    Mashiro Kurata

Mashiro Kurata

Voiced by: Amane Shindo (Japanese)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/cyupgaofficial_art_v5cbz8.png
Birthday: February 19 (Pisces)
School: Tsukinomori Girls' Academy
Year: 1st (Season 2), 2nd (Season 3)
The vocalist and lyricist of Morfonica. A quiet and reserved girl who became overwhelmed by the gifted students surrounding her. She spend the days in sorrow until she met a certain band...
  • Chuunibyou: Though much more subdued than Ako. As shown in GARUPA☆PICO FEVER episode 10, when Ako told her to recite a phrase from her notebook that was dropped and found by Ako, she did it like the classic examples of this trope, causing Ako to declare her as a God. Mashiro, however is really embarrassed of this.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: She first appeared during the events of Band Story 2 before she, and the rest of Morfonica, officially joins the roster during the game's 3rd anniversary.
  • Friendless Background: Much like Nanami, she has no friends before the formation of Morfonica.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With LOCK. They sometimes unintentionally spark arguments on trying to one up each other on who's the bigger fan of Poppin'Party, especially about Kasumi. But other than that they are good friends.
  • Girls Love Stuffed Animals: She likes collecting stuffed animals in her room and says these stuffed animals help her relax, as revealed in the card Episode of her first 3* card.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Her biggest character flaw. She views herself as someone who is boring, has no talents, and often worries about many things like her performances. Having no friends prior to attending Tsukinomori only to find out that she's surrounded by talented and wealthy people doesn't help. Her Initial Card in Girls Band Party even named "Pessimistic Girl".
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: As noted under Never My Fault, when first forming the band, she shifts the blame on Tsukushi and Toko when the band is struggling to find success. While this does piss those two off, Toko does accept she was right to call her out in particular. Toko was only bothering to practice during their band sessions, but eventually learns that the others were still practicing at home and outside of practice, which makes her realize she wasn't taking the band seriously.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: She's initially disheartened when she arrives at Tsukinomori, due to the fact that she doesn't see herself as talented and gifted as her classmates.
  • Ms. Imagination: She uses her vivid imagination to write lyrics, best shown in Morfonication.
  • Never My Fault: While generally pessimistic and hard on herself, she has a tendency to deflect blame onto others. Then again, this trait is more of a case of Innocently Insensitive than out of malice and gradually disappears as she spends more time in Morfonica.
    • In the first band story, she kept finding excuses for her lack of improvement in her quiet singing voice. Tsukushi eventually calls her out on this when Mashiro snaps at her and Toko for their playing abilities.
    • She does it again in "Blossoming Symphony," claiming that the other girls were so different from the people she talked to beforehand and that they wouldn't want to be her friends.
  • Penny Among Diamonds: She's a normal girl that attends an elite school that is intended for the wealthy, contributing to her low self-esteem.
  • Picky Eater: She says herself that she is a picky eater, which comes in addition to her disliking spinach, peas, carrots, pickles, and most foods disliked by children, and she also doesn't react well to spicy food.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: Much like Rimi, Rinko, Kanon, and Rokka, she's very meek and reserved, to the point where she had a hard time meeting the other bands at a sakura viewing party.
  • Vocal Evolution: Compare Morfonica's earlier discography, where Amane's voice is somewhat tight, to their newer discography, where her voice is smoother and slightly deeper.

    Toko Kirigaya

Toko Kirigaya

Voiced by: Hina Suguta (Japanese)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/25iuhzofficial_art_lhjoty.png
Birthday: December 16 (Sagittarius)
School: Tsukinomori Girls' Academy
Year: 1st (Season 2), 2nd (Season 3)
The lead guitarist of Morfonica. She is a cheerful, and open-hearted, popular girl who gathers around her both in school and on social media.
  • Book Dumb: According to the "Reading Isn't My Thing" Card Story and one of the area conversations, she is bad at studying to the point where she needs to take supplementary classes, and she also tends to forget to do her homework often, which results in even more homework assigned to her, in contrast with her being known as a popular influencer who is able to find and create the latest trends.
  • Brutal Honesty: She's a nice girl, but she can also be very blunt when it comes to pointing out peoples' flaws. This is best exemplified in the "Blossoming Symphony" event story, when she calls out Mashiro for her tendency to deflect blame onto other people:
Mashiro: Everyone is so different from the kind of people I've talked to before...so when I saw them all in front of me, I lost all my confidence...I just don't think they'll ever want to be my friends...It reminded me of when I first came to Tsukinomori. Everyone else was on such a different level from me. I just didn't fit in. What can I do to fix that...?
Toko: Hmmm...well, maybe you can't. [...] You're the one blaming it on everyone else again. You said you couldn't make friends with anyone different from the people you've met before. But who wants to be friends with someone who thinks like that?
  • Catchphrase: She always says she's a genius anytime she claims to have a brilliant idea to boost Morfonica's popularity or boasting her guitar skills. Also a nonchalant "Whatever!" if anyone in the band expresses their doubts about her ideas.
  • Foil: To Lisa Imai. While both are friendly girls who like gyaru fashion, Lisa has much more resolve towards being a member of Roselia to the point of trimming her nails, whereas Toko initially doesn’t bother to practice guitar outside of the band’s practice sessions and can overall come off as frivolous sometimes. Lisa is thoughtful and sensitive to other people’s feelings, Toko can be blunt at times, and her pushy, Hot-Blooded nature often lands her in trouble with the other girls. Lisa is very humble about her bass skills but is prone to Heroic Self-Deprecation and worries about holding everyone back, Toko is much more confident though this sometimes backfires on her.
  • Gyaru Girl: Much like Lisa, she follows gyaru fashion.
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold: A blonde-haired girl with a cheerful and friendly personality.
  • Hot-Blooded: She's very full of energy and tends to charge ahead in most situations, though this leads to her coming off as impulsive.
    • This leads to the main conflict in "A Spur to Teamwork." Her motivation for collaborating with Ran for a flower arranging show is genuine and she legitimately wants to help Ran stand out, but the kimonos she initially picks out for Ran are flashy and somewhat gaudy, and that combined with her suggestion to livestream the event on social media leads to Ran accusing her of not taking the event seriously.
  • In-Series Nickname: She's known as TOKO on her social media account.
  • The Social Expert: She's very popular in-person and online, and also MCs when Morfonica goes onstage.

    Nanami Hiromachi

Nanami Hiromachi

Voiced by: Yuka Nishio (Japanese)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/syiwhmofficial_art_y7yf1l.png
Birthday: June 16 (Gemini)
School: Tsukinomori Girls' Academy
Year: 1st (Season 2), 2nd (Season 3)
The bassist of Morfonica. She is a member of the Horror Research Club who strives to be accepted as normal person, prompting her stifle her true personality.

  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Implied. When showing off the studio behind her home, she warns the other girls to stay away from the main house due to her parents being eccentric artists.
  • Birds of a Feather: She ends up bonding with Rimi due to their mutual love of horror movies.
  • Broken Ace: Reputed as an instant genius prior to attending Tsukinomori. It ended up making people jealous and refuse to be friends with her, causing her a lot of grief.
  • Foil: To Hina, as they have the ability to somehow become instantly good at many things. Though Hina is more jovial, can make friends easily, embrace her quirks, and is a straight The Ace while Nanami is more subdued, strives to be normal as possible, and is a Broken Ace that is unable to make friends prior to joining Morfonica.
  • Friendless Background: Because of how gifted she was in elementary and middle school, she couldn't make friends because her classmates either put her on a pedestal or were jealous of her.
  • Hair Color Dissonance: Her strawberry blonde hair is blonder on her sprite, while her official art makes it more pinkish.
  • I Just Want to Be Normal: She tries very hard to be like everyone else, to the point that she purposefully keeps her grades average as opposed to easily taking the top of the class rank.
  • Mellow Fellow: She's got the sweet, gentle and easy-going expression kept perpetually for most of the time, similarly to Moca.
  • The Nicknamer: She gives everyone in the band a cute nickname: "Shiro" for Mashiro, "Toko-chan" for Toko, "Tsu-chan" for Tsukushi, and "Rui-rui" for Rui.
  • Nightmare Fetishist: Much like Rimi, she loves watching horror movies, and it's the main reason she gets along with Rimi. She's also a member of the Tsukinomori Girls' Academy's Horror Research Club, which does have a lot of horror movies that Nanami regularly watches.
  • Rose-Haired Sweetie: Her unusual quirks and various attempts at trying to be "normal" aside, she's actually quite sweet and amiable for someone with pink hair, not unlike Himari or Aya, and she cares for her bandmates just as much as everyone else.
  • Springtime for Hitler: Many of her attempts to become normal such as getting an average grade on all of her tests just ended up making her more abnormal.

    Tsukushi Futaba

Tsukushi Futaba

Voiced by: Mika (Japanese)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kvgimgofficial_art_fds2xr.png
Birthday: September 15 (Virgo)
School: Tsukinomori Girls' Academy
Year: 1st (Season 2), 2nd (Season 3)
The drummer and leader of Morfonica. She is the president of her class who aims to be seen as a dependable leader, but she can be clumsy at times.
  • Class Representative: She's the class president and representative for Class 1-A of Tsukinomori Girls' Academy during GBP season 2, and Class 2-B in season 3.
  • Girlish Pigtails: She keeps her hair in this style, similarly to Arisa.
  • Height Angst: Much to her chagrin, she's often treated as or mistaken for a child, and at one point she even wishes to be as tall as Rui. Her height is 150cm, the same as Rimi of Poppin'Party and Rana from MyGO!!!!!, and only Ako of Roselia (148cm) and RAISE A SUILEN's leader, CHU2 (140cm), are shorter than her.
  • Lead Drummer: Takes this trope literally. She is both the drummer and leader of Morfonica.
  • The Leader: She winds up with the position thanks to her class representative experience.
  • Not So Above It All: While she might seem an otherwise straightforwardly confident and stubborn leader, she's just as prone into joining with others' antics or otherwise jumps in a dramatic reaction. An example of this is how she reacts to RAISE A SUILEN's appearance in Garupa PICO OHMORI episode 7.
  • Older Than They Look: She's one of the shorter and younger-looking girls, but she's around the same age as the other Morfonica members (15-16). This also applies In-Universe, where she's frequently mistaken for being younger than she actually is.
  • The Stoic: Significantly downplayed, since she's the serious hardworker-type, but she really has a heart of gold. While sometimes her face looks serious (even to the point that her normal chibi model expression seems to frown), she's actually more of the cool, hard-working type leader who's quite warm and friendly inside.
  • Vocal Dissonance: In spite of her young appearance, she has a fairly mature-sounding voice.

    Rui Yashio

Rui Yashio

Voiced by: Ayasa (Japanese)
https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rnzsnrofficial_art_4eayh6.png
Birthday: November 19 (Scorpio)
School: Tsukinomori Girls' Academy
Year: 1st (Season 2), 2nd (Season 3)
The violinist and composer of Morfonica. She is the top student in her class who initially thought of music being a fool's endeavour due to her quitting playing the violin in the past, before her view was changed when she met Mashiro and the others, prompting her to play the violin once more upon joining the band.
  • Aloof Dark-Haired Girl: She has black hair, and she is very distant and rarely shows emotion.
  • Childhood Friends: With Rinko. Ever since they were little, they entered competitions and Rui have never won one against Rinko. It was one of the reasons she quit playing violin until she is invited to join Morfonica.
  • Ink-Suit Actor: She strongly resembles her voice actress, Ayasa.
  • Last-Name Basis: Even more so than Sayo. Anyone who she refers to, she refers them with their surname and the "-san" appellation. This even includes Marina, who's normally referred to by first name by everyone else.
  • Only Sane Woman:
    • She's the most rational member of her band, compared to the timid worrywart Mashiro, the Gyaru Girl Touko, the seemingly-weird (despite trying to be normal) Nanami, and even Tsukushi, the cool leader who does actually have several surprisingly emotional moments.
    • Not only just that, she's much less prone to Not So Above It All moments when compared to otherwise similarly serious or rational characters like Yukina, Sayo, Ran, and Misaki.
  • Odd Friendship: In the later stories, she's friends with MASKING of RAISE A SUILEN, in regards to art and music appreciation. The two have significantly odd personalities: Rui's logically cold serious while appearing proper and polite on the outside, while MASKING appears delinquent-like in first impression but with a softer interior in reality.
  • Perpetual Frowner: Her default expression in her Live 2 D model is a thin frown. In fact, she's more consistent with keeping this frown than Sayo does. That said, she is still capable of showing off a warm and sincere smile at times.
  • Proper Tights with a Skirt: Her first default band outfit has her wear tights compared to the other 4 wearing short semi-translucent socks, and it adds to her being the Only Sane Woman of Morfonica.
  • Second Place Is for Losers: The reason why she initially stopped playing the violin. Her parents didn't see a point to her continuing in music if she wasn't going to get first at every contest.
  • The Stoic: The least emotive member of Morfonica. It says something that she is more stoic than the likes of Ran, Yukina and Sayo.
  • Sugar-and-Ice Personality: While she's typically stoic, and logical, it doesn't stop her from standing for her friends and bandmates, as shown in Chapter 15 of Morfonica's Band Story 1, where she stops a group of students from taking the classroom that the Morfonica members use for practicing.
  • Tsurime Eyes: Notable to be the sharpest and most slanted out of all the girls in the franchise. These sharp eyes represents her rational and logical nature.
  • Unknown Rival: It is implied that the pianist that led her to quit playing violin is Rinko Shirokane, who is also her childhood friend.
  • Younger Than They Look: Like Tomoe, Kaoru, Rei, and Masuki, Rui looks like a bit older despite being the same age as her fellow first year students due to her height at around 169cm.
