     Ryousuke Kaga
Voiced by: Hiro Shimono
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryousuke.png
Our hypersexual protagonist, Ryousuke is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to anything dealing with eroticism. Which even becomes the source of his power once he becomes Lisara's contractee.

  • Accidental Pervert: Only when he isn't doing it on purpose.
    • He tried to see Lisara's panties after she had just gotten out of the tub. Since she was wearing an oversized dress shirt, he shoved his face under it, directly between her legs. Which is when he saw she wasn't wearing anything underneath it.
    • The following episode has him try to stop Quele and Lisara from fighting, and end up groping each of their breasts.
  • All Men Are Perverts: And proud of it, to the point that he literally derives power from it. Thereby, allowing him to repeatedly restore Lisara's power whenever she exhausts herself during battle.
  • Back from the Dead: After dying at the end of episode 11, Lisara uses Mina's power to separate her soul from her body to go after him. She convinces him to return with her by finally confessing her feelings for him.
  • Chick Magnet: Downplayed version, since his harem consists of only three girls. One being his neighbor, Mina, and the other two are death goddesses (Lisara and Quele).
  • Chivalrous Pervert: Despite his perversion, he treasures all women and firmly believes they should be protected, especially Lisara and Mina. It's what prompts Lisara to form a contract with him.
  • The Chosen One: While not the One with huge power that Lisara was originally searching for, he is the legendary hero wielding the legendary blade Gram.
  • Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: Has a bad habit of doing this, especially when it's related to something erotic.
  • Fetish: While he loves women's breasts, he has several major turn-ons that he likes even more. Specifically: their legs, armpits, upskirt panty shots, and girls in wet clothing. Guess who fulfills all four?
  • Half-Human Hybrid: His mother later reveals a story indicating his biological father is from Grimwald. Thus, he's 50% human / 50% grimwaldian (shinigami).
  • Hurricane of Euphemisms: Ryosuke has enough of 'em to make Ayame Kajou proud.
    • Examples: his "kingdom" are his genitals, "sweet buns" (Lisara's breasts), "red threads" (her pubic hair), and he calls Quele's breasts, "melon bread".
    • It's also the basis of his Invisible Dictionary technique, where he uses keywords to trigger erotic images to help him recharge his energy.
  • Idiot Hero: Once he learns that he possesses the legendary sword, Gram, he literally starts to think he's a shonen hero; including Plot Armor. It's short-lived, as his lack of combat experience and common sense nearly gets Quele and himself killed.
  • Imagine Spot:
    • In episode 1, the sight of Lisara's pubic hair made him picture himself standing in a field of tall, red grass.
    • And during his final showdown with Galdrblog, Ryosuke powers himself up with an explicit fantasy about what his first time with Lisara might be like.
  • In-Series Nickname: In the manga and light novel, he's known as, "Erosuke" around his school. The anime adaptation translates it as, "Pervsuke".
  • Life Energy: His internal drives power Lisana through their spirit contract. In a unique way, Ryousuke's Deus Sex Machina allows him to quickly recharge this energy in a few moments and soars much higher than his baseline spirit power (only about 15,000) depending on how highly he's motivated (usually by libido).
  • Lovable Sex Maniac: While a sex maniac, his chivalrous side and true feelings make him quite endearing.
  • A Man Is Always Eager: Zigzagged.
    • When Almeia's maids offer themselves to heal his wounds in episode 7, he's initially unresponsive due to extreme emotional trauma from nearly being killed. They persist until he finally forces them off him.
    • Two episodes later, Quele strips down to her lingerie and gives Ryosuke her first kiss when she confesses her feelings for him, then offers him her virginity. Ryosuke turns her down gently, due to his feelings toward Lisara.
    • Once he and Lisara become official, that changes everything. Episode 12 begins with her forcing him out into the hallway for trying to seduce her in the bath, which he eagerly admits, while stark naked. By the end of the episode, he's still trying, but Lisara refuses again and uses a fire spell to blast him outside - right on top of Iria.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: His subsequent reaction upon finding out he's directly responsible for destroying the device that maintained the barrier between the human world and Grimwald. With the barrier gone, it disrupts the balance of life and death between both worlds; resulting in countless deaths.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Literally. The attack that finished Galdrblog also took out the barrier along with him. Ryosuke takes the news about as well as you'd expect.
  • Official Couple: With Lisara, once she finally admits to her true feelings for him at the end of episode 12.
  • Psychoactive Powers: His energy that he and Lisana fight with is based on his erotic thoughts and feelings. Later, it's shown to be The Power of Love that fuels his ability to awaken Gram to its highest potential.
  • Single-Target Sexuality: Doesn't start out this way. Over time, his omnidirectional libido changes and only Lisara turns him on anymore. He even says it right after Ilia tries to seduce him in the Women's Locker Room.
  • Soul-Cutting Blade: Initially, Lisara stabs him with the lower half of the legend sword Gram to make their contract. Later, it's revealed Ryousuke's father is from Grimwald and hid the top piece of the sword inside him during gestation. Naturally, both pieces fuse together and Ryousuke now possesses the whole of the legendary sword Gram.
  • Will They or Won't They?: Only because Lisara stubbornly refuses to admit she has feelings for him, until the final episode.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Sweet! Ryosuke's just made a contract with a smoking hot death goddess. Except he only has three months to enjoy it, before he dies. Oh.

     Lisara Restall
Voiced by: Aya Endo
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lisara.png
The deuteragonist and the series main heroine. As the heiress of the powerful Restall Family, she's both a shinigami and a high-ranking noble.

  • Action Girl: She comes to the human world to find "The One" in order to save Grimwald from Gardabolg's army; which makes her their primary opposition.
  • Berserk Button: She has two:
    • Her primary one is her cup size, going so far as to threaten Mehshiyori before she revealed Lisara's exact measurements.
    • Ryosuke's lechery is another sore point, especially when he takes liberties with her body. Though seeing him leer at other girls irritates her even more.
  • Betty and Veronica: Lisara's sex appeal and fiery temperament, contrasts with Mina's demure nature and more conservative style of dress.
  • Clothing Damage: Suffered in virtually every one of her fights, as it's used as an indicator of her remaining power. So whenever Ryosuke restores her power, her battle gown mends itself!
  • Cute Monster Girl: Whenever she assumes her shingami form, a small pair of bat wings extend from the sides of her head and her eye color changes to amber.
  • Elemental Hair Colors: Her hair's flame red, which is indicative of her ability to wield fire.
  • Everyone Can See It: It doesn't take long for Iria and Quele to realize Lisara's true feelings for Ryosuke, despite her claims to the contrary.
  • Fantastic Arousal: It only happens once, but being forced to take energy directly from Ryosuke's crotch turned her on, even though his pants were zipped. She's still seen blushing with her eyes half-lidded, after he passes out.
  • Fiery Redhead: Her temperament is the same as her hair color, so she's easily agitated; especially when it comes to Ryouske's perversion.
  • Flaming Sword: She has a large, flaming scythe named Calnoon Pradul.
  • Hypocrite: In episode 3, she mocks Iria's reading on Meshiyori by claiming she'd never forge a contract with someone whose spirit level was only 1 million. Says the girl in a contract with Ryosuke, who barely registered 15,000.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Once Lisara learns that Mina is The One, she decides it would be best for Ryosuke to be together with her, so he can live. Though it hurt Lisara to surrender him to another girl.
  • Kicking Ass in All Her Finery: Her battle attire consists of: a form-fitting black gown with red pinstripes, black elbow-length gloves, and matching thigh-high stiletto heeled boots.
  • Leg Focus: Ryosuke notes the shapeliness of her thighs and calf muscles after she stamps her barefoot on him. She shuts him up before he goes any further.
  • Life Energy: Since the human world lacks Grimwald's ambient energy, the shinigami have to enter contracts with humans and periodically feed off their energy to sustain their existence.
  • Luminescent Blush: She's prone to it whenever Ryosuke gropes her, or ogles her body.
  • Lust Object: To Ryosuke, whose every waking thought is to see her panties, or naked. At one point, he even fantasizes about what Their First Time would be like, to empower himself. Once she officially consents to be his girlfriend, he wastes no time trying to make his fantasy a reality.
  • Magical Girlfriend: Her de-facto relationship with Ryosuke before both confess to each other and it becomes official.
  • Ms. Fanservice: She spends a significant portion of her screentime semi-nude, due to frequent clothing damage and bath scenes. She's also the one who embodies all four of Ryosuke's main fetishes.
  • Official Couple: It takes 'til the end of the 12th episode for Lisara to finally admit she's in love with Ryosuke and consent to be his girlfriend.
  • Oneesama: How Quele refers to her. Type 3.
  • Overshadowed by Awesome: As seen in her folder image, her breasts aren't smallnote , but she's still sensitive about them, due to Iria's being much larger. Until she discovers that Iria uses an illusion spell to hide the fact that hers are actually small.
  • Playing with Fire: Nearly all of her attacks are either fire-based spells, or flame enhanced strikes.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: The red to Quele's blue, being she's more reserved and level-headed, whereas Lisara's quick tempered.
  • Reluctant Fanservice Girl:
    • Each of her fights results in her clothing being dissolved by enemy attacks, leaving her breasts and thighs fully exposed. She's also accidentally groped several times by - guess who?
    • In the OVA, she gets roped into participating in a swimsuit competition against Iria. During which, Quele tampers with Lisara's bikini so it dissolves when sprayed with water; leaving her stark naked in only a wet t-shirt, in front of the entire school!
  • Royals Who Actually Do Something: The Restall Family are high-ranking nobility among the shinigami and preside over Grimwald, with Lisara being its future heiress. Which is why she takes it upon herself to stop Gardalbolg.
  • Sexy Soaked Shirt: She's first seen soaked from standing in the rain, while later episodes have her school uniform being splashed to reveal the red and black lingerie she wears underneath.
  • Shinigami: From the Restall Family, the ruling house of Grimwald. She's also the only one shown to wield a traditional scythe.
  • "Shut Up" Kiss: Done at the climax of episode 12, along with a love confession, to convince Ryosuke's soul to return to his body.
  • Soul-Cutting Blade: Inheritor of the bottom half of the legendary sword, Gram. Which she stabs Ryousuke with to form their contract, inadvertently reforging the whole blade.
  • Stocking Filler: Lisara often wears black thigh-high nylons with lace trim and garter belts; with her school uniform and around the house.
  • Stock Light-Novel Calamity Princess: She is a Fiery Redhead with Playing with Fire and a Flaming Sword, heir to of powerful Restall family that basically rules Grimwald, and a love interest in an ecchi harem fantasy. She is a "Death God" that takes her work very seriously due to her high status and seeks to preserve her high reputation. She makes a contract with the hero that encourages ecchi stuff to happen in the story.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: She looks nearly identical to her mother, Almeia, sans having smaller breasts and non-gradient hair.
  • Tsundere: Of the quick-tempered, "urusai!" ("shut up!") and "baka!" ("idiot!") spouting archetype, especially when dealing with Ryosuke. But she's civil towards almost anyone else.
  • Virgin Tension: She's never been with a guy before, which is why she has to fight off Ryosuke's attempts to get her in bed. The final scene of the series ED sequence implies that he finally succeeds.
  • Women Prefer Strong Men: Implicitly implied in episode 4, when Ryosuke restores her energy by thrusting his pelvis directly into her face, as if forcing her to give him oral sex. Instead of being angered by it, it causes her to blush and submit to him.
Lisara: (whispers dreamily) "S-so... so erotic!"

     Mina Okura
Voiced by: Kaori Ishihara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mina.png
Ryousuke's soft-spoken neighbor and childhood friend. She's had a longstanding crush on him since they were very young.

  • Befriending the Enemy: She became Quele's contractee and energy source just after Quele mind controlled Mina's parents, so she could use their house. Despite this, Mina says she didn't mind because it makes her feel closer to Ryosuke now that they're both contractees.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: She exemplifies the classic shy, soft-spoken, girl with glasses archetype.
  • Betty and Veronica: She's the shy, soft-spoken girl with a crush, in contrast to Lisara who's more straightforward and dresses the part of the seductress.
  • Childhood Friend Romance: Of the Unlucky kind: The reason Ryosuke says he turned her down both times is because they're too close, as friends. Had she been anyone else, he would've said "yes" and even married her.
  • The Chosen One: While not big, damn hero of the story, she is the One with legendary Life Energy that Lisara was originally looking for.
  • Did I Just Say That Out Loud?: By the final episode, she's shocked to learn she's picked up Ryousuke's habit of thinking aloud.
  • Girl Next Door: In both the literal and figurative sense. She's been neighbors with Ryosuke since they were kids and they grew up together as schoolmates. And, while undeniably attractive, she feels plain compared to the three shinigami girls.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To Ryosuke (see the Unlucky Childhood Friend entry).
  • I'm Not Pretty: Mina feels plain compared to the shinigami girls, Lisara most of all. So when Quele entered her in a swimsuit competition to bolster her confidence, Mina withdrew because she believed she didn't stand a chance.
  • Life Energy: She has a massive baseline spirit energy about 1,500,000. Currently Quele's spirit contract. When The Power of Love activates her, she becomes more powerful than any other human. Even enough to help reverse death.
  • Love Confessor: She and Quele are mutuals in this regard.
  • Luminescent Blush: Seen whenever she's around Ryosuke, and when Quele fondles her.
  • Mac Guffin Superperson: To everyone's surprise (including her own), she's "The One" that Lisara and the other shinigami have been sarching for. The near boundless energy contained within her being can potentially save all of Grimwald and stems from her overwhelming feelings towards Ryosuke.
  • Nice Girl: So much, that Mina doesn't take issue with Quele mind controlling her parents, or stabbing her to form a contract between them. It isn't long before her kindness rubs off on Quele.
  • Patient Childhood Love Interest: She's loved Ryousuke since childhood and has patiently waited for them to approach adulthood. Even waits patiently after giving him her first, albeit unclear, confession. Then waits a second time after his resurrection despite how he and Lisara have expressed their mutual love.
  • Shrinking Violet: She's painfully shy around others and only feels comfortable speakingly openly when in private with either Ryosuke, or Quele.
  • Skewed Priorities: Mina doesn't mind the fact that Quele has enthralled her parents, because she gets be part of a provisional contract like her crush.

     Quele Sellier
Voiced by: Arisa Nishiguchi
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/quele.png
Lisara's cousin from the Sellier family, the Restall family's immediate subordinate clan. Refers to Lisara as oneesama. Develops a crush on Ryousuke.

  • An Ice Person: Her powers are primarily ice magic.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: To her cousin, Lisara (covered by the Bitch in Sheep's Clothing entry below).
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Despite her alleged concern for Lisara, she undermines her cousin at every opportunity. Such as aiding Iria against Lisara during their first battle by telling Iria about Lisara's contract with Ryosuke and how to distract him. Then played on her cousin's insecurity about her breasts so she'd refuse to accept Ryosuke's energy, which nearly cost Lisara the match.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Anytime she reverts to her true form, she has a short pair of black horns atop her head that curve backwards.
  • First Kiss: Seen in episode 8, when she gives hers to Ryosuke.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Quele finally stops antagonizing Lisara, after Mina helps her to recognize her newfound feelings for what they are.
  • Hopeless Suitor: To Ryosuke, due to his feelings for her older cousin, Lisara. But whereas Mina accepts Ryosuke's decision, Quele remains undeterred.
  • Intimate Healing: She attempts to heal Ryosuke, herself, by stripping down to her lingerie and offering her virginity to him. But he gently rebuffs her because his energy was depleted, leaving him unable to get it up. Which was further diminished due to his growing attraction to Lisara.
  • Love Confessor: She confesses her feelings for Ryosuke in episode 8, just before offering him her virginity.
  • Love Epiphany: Has one for Ryousuke, assisted by Mina.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name means "Saddler Killer", meaning she throws off authority and superiors. She tries to seal or murder Lisana after we meet her as part of an original plan to remove Lisana and make the Sellier family stronger than the Restall family. After her Heel–Face Turn, she disobeys Lisana's mother, Almeia, to go help Lisana fight against Galdarblog after incapacitating her maids.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Between herself and her cousin, Quele is the reserved, level-headed one. In contrast to Lisara, who's easily agitated.
  • Shinigami: A given, since she's also from Grimwald and related to Lisara.
  • Soul-Cutting Blade: In the form of a dagger. Currently resides in Mina after stabbing her to make the spirit contract.
  • Technicolor Blade: Her main weapon, a blue ice gladius named Calnoon Solace.
  • Underboobs: The top she wears with her battle attire leaves the undersides of her breasts exposed.

     Iria Fukumune
Voiced by: Misato Fukuen
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/iria.png
Lisara's rival from the Grimwald girls academy. She currently enjoys a successful career as a teen idol and doubles as a spokesperson for Merlot Life Insurance.

  • Action Girl: She sees almost as much combat as Lisara and even teams up with her, on occasion.
  • A-Cup Angst: For which, she's extremely self-conscious. When her illusion spell gets disrupted in episode 3, it reveals her true breast size. She's so ashamed of them and her lisp, that she runs away in tears.
  • Always Second Best: Iria finished second in her class at the Grimwald academy, because Lisara always earned higher marks. So Iria decided to beat her by becoming more popular through sex appeal.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing - Zigzagged. She pretends to be sweet and sexy for her fans, but underneath, she's manipulative and harbors a grudge against Lisara. Despite that, she's actually a good person and eventually turns her back on Merlot to save Lisara.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: Weaponized and exploited in order to antagonize Lisara, since Iria knows how insecure she is about her cup size. Iria's popularity is due largely to her F-cup breasts, which have landed her a successful career as a teen idol.
  • Cute Little Fangs: One is always seen in the upper left corner of her mouth.
  • Cute Monster Girl: In her shinigami form, she sprouts a short, albeit thick, gold and black horn from the center of her forehead.
  • Don't Look At Me: Iria's extremely self-conscious of her true form, due to childhood trauma. The one time Ryosuke saw it, he tried to prove that he still found her attractive by showing her his erection. It failed. She decks him for it and ran away in tears.
Iria: (at Ryosuke) "Is that supposed to make me feel better?!"
    (runs away sobbing)
  • Elemental Hair Colors: She's a stunning blonde bombshell with the ability to channel lightning.
  • Fake Boobs: Iria's final clash with Lisara depletes most of her power, causing her illusion spell to wear off. Which is when Lisara sees one of the magic gel pads Iria uses to create the illusion. Her real breasts are a cup size smaller than Lisara's; making her a B-Cup.
  • Head-Turning Beauty: She's a buxom blonde bombshell and popular teen idol. So when she enrolls Ryosuke's school, she immediately draws a crowd of fans and would-be suitors.
  • Heel–Face Turn: She initially serves as a mole for Merlot Insurance, due to her grudge against Lisara. However, during the events of episode 9, Lisara confides that her success was due to having Iria as a rival. Which ultimately causes Iria to turn her back on Merlot and save Lisara in episode 10.
  • I Have Boobs, You Must Obey!: Done in order to seduce Ryosuke away from Lisara long enough to gauge whether he was The One, or not. She was disappointed by the result and promptly lost interest in him.
  • Lust Object: To the entire male student populace at Momozono Highschool and most of Japan, in general.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name translates to "Lady Clothed Chest", in homage to her giant, fake breasts.
  • The Not-Love Interest: She's the only female in the main cast who isn't attracted to Ryosuke, especially now that she knows he isn't her target. But she'll still tease him to get under Lisara's skin.
  • Proud Beauty: Iria is more than aware of her sex appeal and uses her body to lure men to her in droves, to expedite her search for The One.
  • The Rival: Her rivalry with Lisara began during their days at the shinigami girl's academy in Grimwald, where they often competed for marks. Lisara finished top of their class, which she later atributes to Ilia spurring her on.
  • Royal Rapier: In battle, she wields a golden rapier that's imbued with lightning magic.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Ever since she began working under Merlot Insurance, she's always followed their orders without question. But when faced with luring Lisara into a trap and leaving her to die, Iria's conscience prevents her from going through with it. She goes back and saves Lisara.
  • Shinigami: As another native of Grimwald, alongside Lisara and Quele.
  • Shock and Awe: She wields lightning magic, which can be channelled through her sword, Flotty.
  • Stepford Smiler: It's heavily implied, by her manager, that Iria's illusion spell is a coping mechanism for her poor self-image. She explains that people used to make fun of Ilia because her lisp and her natural accent slurred her speech so badly, hardly anyone could understand what she said. So as long as her spell holds, Iria brims with confidence, but when it breaks, so do her tears.
  • The Tease: Iria's a habitual flirt and will even let Ryosuke cop a feel now and then, but she has no romantic interest in him. It's simply her way of antagonizing Lisara.
  • Technicolor Blade: Her primary weapon, Flotty, glows bright yellow when in use.
  • Teen Idol: Her main job as a professional model and commercial actress for Merlot Life Insurance. It's so she can investigate large amounts of people to find those with high levels of baseline spirit energy.

     Muneo Meshiyori
A blue haired girl with heterochromic eyes. She's second year student at Momozono Highschool and one of Ryosuke's classmates.
  • Ambiguously Gay: She has a keen interest in other girls' breasts and is reknowned at her school for her ability to accurately assess any girl's measurements with a glance.
  • Buxom Beauty Standard: A firm believer of it, as it's her view that women with small breasts aren't "real women". She even outright refused to shake Lisara's hand because Lisara's breasts failed to meet her standards!
  • One of the Boys: Meishiori is a tomboy, the only female member of Ryosuke's fanclub, and she's just as perverted as they are.
  • Recurring Extra: She's featured prominently in episode 2, but only makes a brief appearance near the end of episode 3, and isn't seen again 'til the swimsuit competition in episode 12.

    Galdarblog
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/2596556667c8261b9_w.jpg
Main antagonist of the story. He seeks to destroy the border between Grimwald and Humans' world to directly control the population over there as he believes with lengthened lifespan, caused by other grim reapers, humans are just going to destroy themselves even more.

  • Bad Boss: Gardarbolg doesn't care if his own men get caught in his attacks.
  • I Have You Now, My Pretty: Galdarblog kidnaps Mina at the end of episode 6, and taunts Ryousuke and Lisara to come after him if they want her back.
  • Villain Ball: Had Galdarblog bothered to explain what his actual intentions were, rather than simply storm Tusclecr with his army, the Restall Family might've been willing to negotiate with him for a more amicable solution.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Galdarblog's rationale for what he does. In episode 9, he tells Ryousuke about how they used to cull human lives at a regular interval, until the families such as Lisara's took pity on them, and allowed them to live much longer than they normally should be able to. He wanted to get Grimwald so that he could resume doing his job of culling humans to prevent them from overpopulating and causing even more destruction and mayhem through war for food/supply shortages.

    Dalnia Earheart
Voiced by: Minori Chihara
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/181913.jpg

  • Four Eyes, Zero Soul
  • Obstructive Bureaucrat: Dalnia in the later episodes. Everything she does is simply for the sake of business, although to the other characters she appears to be a heartless bastard in doing so, such as when she was attempting to collect Ryousuke's energy after he died at the beginning of episode 12. Despite the other character's pleas to wait, she tries to harvest it right away.
  • Take a Third Option: In episode 12, Dalnia, having witnessed Ryousuke being brought back to life, and the immense amount of energy this "regular guy" was emanating upon being reunited with Lisara, decides to instead help humans to obtain happiness, as she sees that they can collect more energy this way rather than simply killing them off to absorb it during their death.
  • Transformation Sequence: Occurs after "Disrad" is cast.
