The Macarena (10th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/themacarenadre1poster.jpeg

Age: 29
From: San Fernando, Andalusia

"¿Qué pasa, maricones? He traído chicharrones." note

  • Dance Sensation: She took her drag name from the mercilessly popular Spanish dance song "Macarena" by Los del Río.
  • Gratuitous English: She'll suddenly break into English, and has a very good grasp of both the language and even the accent, having lived in England a few years prior.
Macarena: [in a perfect standard English accent] Macarena is very conceptual.
  • Humongous Mecha: All previously eliminated queens come Back for the Finale to witness the crowning, and she arrives in a brilliantly-designed Mobile Suit Gundam-inspired look.
  • Motor Mouth: She's one chatty queen, as noted by Carmen in the premiere, with an anecdote for all occasions.
  • Nice Mice: Her promo look is a dragged-up take on a cute, white mouse.
  • Reality Show Genre Blindness: Fully admits that she can't sew, which means she’s at a huge disadvantage in the premiere, where the first task given to the girls is a rummage sale sewing challenge, ultimately leading to her elimination.
  • Spell My Name with a "The": 'Macarena' is a popular Andalusian name, though she added the definite article 'The' as she named herself after the hit song.
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: Loses her wig during her lip-sync, and prior to that, she'd walked the runway with (unforgivably) a piece of sketching paper still pinned to her hem, which is clocked by guest judge Jon Kortajarena.
  • We Hardly Knew Ye: España's very own Porkchop, after she was the first queen to be eliminated this season.

Drag Vulcano (9th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dragvulcanodre1poster.jpeg

Age: 30
From: Las Palmas, Canary Islands

"Canarias es tierra de volcanes, y el escenario del Drag Race no será menos." note

  • Circus Brat: Invoked; all the of the looks she served were carnival-themed in keeping with her Canarian roots.
  • Consummate Professional: The Reunion episode reveals her super-serious attitude when it comes to rehearsals, and Vulkie had no time for her competitors' playful shenanigans, taking them all to task for mucking about during the run-through for the dance challenge. Though as Supremme playfully asks: "did you expect this to be prison?"
  • Crippling Overspecialisation: Whilst her drag was fierce and very much in keeping with her roots, she lacked breadth and felt a little one note. Ultimately, her giant platform heels, which she refused to consider switching out, rendered her relatively immobile in her lip-sync battle with Arantxa (who used every inch of the runway), and led to her early elimination.
  • High-Heel Power: She sports the highest heels yet seen across the Drag Race franchise, which lend her a dramatic, otherly, and imposing presence whenever she's on the runway.
  • The Quiet One: She's a softly spoken queen, despite her imposing presence, and often struggles to be heard (and stand out) over her competitors.
  • Signature Headgear: Sported large head-pieces in all her looks typical to Las Canarias Drag. When she comes Back for the Finale to witness the crowning, she arrives in her most extraordinary head-piece yet — a huge mass of pheasant feathers that boost her right up to at least 12 feet tall.
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's huge in her stilt-heels, towering over all of the other girls, and when she marches into the Werk Room an added stomping sound effect accompanies her every step. Sagitarria notes that when a Canarian queen enters the room, your butthole retracts in fear.

Inti (8th / quit)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/intidre1poster.jpeg

Age: 20
From: La Paz, Bolivia

"Dile a tu padre que se le olvidó esto en casa.” note  (throws underwear out)

  • The Baby of the Bunch: She's the youngest competitor this season at the tender age of 20 and is amongst the first contestants in the whole franchise to be born in the 21st Century, along with Krystal Versace and Anubis of RuPaul's Drag Race UK Series 3.
  • Badass Native: She's of the Quechua People, and for the My Roots runway, she goes with a bold look inspired by the diablada ("devil") costumes sported at carnival time in Bolivia, which were originally used to scare away early settlers.
  • Can't Take Criticism: She responds moodily to the judges' assertions that she needs to present more energy in her performances, pouting at judge Javier Ambrossi, then giving him a Death Glare as he tries to elaborate on his critiques. Ultimately, she's too emotional to withstand the weekly judging, and leaves the competition on her own terms by quitting.
  • Gratuitous English: Injects English catchphrases into her Divas verse.
  • Heroic BSoD: Following the Tribute to La Veneno runway, she suffers a dysphoria-induced breakdown and is overcome with emotion. After Arantxa goes to comfort her, she explains to the girls that sporting La Veneno's signature large breasts made her notice her own deficiency in that department, and triggered her upset.
  • One Head Taller: She's a lithe Statuesque Stunner and is a clear foot taller than petite queens like Pupi and Killer.
  • Religious and Mythological Theme Naming: She takes her drag name from the ancient Inca Sun God. The upper region of her native Bolivia was once part of the Inca Empire.
  • Rousing Speech: Her insightful words on the meaning of being trans soon went viral and she was praised for her candid, rallying cry in support of her community:
Inti: You don't need hormones to be trans. You don't need a therapist's piece of paper that says you're trans. You don't need any of that.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Protests against her negative critiques by completely de-dragging before her lip sync, effectively quitting the competition.

Arantxa Castilla-La Mancha (7th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/arantxacastillalamanchadre1poster.jpeg

Age: 23
From: Badajoz, Extremadura

(Holding a hair dryer) "¿Tenéis un enchufe?" note

  • Bait-and-Switch: For the My Roots runway, she bursts onto the main-stage dressed as a wheel of manchego cheese from Castilla-La Mancha, which she then frisbees away to reveal a dress styled after the black, green and white flag of Extremadura, her actual home Community, accompanied by a jamón ibérico backpack.
  • Comedic Underwear Exposure: The queens' first mini-challenge is a photo-shoot aboard a bucking bronco. Arantxa clings on for dear life, laying fully horizontal whilst hilariously shrieking her head off, and when her mini-skirt inevitably rides up, her gusset goes on full display.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: She's an adorably endearing, sweet-natured queen, despite possessing a laugh that could easily strip paint.
  • Dumb Blonde: Describes herself as "Hermosa y hestúpida" note
  • Embarrassingly Painful Sunburn: For her "Marbella Jet-Set" look in the Drag Ball, she paints herself a nuclear shade of bright pink, as if she's fallen asleep in the sun, in a wry take on Donatella Versace.
  • Eye Take: Arantxa has huge eyes which she loves to bug out even further for comedy effect.
  • Fun Personified: She's a charming comedy-queen who always has a smile on her face, never throws shade, and whose gentle, self-effacing silliness helps her to stand out amongst her competitors.
  • Genki Girl: She's a mad bundle of positive energy both in, and out of drag.
  • Girly Girl: As part of her "Spanish Hannah Montana" comedy schtick, she's very playful and perky, favouring cutesy, pink-toned Turn of the Millennium fashions, as a well as the babydoll mini-dresses of The '60s — though it's all delivered with her tongue firmly in her cheek, of course.
  • The Hyena: She often does a very distinctive scream-laugh, Trixie Mattel-style (unsurprising, since Trixie had a strong influence on Arantxa's drag). The reunion helpfully provides us with a supercut of her laughing.
Arantxa: Mi risa es muy tímida. note
  • Out-of-Character Moment: Arantxa completely abandons her clownish, girly-girl vibe for her Tribute to La Veneno runway, sporting a Stripperific, chest-exposing, crystal-encrusted bodysuit in black that's miles away from her usual style.
  • Point-and-Laugh Show: For Snatch Game, she portrays the queen of trashy Spanish TV, stern talk-show host Belén Esteban AKA "La princesa del pueblo" (The princess of the people).
  • Spoiled Brat: Invoked for her "Aggressive Executive" runway in the Drag Ball, where she portrays a clueless brat who's inherited her father's company and has no idea how to run it. She also gives a Shout-Out to Legally Blonde in her accompanying voice-over.
  • Sublime Rhyme: As well as the nod to Hannah Montana, her drag name is also derived from a popular kids song, using the same alliteration, "Arancha-cha, de la Mancha-cha..."
  • Terrible Artist: Her intended Spanish Art runway was a reference to the memetic botched restoration of an Ecce Homo fresco by an elderly parishioner in 2012, known online as "Potato Jesus" or "Ecce Mono".
  • Transatlantic Equivalent: Her drag character is the Spanish "equivalent" of Hannah Montana — Hannah and Arantxa are common girls' names in the US and Spain respectively, while Montana and Castilla-La Mancha are territories of the respective countries which rhyme with said first names. Like Hannah, who is not actually from Montana, Arantxa is not actually from Castilla-La Mancha, which she treats as something of a jokey secret when in character.
  • Whole Costume Reference: When she comes Back for the Finale to witness the crowning, in true nutty Arantxa style, she bursts onto the runway sporting an outfit that's a sexy take on "Ghostface" from Scream.

Hugáceo Crujiente (6th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/hug3fceocrujientedre1poster.jpeg

Age: 25
From: Valencia, Valencian Community

"Vaya cuadro." note

  • Achilles' Heel: Hugáceo is a fierce visual queen who serves amongst the most creative, if not the most creative looks of the season, and she's a not-half bad dancer to boot, however Drag Race also heavily revolves around comedy, and that's simply not a skill in her wheelhouse. Despite dazzling in a Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra-themed look for the Spanish Artists runway, her poor form in the preceding comedy challenge lands her in the bottom, where she's sent home by Killer after an awesome lip-sync by both queens to "Espectacular" by Fangoria.
  • Animal Motifs: Her sea-blue "Aggressive Executive" runway for the Drag Ball is a clever take on the concept of a 'business shark', complete with hair designed to look like a shark's fin, and a briefcase with a huge bite taken out of it.
  • Circus of Fear: Her promo look evokes a twisted up carnival clown, complete with incredibly creepy fabric talons sewn into the design of the outfit. Her Rummage Sale Reject look was similar, and was designed around a morbid looking pierrot clown — again incorporating strange talon-like appendages — that fashion designer judge Ana Locking absolutely loves, and snatches her the first win of the competition.
  • Fish out of Water: Amongst a group of comedy and catwalk queens, she stands out as something completely different — a highly skilled visual artist — so it's perhaps inevitable that she doesn't have quite the range of skills required to go the whole distance in the competition.
  • Freaky Fashion, Mild Mind: Despite Hugáceo's penchant for surreal, occasionally creepy looks, she's a gentle soul and amongst the sweetest queens this season.
  • Irony: Hugáceo's drag character is themed all around visual art, and yet she is eliminated in an episode specifically dedicated to Spanish painters.
  • Living Drawing: Keeping with her theme of art, she portrays The Mona Lisa for the Snatch Game and whilst her makeup is a brilliant caricature, her responses lack the humour the challenge demands.
  • Shout-Out: Her drag name references "Crustáceo Crujiente", the Castilian Spanish name of the Krusty Krab.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Playing The Mona Lisa in the Snatch Game was originally the intention of Ginny Lemon from RuPaul's Drag Race UK Series 2.
  • Uncanny Valley Makeup: The only Spanish queen with any kind of horror or macabre aesthetic this season, all of her looks are wildly creative, incorporating clownish, cadaver-white and mask-like makeup for many of her runways.
  • Wearing a Flag on Your Head: For her My Roots runway, she creates a tribute to the Non-Binary Flag via a deconstructed look themed around a fire-damaged Valencian falla (traditional sculptures and monuments, often satirical in theme, burned during the festival of St. Joseph) complete with an awesome burning heart effect on her chest.

Dovima Nurmi (5th)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/dovimanurmidre1poster.jpeg

Age: 24
From: Barcelona, Catalonia

"¿Alguien ha pedido una zorra a domicilio?" note

  • Aborted Arc: Was former roommates with Sagittaria and mentioned this beef in the first episode, but the two of them refuse to elaborate to save the drama for later episodes. In the end, the drama wasn't really aired and she was shown being very close to Sagittaria in spite of their fights.
  • Blue Blood: For Snatch Game she portrayed the late María del Rosario Cayetana Fitz-James Stuart y Silva, 18th Duchess of Alba, an eccentric Spanish aristocrat (and in fact the most titled aristocrat in the world) well known for her tight perm, even tighter face, and for being a mainstay on the jet-set social scene in Europe prior to her death.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Introduces herself in the promos as a self-aware bitch by stating she's not in the competition to win, but to mess up her competitors with her presence, and has more than a few shady moments throughout the season to own up to that. However, as the season progresses, she grows closer to her competitors, particularly Carmen, and has more and more trouble keeping her bitchy character up, culminating in her giving up her place in the competition in favor of Sagittaria.
  • The Eeyore: She's self-admittedly a bit of a moody cow, and her default tone falls into flat, downbeat sarcasm a lot of the time, despite the cheerful mayhem going on around her.
  • Friendly Rivalry: To Sagittaria. Former roommates, they had a major falling out over a man, amongst other quarrels, though they're getting on OK on the show itself. Dovima even gives up her spot in the competition when she ends up in the bottom along with Sagittaria by refusing to lip-sync against her.
  • Girl Posse: In a Call-Back to the "Heathers" clique of US Season 3, Dovima, Sagittaria and Carmen dub themselves "The Ugly Busters" in a sly dig against their (unamused) competitors.
  • Goth: Of the Season 1 queens, her drag is the closest to classic gothic style, and she embraces all things dark and sinister, claiming to relate best to evil characters.
  • The Killjoy: The girls will often choreograph a silly entrance for a new day in the Werk Room (synchronised swimmers, aerobics etc) which she finds eye-rollingly tiresome, and refuses to join in with.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: She takes her drag name from both the name of the famous 1950s model Dovima and the iconic American actress Maila Nurmi, who is best known for her role "Vampira".
  • No Historical Figures Were Harmed: For her My Roots runway she presents a a brilliantly executed, dragged-up take on Sant Jordi (St. George), the patron saint of her native Catalonia, complete with an arm encased in full armour and a chainmail coif. Diada de Sant Jordi (St. George's Day) is a celebration of culture and love, represented by books and roses, the latter of which she also sports on the runway.
  • Passive-Aggressive Kombat: Whilst she does cheer up a bit as the series progresses, she's still the queen most likely to volley a barbed comment at her fellow racers — especially Hugáceo, whom she takes particular exception to for no apparent reason — all delivered in an utterly deadpan tone.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: It fast becomes clear that her spiky, waspish exterior masks a deep internal melancholy, and whilst she is capable of having fun (and occasionally even being nice), she puts her armour back on very quickly afterwards.
  • Throwing the Fight: When she finds herself in the bottom 2 versus Sagittaria, she absolutely refuses to battle her long-time friend, whom she feels "deserves the win more" and just... stands there. She's of course then eliminated by default and is one of only four queens across the franchise who have refused to lip-sync; Tammie Brown (S1), Ginny Lemon (UK 2), and finally her fellow competitor, Inti (who refused to lip-sync in favour of Dovima herself).
  • Un-Duet: In a similar situation to Sister Sister from Drag Race UK Series 2, she lip-syncs alone on stage after Inti, who was the other queen in the bottom 2, decides to leave the competition on her own (though Inti left before the lip-sync, while Ginny Lemon did so just at the start of the music). However, the judges still requested she lip-sync by herself in keeping with the spirit and tradition of the competition.

Pupi Poisson (4th + Miss Congeniality)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/pupipoissondre1poster.jpeg

Age: 38
From: Madrid, Community of Madrid

"Graciosa y absurda, os saludo con la zurda." note

  • Always Second Best: Placed high three weeks in a row, with Carmen, Sagittaria and Killer winning instead. Subverted when she finally manages to claim a victory in the fifth episode.
  • Appropriated Appellation: The origin of her drag name is somewhat convoluted. Years ago, she was working at the Parque de Atracciones in Madrid, playing character roles such as a zombie, a monk and Regan MacNeil, the possessed girl from the The Exorcist. From the latter role, she nicknamed herself "Púpula" and when she showed photos to her friends, they started calling her "Pupita" and "Pupi". The "Poisson" part also comes from her role as Regan MacNeil via a play on words; "poseida/poseido" means "possessed" in Spanish, though it's very similar to the name of the sea-god Poseidon, hence "Poisson" ("fish" in French), as she's a "fishy queen". *phew*
  • Culture Equals Costume: For the My Roots runway, she dresses as a Madrilene Chulapa, a variant on the word chulo ("cheeky"), and referring to a working or lower-middle-class group of people in Spanish society who are famous for their elaborate style of dress (think archetypal Spanish women's clothing) and cheeky attitude. The original Chulapos in Madrid were residents of the Malasaña and Maravillas neighbourhoods but the term is used nowadays to refer to anybody from Madrid.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: Pupi is probably the best comedy queen this season; however, come the Roast, she ends up putting just a bit too much spice in her set, joking about Supremme’s previously large ears that she’s since had surgically pinned, which almost lands her in the bottom.
  • The Gadfly: Despite the jolly, smiley facade, she loves to shit-stir in the Werk Room pre and post performance and is amongst the bitchiest queens in confessionals.
  • Gayngst: She had a terrible time growing up as a gay man, and even now her mother has never accepted her sexuality (a "taboo subject") let alone the fact that she's a drag queen.
  • Hidden Depths: She's the best singer of the season, and whilst the other girls are great, and have fun with their verses for the Divas number, Pupi delivers her verse with experienced tone and pitch.
  • Nice Girl: She's crowned as España's inaugural Señorita Simpatía (Miss Congeniality) during the Reunion.
  • The Rival: She and Carmen share a lot of banter throughout the competition — likely due to the fact that they view each other as a big threat. Pupi also serves the occasional face-crack Reaction Shot when Carmen receives better praise than her during judging, or by the girls in the Werk Room.
  • Soapbox Sadie: Her "Trashy Chick" look for the Drag Ball challenge is based around a brassy, overly-supportive gay-rights ally, who whips off her dress to reveal multiple Pride flags sewn into its lining.
  • Yodel Land: Pupi's from Madrid in central Spain, but arrives in the Werk Room dressed like a dragged-up Austrian bierkeller boy — purely for shits and giggles.

Killer Queen (runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/killerqueendre1poster.jpeg

Age: 31
From: Madrid, Community of Madrid

"Estoy escuchando que aumentan vuestras pulsaciones. ¡Es que Killer Queen acaba de llegar al Werk Room! note

  • Cat Girl: Like her fellow Madrilenian, Pupi, she also serves a Madrilene Chulapa-themed look for her My Roots runway, but with a feline twist.
  • Hidden Depths: At the time of filming, she's perhaps the only queen across the entire Drag Race franchise who's an actual full-time medical doctor, as well as a drag-queen.
  • Hospital Hottie: Out of drag, she's a medical professional and one of the best-looking men of the season. In line with her profession, her entrance look is based around futuristic, anime-esque Naughty Nurse Outfit.
  • Humble Hero: She’s a real sweetheart, and lacks the bluster and occasional huffiness of some of her competitors, always taking on board the judges’ critiques and arguably showing the most impressive growth of all four finalists.
  • Ironic Name: She may have "Killer" in her name but she's a doctor out of drag.
  • Mad Artist: She personifies the work of Salvador Dalí for her Spanish Artists runway in a look themed around both the artist himself and two of his paintings; "The Persistence of Memory" and "The Burning Giraffe".
  • Plot-Relevant Age-Up: She pulls a genius maneuver for the Drag Ball, which required three different looks; "Trashy Chick", "Aggressive Executive" and finally "Marbella Jet-Set". Killer presented each look as if they were worn by the same woman throughout the years, from trashy teen, to successful executive and finally, wealthy retiree. Using a consistent pink and black colour palette, and a pink hip-flask as a continuity device, she deservedly won both the Ball, and having also won the Snatch Game earlier in the episode, she consummately wins the week.
  • Satire: Of the political variety: she snatched España's first Snatch Game with her sociopathic portrayal of The Most Excellent Isabel Díaz Ayuso, the (infamously conservative) President of the Community of Madrid.
  • Shout-Out: Her first role in drag was when she portrayed Killer Queen in a for-charity production of We Will Rock You; she later adopted the character's name when she started a proper drag career.
  • Wearing a Flag on Your Head: Her Tribute to La Veneno runway is a fairy-themed ensemble patterned in the colours of the Trans Pride Flag.

Sagittaria (runner-up)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sagittariadre1poster.jpeg

Age: 22
From: Barcelona, Catalonia

"¿Para qué quieres una estrella si tienes una constelación?" note

  • Edible Theme Clothing: For her My Roots runway, she sports a dress designed to look like she's had crema catalana (a dessert native to her home Community) poured all over her from a terracotta dish attached to her shoulder.
  • Friendly Rivalry: To Dovima Nurmi, her former roommate and with whom she previously fell out over a man.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Her Tribute to La Venenonote  look is amongst the briefest ever seen on any main-stage, with only a bejewelled merkin covering her nether-regions.
  • Girl Posse: In a Call-Back to the "Heathers" clique of US Season 3, Dovima, Sagittaria and Carmen dub themselves "The Ugly Busters" in a sly dig against their (unamused) competitors.
  • Hidden Depths: She completely abandoned her hot-girl image for Snatch Game, portraying Encarnita Rojas, a woman from Granada who, along with her siblings Josefina and Miguel, inherited a Roman Baptistery from their grandfather, who told them that they had the mission of taking care and protecting it. One day, a television program stumbled upon them and they became something of a cult interest-piece.
  • Mad Artist: Like Killer, she also personifies the work of Salvador Dalí for her Spanish Artists runway in a look inspired by his "Woman With Flower Head" painting.
  • Named After Somebody Famous: She chose her drag name as an homage to Drag Race Season 10's winner Aquaria.
  • Non-Indicative Name: ...despite this, she's not a Sagittarius, but a Cancer.
  • The Quiet One: She’s softly spoken, somewhat melancholic, and a little more jaded than her youth would usually suggest, but deep down she’s a sweet girl and above all, a compelling performer.
  • Sensual Slavs: Plays an old prostitute with an absolutely ludicrous Eastern European accent for the Mocatriz challenge.

Carmen Farala (winner)

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/carmenfaraladre1poster.jpeg

Age: 31
From: Seville, Andalusia

"He librado muchas batallas en compañía, pero esta guerra, la gano sola." note

  • The Ace: Carmen is the clear front-runner of the season, with three main challenge wins to everybody else's one, only a singular placement below safe in the Snatch Game, and never actually being up for elimination. Unsurprisingly, it's her who takes the crown in the end.
  • Amazonian Beauty: She's the most ripped queen of the season, which lends her drag a powerful, glamazon vibe.
  • But Not Too White: Carmen uses a deep mahogany fake-tan that the other girls worry will smear all over their own outfits when she greets them for a welcome hug.
    • For her "Marbella Jet-Set" runway look in the Drag Ball, she's practically glowing in tribute to Gunilla von Bismarck, a perma-tanned Swedish-German countess and socialite popular in Spain.
Pupi: Really tan — well, super orange, I should say.
  • Cat Girl: Her My Roots runway is inspired by an Iberian lynx, an endangered big-cat that still survives in the wild in her native southern Spain.
  • The Fashionista: Her taste-level never really falters throughout the competition, from the beautiful and well-praised ensemble she sews for her first runway, to the tailored ensemble she creates for the football mini-challenge.
  • Feather Boa Constrictor For the Tribute to La Veneno runway, she initially sports a long, red cape that she soon whips off with a flourish to reveal a huge (fabric) cobra twisting round her body and up her arm.
  • Girl Posse: In a Call-Back to the "Heathers" clique of US Season 3, Dovima, Sagittaria and Carmen dub themselves "The Ugly Busters" in a sly dig against their (unamused) competitors.
  • Lower-Class Lout: For Snatch Game, she portrays Spanish reality TV star and uber-brat Dakota Tárraga, and does a not half-bad job, despite comedy not really being her thing.
  • Lovable Alpha Bitch: As well as naming herself head of the "anti-ugly brigade", she can be quite catty on occasion, is very self-assured, and does banter a lot with the other girls in the Werk Room. However, she's a nice girl at heart, exhibiting an “aw shucks, lil ol’ me” warmer, more playful side in confessionals.
  • Proud Beauty: She's well aware of how pretty she is, and is very vain to boot, noting that "ugly girls are necessary so that we (pretty girls) are appreciated".
  • The Rival: She and Pupi share a lot of banter throughout the competition — likely due to the fact that they view each other as a big threat. Pupi also serves the occasional face-crack Reaction Shot when Carmen receives better praise than her during judging, or by the girls in the Werk Room.
  • Spicy Latina: It's seemingly an obvious fit in a show filled with Spanish drag queens, but Carmen's classically Spanish drag-style, combined with her sexy, sassy personality make her this season's clearest fit with the concept of a feisty, Hispanic beauty.
  • Suspiciously Specific Denial: She has claimed on social media to have never watched any episode of Drag Race, something many fans find hard to believe given how well she has done on the format. She later elaborated on this in interviews, noting that she purposely avoided watching the show to maintain her very Spanish style of drag compared to some of her American-influenced competitors (like Sagittaria or Arantxa), and that she did watch a couple of episodes after she was cast but before starting competing.
Carmen: "Pit Crew"?? What's that? Oh the hunks. C'mon, let's speak Spanish — this is Spain!
  • Textile Work Is Feminine: She's a highly skilled seamstress and creates every garment she wears on the show.
    • Her self-sewn Rummage Sale look in the premiere includes a beautifully-constructed pair of tailored trousers, a bustier and bolero, all in the same blue and white china pattern (pulled from a mattress-case of all things), and is light-years ahead of her competitors' efforts.
    • Makes an entirely new detailed look for the Night of a Thousand Rosalías runway during elimination day (while preparing for the Roast) after realizing she'd brought the same look as Dovima.
  • Whole Costume Reference: For the penultimate maxi-challenge, where the girls have to make-over members of the LGBTQI+ inclusive Titanes rugby club, she styles both her and her partner in a beautifully-constructed plaid theme that she notes was inspired by Sherlock Holmes and Watson.
