was killed is that he was about to leak files relating to the Starling program to his friend Grace over e-mail, innocently thinking they were from a scrapped horror movie. He was attacked right before he could send it.
  • Madness Mantra: Out of the Dwellers, he's the most talkative.
"Bucky-y-y-y! I... really bad bo...need your he really—need bo-your help... STAY OUT OF THE WATER—"
  • Mighty Glacier: Nathan is the slowest of the Dwellers, but he's very strong and has the ability to destroy hiding places — even ones that Bucky is currently in.

"I wish I could rot like you."
A young mascot actor who died of a Fentanyl overdose inside the Bucky Beaver costume. With his body uninjured, he was a perfect test subject.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: He was made to think that he is Bucky Beaver rather than merely playing him; his motivation for killing the others is because he thought they were imposters of his friends. One of the things he can say when he sees the actual Bucky is "I still remember my real face".
  • Depraved Kids' Show Host: He may be a murderous zombie, but he remained an active performer at Studiogrounds until its closure.
  • The Dragon: Though it's unclear exactly what the extent of his motivations were, his actions only helped Mark.
  • The Fourth Wall Will Not Protect You: Instead of targeting Bucky, he targets the player's web browser, opening images with captions where he talks to you.
  • Interface Screw: When he spots Bucky, he'll open a browser window. Hurry up and close it before he takes advantage of Bucky's momentary immobility.
  • Lightning Bruiser: Two of his Dweller powers are that he can build up speed the longer he chases Bucky, and he shares Nathan's ability to destroy hiding places.
  • Nice Character, Mean Actor: Well, "mean" is putting it lightly. Regardless of however he was in life, his actions in death have left him irredeemable. Even the very character he portrays is deeply sickened by his behavior.
The real Bucky: You probably think I'm a monster, right? You saw those videos, think I did it all, right? If someone was wearing your skin... And they went, and maybe even killed someone... Would you like that? Thought so.
  • Resurrected for a Job: In the most mundane sense. Death didn't stop him from being Bucky's official actor; that's him on camera and talking in the TV spot.
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: He died without warning, and without injury. Fentanyl can do that. Broadside scrambled to cover up his death, but they were able to pass it off as him simply getting heatstroke due to his undamaged state and dying inside the suit. His uninjured, undegraded state made him the ideal Starling.
  • Terrible Artist: Mentioned. Nathan (an animator) wanted to be the one to play Bucky and considered asking to trade jobs with him, but decided it was a bad idea because Brandon is awful at drawing.

    Chief Wulf

Voiced by: Squeaks D'Corgeh

"Look. I know it was an accident. Nobody just crashes their boat like that on purpose. But come on, you're scaring our residents half to death!"
The leader of Nulla Terra, he puts Bucky and friends to work after their arrival causes a panic among the villagers.
  • A Day in the Limelight: The side-story Wulf's Recollection is told from his point of view, and is about the day he first met Stumbler.
  • Author Avatar: In-universe, he's the avatar of Connor Thomas. He's aware of this fact, and his feelings about it are complicated.
  • Eye Scream: His left eye is torn-up and blinded with a jagged, highly visible scar. He got it in the struggle against the same rabid wolf that attacked Stumbler.
  • His Name Really Is "Barkeep": When someone asked Stumbler what Chief Wulf's first name is, Stumbler clarified that "Chief" is his actual name, not just his title.
  • Mundane Object Amazement: The most genuinely happy we see him is when he discovers he can find sheet music for his piano on the Internet. He records a tape talking about how excited he is to play "Hot Cross Buns".
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: Though Bucky's first impression of him isn't a good one due to his "kidnapping" his friends, Wulf makes it clear when speaking to Bucky that he does understand that he didn't crash on purpose, but something still had to be done because his people were terrified.
  • Ripple-Effect-Proof Memory: He's the only character who seems to be aware of the game's Multiple Endings.
  • Species Surname: Played with. Wulf is a real-world surname, from an old Germanic word meaning "wolf".
  • Time Loop Fatigue: His awareness of the game's multiple endings is taking a toll on him, especially since he has to watch Stumbler dying over and over again while being powerless to do anything about it.
  • You Bastard!: The conversation where he opens his heart to Bucky about how he feels like nobody will care about him when he's gone can only be accessed by going out of bounds. At the end of the conversation, he suddenly starts talking to the player instead of Bucky, telling you to stop pretending you care; you had to break the game in order to talk to him there in the first place.

I used to be living in town like the others until they... [Beat] ...yeah. Think you can lend me a hand?... literally?"
A rabbit under Chief Wulf's protection who lost his arms in a horrific attack, Bucky first encounters him after earning Wulf's trust. He's trying to paint a picture for a rabbit he's fallen in love with, but he's having trouble doing so for quite obvious reasons.

He has a costume that was created to film the game's TV commercial, but it was stolen the day after filming, and its current whereabouts are unknown.

  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: While the other animal characters are all realistic colors for their respective species, Stumbler is blue.
  • Casanova Wannabe: If he's smitten with someone, he can be pretty forward about it. In an e-mail, he admits he didn't actually see Chelsie between first meeting her and giving her the painting, and didn't even remember her name when asked save for the fact that it started with "C". It's not that much of a surprise it didn't work in the end. This was on purpose on Connor's part, as he described him as a "hopeless romantic" reflecting his opinion of Mark.
  • Complaining About Rescues They Don't Like: After Wulf saved him by killing his attacker, Stumbler begged Wulf to kill him too. It took him a while to warm up to Wulf because he was that miserable.
  • Family-Unfriendly Violence: Even in the horror-free 2023 version, Stumbler's injuries look excruciating, with exposed bone and blood.
  • Freudian Slip: His guilt about his origins have more than once led him to introduce the women in his life as "Harley". In the game itself, he's done this to his crush, Chelsie. When talking to fans, he's done this to the wolf villager who helps him type (who doesn't have an official name yet).
  • Fourth-Wall Mail Slot: He answers e-mails from fans. Much of the background information that isn't in the game itself came from him.
  • Grew Beyond Their Programming: In a sense that, through some unknown method, he gained knowledge of the game world and his creation as a jab at Harley, a terminally-ill woman who had nothing wrong. He's understandably a little upset about it, and even published a video comforting Mark, Harley's husband.
  • Ironically Disabled Artist: He loves to paint, but doesn't have hands. He's pretty upset about how difficult it is, having to use his mouth now, but he still tries.
  • Killed Offscreen: Aside from the bad ending where you let the volcano erupt, Stumbler, alongside most of the residents of Nulla Terra, dies in the true ending of the game thanks to the Dwellers.
Chief Wulf: And yes, he will die. Whether the volcano, those monsters, whatever. I've seen it go down so many times and it hurts.
  • Revenge via Storytelling: He was born from it. His character concept was inspired by the fact that Mark's terminally-ill wife Harley recently had an arm amputated. If this sounds screwed up to you, Stumbler wholeheartedly agrees; he's very upset about where he comes from.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: While we don't see it happen, Chelsie ultimately isn't impressed by his efforts and turns him down.

"Trust me, I'd like to know who's in here, but for now I just gotta assume everyone in here's fine, or... at least doesn't have a criminal record or sorts."

A female rabbit shopkeeper who Stumbler has fallen in love with and wants to paint a picture of. She's set to appear in person in "Hotel 09", but things aren't looking too good for her.

  • Ascended Extra: She didn't even appear in the game proper, only being roughly depicted in Stumbler's drawing of her and not having an official name. In the DLC, she is set to play a much larger role.
  • Blue Boy, Pink Girl: Stumbler and Chelsie's respective fur colors.
  • Eye Scream: She's gouged out her own eyes for a yet-to-be-revealed reason, and wears a bloody bandage over where they used to be.

    J.D.

J.D.

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/s64_jd_render.png

Voiced by: Kylerkersey

A mysterious figure who only shows up in the Town Hall once everyone else has left, he points Bucky to an old barge that may be able to get everyone off the island. Also known as the Studiogrounds Vandal.
  • Black Bead Eyes: Subverted; they only look that way due to the graphical limitations. Those are actually empty sockets.
  • Cartoon Creature: It isn't clear what exactly he... is. He looks sort of like a rodent, but not really. He's just as unidentifiable even outside the game.
  • Only Known by Initials: He only ever goes by "J.D." in the game. His full name, "Jawhne Dough", is the name the Vandal gave himself as an Online Alias, which was only revealed on social media.
  • Persona Non Grata: He isn't trusted by anyone else on the island, thus why he waits until Stumbler and Wulf have both left Town Hall before appearing to Bucky.
  • Sharp-Dressed Man: He's the only character in the game who wears a full outfit, with a tuxedo, bow tie, shoes, and top hat which conveniently cover up his Starling mutations.
  • Token Heroic Orc: He's the only Starling who isn't dangerous. In fact, he's the key to saving the island.
  • Uncertain Doom: Though he's not explicitly said to die, and his counterpart is alive and well, there isn't a single ending where he's known to survive. Even in the Golden Ending, he voluntarily stays behind instead of getting on the barge with everyone else.

    Wolf Villagers

Wolf Villagers

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sw64_wolf_villagers_render.png
Left: Variant 1, Right: Variant 2.
The residents of Nulla Terra. Wolf Variant 1 is the "Rude NPC", and Variant 2 is the "Optimistic NPC".
  • Anti-Nihilist: The Variant 2 in the theater says they know they're probably going to die, but still wants to enjoy life while they can.
  • Color-Coded for Your Convenience: Variant 1 is gray, Variant 2 is brown.
  • Furry Reminder: Played for Horror in Wulf's Recollection. They're not immune to things like rabies, and if they come down with it, they act exactly like a real wolf with rabies does: hostile towards everything and everyone. One of these is what cost Stumbler his arms.
  • Killed Offscreen: In the lower layers of the game, several dead wolves can be seen scattered. The rest of them are confirmed to meet their ends during the True Ending, when the Dwellers attack and kill everything.
  • Spear Carriers: The villagers only really have a few lines of dialogue each, and they aren't really impacting the story in any way.
  • You All Look Familiar: There's only two types, but there's a lot of both.

    Hornz

Hornz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sw64_hornz_render.png
"Romeo. Standby... Lima. Xray. Bravo. Charlie. Golf. Romeo. Standby..."
A strange being living alone in the Slumber Woods, it is the only living threat in the 2023 version, serving as an enemy in Chief Wulf's minigame. Bucky has to avoid being caught by it while searching for boat parts, lest he get thrown out of the woods.
  • Ambiguous Species: By looks alone, you can't really tell what it is, and the wolves don't have any answers either. It vaguely looks like a jackalope, but it's hard to tell if its horns are from its head or its skull mask.
  • Jump Scare: The only source of one during the 2023 version of the game. The third time you fail Chief Wulf's minigame, his jumpscare suddenly has datamoshing akin to a Dweller, but why is unexplained.
  • Military Alphabet: It speaks in the NATO Phonetic Alphabet, but doesn't spell anything comprehensible.
  • Off with His Head!: Offscreen, but its head can be seen on a plaque within Walter's copy of Layer 2, and in one of the walls in the Sewers.
  • The Spook: There isn't really any good hints regarding what Hornz is aside from an enemy in the game. Does anyone in the game know what it is? Does it mean anything outside of it? Nothing is really known aside from its name.

    Officer Howlz

Officer Howlz

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sw64_howlz_render.png
The main character of Blundercover, Cogware's first creation. He makes an appearance in Shipwrecked in the "Hotel 9" DLC.
  • Art-Style Clash: Being an older character both in-universe and out, he still uses the primitive art style from Legacy Edition. He's a wolf who looks nothing like the numerous other wolves in the game.
  • Canon Foreigner: In-universe, he has nothing to do with the Broadside gang or the islanders, visiting from an entirely different game instead.
  • Deadly Nosebleed: He has a permanent nosebleed. The injury that caused it was supposed to happen in his home game.

Connor Thomas

The founder of Cogware Games and the lead developer of Shipwrecked.
  • Asset Actor: In one easter egg, he borrows Chief Wulf's model (with his own name tag) to talk to Bucky about what it means to be an artist. It's not clear exactly what's happening in-universe in this scene, though, as Stumbler claims that's the real Wulf.
  • Better to Die than Be Killed: After leaking the secrets he discovered after being scared for his life to do so for so long, he jumped off of a building. His full reasons for doing so are unknown, but leaving Mark unable to retaliate was a definite factor.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Mark cutting the funding for Shipwrecked, putting all of his struggles to waste, was a fatal mistake; it left Connor with nothing to lose.
  • Gadgeteer Genius: He isn't kidding about his programming abilities being state-of-the-art for the time, and they go deeper than pushing more out of the Nintendo 64 than should be possible. To put it another way, everything beyond the surface in the 1997 version was programmed by him working alone in only a couple of months.
  • No Sympathy: Though his hatred of Mark is well-earned, even Connor's own teammates — and creations — think dragging his dying wife into it and making her a target of mockery was below the belt.
  • Poor Communication Kills: One of his main flaws is that he's unable to articulate exactly what's bothering him, instead keeping his emotions bottled up to the point of exploding at something else entirely. Along with failing to say what his problem is in the middle of an argument, going radio silent towards Broadside made Mark suspicious of him, and not speaking to his teammates when he was at rock bottom made them unable to help him.
  • Runaway Bride: His fiancĂ©e Hilda left him at the altar to raise their son Patrick by himself.
  • Trapped in Villainy: He feels like he is after he found his client's horrible secrets but is unable to speak up about them; both being eaten up by guilt about being, in his mind, complicit, and terrified of what Mark might do to him if he steps out of line now that he knows what levels of evil Mark is truly capable of.

"Hello, friends! Nice to see you all again. Today, I just wanted to leave a little message for my good buddy Mark."
One of two rogue Starlings made of excess matter from Brandon, Olivia, Gary, and Nathan, Jawhne, AKA the Studiogrounds Vandal, has a score to settle with Broadside Animation.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: He was mistaken for Bigfoot by the Spirit Savers while roaming the forests and mountains of Ohio.
  • Cartoon Creature: Though he has some traits of rodents, fish, and birds, he doesn't have an identifiable species of his own. The closest thing one could call him is a pureblooded Starling.
  • Fusion Dance: He was created from part of Olivia, Gary, Nathan, and Brandon.
  • Living Clothes: Unlike the other Starlings, he isn't a human corpse bound to a Creepy Mascot Suit; he is the mascot suit. Or at least, the mass of polymorphic fungus with human DNA taking the form of a mascot suit.
  • My Nayme Is: He had no identity of his own at birth; "Jawhne Dough" is a corruption of the placeholder name "John Doe".
  • Token Heroic Orc: While the extent of his moral compass is unknown, so far he hasn't sought to cause harm to anyone who didn't deserve it, and his in-game counterpart J.D. is downright selfless.
  • The Villain Knows Where You Live: A rare case of this being done against the villain, on his YouTube channel, he uploaded a video of himself paying a visit to Mark Mullins's vacation home that he fled to.
You can stop trying to hide, Mark
You think moving into a vacation home will get me off your tail?

"Oh... it's you! I thought I was the only one rotting down here."
The other rogue Starling, Husk is much less mobile than his counterpart, appearing to be a wooden statue.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: You first hear his voice upon entering Layer 3 on an audio tape, where he very poetically describes Olivia's death scene. You have no way of knowing it's him at the time.
  • The Dreaded: He's the only character that Stumbler will refuse to talk about. Even Broadside seems afraid of him, as his "deformities" listed on his Starling Application Form are that he escaped.
  • Faux Affably Evil: His dialogue is very playful in tone, even as he's relishing in some very horrific things.
  • Final Boss: The last stage of Shipwrecked 64 is a challenge from him, finding ten copies of himself throughout the destroyed Nulla Terra while the Dwellers run rampant.
  • Fusion Dance: He was created from part of Olivia, Gary, Nathan, and Brandon. He says he can hear them calling to him.
  • Manipulative Bastard: He takes sadistic pleasure in tormenting Bucky with no obvious benefit to himself, more than once trying to convince him that he personally is responsible for everything that went wrong. Even after successfully killing Bucky by pushing him past the Despair Event Horizon with this assertion, that still wasn't enough for him, as he gets right back to it after Bucky returns in one of the April Fools 2024 teaser scenes.
"Isn't it strange, Bucky? Everything that happened to these people... it has some scary resemblance to your friends, does it not? What did you do? Hmph. I already know. You gotta figure that out still."
  • Me's a Crowd: What he lacks in mobility, he makes up for in volume. There's often several of him in one place. He's also everywhere, watching Bucky from afar.
  • Mysterious Watcher: You can see him watching Bucky from several inaccessible locations before you properly meet him near the end of the 1997 version of the game.

    The Spirit Savers

The Spirit Savers

Hudson, Jarvis, and Stephanie: A team of three Paranormal Investigators who've set out to investigate reports of a strange creature that they believe to be Bigfoot. Even as others dismiss the reports as a hoax, though, with footage showing the creature to be blue with visible seams on its joints, they still have a feeling something's off. They're set to appear in the "Hotel 9" DLC.
