An Entirely Agency-Created Idol Band!?

Originally formed as an "idol band" by a talent agency, these five girls resolved to be legitimate musicians and change the public perception of what an idol should be. They consist of Aya on lead vocals, Hina on guitar, Chisato on bass, Maya on drums and Eve on keyboard. Their style is, unsurprisingly, idol-inspired.

    General
  • Color-Coded Characters: The band is associated as a group with Green.
    • Aya: Pastel Pink
    • Hina: Soft Cyan
    • Chisato: Pale Yellow
    • Maya: Mint Green
    • Eve: Lilac
  • Do Well, But Not Perfect: In their second concert, when they actually sing and play their instruments, the audience quickly confirms that they're legit when Aya sings a note off-key.
  • Five Temperament Ensemble:
    • Aya is Eclectic.
    • Hina is Sanguine.
    • Chisato is Choleric.
    • Maya is Melancholic.
    • Eve is Phlegmatic.
  • Idol Singer: They were originally formed by a talent agency as an idol group with a band theme, but they decided to become a legitimate band who can actually play their instruments rather than just pretending to play them on stage as part of their idol act. Even then, their aesthetics and music style are definitely idol-inspired.
  • Lighter and Softer: Out of the girl bands, they're one of the most lighthearted bands in the series, due to their themes and lyrics are heavily based on the idol genre.
  • Once Done, Never Forgotten: While they are much more successful and popular than they were before, there are still people out there who will forever remember them as “Lip*Syncers”, a derogatory nickname earned due to their disastrous first concert.
  • Out of Focus: In terms of song additions. After Ami Maeshima went on hiatus from her role as Aya in November 2022, Pastel*Palettes was unable to regularly receive new original songs/covers until September 2023, and any covers that were released during the hiatus didn’t feature Aya on vocals.
  • Pimped-Out Dress: Their dresses look very intricate and sugary, making them look more like idols than a proper band.
  • Robinsonade: The Pastel*Palettes! Deserted Island Idols event is this, with the members being sent to a deserted island for a TV special, completing challenges with the reward being a new song.
  • Sugar Bowl: By far the most saccharine-looking of the five main bands, with cute dresses that will give your eyes a sugar overdose.
  • That Syncing Feeling: Their first performance ends in disaster when one of the audio equipment has a malfunction, revealing that the music is all pre-recorded. However, this doesn't keep them down for long, and more than anything this gets the staff to finally get them to play their instruments and sing for real like they've always wanted to.

    Aya Maruyama

Aya Maruyama

Voiced by: Ami Maeshima (Japanese), Mai Lee (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6d4d22bc_e87d_4df2_8336_cfa8708206ae.png
Birthday: December 27 (Capricorn)
School: Hanasakigawa Girls' High School (Seasons 1-2), Yotsuba Women's University (Literature Department) (Season 3)
Year: 2nd (Season 1), 3rd (Season 2), College Freshman (Season 3)

The vocalist for Pastel*Palettes. A longtime fan of idols, she had been in training for three years, never having an opportunity for her big break until now. Cheerful and bubbly on the outside, she has an internal desire to be noticed and loved, and she can often freeze up under pressure. She somewhat acts as a senpai to Kasumi of Poppin'Party.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Before she became an idol, she was pretty in love with them herself.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Played for laughs. When she's in a panic, she can be an unintentional danger to those around her, as Chisato can attest to when Aya tried squashing a bug close to Chisato in one of Chisato's card episodes.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor Aya is usually either made fun of or put into situations that come at her expense or embarrassment. Her cute awkwardness doesn't do much to help her in these situations either.
  • Cheery Pink: She has pink hair, and she is very kind, cheerful and lively.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Pink hair and pink irises.
  • Cute Clumsy Girl: Not to Kanon's extent, but Hina and Chisato have both once expressed worry over leaving her with fragile stuff in Ryuuseido.
  • Determinator: She is very determined to achieve her dreams, no matter how futile they sound. She'll even risk a cold to sell tickets in the rain in spite of PasuPare's reputation as "Lip*Syncers". Even though Chisato sees Aya as going with inefficient or ineffective methods sometimes, Chisato admits that she's amazed by Aya's will of iron.
  • Girlish Pigtails: Wears them only when she's performing lives, as she keeps her hair down in her "civilian form", so to speak. They seem to be a Shout-Out to the likes of Madoka from Puella Magi Madoka Magica or possibly ChibiUsa from, of course, Sailor Moon.
  • Girly Girl: Easily one of the most feminine girls in the franchise due to her pink Color Motif, frilly outfits, dream of becoming an idol, and tendency to cry easily.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Despite her overall cheery, nice demeanor, she seems to have a complex over the idea of "being noticed", and is even armed with knowledge in how to take selfie-like photos the perfect way.
  • Nice Girl: Through and through. Her sentimentality, idealistic, and kindness are her other defining traits aside from her attention-seeking complex.
  • Out of Focus: In November 2022, Ami Maeshima went on a 10-month hiatus from voicing Aya due to health issues, which led to Aya not receiving any voice lines after the "Goodbye Sentimental" event.
  • Passing the Torch: In a way: during the Past Aspirations & Pastel Futures event, Aya's own personal inspiration, Ayumi, center of the major idol group Marmalade, tells her that she saw herself in Aya when she saw Pastel*Palettes' debut, and, seeing her determination to becoming an idol, tells her to become the kind of idol they both idealize now that Marmalade has disbanded, effectively pulling this trope. Ayumi also teaches Aya a signature idol pose to try out for the stage to leave her something a bit more tangible.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Her image color, along with her hair and eye irises, are all pink, fittingly for a feminine-like idol that she is.
  • Prone to Tears: She gets flustered and cries very easily, which becomes part of why her improvisation skills are poor, and she tends to mess up during her MC duties.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Her hair is pastel pink and she earnestly want to be an idol that inspires people.
  • Tender Tears: Aya has a reputation to be quick to tears, especially when moved by acts of kindness.

    Hina Hikawa

Hina Hikawa

Voiced by: Ari Ozawa (Japanese), Katelyn Barr (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/b53f43ad_fabe_44b5_8567_02bb03a1dcf1.png
Birthday: March 20 (Pisces)
School: Haneoka Girls' High School (Seasons 1-2), Keiho Women's University (Humanities Department) (Season 3)
Year: 2nd (Season 1), 3rd (Season 2), College Freshman (Season 3)

The guitarist for Pastel*Palettes. She's also Sayo's younger twin sister. A natural genius who tends to become skilled at anything she tries with barely any effort. Because of this, Hina tends not to understand other people struggling where she succeeds, and can be rather blunt, but she always means well. Mellow and relaxed in nature in contrast to her twin's uptight and serious demeanor, she is distressed about the rift between them and wants to be a good younger sister to Sayo.
  • The Ace: Hina is basically good at anything and everything she tries, including playing the guitar, which she cheerfully admits she picked up on a whim. To Sayo, who not only started playing guitar to be good at something that Hina had nothing to do with but practiced extremely hard to get as good as she is, this is a bit of a blow.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "What a Wonderful World", which emphasizes her inability to understand others while also making it clear that others have trouble understanding her.
  • Always Identical Twins: To Sayo. They go through quite a rift in the earlier days, though.
  • Always Someone Better: What Sayo hates about Hina and cause the eventual rift of the twins. Hina is good at so many things that Sayo felt inferior to her.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Sayo certainly sees her as this (at least, prior to their character development).
  • Awesomeness by Analysis: Her instant mastery of skills is mostly attributed to her ability to understand how to do things by seeing it done by someone with that skill already. Case in point, to practice an acting role where she has to cry, she asks Aya to start crying so she can watch and try it herself.
  • Big Eater: She's shown to be able to handle eating a lot of food in Garupa PICO Episode 17, unlike the rest of Pastel*Palettes. She even says that she's bringing some leftovers of the fruit cake from the Hazawa Cafe for her sister! Although, she still does have her limits, as she's starting to get the worried look at the end of the episode when Pastel*Palettes are offered with even more croquettes by Hagumi at Kitazawa Meat Shop, and this is after they ate the aftermentioned fruit cake, and a stack of at least over a dozen of chocolate cornets at Yamabuki Bakery...
  • Big Sister Worship:
    • She adores Sayo and continues to admire her even after the rift they go through as a result of Sayo distancing herself from her. She was even the main reason Hina picked up the guitar as her instrument for Pastel*Palettes.
    • Played for Laughs in PICO~OHMORI~ episode 8. In a fight between Asuka and Ako over who has the cooler older sister, Hina appears out of nowhere in the middle of their fightnote  to show off how cool Sayo is, completely outclassing Kasumi and Tomoe.
  • Brutal Honesty: While Hina is a kind girl at heart, she's noted for being a little blunt, particularly in delicate situations.
    • This reaches its peak in Pastel*Palettes’ 2nd Band Story, when she outright says she’s okay with the band disbanding during a period where the girls are at unease due to them struggling to balance out their workload with the time they get to spend together.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Hina is hyperactive, a little lacking in tact, and describes things with words like “boppin’”, “zappin’”, and “shooby dooby”, but she’s such a brilliant learner that she manages to rival Sayo, who was personally picked by Yukina, in guitar skills despite a gap of years in practice, and is known by her peers to be immediately good at anything she tries.
  • Establishing Character Moment: In Roselia's band story, she asks her sister watch a dog show with her, even though Hina isn't the one who's interested in dogs. This shows that Hina wants to become closer to Sayo, even if she's unaware of the cause of the rift between them.
  • First-Name Basis: Unlike her sister, Hina more commonly uses first names, even with people who are closer to Sayo than they are to her.
  • The Gadfly: She loves teasing others, especially Aya.
  • The Idealist: She's more of a world half-full sort of person, in contrast to her twin sister, Sayo.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Hina's almost supernatural ability to excel at basically anything she tries leads to this- it's not that she's a cruel person, she just genuinely doesn't understand how other people aren't immediately good at new things, let alone why they struggle to improve when they continuously make the same mistakes. Because she's never really had to deal with this, she can't empathize, leading to her often saying rude things.
    • She can be inconsiderate at times, which can be seen in the "Pastel*Palettes! Deserted Island Idols" event, when she starts swinging on a very wobbly and rickety bridge despite the other members' pleas for her to stop, and it's enough for Aya to break down crying and nearly give up on the Robinsonade.
    • This flaw of hers is what contributes to her rift with Sayo. While Sayo's resentment of her sister does undeniably play a part, Hina's inability to understand why Sayo's acting the way she is isn't really helping matters either. If anything, because of her inability to empathize with anyone who's struggling, she unwittingly adds fuel to the fire in regards to her strained relationship with Sayo.
  • Meaningful Name: Her name contains the Kanji for "Day", symbolizing how she is much more brighter and cheerful than her sister.
  • Mellow Fellow: While she can get excitable at times, overall she's a pretty chill person who isn't quick to anger.
  • Nice Girl:
    • Despite her Brutal Honesty, Hina is actually pretty friendly, and unlike many of the more serious characters in the cast, she finds the many Cloudcuckoolanders' ideas really fun and interesting. Then again, she does have a bit of their tendencies, though not as much as say, Eve or Kaoru or Moca.
    • She's also kind and forgiving enough toward her sister Sayo that she doesn't hold the latter's jealousy against her, and earnestly hopes that they can be as close as they used to be.
  • Rapid-Fire Typing: Shown to be typing very fast in Season 2 of the Anime, during the joint student council meeting. This is also brought up in-game in a loading one-panel comic strip as well, alongside with Rinko, both appraising each other for their fast typing speed.
  • Shared Family Quirks: She and Sayo have the same favorite food: junk food (especially potato fries).
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: With Sayo. Their personalities differ like night and day, just like their names.
  • Student Council President: She becomes this for Haneoka High during Season 2 (both in-anime and in-game). As of Season 3 in-game however, she has graduated from Haneoka High and passes this role to Tsugumi.
  • Tomboy: In terms of her off-stage casual dress style and some of her hobbies, if not in archetypal personality. She's the tomboy to her friend Lisa's Girly Girl, for example, and several of Pastel*Palettes' girls, and her twin sister, Sayo.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Much like her twin sister, she also loves eating french fries. But unlike Sayo, she is more open about it and has no problem eating them in front of her friends.
  • The Troublemaker: Hina is a verifiable genius. Give her any problem, she WILL find a solution. The practicality of that solution, however, is less important to her as how "fun" it is. Like when she showed up unexpectedly at Hanasakagawa Girl's School proposing a joint culture fest with her own Haneoka Girl's School just so she could spend time with her sister, Sayo.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Her eyes slant upwards in contrast to her twin's droopy eyes. In a stereotype subversion however, her personality matches more with the latter type, since she's quite amiable.
  • Victory Is Boring: In the Roselia Band Story manga, she complains that it's "boring" to constantly get perfect scores on tests, much to her classmates' annoyance.

    Chisato Shirasagi

Chisato Shirasagi

Voiced by: Sumire Uesaka (Japanese), Patricia Duran (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/4c604018_3286_437a_844e_0dbc7e4ce9a4.png
Birthday: April 6 (Aries)
School: Hanasakigawa Girls' High School (Seasons 1-2), Yotsuba Women's University (Literature Department) (Season 3)
Year: 2nd (Season 1), 3rd (Season 2), College Freshman (Season 3)

The bassist for Pastel*Palettes. A child actor and celebrity, she knows how the entertainment industry works and despite her polite demeanor, she can often be quite cynical compared to Aya's optimism. Although she didn't originally intend on being a "real" musician, she managed to get caught up in her band's new dream of changing the public perception of idols.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "When the Flowers Bloom", which puts heavy emphasis on her struggles in the entertainment industry as well as her frustration with people putting her on a pedestal and assuming she's good at everything.
  • Because You Were Nice to Me: The reason why Chisato is always friendly with Kanon, because she's the first person in her Middle School who genuinely trying to make friends of her without actually caring about her fame.
  • Being Personal Isn't Professional: While post-Character Development she's perfectly willing to be friendly to the other members of Pastel*Palettes, she warns them to set boundaries with the members of their sister group ViVidCanvas, as they're competitors in the cutthroat idol world.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Polite and sweet exterior, cold and icy interior. One minute, she's having a polite conversation with her bandmates, the next minute she's outside the studio thinking to herself with some pretty scathing thoughts of them. She warms up to the group quickly enough though, and grows out of this, although her colder harshness towards aspects of the entertainment industry remain firmly in place.
  • Broken Ace: As a well-known Former Child Star still active in the entertainment industry, Chisato is heavily burdened with the high expectations of directors/producers and placed on a pedestal by fans and her peers at school, and prior to joining Pastel*Palettes one of her only friends was Kanon, one of the very few people during her middle school days who genuinely tried to befriend her without caring about her fame or seeing her as an untouchable celebrity.
  • Childhood Friends:
    • With Kaoru. Possibly related, unlike many girls who love it and others who go along with it, she really doesn't like the dramatic persona Kaoru has going nowadays. The event A Rose's Name in a Transient World has her admit to Maya that, despite her frustrations with Kaoru's dramatic person, she's still someone Chisato is comfortable dropping her constant professionalism around and being the 'simplest version' of herself with.
    • Also with the shy and jittery Kanon, who is coincidentally in the same band as Kaoru, something that worries Chisato to no end. Kanon's initial 3* story shows that Kanon was one of the first people in their middle school that treated Chisato as a person, not a famous figurehead.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Around Kaoru, given that how Chisato has to manage and deal with Kaoru's tendencies.
  • Foil: To Aya. Aya is very optimistic and believes that she can accomplish anything just by working really hard, while Chisato is cynical in contrast and, having been in show business for a while, feels that Hard Work Hardly Works and that the band's success owes more to their corporate superiors and connections than any one part of the band putting in their effort. It's not all bad, as even though Chisato criticizes Aya for being blind in her determination, she admits that it's what makes Aya special.
  • Former Child Star: While she isn't truly a former child star, as she is still popular and actively working in the entertainment industry, her experiences in the entertainment industry have made her a rather cynical and distrustful person in a fashion similar to this trope.
  • Genre Savvy: Chisato has been acting since she was old enough to walk, and there isn't a thing about the industries methods that gets past her. Whether she goes along with it or not depends on the situation, but she's not afraid to let her own management know she's seen straight through them.
  • Identical Stranger: Though no one comments on it, she looks remarkably identical in appearance to Eve's friend from Finland, Hanne. That saying, Eve does mention in an official 4koma that they share some similarities in personality to some degree.
  • Jerkass Realization: In the band story, she becomes angry at the staff members for praising her while ignoring the efforts of the other Pastel*Palettes members. It's implied that she realizes she was treating the others, particularly Aya, the same way and starts making an effort to grow closer to them.
  • Jerkass to One: She’s generally polite and soft-spoken around her bandmates and Kanon, but around Kaoru, she’s much more snarky and aloof and shows open disdain towards her princely persona and grandiose antics.
  • Pet the Dog: Although Chisato starts out being rude and condescending towards the other Pastel*Palettes members, she warms up to them quickly once she gets to know them and her kindness towards them becomes genuine. One occasion is in the band story: after seeing Aya keep trying to sell tickets to their second concert despite the heavy rain, she stops to help her, understanding that Aya is desperately trying her best.
    • She's also genuinely kind towards Kanon, with Kanon being one of the few people she's sincerely sweet towards from the start. Because she sees Kanon as one of her only truly genuine friends.
  • Precious Puppy: Episode 3 of Pastel Life reveals that she has a job at a local dog cafe, where she's made friends with a friendly dog named Leon.
    • Which is confusing because some stories, like Shadows of Days past remain, it shows her family actually owns Leon.
  • Rage Breaking Point: In "When the Flowers Bloom," Chisato practices for a play and struggles to live up to the director's high expectations, and his harsh criticisms have begun to wear her down by the time her bandmates visit the theater to watch her practice. She ends up losing her temper and lashing out at her bandmates when Hina makes a rather insensitive comment about how she thought she was good at everything.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After the band's disaster of a debut Chisato quickly tries to ditch what she views as a sinking ship. She only stays because of the agency executives advising her that leaving would do even more damage to her reputation, as if she left the agency they wouldn't be able to protect her from the worst of the media's attacks.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: She speaks very sweetly and is perfectly polite, but can drop it in an instant when annoyed by something. It's something of a survival instinct that comes with growing up in the very cut-throat world of entertainment and media. You can almost see the temperate drop in the room when she stops smiling.
  • Stepford Smiler: Where her epithet of "Smiling Iron Mask" came from, Her smiles in public mask a cynical and cold girl underneath, though she's not all bad once you get to befriend her.
  • Talented, but Trained: Chisato is a well-respected star within the acting world, lauded for her talent. A few events show that her skill doesn't come naturally to her in the way it does to someone like Kaoru, or Hina. She researches and works herself to the bone to prepare for a role, which goes away to explaining her cynicism towards Aya's attitude that just "doing her best" will yield the results she wants. Chisato knows sometimes you have to go above and beyond that to get what you want.
  • Tareme Eyes: Her eyes make her seem very sweet and polite, which contrasts her to other members of the band who are all having varying degrees of Tsurime.
  • Terrible Artist: How she draws dogs is...interesting. This is first shown in the episode of the ''Idol Witch'' card in-game, and this also become a plot point for Episode 5 of GARUPA☆PICO Fever!. Ironically, one of her childhood friends, Kanon, who is normally quite clumsy, is a brilliant artist.
  • Tsundere: The Sweet Type. In an everyday context she tends to get along with people pretty well, although she can suddenly be very blunt. But she comes off as sort of an Ice Queen around Kaoru and her dramatic language.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She's afraid of bugs (as seen in the "Serious Panic" card episode), and frogs (as seen in the A Sigh Beyond the Rain event story).
  • "You Used to Be Better" Speech: Downplayed, but she gives one of these to Kaoru in "A Rose's Name in a Transient World" and "Luminous Once More" events after getting fed up with the latter's princely persona.
Chisato: Honestly. Since when did you start acting like this? Like I've said before, you're not Kaoru I know.

    Maya Yamato

Maya Yamato

Voiced by: Ikumi Nakagami (Japanese), Chelsea McCurdy (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/017720fa_68dc_4016_ac37_e7e877a6f97e.png
Birthday: November 3 (Scorpio)
School: Haneoka Girls' High School (Seasons 1-2), Keiho Women's University (Social Studies Department) (Season 3)
Year: 2nd (Season 1), 3rd (Season 2), College Freshman (Season 3)

The drummer for Pastel*Palettes. Originally a studio musician for the agency who was filling in while they searched for a drummer, her chemistry with the girls and her hidden beauty led to Chisato formally asking her to join Pastel*Palettes as a full member. She is a huge music geek and talks for hours when the subject turns to music equipment.
  • Actor Allusion: Maya is voiced by Ikumi Nakagami, who is well-known for voicing the beloved Yukari Akiyama from Girls und Panzer. Just like Yukari, Maya is an obsessive otaku who is fixated on musical equipment instead of tanks, can blabber without stopping about the things she finds interesting and punctuates her dialog with a similar verbal tic, although Maya does it far more often.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "My Ideal", which revolves around her insecurities as an idol.
  • Endearingly Dorky: While she's clearly a bit socially awkward, her distinct laugh and nerdy flights of fancy about music equipment come off as more endearing than anything. Judging by the comments of some audience members during Pastel*Palettes' second concert, she seems to be seen as this In-Universe as well.
  • Fangirl: She's a huge fan of Masuki and her drumming style. Oddly enough, Masuki returns back the favor even more so, stating that she's a big fan of her, as seen in this clip from the season 2 Anime.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: Just seeing Maya with her glasses off convinces Chisato of her potential as an idol, and Maya takes them off when performing.
  • Hidden Depths: Despite her otherwise geeky and socially-awkard persona, she's actually quite of a well-knowledgeable and experienced drummer to the point that MASKING is a fan of her.
    • On another note, according to her Let's Get Started card's special story, Yukina (who has otherwise high standards for music) states that she would have invited Maya to join Roselia hadn't she met Ako, due to Maya's being far more serious about music than expected along with her musical knowledge.
  • Hollywood Homely: In Universe example. Feels Chisato thinking about how she doesn't really go deep into taking care of her hair, skin, eyebags, etc., and it basically ticks off almost everything — but then again, Chisato was the one who recruited her.
  • I Am Not Pretty: She initially believes that she's plainer compared to her bandmates and she wouldn't gain a lot of fans as a result, and it adds to her insecurity that she's unfit to be an idol.
  • Lovable Nerd: She's a huge nerd for music and audio production, and while socially awkward, she's a sweet girl through and through.
  • No Social Skills: She can be kind of awkward, and her laughter during lives is pretty exuberant.
  • Otaku: She loves music equipment as much as Yukari Akiyama loves tanks.
  • Shorttank: As a nice, nervous and nerdy person, she doesn't fit the attitude, but everything else, from casual wardrobe to tomboyishness.
  • Signature Laugh: A self-conscious "huhehe."
  • The Smart Guy: When it comes to music and audio production, her knowledge is encyclopedic.
  • Tomboy: She typically dresses in masculine clothes offstage, is initially insecure about wearing frilly dresses, has a lot of knowledge on sound equipment and enjoys tinkering with it, and doesn't seem to care much for her appearance.
  • Tomboy Angst: With her nerdy personality, interest in sound equipment, slightly unkempt appearance and tomboyish fashion style, Maya initially believes she's unfit to be a conventionally cute idol, believing she doesn't look good in frilly dresses and worrying that she's plainer compared to the other girls, in addition to thinking her interest in sound equipment doesn't fit with her image as an idol. Though unlike most examples of this trope, Maya’s insecurities are less hating her tomboyish qualities and wanting to be more feminine and more that she feels like her tomboy nature doesn’t fit the traditional idol mold.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: She has a fear of dogs, unfortunately for her, Leon doesn't seems to see it that way.
  • Wrench Wench: Pasupare's go-to person to take care of equipment maintenance.
  • Verbal Tic: Ends her sentences with -ssu.

    Eve Wakamiya

Eve Wakamiya

Voiced by: Sawako Hata (Japanese), Skyler Sinclair (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/39c50561_4818_4242_bc1e_93ab66bcaba3.png
Birthday: June 27 (Cancer)
School: Hanasakigawa Girls' High School
Year: 1st (Season 1), 2nd (Season 2), 3rd (Season 3)

The keyboardist for Pastel*Palettes. Half-Finnish and half-Japanese, she moved from Finland to Japan where she became a model under Pastel*Palettes' agency. She loves learning about Japanese culture and especially about bushido, using it as her explanation for everything. She has an energetic nature and gives everything her absolute best, from tea ceremony to kendo to flower arranging and especially to her band, making it easy to root for her.
  • A Day in the Limelight: "Unwavering Will, Blazing Bushido", which focuses on her attempting to stop an escalating Flame War among fans.
  • Barehanded Blade Block: She doesn't execute one herself, but does ask Aya to swing a sword at her to practice it.
  • Character Catchphrase: "Bushido!" note  - She often says it as a result of her admiration towards bushido and samurai-related culture.
  • Cloudcuckoolander: Somehow finds ways to trace everything in life to bushido and the samurai lifestyle.
  • Cuddle Bug: Loves initiating hugs between the other members of the band, not to mention her "hugu hugu hugu~!" line that will sometimes play when she performs with a player using Chisato in game. It's implied that, having lived in Finland most of her life, she has a more relaxed sense of personal space than the other girls.
  • Cute, but Cacophonic: You would think that someone interested in samurai and bushido would have a deep samurai-esque voice. You would be wrong, as she has one of the highest-pitched voices amongst the girls in BanG Dream!
  • The Determinator: Over martial arts, it seems...
  • Friendless Background: She didn't have a lot of friends when she first moved to Japan.
  • Funny Foreigner: A lot of humor is derived from Eve's obsession with bushido, i.e. samurai code (and a Stealth Pun on a certain company's name) and various Japanese culture things. She's half-Finnish, from her mother's side.
  • Genki Girl: On the lighter scale. She's bright and easily enthused, but not hyper like Hagumi and Kokoro can be. When she tackles a task she gets pretty into it, though.
  • Girly Girl with a Tomboy Streak: She likes fashion and is also a model, is a member of the flower arranging club and tea ceremony club, and is a very affectionate person. However, she looks up to samurais, is also a kendo club member, and enjoys watching period dramas.
  • Mellow Fellow: A cheery one, but one who still falls under this, which makes her Cloudcuckoolander commentary even funnier.
  • Nice Girl: A very chipper gal, especially when learning something new about Japan. Her language is also very polite, but that might be related to learning it that way.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In the "Unwavering Will, Blazing Bushido" event, she tries to defuse an online argument between two fans, but ends up making it worse. Her second attempt to stop the arguing defies this.
  • Pinocchio Nose: According to Hanne note , Eve's voice will crack if she is telling a lie.
  • Yamato Nadeshiko: Downplayed; while she doesn't have all the personality traits and she's not fully Japanese, her interests—which include tea ceremony, kendo, flower arrangement, and watching Japanese period dramas—and her fixation on trying to follow the samurai code seem to imply that she's trying to invoke the image of a traditional Japanese young lady.
