RAISE A SUILEN

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ras_logo.png
An Intense Rock Band with Extraordinary Talent!
Initially called THE THIRD (仮) because they were the third band of the franchise to perform live, their main role was to serve as a way for the voice actresses of Afterglow, Pastel*Palettes and Hello, Happy World! to perform live as they were unable to play their characters' instruments for varying reasons. As of their third live on December 2018, their name has officially changed to RAISE A SUILEN and confirmed being a part of the Winter 2019 anime.

They consist of LAYER on bass/vocals, MASKING on drums, CHU2 on DJ and rap vocals, PAREO on keyboard, and LOCK on guitar. Their original songs blend hard rock with electronica.
    General
  • Aloof Leader, Affable Subordinate: CHU2, the leader of the band, initially believes that Being Personal Isn't Professional, takes music very seriously, and can be temperamental and rude at worst. The rest of the girls are otherwise very friendly (though Rokka is much more socially awkward).
  • Breakout Character: Group example. RAS has become increasingly popular since Season 2 ended, which can certainly be seen. Not only have they released 2 singles since Season 2 ended, their third single contained the opening and ending for Cardfight!! Vanguard, making them the second band to have songs featured outside the franchise. They also did a two-day live event alongside Roselia over the Christmas holidays in 2019, are performing two songs on Cover Collection Vol.3, and in the first 3 episode of the 3rd Season, there has been a lot more focus on Rokka and RAISE A SUILEN, while the more established bands aside from Poppin' Party and Roselia are largely Demoted to Extra, with Poppin' Party's primary function being to facilitate Rokka's character growth and development.
  • Color-Coded Characters: The band is associated as a group with Dark Cyan.
    • LAYER: Red
    • LOCK: Sulu Green
    • MASKING: Dark Yellow
    • PAREO: Pale Magenta
    • CHU2: Vivid Blue
  • Darker and Edgier: Downplayed, as most of their lyrics in their songs are much aggressive compared to the other bands, while songs like "Beautiful Birthday" and "Shakunetsu Bonfire" are lighthearted since the former was made as a tribute to CHU2's birthday while the latter is about having fun in the summertime.
  • Four-Temperament Ensemble:
    • LAYER is Phlegmatic.
    • LOCK is Melancholic.
    • MASKING is Sanguine-Choleric.
    • PAREO is Sanguine.
    • CHU2 is Choleric.
  • Gratuitous English: Unlike other bands, all of their songs are sprinkled with English words. Probably has something to do with CHU2's background as a producer who attends an international school.
  • Image Song: Each member has received a dedicated song for each of them as of the release of their first mini-album, "REVELATION".
    • LAYER: "POLARIS"
    • LOCK: "BERSER-KEY"
    • MASKING: "STRAY CEREBUS"
    • PAREO: "TWIN TALE"
    • CHU2: "Apocalypse"
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: They were initially introduced by their stage names. Their real names wouldn't be revealed until three months after they were confirmed to be a part of the anime.
  • Stage Names: All members of RAS uses different aliases when on stage, which are all derived from their given names in some way. Initially, they were only known by their stage names until their full names were revealed three months after it was confirmed that they would be in the anime.
  • Tritagonist: As a whole, they're the third most important band in the series starting from 3rd season, as most of their spotlight is shared with Poppin'Party and Roselia.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: In "NO LIMIT!!!," after LAYER calls CHU2 out for constantly claiming that RAS will crush Poppin'Party and Roselia and overall treating the other bands as stepping stones to their fame, CHU2 struggles to be less harsh with her criticisms in an attempt to avoid hurting the others' feelings, though this only stifles their efforts during practice. The other members are unnerved and notice CHU2 isn't being herself, and realizing that she was the cause of this, LAYER takes it upon herself to bring back CHU2's competitive spirit.

Voiced by: Raychell (Japanese), Shelley Calene-Black (English)

Birthday: January 13 (Capricorn)
School: Geijutsu Academy
Year: 2nd (Season 2), 3rd (Season 3)

The bassist and lead singer of RAISE A SUILEN, and Tae’s childhood friend. She moved away as a child, but moved back so she could be in a band with Tae, even implying she picked up the bass for her. Unfortunately, Tae is part of Poppin’ Party now, and is very much attached to them.
  • Childhood Friend: With Tae Hanazono, in which they also attends the same music school together.
  • Defrosting Ice Queen: Due to her mature attitude, she tends to keep a certain amount of distance to others, however she opens up more easily later in the story, mainly thanks to her bandmates' efforts.
  • Extreme Doormat: She initially had trouble voicing her opinions; preferring to let CHU2 make important decisions and go with whatever everyone else wanted, and even before joining RAS she had more experience following orders and providing support as opposed to taking the lead.
  • Forehead of Doom: Though it was not brought up that often in the story.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: She looks exactly like a younger self of her VA, Raychell.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Platonic example. Despite wanting to be in a band together with her beloved childhood friend Tae, she ultimately lets her go back to Poppin' Party because she knows that Tae treasures Poppin' Party that much.
  • Lead Bassist: She's both the lead bassist and vocalist of RAISE A SUILEN.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: In the "NO LIMIT!!!" event story, she calls out CHU2 for constantly revoicing her goal to crush Poppin'Party and Roselia and asks her to stop aspiring to use the other bands as stepping stones to reach the top. This only results in CHU2 lashing out at her for trying to give orders despite being her subordinate and someone who only went with what everyone else wanted, and not wanting a repeat of the incident where she lashed out at PAREO, CHU2 struggles to be less harsh with her criticisms, which unnerves the rest of the band and doesn't allow for them to unleash their true potential.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: Inverted, she's the only one of all 35 girls who's never seen wearing any school uniforms (her school doesn't have one).
  • Statuesque Stunner: She's in fact the tallest of the 35 girls at 172cm, being even taller than Kaoru and Masuki (both at 170cm). It's also part of why she looks quite mature despite her age and is mistaken to be an adult.
  • Vocal Dissonance: She has a very deep voice for a teenager. As a child, she even mentions that she was too shy to sing because she ‘doesn’t sound like a kid’.
  • Younger Than They Look: She's the same age as the Poppin' Party members despite appearing to be a college student.

Birthday: July 17 (Cancer)
School: Haneoka Girls' High School
Year: 1st (Season 2), 2nd (Season 3)

A part-time worker at Galaxy who would eventually become the second guitarist of RAISE A SUILEN during the events of Season 3. She was inspired to join a band after watching Poppin' Party's performance at the final showcase at SPACE. She's a huge fan of Poppin' Party and became acquainted with Kasumi's younger sister, Asuka.
  • Accent Slip-Up: She's from the Gifu prefecture, and has a natural Gifu dialect that she slips back to when she gets nervous, excited, or during tense moments. She also uses the word "dera" (which translates to "really") frequently outside of these moments.
  • Ascended Fangirl: Subverted, she always declines many offers from Poppin' Party to join them as the third guitarist, mainly due to lacking confidence in performing alongside her idols.
  • Bespectacled Cutie: She's a cute, shy girl wearing glasses outside of live shows.
  • Birds of a Feather: She befriends Mashiro in the Little Rose Harmony event, and the two have a similar personality in which both are meek and shy girls who are both fan girls of Poppin'Party.
  • Country Mouse: Originally from Gifu Prefecture, she came to Tokyo to attend Haneoka after watching PoPiPa in SPACE in order to start her own band. Her reactions to living in the city are from proving the existence of Hachiko statue to being overwhelmed by crowds. Sometimes, her accent also slips out.
  • Fangirl: Of Poppin'Party. It's also indicated when she's notably very worried when she overhears CHU2 saying something about to crush Poppin'Party and Roselia, in the 3rd Season of the Anime. She even likes humming Poppin'Party's songs while working at the hot springs, as revealed in one of her conversations with LAYER.
  • Friendly Rivalry: After she befriends Mashiro, a fellow fangirl of Poppin'Party, in the event Little Rose Harmony. The two tend to argue over who likes Poppin'Party more.
  • The Glasses Come Off: During lives, she removes her glasses and lets her hair down. Her guitar playing is so good it manages to impress everyone in the crowd ,including CHU2 whom watches her school festival recorded performance, which leads CHU2 to recruit her as RAS' second and main guitarist in Season 3.
  • Honorary True Companion: Starting from Season 2, she's become close to PoPiPa and constantly helps them though never joined the band. After she was rejected from joining RAS, they go as far as to create a new song (with Arisa selling one of her bonsai to buy a keytar), all to encourage her to retake the audition.
  • Motherly Side Plait: She has her haired styled in one of these.
  • Only Known by Their Nickname: Most, if not all characters who know her call her ROCK.
    • Might just be a Punny Name as her name "Rokka" could sound like "Rock" and "Lock".
    • This was confirmed when CHU2 finally nicknamed her as 'LOCK' (as a sign of accepting her as RAS new guitarist), while she was surprised that CHU2 knows her 'ROCK nickname in Season 3.
  • Plucky Girl: She spent years saving up money to buy her own guitar and later studied hard to attend Haneoka on a scholarship. Currently, she's working part-time at Galaxy and cleans her family's bathhouse every morning and evening as payment for letting her live there.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: She could rival Kanon in shyness. It's most apparent when she stutters, slips back to her Gifu dialect, or lets out her Verbal Tic.
  • Signature Hair Decs: She holds her hairstyle with a starry scrunchies. It's implied that she started wearing it when she became a fan of Poppin' Party.
  • Supporting Protagonist: Of the anime's 2nd and 3rd seasons, as well as the game's 1st band stories. It follows her quest to create or join a band, which leads her to join RAS in the end.
  • Verbal Tic: She makes out a "Hiiiie!" (translated as "Eek!" in the English version) as a sound when she's distressed, similar to how Kanon says "Fuee...".

    Masuki Sato/MASKING

Masuki Sato/MASKING

Voiced by: Natsume (Japanese), Molly Searcy (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/xbas0xmasking_key_visual_p0o1nz.png
Birthday: May 12 (Taurus)
School: Shirayuki Private Academy
Year: 2nd (Season 2), 3rd (Season 3)

The drummer of RAISE A SUILEN and daughter of the "Galaxy" owner. Despite her intimidating appearance, she's actually a kind person who enjoys baking cakes and looking at cute things.
  • 10-Minute Retirement: Played with, her reaction to CHU2 threatening to cut her from the band is to walk out, seemingly quiting in the process, but later reveals to LOCK she just needed to get away from the scene and has no intention to leave.
  • All Drummers Are Animals: To the point that a nickname for her is "Mad Dog".
  • Bruiser Witha Soft Center: Despite her tough appearance and persona, MASKING enjoys reading manga and baking cakes.
  • Curtains Match the Windows: Blonde hair and gold eyes.
  • Death Glare: A Running Gag involves her giving these to girls she finds cute.
  • Face of a Thug: She can initially come off as intimidating due to her tendency to give Death Glares and perpetual frowning, but she's actually one of the nicest members of RAS.
  • Fangirl: Like PAREO, she's a fan of Pastel*Palettes, especially Maya. It's rather amusing since both her and Maya fangirl at each other's drumming techniques.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: Like Layer, her design heavily resembles a younger version of her VA, Natsume.
  • Japanese Delinquents: Earned a reputation as such due to her natural blonde hair, choice of fashion, and aggressive live performances that earned her the nickname of "Mad Dog."
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Tomboy to PAREO's Girly Girl, being an aggressive drummer and a Badass Biker with a gruff demeanor, Boyish Short Hair, and a tomboyish fashion sense, with most of her casual outfits consisting of leather jackets and pants.
  • Tomboy with a Girly Streak: She dresses like a delinquent, is an aggressive drummer, and rides a motorcycle, but she enjoys baking cakes, reads a cutesy manga series, and is a big fan of Pastel*Palettes.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: Her profiles states that she took up drumming to become closer to her father.

Birthday: March 25 (Aries)
School: Kamogawa Chuou Middle School
Year: 2nd (Middle School) (Season 2), 3rd (Middle School) (Season 3)

The keyboardist of RAISE A SUILEN. She's a big fan of Pastel*Palettes and idols, but initially kept this side of her a secret from her family and her classmates. She highly respects CHU2 due to her allowing PAREO to embrace this side of her by joining a band.
  • 10-Minute Retirement: Quits RAS after CHU2 calls her useless while comforting her, but returns after LOCK and MASKING talk her out of it.
  • Animal Motif:
    • Unicorns, due to her feminine nature, love for cute things, and multicolored hair. The trained version of her "I'll Always Love You" card depicts her riding a unicorn and when the "Dash!! My Dear" event assigns Animal Motifs to the members of RAS, she's given a unicorn motif in MASKING's untrained card as well as a unicorn charm in her "Having Overcome" costume.
    • She's also associated with dogs due to her staunch loyalty to CHU2 and willingness to carry out her every order, which complements CHU2's cat motifs. Her epithet is "Faithful Dog Pareko" and she's given dog-ear headphones for her birthday in 2021.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: While the same age as CHU2 and Rana, Reona is still a middle school student.
  • Broken Ace: Prior to being scouted for RAISE A SUILEN, she was this. Although she was a respected student due to her grades and athletic abilities, she secretly always liked cute things and idols but kept her love a secret to keep up the "perfect" image everyone had of her.
  • Bumbling Sidekick: Act as one to CHU2.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Before meeting CHU2, she was burdened by her parents' and peers' high expectations of her to the point where she was afraid to express her love for cute things and idols.
  • The Dragon: Played With. While fiercely loyal to CHU2 to the point where she takes her side when rudely rejecting Rokka after she auditions to join RAS, she doesn't show any active malice towards other people.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She appears briefly in episode 5 during Pastel*Palette's concert as a member of the audience. Her first speaking role isn't until episode 8.
  • Fangirl: For Pastel*Palettes, with her favorite members being Aya and Hina. Also for CHU2, whom she gleefully addresses with "-sama" or "mistress" in the dub.
  • Genki Girl: Easily the most excitable member of RAS.
  • Gentle Giant: She's among the taller girls at 161 cm tall, but she's also one of the kindest despite being CHU2's lackey.
  • Girly Girl: Due to her fashion choices and massive love for idols and cute things, she's easily the girliest member of RAS.
  • Heroic BSoD: After being called useless by CHU2, she quits RAS and reverts to the quiet honor student Reona Nyubara, it took MASKING and LOCK persuasions plus CHU2 personally apologizing to her to return.
  • Hidden Depths: The manga reveals that she is a top-of-the-class student who also excels in physical activities and she always seems to know what to say to others at the right time. At this point, it's not clear if her behavior around CHU2 is Obfuscating Stupidity or if there's a different reason.
  • Huge Schoolgirl: She's only in middle school, yet she is a whopping 161cm tall in a country where some adult women don't reach the 150cm threshold. She also wears platformer shoes that gives her an additional 6cm in height. note
  • Innocently Insensitive: She never shows any active malice towards people and is genuinely sweet. That being said, she helps CHU2 hunt down Rokka into joining RAS, and they chase her to the point where she's screaming and terrified out of her mind.
  • Kaleidoscope Hair: Her hair color changes with nearly every card she receives, making her nearly unrecognizable in some cards when her eye color changes with it.
  • Tomboy and Girly Girl: The Girly Girl to MASKING's Tomboy, being a graceful keyboardist and Pastel*Palettes Fangirl with a bubbly personality and a cutesy fashion sense, with most of her casual outfits consisting of pastel colors, ribbons, and frilly skirts.

    Chiyu Tamade/CHU2 (Unmarked Spoilers)

Chiyu Tamade/CHU2

Voiced by: Risa Tsumugi (Japanese), Hilary Haag (English)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kbwhhhchu2_key_visual_1ju6ne.png
Birthday: December 7 (Sagittarius)
School: Celosia Girls' Academy
Year: 2nd (Season 2), 3rd (Season 3)

A music producer, DJ, and rapper for RAISE A SUILEN. Though only 14, she's a gifted prodigy who moved up a grade to high school and is already producing her own music. She can be arrogant and stubborn, and has already declared Roselia and Poppin' Party her rivals.
  • Animal Motif: She's heavily associated with cats due to her brash attitude and her cat ears-themed headphone. She also Hates Baths and tends to sleep in odd places.
  • Arc Villain: She's the Big Bad of seasons 2 and 3 (and the latter's 1st band story adaptation of RAS in Girls Band Party), trying to get Tae to quit Poppin'Party against her will just so she can fulfill her selfish desires of destroying other girl bands, and later aiming to “beat Poppin'Party and Roselia into a pulp” for petty reasons.
  • Animal-Eared Headband: She's almost always being seen wearing cat-eared headphones. Fans often jokes that it was the only thing that keeps Yukina from being too irritated by her Jerkass behaviors.
  • Alas, Poor Villain: As much of a Jerkass she is, it's hard not to feel sorry for her for everything she goes through in the fallout of her loss against Roselia.
  • The Baby of the Bunch: Tied with PAREO and Rana for being the youngest characters in the series.
  • Being Personal Isn't Professional: She is not happy upon finding out that LAYER and MASKING have been getting friendly with Poppin'Party and accuses them of not taking the band seriously, which results in her forcing the other members of RAS to cancel all of their plans and forbidding them from interacting with the other bands. This only results in the band falling apart, and after CHU2 has a Jerkass Realization, she decides to loosen up a bit around the other bands (though her competitive spirit still remains firmly in place).
  • Berserk Button: Takes music very seriously and is liable to go into fits of rage if she sees talent going to waste.
  • Blatant Lies: Calls herself a kind, generous producer. She sure doesn’t start off as one.
  • Bratty Half-Pint: She's short (4'7"), one of the younger characters in the series (13-14), and starts off as unbelievably selfish and immature. Checks on all accounts.
  • Catchphrase: "Sweet! Excellent! Unstoppable!" In Gratuitous English, too.
  • Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Her reaction to PAREO trying to cheer her up after MASKING walks out is to call her "completely useless", driving her out of the band for a short time.
  • Easily Forgiven: Despite attempting to steal one of their band members and causing them more than a bit of grief, Poppin'Party doesn’t seem to bear any ill will towards her after the events of Season 2.
    • PAREO is also quick to accept her back after rejoining the band.
  • Evil Is Petty: Or rather, Jerkass is Petty.
    • The reason why she formed RAS in the first place is to get back at Roselia for rejecting her offer on becoming their music producer. This is eventually revealed to be a subversion: she actually formed RAS because she wanted people to recognize her talent on her own.
    • She tries to snatch Tae away from Poppin'Party as her full-time member, believing that Tae has a bigger potential as a guitarist of RAS than in the band she actually belongs to. It doesn't help that she attempts to steal Tae after she explicitly states that she doesn't want to be a support guitarist.
    • In Season 3, she plans on “beating Poppin’Party to a pulp” just because Tae didn’t want to be a part of RAS, extending this behavior to Roselia shortly after. While implied, it's unclear if she explicitly intends to include the other bands in her "revenge".
  • Freudian Excuse: She was burdened by her parents' high expectations and pressured into playing various instruments, and while she felt that her skills were inadequate, her mother kept praising her and placing her on a pedestal. As a result, she decided to form her own band by herself in order to make people recognize her talent.
  • Foil: To LAYER. Both are members of RAISE A SUILEN who are heavily affiliated with Tae (LAYER is her childhood friend, CHU2 scouted her as a support guitarist). However, LAYER is a mature Nice Girl who, while fond of the idea of being in a band with Tae, ultimately allows Tae to go back to Poppin’Party instead of being a support guitarist because she knows about how much Tae treasures their friendship. CHU2, on the other hand, is an immature Jerkass who refuses to let Tae retire from her position as support guitarist, tries to force her to join the band out of selfishness, and believes Tae’s friendship with Poppin’Party is akin to “playing band like a bunch of kids.”
  • Full-Name Basis: She calls Yukina and Tae by their full names due to her disdain towards them respectively refusing her offer to be Roselia's producer and turning down her offer to join RAS at the expense of Poppin'Party.
  • Gratuitous English: She frequently peppers her sentences with English, and she’s fluent in the language due to her attending an international school.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: She's prone to losing control of her emotions when things don't go her way.
  • Hates Baths: According to her profile. She rejects Rokka's offer to join her on a trip to the hot springs, and she freaks out when Rokka takes her to the bathhouse she works at.
  • Heel–Face Turn: While still a bit arrogant, she eventually warms up to her bandmates and PoPiPa after reconciling with PAREO and becomes more of a Jerk with a Heart of Gold.
  • Idiot Hair: She has one on her head, but she's not an idiot.
  • It's All About Me: Immediately after begrudgingly accepting that Tae wants to stay in Popipa, she starts complaining that Tae wants to "play band" with Popipa instead of being in RAISE A SUILEN.
"Why? WHY?! She thinks playing 'band' like a bunch of kids is better than being in my group?! I can't believe her! Yukina and Hanazono must be complete idiots! Who do they think I am?!"
  • Jerkass: She starts off as a big one, even moreso than pre-Character Development Yukina and Sayo:
    • She forcefully tries to steal Tae away from Poppin'Party, doesn't see the wrong in doing so and replies very smugly when confronted by LAYER about it, and refuses to accept the idea that Tae just wants to play in a band with her friends, which she dismisses as "playing like a bunch of kids."
    • By Season 3, she wants to beat Roselia and PoPiPa "into a pulp" for petty reasons (see Evil Is Petty above) and spends an entire episode chasing a terrified Rokka into joining RAS, only to rudely brush her off when she actually wants to join. This gets notched a level after finding out that LAYER and MASKING are palling around with the other bands by calling them traitors, forcing the whole band to cancel everything that isn't a rehearsal in order to focus on the competition upon finding out that RAS got knocked out of the top spot, threatens to kick out both LAYER and MASKING when they object, and calling PAREO useless when she attempts to cheer the sulking producer up which causes her to quit altogether.
  • Jerkass Has a Point:
    • Her rejection of Rokka after spending an entire episode chasing after her was decidedly not a nice move, but it wasn’t entirely unwarranted: while she doesn’t word it in a nice way, she essentially says that Rokka is holding herself back and not taking her desire to join a band seriously due to how quietly she plays the guitar during her audition.
    • When PAREO first auditions for RAISE A SUILEN, she correctly points out that PAREO is tired of her honor student persona and is therefore holding back on her musical talent.
    • In the "NO LIMIT!!!" event story, she ends up lashing out at LAYER for calling her out on her desire to crush Poppin'Party and Roselia, and while this definitely qualifies as yet another instance of her allowing her emotions to consume her and losing her temper, she also brings up LAYER's inability to make decisions on her own and preference to go with what everyone else wants.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: She can be bratty, selfish and temperamental at worst, but she's not a bad person underneath it all and it's most prominent when she recruits PAREO: Chiyu scouts her for an audition after watching her play Pastel*Palettes' songs on the piano despite her videos receiving little to no views, and correctly points out that she's holding back on expressing herself due to her status as an honor student and that she's tired of being burdened by those expectations. She then offers PAREO a spot in RAISE A SUILEN and gives her a whole slew of cute clothes to wear, thus allowing her to exprss herself the way she wants to.
  • Karma Houdini: She’s more or less responsible for Poppin’ Party being unable to play during the school festival and attempts to steal Tae away, yet she barely receives any punishment for her behavior apart from a single confrontation from LAYER, which she just smugly brushes off.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Her Jerkass attitude finally comes to a head when she accuses both MASKING and LAYER of being traitors due to them helping Poppin’Party and forces her bandmates to cut off all personal and work-related plans in order to focus on the band. Leading to MASKING to call her out and walks out for a short while when the threat of being fired comes up. And when she tells PAREO she's useless while moping in the aftermath, the latter ends up quiting the band outright until LOCK and MASKING convince her to return. All this results in her, while still deciding not to go easy on the other bands during the competition, to lighten up a bit towards her bandmates and PoPiPa.
  • The Leader: While LAYER is the band's frontwoman, she is the In-Universe leader of RAS due to being the band's producer and the one who assemble the band in the first place.
  • Mirror Character: To Yukina. Both take their goals of being at the top very seriously, their high standards make them don't allow just anybody into joining their band as they only approve those who they consider highly skilled, even those highly skilled people will still not be allowed if they lack resolves (as shown with timid Rinko and Rokka when they had their first auditions), both initially believed that friendship is unnecessary and will only hold the bands back. When Roselia received a lukewarm reception at SMS and RAS ranked back to 2nd place of Girls Band Challenge, they lost it and become very harsh and strict towards their bandmates, resulting in the bands falling apart with them having a breakdown of not knowing what to do until members of both bands learning how to solve their respective problems. Yukina even states that their similarity is the reason she joined Girls Band Challenge and accepted CHU2's invitation to perform at dub.
  • Motor Mouth: She raps in a majority of RAISE A SUILEN’s songs.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: She spends most of S3E10 sulking in her room after calling PAREO useless, which she heavily regrets.
  • The Napoleon: She's the shortest character in the franchise and takes the prize for being the most aggressive.
  • The Nicknamer: She gave everyone their stage names. At first she doesn't give Rokka a nickname until she finally recruits her as the main guitarist for RAS.
  • Parental Abandonment: Season 3 confirms that her parents are living and working overseas, and have left her alone in Japan since she started high school.
  • School Uniforms are the New Black: Her default costume is her uniform, despite her own school is only mentioned and never shown.
  • Sore Loser: She does not take it well when she finds out that RAS dropped to second place in the BanG Dream! tournament, with Roselia in first place instead. That, combined with LAYER and MASKING getting buddy-buddy with Poppin'Party, causes her jerkassery to become even worse, as she forbids her bandmates from any personal or work-related plans and refuses to let them interact with the other bands. It doesn't end well for her.
  • Spoiled Brat: She lives in a very fancy apartment, and personality wise, she's very arrogant and immature, and is prone to throwing tantrums when she doesn't get her way. It's later revealed that her trying to live up to her mother's accomplishments and high expectations is the reason why she acts this way toward everyone around her.
  • Teen Genius: Despite being 14, she is a first year in high school due to having excellent grades and skipped a grade.
  • This Is Unforgivable!: Proclaims she will destroy Roselia after Yukina rejected her offer to become the band's producer.
  • Tiny Tyrannical Girl: She's just 140cm and is the producer and de facto leader of RAISE A SUILEN, and she tends to order around her bandmates and yell at them to boss them around, as shown in these comics.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Jerky. She even enjoys it out of a wine glass.
  • Took a Level in Jerkass: Her behavior worsens when she finds out that LAYER and MASKING have been getting friendly with the other bands and they end up falling behind Roselia in the BanG Dream! tournament. As a result, she forces her bandmates to cancel any personal or work-related plans, forbids them from interacting with the other bands, forces other bands and even venues to withdraw from the competition, and calls PAREO useless after she tries to comfort her, leading her to quit until the others talk her back into rejoining.
  • Took a Level in Kindness: While she's still abrasive, CHU2 became kinder after her Heel–Face Turn and goes as far as to help the other girl bands she used to antagonize to make the event successful during the events of CiRCLE Thanks Party! ONA.
  • Tsundere: Even more so than Arisa, who is already a prominent Tsundere, although CHU2's lean more towards the Tsun side. She often expresses shock and disproval everytime she finds out that she will participate in events that don't relate to music without her knowing from her bandmates (before reluctantly agree to join them), refuses to outright admit her respect for the achievements of other bands, or especially when she's around Yukina Minato.
  • Unknown Rival: The entire reason she created RAS was to stick it to Yukina, but her attempts at intimidation always fly over Yukina's head and she just gets brushed off.
  • Walking Spoiler: Most of her Jerkass actions throughout the anime and game heavily drive the plot and serve as major aspects to her character arc, and it's thus difficult to discuss her without spoiling some of her more extreme actions like threatening to steal Tae from Poppin'Party.
