Argonavis

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/argonavis_band_logo.png
The Starship Riding on the Tailwinds of Fate.

The eponymous J-Pop Rock band formed by college students from Hakodate, Hokkaido. They consist of Ren on Vocals, Yuto on Guitar, Wataru on Bass, Rio on Keyboard, and Banri on Drums.

    General
  • Heroes Love Dogs: In the game, they own a puppy named Pon-chan that resides at their sharehouse.
  • Motifs: Constellations, which is further fueled by the fact that their band is named after one. They also have a prominent sailing motif, as their symbol is a sailboat.
  • Nice Guy: All of them are kindhearted individuals.
  • Series Mascot: Being the first boy band announced when the project was revealed, Argonavis became this for the franchise.

    Ren Nanahoshi

Ren Nanahoshi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ren_9.jpg
Image Color: Sky Blue or White
Voiced by: Masahiro Ito
Birthday: March 31 (Aries)
Height: 172cm
Weight: 52kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Law)
Likes: Singing, Lucky Pierrot's Hamburger
Dislikes: People who laugh at other's dream, Sushi

The lead vocalist of Argonavis. He's a first year law student who loves singing and has been looking for a certain “something” he felt ever since he watched an outdoor live when he was a child. He was discovered by Yuto and Wataru while singing alone in a karaoke room.

  • Endearingly Dorky: He’s generally shy and socially awkward, but once the topic switches to tokusatsu, he’ll talk your ear off.
  • Fanboy: He's a fan of the tokusatsu genre, to the point of singing his favorite show's opening theme during one of the band’s live shows.
  • Friendless Background: He did not have any friends before joining Argonavis.
  • Friendly Rivalry: With Nayuta, though it's only mostly one-sided from Ren's part. Nayuta's antagonism doesn't phase him, if anything, it just further fuels Ren's desire to befriend him as he admires Nayuta's skills.
  • The Glasses Gotta Go: If the Argonavis yonkoma, and later Puchigonavis are anything to go by, he wore glasses during high school, and currently wears contact lenses.
  • Hopeless with Tech: He is rather clueless when it comes to technology. In episode 9 of the anime, he has difficulties in operating the camera to record their live performance, and he even calls himself a "tech noob".
  • Innocently Insensitive: This comic depicts him sticking up for Yuto after Nayuta calls him a “beaten-dog”...and then proceeding to assert that he’s more like a Big Friendly Dog. Yuto doesn’t really take this well.
  • Nice Guy: The worst thing you can say about him is that he’s socially awkward and sometimes goes against other people’s wishes (such as when he tries to get Yuto to rejoin the band in episode 6), but in the end, he believes he’s doing what’s best for them and at his core, he’s an absolute sweetheart.
  • The Protagonist: Serves as this for the franchise.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The gentle, soft-spoken, and pure-hearted Sensitive Guy to Nayuta’s Manly Man.
  • Shrinking Violet: Sort of. He's socially awkward, usually quiet, soft-spoken, and prefers to be alone most of the time. However, it's also shown that he's quite proactive, has a strong resolve, and not afraid to speak up when he feels the need to. His issue is more on properly expressing his thoughts and feelings rather than taking an initiative to speak or act.
  • Shy Blue-Haired Girl: Well, blue-haired boy.
  • Silk Hiding Steel: Rare Male Example. He's normally shy, soft-spoken, and has a pure, innocent demeanor. That being said, he has a very strong resolve when it comes to his band and dream of standing on a big stage, isn't afraid to speak up when necessary, and has a powerful singing voice that gets acknowledged by the normally self-centered Nayuta.
  • Stellar Name: His surname, Nanahoshi, refers to Big Dipper, also known as Hokuto Sichisei in Japanese.
  • Terrible Artist: His drawing skills are...not particularly good. In the manga, he offers to draw the poster for Argonavis, and the result is a crudely drawn picture of the members. The rest of the members are not impressed.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Lucky Pierrot’s Chinese chicken burgers, to the point where Banri asks Ren whether he likes Chinese chicken burgers or singing more. Upon moving to Tokyo and finding out that there aren’t any Lucky Pierrot restaurants, he’s more than a little dejected.
  • Worthy Opponent: To Nayuta Asahi, who sees potential in him as a fellow vocalist and wants to face him head on once he's at his best.

    Yuto Goryo (Unmarked Spoilers)

Yuto Goryo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_a_03.jpg
Image Color: Tangerine Orange
Voiced by: Daisuke Hyuga
Birthday: August 10 (Leo)
Height: 180cm
Weight: 70kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Literature)
Likes: Friends, Ribbon Napolin
Dislikes: His Family, Stew and Hotpot Foods

The guitarist and leader of Argonavis. He is a first year literature student who was born in a well-known family in his hometown, with his father being a university professor and his elder brothers being doctors and lawyers. He was expected to follow the same path as his family, however, he hates it and chooses to find his own path. During his high school years, he used to be in a band with Kenta, Reon, and later also Nayuta, however, the band ended up falling apart after he was told by Nayuta to drop out. Unable to give up on music, he decided to form a band that is an opposite to his previous band. He started to form Argonavis along with Wataru when he entered university.

  • Black Sheep: Among his family members who are all doctors or politicians, he's the only one who isn't interested in such professions, which makes him feel out of place in his family. He's also constantly looked down upon due to him being seen as inferior to his older brothers. As he wanted to prove himself that he can also be successful on his own in music, he decided to rebel against his family and left his family's house in high school.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He dislikes hotpot, although it's not because he doesn't like the taste, but more due to bad memories with his family.
  • First-Name Basis: He refers to the Argonavis members by their first names. Even when he only just met Ren in episode 1, he immediately called him by his first name.
  • Friend to All Children: He's shown to get along well with children, as seen in the first chapter of "Stand by me" song quest story, and the untrained art of his initial 4* card also shows him playing his guitar while surrounded by kids. One area convo in AAside that can be unlocked when you send both Yuuto and Rio to take a break in the game also has Rio points out that Yuuto is good at dealing with kids, and that his friendly and cheerful personality makes children feel comfortable around him.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Has shades of this with Reon. Although Argonavis and GYROAXIA are rivals, they're shown to be on a good term with each other, particularly in AAside. They used to be friends and were in the same band together when they were in high school, but then drifted apart after Yuuto left the band. Although now they're in a different band and have to compete with one another in Live Royale Fes, they're also gradually rekindling their relationship, and even when they do express to each other their desire to be better than the other and realize their differences in their views and the kind of music they aim for, they also still genuinely care about one another.
  • Heroic Self-Deprecation: Despite his positive and seemingly confident nature, he thinks that he has terrible guitar skills, to the point that he almost ended up quitting Argonavis because he believed that he would drag the band down and someone else could be a better guitarist for the band than him.
    • He also doesn't think that he's particularly good at studying, despite him being actually smart and Wataru himself also points out at one point in a voice drama that he almost always gets excellent grades in class even though he tends to procrastinate on his assignments. Though this is most likely due to him being compared a lot to his older brothers and is seen as inferior to them.
  • Hot-Blooded: An enthusiastic and passionate young man who wants Argonavis to become a successful band.
  • Image Song: "Shining Rain", first performed in Argonavis paid livestream "Kitto Bokura wa".
  • It's Personal: He used to be in a band with Nayuta, but the band ended up falling apart due to Nayuta’s dictatorial and egotistical attitude, along with their differing values. As a result, Yuto holds a grudge against Nayuta to the point where he initially refuses to perform for GYROAXIA’s opening act for one of their shows.
  • The Leader: Of Argonavis.
  • Meaningful Name: The first kanji of his first name (結) means "tie" or "bind", which is fitting as he is the one who gathers the members of Argonavis.
  • Nice Guy: While a bit brash and impulsive at times, he's a friendly guy who's considerate and caring towards his friends, always willing to help others as much as he can, and wants the best for everyone in Argonavis. He also trusts Haruka and doesn't think that he's a bad person in "SILVER NOVA" event story, and in Argonavis band story chapter 6, he can understand and even relate to Shu because despite his actions and behavior, he notices that Shu shares similar background and struggles with him.
  • Start My Own: Yuuto’s entire motivation to form Argonavis. After getting kicked out from his previous band along with having differences and conflicting views with Nayuta, he decided to form his own “ideal” band, and not only he wants it to be successful, but also can even surpass GYROAXIA.
  • Stepford Smiler: Hot-Blooded, optimistic, and cheerful as he may be, he’s actually very insecure about his skills and his place in Argonavis, as he feels that he was the reason for the disbandment of the band he was originally in, which also causes a deep trauma on him that still lingers even in the present time. This also shows through his character songs, "As Is Aru ga Mama de" and "Shining Rain" (the latter which is sung by his voice actor), which have poignant and bittersweet lyrics in contrast to his energetic and cheerful personality.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: More like drink in this case, but he really loves Ribbon Napolin, an orange-flavored carbonated drink. Upon moving to Tokyo along with the rest of Argonavis and finds out that Ribbon Napolin isn't sold there, he decided to secretly order many of them online (though Banri finds out about it later and isn't pleased by it).
  • Walking Spoiler: Several tropes for him revolve around his relationship with some GYROAXIA members (particularly Nayuta, Reon, and Kenta), and a big part of his backstory involves his past with them as old bandmates that it's quite difficult not to bring it up when discussing his character.
  • We Used to Be Friends: He used to be friends with Reon in high school and they were in the same band together, but after he left the band, they drifted apart and did not see each other again until Argonavis and GYROAXIA's encounter. Though in their case, even though there's an awkwardness between them, they do actually still care about one another, and they also seem to gradually rekindle their relationship as seen in AAside, even with them realizing their differences and the current circumstance of them being rivals.
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: He's stuck in the shadow of his successful older brothers and decided to pursue music to prove himself to his family.

    Wataru Matoba

Wataru Matoba

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_a_02.jpg
Image Color: Periwinkle
Voiced by: Seiji Maeda
Birthday: April 22 (Taurus)
Height: 175cm
Weight: 64kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Literature)
Likes: Beautiful Words, Sweets (in general)
Dislikes: His Older Brother, Spicy Foods

The bassist and lyricist of Argonavis. He is also a literature student and tries to be realistic about the band's potential in contrast to Yuto's positivity. His older brother Kenta is also in a band, which inspired him to pick up bass. He has an inferiority complex towards his older brother and wants to surpass him.

  • Big Little Brother: He’s younger than Kenta by at least a year, but he’s 4cm taller than him.
  • Bookworm: He's stated to love reading, has an interest in novels and poetry, and is a literature major in college.
  • Composite Character: Seems to borrow traits from Saaya Yamabuki and Arisa Ichigaya, serving as Argonavis’ responsible Team Mom but also being quite cynical and easily frustrated (particularly in the Puchigonavis manga). Appearance-wise, he takes a few hallmarks from Tomoe Udagawa (somewhat spiky red hair and green eyes).
  • The Cynic: In stark contrast to the Hot-Blooded, idealistic, and optimistic Yuto, Wataru is more cautious, realistic, and pessimistic.
  • Flanderization: The Puchigonavis manga amps up his cautious and pessimistic nature by turning him into an easily-stressed fussbudget.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Gives one to Rio in the second episode when explaining why he doesn't want him in Argonavis.
"Is this the room of someone who has completely given up on baseball? It's not, is it? I can only see someone who is still clinging to past glories. I've heard the rumors. Whatever you do, you will always excel above others, a genius. I've also heard talk that you're a circle destroyer. You join a variety of circles, and play a huge role in them-but you get bored and abandon them. Betraying everyone's expectations. [...] We're serious about forming a band. If you're saying you want to join with that carefree attitude, I will never accept it!"
  • Sweet Tooth: One of his likes in his profile includes sweets.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Downplayed. Wataru and Rio tend to argue, and Wataru initially disliked Rio. That said, they seem to be putting aside their differences.

    Rio Kikyo

Rio Kikyo

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_a_05.jpg
Image Color: Sea Green
Voiced by: Shuta Morishima
Birthday: November 8 (Scorpio)
Height: 178cm
Weight: 72kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Political Economics)
Likes: Himself, Curry Rice
Dislikes: Himself, Sweet Things

The keyboardist and composer of Argonavis. He is a political economics student who originally wanted to be a baseball player. He was unfortunately injured before the high school national tournament and was forced to give up on that dream.

  • Broken Ace: He was idolized as a genius in the past due to his ability to excel at everything, but he wasn’t able to find enjoyment in what he did until he started playing baseball. After an incident where he was injured, he stopped playing and tried to find something to fill in the gap.
  • Career-Ending Injury: His elbow was injured before the national baseball tournament, and not even surgery could restore it to its original condition. He gave up on baseball as a result.
  • Last-Name Basis: He refers to the Argonavis members by their last names.
  • Real Men Hate Sugar: His profile states that he doesn't like sweets. In Puchigonavis manga, he's shown to be straight up repulsed by it.
  • The Stoic: He doesn’t emote as much as his bandmates.
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Downplayed. Wataru and Rio tend to argue, and Wataru initially disliked Rio. That said, they seem to be putting aside their differences.

    Banri Shiroishi

Banri Shiroishi

Image Color: Yellow
Voiced by: Shohei Hashimoto
Birthday: December 14 (Sagittarius)
Height: 165cm
Weight: 51kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Commerce)
Likes: Money, Milk
Dislikes: Extravagance/Wastes, Beef

The drummer of Argonavis. He is a first year business student looking for a way to rebuild his family's dairy farm, which is sunk in debt. He ends up joining Argonavis in order to earn money.

  • Competition Freak: Prior to joining Argonavis, he frequently challenged other bands to drum showdowns, then putting up videos online with whoever gaining the most votes being crowned the winner. The loser, meanwhile, had to pay the studio fee and leave. Banri won every showdown.
  • Cutting Corners: He's very stingy and will go to some pretty ridiculous lengths to spend as little money as possible.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: He first showed up in the first episode of the anime when he came to Submariner and saw the band recruitment notice that Yuuto and Wataru made. His character is officially introduced later in the third episode.
  • Only in It for the Money: With the exception of Ren, the other members of Argonavis initially accuse him of this and refuse to let him join as a result. When he shows that he’s genuinely passionate about playing the drums and reveals that he’s just trying to rebuild his family business, they change their minds. Even after he joins, however, he’s still quite stingy and money-focused, though it doesn’t extend to greed.
  • Pragmatic Hero: Whenever an opportunity for the band presents itself, Banri is usually among the first to suggest going an extra mile.
  • Sick Episode: After Argonavis’ performance in the Destiny Rock Festival, he collapses due to a blood clot in his brain and doesn’t wake up until his bandmates livestream a performance for him.
  • Surprise Car Crash: He gets involved in one of these at the end of Episode 7, and it's bad enough to destroy his scooter. He thankfully survives, but it comes at the cost of developing a twitchy hand.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: A drink in this case, but he loves milk.
  • Trauma Conga Line: He can't seem to catch a break. Not only has his family's dairy farm fallen into debt, he gets involved in a truck accident that causes him to develop a twitchy hand and forces him to regularly visit a neurologist, and he collapses due to a blood clot in his brain after Argonavis performs at the Destiny Rock Festival. Thankfully, he gets better later on.

GYROAXIA

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/gyroaxia_logo.png
The Absolute Rulers who Make Fate Yield to Reach Higher than Ever Before.

A rebellious Hard Rock band formed by college students from Sapporo, Hokkaido. They consist of Nayuta on Vocals, Kenta on Lead Guitar, Reon on Rhythm Guitar, Ryo on Bass, and Miyuki on Drums.

    General
  • Caps Lock: Their original song titles are in all caps, except "Hibana Chiru" (the only song with a Japanese title so far), which is written in kanji. As with the release of their mini album "Freestyle", other songs that don't follow this pattern are the album title song "Freestyle", "Existence", and "Dawn".
  • Darker and Edgier: They are an aggressive Hard Rock band with lyrics about being the top of the food chain and brooding themes such as parental abandonment, depression, and toxicity.
  • Deuteragonist: They're the second most important band in the series, as most of their spotlight is shared with Argonavis.
  • Famed In-Story: They’re the most popular band In-Universe, what with their sheer talent and overwhelming presence.
  • Gratuitous English: Almost all of their song titles are in English, with "Hibana Chiru" being their only Japanese song title so far. Their songs also often include some English lyrics. One of their songs, "FAR AWAY", even has the lyrics written almost entirely in English.

     Nayuta Asahi

Nayuta Asahi

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_g_03.jpg
Image Color: Red
Voiced by: Jin Ogasawara, Hikaru Tono (young)
Birthday: September 12th (Virgo)
Height: 175cm
Weight: 56kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Law)
Likes: Strength, coffee at dawn
Dislikes: His father, insects

The vocalist of GYROAXIA. He has high expectations of his bandmates (who he actually shows little interest in otherwise) and won't hesitate to cut them off if they don't live up to them. He dislikes his father, who was a legendary musician, for abandoning him and his mother, and formed GYROAXIA in order to get revenge on him.

  • Adaptational Jerkass: In the manga adaptation, he's significantly more hostile towards Ren than in the anime.
  • Cute Little Fangs: He's often depicted with some pretty sharp canines, though the artists are rather inconsistent when it comes to drawing them and they're absent from his model in the game.
  • Delicate and Sickly: He's had asthma since childhood.
  • Introverted Cat Person: According to the Puchigonavis manga, cats tend to flock to him.
  • Jerkass: He’s not a very pleasant guy.
    • He will berate you if you mess up during practice/a live performance, even if it's minor. When Yuto messes up during a practice session, Nayuta orders him to leave the band and calls him trash.
    • He doesn’t care one bit about his bandmates and is more than willing to throw them out if they don't meet his high standards.
  • My Way or the Highway: He is willing to cut off his bandmates if they don’t live up to his expectations.
  • Parental Abandonment: His father left him and his mother.
  • Perpetual Frowner: He almost never smiles and is typically seen with a scowl on his face. He smiles even less than Haruka.
  • Pet the Dog: In the anime, after hearing that Argonavis is unable to participate in the Destiny Rock Festival, he offers Ren some genuine advice, and he also invites him to come onstage during the Destiny Rock Festival and promotes Argonavis despite showing little interest in the band beforehand. However, it's more of a downplayed case, as he actually only does those things because he wants to be able to beat Ren on stage.
  • Precision F-Strike: He drops a few F-bombs in "HELLO" and "WORLD IS MINE."
  • The Quiet One: He’s generally a man of few words and he doesn’t like talking during interviews.
  • Sensitive Guy and Manly Man: The sharp-tongued, abrasive, and aloof Manly Man to Ren’s Sensitive Guy.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Downplayed, he's not evil, he's just a self-centered Jerkass with high expectations.

     Kenta Satozuka

Kenta Satozuka

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_g_05.jpg
Image Color: Surfie Green
Voiced by: Shinichi Hashimoto
Birthday: October 22nd (Libra)
Height: 171cm
Weight: 59kg
Occupation: 3rd year College Student (Business Administration)
Likes: Nayuta Asahi, Wine
Dislikes: Disturbances, Japanese rice wine

The lead guitarist of GYROAXIA, in addition to being its leader. He is proficient in intel-gathering and uses this skill to gather information on rival bands. He adores Nayuta, but rather as a vocalist instead of a person, and is also Wataru's older brother.

  • Big Brother Instinct: Despite Wataru's dislike of him, he unconditionally loves and is protective of his little brother, even offering him some advice and a listening ear when he's in need of it.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: While he seems to be one of the more approachable members of GYROAXIA and a caring older brother to Wataru, he also has a cold attitude towards his bandmates, and even with Nayuta, he only appreciates him as a vocalist, not as a person. The colder side of him is particularly obvious in GYROAXIA prequel novel. For example, in chapter 1 of the novel, Kenta admits to Miyuki that he deleted the video that Shinya, a past member, sent to Nayuta to convince him that he can return as the drummer of the band again, and said that Nayuta “doesn’t need noises like that.” Miyuki doesn’t take it well.
  • Image Song: "STORM", first performed in GYROAXIA paid livestream "Hibana Chiru".
  • Lead Bassist: He was the lead bassist and vocalist of his old band he made with Yuuto and Reon during their high school years. Later Nayuta joined as the vocalist, but Kenta still kept his position as the bassist until Yuuto left the band and Ryo joined the reformed band.
  • The Leader: Of GYROAXIA. While Nayuta calls the band's shots and serves as its face due to his position as a vocalist, Kenta is the one who does admin work and serves as the band's MC, in addition to being the one people go to when they want a question answered.
  • Pet the Dog: While rather cold towards his bandmates, he has a genuine friendship with Ryo and is the only member of GYROAXIA who seems to understand his alien fantasies.

     Reon Misono (Unmarked Spoilers)

Reon Misono

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/img_g_01.jpg
Image Color: Gray
Voiced by: Takumi Mono
Birthday: January 30th (Aquarius)
Height: 177cm
Weight: 63kg
Occupation: 1st year College Student (Literature)
Likes: City, eating soba while standing
Dislikes: Cold Weather, Stupid Guys

The rhythm guitarist of GYROAXIA. A stubborn yet patient young man who won't stop what he's doing until he excels at it. He really doesn't like Nayuta, but he always holds back from directly confronting him and stays in GYROAXIA due to their talent.

  • Celibate Hero: Doesn't express an interest in girls and romance despite his popularity, as he wants to devote himself to the band more at the moment.
  • Chick Magnet: He's stated to be very popular among girls. In his character history in the game, it's said that during a school trip in his 3rd grade of junior high school, he got confessed by eleven girls, making him a legend in junior high school.
  • Friendly Rivalry: Has shades of this with Yuuto.
  • Only Sane Man: Subverted. While he's generally one of the more rational members of GYROAXIA, he gets worked up easily and is prone to being consumed by his hostility towards Nayuta.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: In part 3 of GYROAXIA's band story, Reon gets upset over Nayuta keeping quiet about his asthma and Kenta knowing about it but saying nothing. Frustrated over the prospect of Nayuta risking his health to continue doing lives, Reon temporarily quits the band.
  • Throw It In!: In-Universe, he has a tendency to ad-lib during shows, much to Nayuta's chagrin.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He loves croquette soba.
  • We Used to Be Friends: He used to be friends with Yuuto in high school and they were in the same band together, but after Yuuto left the band, they drifted apart and did not see each other again until Argonavis and GYROAXIA's encounter. Though in their case, even though there's an awkwardness between them, they do actually still care about one another, and they also seem to gradually rekindle their relationship as seen in AAside, even with them realizing their differences and the current circumstance of them being rivals.

The bassist of GYROAXIA. He claims to have committed a crime back on his home planet and was banished to Earth as a result. Despite his odd nature, he is something of a genius since he was able to join GYROAXIA without a sweat.

  • Cloudcuckoolander: Claims to be an alien from another planet.
  • Expy: Seems to be one to Moca Aoba due their overly laid-back natures, drawn-out way of speaking, and Cloudcuckoolander tendencies.
  • For Happiness: His enjoys making other people happy since he claims that he was banished from his home planet for the crime of being unable to make people happy.

The drummer of GYROAXIA. A former kickboxer who switched to drumming in order to become more popular. While he can be flirtatious and somewhat superficial in appearance, he’s an easygoing and friendly guy.

  • Formerly Fat: As stated in his character history, he used to be fat when he was a child.
  • Jerkass to One: He's normally very friendly and mellow, but he's significantly more hostile towards Kenta since he strongly disagrees with his management policies.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: Sports very long blonde hair as part of his appearance.

Birthday: February 12th (Aquarius)
Height: 182 cm
Weight: 71kg
Occupation: French Teacher
Likes: Cooking (even though he’s bad at it), Black Tea
Dislikes: Lightning

The vocalist of Fantôme Iris. Born in France to an aristocratic family (where he gets his attractive looks and proficiency in foreign languages), he works as a language professor as his day job. His Visual Kei persona is a vampire lord who aims to build a kingdom where humans and vampires co-exist.

  • Friendly Neighborhood Vampire: His Visual Kei persona is a vampire who wishes for harmony between humans and vampires, and outside of the band he’s a very pleasant guy.
  • Lethal Chef: He can't cook to save his life, and what doesn’t help matters is that he genuinely enjoys cooking and is blissfully unaware that his bandmates don't enjoy his food. Case in point, in one of his card stories he adds tabasco and red bean paste to a seafood dish.
  • Long-Haired Pretty Boy: His long hair only adds to his beautiful design.
  • Token Minority: Unlike the rest of the cast, all of whom are Japanese, Felix has French heritage.

Birthday: April 12th (Aries)
Height: 176cm
Weight: 68kg
Occupation: System Engineer
Likes: Collecting photos, Energy drinks
Dislikes: Waking up early (Due to low blood pressure)

One of the guitarists of Fantôme Iris. A reliable and hard-working system engineer (in other words, a corporate slave) by day, and a self-proclaimed half-vampire by night. His Visual Kei persona is that of FELIX's right hand man, and he was originally a human.

  • Chuunibyou: He used to be this in the past, and he becomes embarrassed when it gets brought up.
  • Dhampyr: His LIGHT persona is one of these.
  • Forgotten First Meeting: The character histories reveal that he and Felix actually have met before when they were children at the museum. While Tomoru does remember that he met a boy at that time, he doesn't remember his face, and so he's unaware that Felix is the boy that he met in his childhood.
  • Not a Morning Person: His profile states that he dislikes waking up early, and it shows in this comic.
  • Only Friend: He was Jun’s first and only friend back in college.
  • Soul-Crushing Desk Job: He works as a system engineer during the day, but the work conditions he endures are atrocious and leave him perpetually overworked and tired.

Dislikes: Felix’s cooking

One of the guitarists of Fantôme Iris. Offstage, he is typically frail and timid, preferring to shut himself in his room and play video games, but when he switches to his ZACK persona onstage or while gaming, he suddenly becomes unbelievably vulgar. His Visual Kei persona is a crass vampire who was abandoned and taken in by FELIX.

  • Born Unlucky: He almost never goes through his daily life without any sort of misfortune happening to him, such as getting washed out by the rain, falling from stairs, and even getting kidnapped in the Kyouki no Melody song story. Main Story Extra Chapter 4 stated that he has always been unlucky since he was one year old.
  • Butt-Monkey: He's quite often treated as this in the story. Aside from his own misfortunes, he also sometimes gets teased for being jobless.
  • Cute Little Fangs: A staple of his design. Oddly enough, despite Fantôme Iris being vampire-themed, he's the only member with conspicuous fangs.
  • NEET: The only member of Fantôme Iris without a proper day job.
  • Prone to Tears: He cries a lot.
  • Sir Swears-a-Lot: As ZACK, to the point where his swearing has to be censored on television.
  • Shrinking Violet: Offstage, he’s extremely withdrawn and bad with people outside the band.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: He owns a hedgehog named Johnny with a red streak in its quills, not unlike that of ZACK’s.

The bassist of Fantôme Iris. An infamous former delinquent known as the "Tiger of Mikawa", he eventually had a change of heart and became a nursery school teacher. His Visual Kei persona is that of a female vampire hailing from a different faction from FELIX, but he eventually came to understand his ideals and they now work together.

The drummer of Fantôme Iris. Koharu's childhood friend who works as a cafe manager during the day, he has difficulty expressing his feelings and the Face of a Thug, but he's not a bad person. His Visual Kei persona is a priest who accidentally summoned FELIX and is now working with him due to his sense of responsibility.

  • Childhood Friends: With Koharu since elementary school. It’s noted in his profile that he often brings Koharu home after he gets arrested.
  • Face of a Thug: He may appear menacing at first glance, but he’s a very Nice Guy.
  • Token Human: Unlike the rest of his bandmates, who have vampire personas, Daimon's D persona is a human priest.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: He's afraid of ghosts. Funnily enough, he’s 32.

Fujin RIZING!

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/fujin_rizing_logo.png
Having fun is Number One! Be rowdy and call us with a Banzai!

An energetic Ska band formed by college students from Nagasaki. They consist of Futa on Vocals and Saxophone, Yamato on Guitar, Aoi on Trombone (or Keyboard, depending on the song), Kouhei on Bass, and Misaki on Drums.

    General
  • Boys Like Creepy Critters: They own an iguana named Rex that is particularly fond of Yamato and Misaki, but doesn’t like Kohei. Aoi averts this trope, as his profile states that he dislikes “creepycrawlies.”
  • Cerebus Syndrome: They're introduced as a cheerful and energetic Ska band, and the first few chapters of their band story in AAside, while do have some conflicts, are mostly lighthearted. Starts from chapter 4, things begin to become progressively more serious, starts from when Tadaomi placed Fuuta's saxophone "Sakutaro" on a road to let it get run over. Then the story begins to showcase more things such as Fuuta's condition, Kouhei's Dark and Troubled Past and his internal conflict, and the person Sakutaro, who turns out to be Fuuta's older brother and Kouhei's childhood best friend.
  • Childhood Friends: With the exception of Yamato, they all grew up together.
  • Lighter and Softer: As an energetic and cheerful Ska band, their songs are the most lighthearted and cheery in terms of music and lyrics (with the exception of "longing"). In terms of the group itself and the storyline, they seem to be this at first, but ultimately end up being a subversion (see Cerebus Syndrome above).
  • Officially Shortened Title: The band members call themselves as "Fuurai" for short.
  • Punny Name: From "Fūjin" and "Raijin", the Japanese gods of wind and thunder respectively.
  • Ragtag Bunch of Misfits: Futa is very hyperactive and prone to getting in trouble, Yamato isn’t very bright and is prone to causing fights because of his poor tact, Kohei can be terrifying when angry and somehow possesses Super-Strength, and Misaki is a delinquent whose intelligence is overshadowed by his tendency to lose his cool. Aoi serves as the Straight Man.
  • Ska: The genre they focus on.
  • With a Friend and a Stranger: The band consists of four childhood friends and Yamato being the “stranger”, since he only joins the band and gets to know the members in his third year of high school. Though Fuuta doesn’t treat Yamato any different from the rest of the group and values him as much as his childhood friends.

Dislikes: Being quiet & motionless, Rain, Hospitals

The vocalist of Fujin RIZING. He is positively innocent, but has a knack of getting into trouble due to his outrageous behavior. He smiles often, but he also cries a lot. He owns a saxophone he calls "Sakutaro."

  • Companion Cube: His saxophone, nicknamed “Sakutaro”. It was originally owned by Futa's older brother, and it was named after him. Futa took the saxophone in his 3rd year of junior high school and started calling it "Sakutaro" as a way to cope with his brother's death in his 2nd year of junior high school.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He used to have an older brother named Sakutaro, but then he died due to an illness when he was in 2nd year of junior high school. He was unable to accept his death to the point that when he found his saxophone one day, he started carrying it around and calling it "Sakutaro" that he forgot about his own brother entirely.
  • For Happiness: His primary goal is not only to have fun, but also to ensure that the audience is having fun. This ends up getting deconstructed when Yamato gets frustrated with his overly carefree and unpredictable nature and lashes out at him for attempting to force him in adopting this mindset, but it’s eventually reconstructed when Yamato has a Jerkass Realization and decides to join him in making people happy.
  • Heroic BSoD: His character history states that he experienced this after the death of his older brother Sakutaro in his 2nd year of junior high school. Unable to accept his death, he was in absent-minded state and even stopped going to school. That is, until he found Sakutaro's saxophone in his third year, and started treating it as his replacement.
  • Idiot Hair: Has one in the shape of a lightning bolt.
  • Keet: Very energetic and enthusiastic.
  • Protectorate: He's this to Kouhei, and anyone who dares to hurt him will receive his wrath, as shown in Fujin RIZING band story chapter 4 when Kouhei sees Tadaomi places Futa's saxophone "Sakutaro" on a road to let it get run over.
  • Tragic Keepsake: Futa's saxophone "Sakutaro" turns out to be this, as it was originally owned by his deceased older brother. After Sakutaro's death, he found his saxophone in his 3rd year of junior high school, and started carrying it around and even called it with his brother's name, treating it as a replacement to the point that he forgot about his own brother's existence.
  • Trauma-Induced Amnesia: He repressed his memories about his brother Sakutaro along with his death after finding his saxophone and treating it as a replacement, which results in him forgetting about his brother's existence.
  • Uncatty Resemblance: Rex, Fujin RIZING’s pet iguana, bears a lightning-shaped ahoge not unlike Futa’s.
  • Verbal Tic: Tends to end his sentences with "-bai".

Voiced by: Makoto Kaneko
Birthday: August 31st (Virgo)
Height: 179cm
Weight: 70kg
Occupation: 1st Year College Student (Literature)
Likes: White rice, Ring puzzles
Dislikes: Sara Udon (specialty of Nagasaki)

The guitarist of Fujin RIZING. Despite his good looks, he isn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed and has rather shoddy guitar skills. He can be blunt at times, which usually results in him causing fights, and he isn't as acquainted with the rest of the band since he recently moved to Nagasaki.

  • Brutal Honesty: He's very direct and doesn't mince words, which results in him inciting into a lot of fights. His Establishing Character Moment has him give a verbal dressing-down to Fujin RIZING and point out exactly why he thinks they suck.
  • Does Not Like Spam: He hates sara udon. This puts him at odds with Misaki, who loves it and regularly cooks it for the band.
  • Hypocrite Has a Point: For all of his blunt criticism towards Fujin RIZING's skills in spite of his inability to play guitar, the other members of the band (except Misaki) acknowledge that his criticism isn't entirely unwarranted.
  • Jerkass Realization: After Yamato lashes out at Futa in the middle of a live and Aoi gets upset with the two over it, he realizes that he was ignoring his lack of skill and pushing the blame onto the other members.
  • No Sense of Direction: He's bad with directions and tends to get lost easily.
  • Not So Stoic: He normally sports a poker face and speaks in a flat tone, but he ends up yelling at Futa in the middle of a live after he unexpectedly changes the setlist.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Prior to joining the band, he gives one to Fujin RIZING in which he elaborates on their faults and why their live wasn't successful:
"I got sick of your performance. First off, the drummer. Your tempo is all over the place. You’re not supposed to do fills all the time. You should focus on following the rhythm more. Since the bassist is in charge of the rhythm, the drummer should be doing more. The bassist that’s supposed to be the base of the band ended up being a tool to cover for all the mess everyone else is making. The trombonist is too careless when changing notes. I bet you don’t even bother to do lip slurs. The one who’s supposed to give this band more range ends up just following the others. And then the vocalist. Your freedom is the cause of all this mess. You’re too focused on exciting the audience and you’re just using your band members."
  • Trademark Favorite Food: White rice, so much that Fujin RIZING has an entire song dedicated to it.

Likes: Things that make people happy, Super Spicy Food, Tsuruchan's Milk Seki
Dislikes: Insects, Creepycrawlies

The trombonist of Fujin RIZING. He normally serves as the group's Tsundere Straight Man, but he's also a crybaby who gets lonely easily. Due to him taking piano lessons in the past, he sometimes plays the keyboard.

  • Composite Character: He shares traits with Aya Maruyama (pink hair, pink eyes, cries easily), Arisa Ichigaya (Tsundere who plays the keyboard), and Misaki Okusawa (serves as a Straight Man to a trio called the "three dummies".) from BanG Dream!.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: He has a rather feminine appearance, and according to Misaki's character history in the game, he was mistaken for a girl when Misaki first met him in their childhood.
  • Happily Adopted: He's an adopted child who was taken in by the Wakakusa couple when he was five years old, and he loves them dearly.
  • In Touch with His Feminine Side: With his tendency to cry easily, pink Color Motif, role as Fujin RIZING's Team Mom, and interest in classical music, Aoi is easily among the least masculine characters in the franchise.
  • Prone to Tears: He cries a lot.
  • Straight Man: Acts as this to Futa, Yamato, and Misaki.
  • Team Mom: He serves as the band's caretaker of sorts. His initial 4* even depicts him covering his bandmates with blankets.
  • Tsundere

The bassist and leader of Fujin RIZING. Serving as a brotherly figure to the band, he is generally friendly, but he can be terrifying when angered, not helped by the fact that he somehow possesses Super-Strength.

  • Affectionate Nickname: His friends call him "Ko-nii."
  • Animals Hate Him: Rex, Fujin RIZING’s pet iguana, gives him the cold shoulder.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: He's normally very friendly, but he can be terrifying when he gets mad as shown in Fujin RIZING Band Story Chapter 4 for example, when he found out that Tadaomi left Futa's saxophone "Sakutaro" on the road to let it get run over by a car, and possesses superhuman strength to boot. The "terrifying" side of him can also be activated when he eats spicy food, as shown in the "Sore ga Aniki" quest story, which the others refer to as "Aniki Mode".
  • Childhood Friends: Aside from everyone in Fujin RIZING (except Yamato), he was also childhood friends with Sakutaro, Fuuta's older brother.
  • Cool Big Bro: Serves as an older brother figure to his Childhood Friends and the band as a whole.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: He used to be best friends with Fuuta's older brother Sakutaro since childhood, but then he died due to an illness, and his regrets and disappointment of not being able to fulfill their promises led to him being a delinquent in high school. Even after he quit being one, he's still in pain over his death, and he decided to fulfill Sakutaro's one last wish, for him to protect Fuuta's "fun".
  • Declaration of Protection: He vows to protect Futa no matter what happens. It's because Futa's older brother Sakutaro's last words to him before he died was telling him to take care of Futa and protect his "fun". After noticing Futa's change since Sakutaro's death, he remembered Sakutaro's last words and swore to protect him since then.
  • Flashback Nightmare: At the beginning of Fujin RIZING band story chapter 5 part 3, he had a dream of his past, with a CG of himself covered with bruises looking on his hand while it's raining, and a monologue of him unable to accept that he had lost "something". It depicts the time when he became a delinquent after Futa's older brother Sakutaro's death, due to his disappointment of not being able to fulfill his promises with him.
  • Japanese Delinquents: Like Koharu, he used to be one during his high school years after his best friend and Futa's older brother Sakutaro died, due to his disappointment of not being able to fulfill his promises with him to form a ska band together and travel around the world, though after noticing Futa's change since Sakutaro's death, which made him remember Sakutaro's last words asking him to take care of Futa, he eventually stopped in his third year.
  • The Promise: In the past, he made a promise to Sakutaro to fulfill his Last Request to him to protect Fuuta's smile during Sakutaro's last moment. This promise becomes a crucial part in the band's storyline and Kouhei's character, as it shapes his actions throughout the story.
  • Scars Are Forever: He has a small scar on the right side of his forehead.
  • Stepford Smiler: He has shades of this. While appears as friendly and nice, over the course of the story, particularly in Fujin RIZING band story chapter 5 and "Let's go California" event story, it's shown that he has his struggles being the "big brother" figure of the band, particularly in regard to protect Fuuta, and that deep down, he's still in pain over the death of Sakutaro (not the sax, but a real person), who's eventually revealed to be his childhood best friend and Fuuta's older brother.

Dislikes: Milk

The drummer of Fujin RIZING. In spite of his delinquent looks and behavior, he has a strong sense of justice and is surprisingly intelligent, but this is overshadowed by his tendency to get flustered easily.

  • All of the Other Reindeer: His character history reveals that he used to be bullied and ostracized in his elementary school years, to the point that he was Driven to Suicide, but then was eventually saved by Kouhei. Fujin RIZING band story chapter 6 also tackles on this issue, and how he begins to learn to face his own past.
  • Cute Little Fangs: They highlight his rowdy and Hot-Blooded nature.
  • Expy: To Masuki Sato/MASKING. Both are the rude-looking character that are actually sweet and have a Gap moe.
  • Friend to All Children: His 3* card story from "We are Fujin RIZING!" event, which shows him interacting with some little boys, seems to indicate that he gets along well with children.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: It’s very easy to rile him up.
  • Mythology Gag: While they have different kanji in their given Japanese name, he has the same English spelling name as Misaki Okusawa.

εpsilonΦ

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/epsilonphi_logo.png
The Cruel Yet Innocent Demons That Toy With the World.

A gritty techno pop band formed by a middle schooler and 4 high schoolers from Kyoto. They consist of Shu on Vocals, Haruka on Guitar and Vocals, Kanata on Bass, Tadaomi on Synthesizer, and Reiji on Drums.

     General
  • The Baby of the Bunch: They're high school students (plus one middle schooler) as opposed to college students like a majority of the cast.
  • Darker and Edgier: Even moreso than GYROAXIA as their discography has darker lyrics compared to the other songs in the franchise.
  • Dysfunction Junction: Easily the most screwed-up band in the franchise. Shu is a Sadist who views the world as his “toy box,” Haruka has a seething hatred towards Kanata, a Yandere who enjoys making him suffer, Reiji is stuck as Shu’s personal slave, and Tadaomi's inability to understand human emotions makes him morally ambiguous.
    • This trope is actually invoked by Shu himself, particularly when it comes to the Nijo twins. According to him, the more dysfunctional they are, the better they play.

Dislikes: Vegetables (as a whole), Staying Patient

The primary vocalist of εpsilonΦ. The child of the CEO of Duck River, a very well-known and powerful record label, he appears innocent on the outside, but on the inside, he is a Sadist who views the world as his "toy box" and enjoys ruining people's lives.

  • The Baby of the Bunch: The youngest of the cast at age 13, and the only middle school student in the franchise.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Not to the same extent as Koharu, but his hairstyle and voice can give off feminine impressions.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Heartless and sadistic he may be, he genuinely loves his dog, Momo.
  • Face of an Angel, Mind of a Demon: A cute-looking and androgynous middle schooler who sees the world as his plaything and finds entertainment in making people miserable.
  • For the Evulz: Much of what he does is, up to and including sabotaging the Live Royal Fes, is for his own amusement...sort of.
  • Freudian Excuse: His cruel and sadistic personality comes from him never receiving any love and attention from his father and being constantly neglected by him.
  • The Heavy: He’s largely responsible for several of the story’s conflicts, such as the Flame War between GYROAXIA and Fantome Iris’ fanbases and the equipment failures during the main performance.
  • Important Haircut: At the end of the voice drama "Raison d'être -Wailing Song-", he asks Reiji to cut his hair short, symbolizing him beginning to move on from his past and start anew.
  • Jerkass: He makes Nayuta look like a Nice Guy in comparison.
  • Kids Are Cruel: Despite being 13, he has a very sadistic personality and he spends much of his time ruining people’s lives For the Evulz.
  • Sadist: He enjoys watching people suffer.
  • Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: For such a young boy, he has an incredibly demonic mindset and the songs he writes have dark and disturbing themes. This is Lampshaded by Koharu in his LRF interview:
Koharu: ...εpsilonΦ's got a junior high school student among them, yet a mature sound, which is kinda worrying me a little. Aren’t they trying too hard?
  • "Well Done, Son" Guy: The true reason for Shu's actions and behavior is because of his desire for his father to pay attention to him and acknowledge him.

Birthday: June 16th (Gemini)
Height: 175cm
Weight: 60kg
Occupation: High School Second Year Student
Likes: Tenkaippin, "Flavor of the Month" Ice Cream
Dislikes: His Younger Brother

The guitarist and secondary vocalist of εpsilonΦ. He is generally apathetic, uncooperative and something of a loner, but he has a seething hatred towards his brother, Kanata, and his mere presence is enough to sour his mood.

  • Aloof Big Brother: He’s the elder Nijo twin who Kanata deeply loves, but Haruka tries to avoid Kanata as much as possible. Even outside of this hatred for his brother, he’s generally quite apathetic.
    • Subverted when he was younger, as Kanata once mentions in an interview that Haruka took care of him whenever he was sick. A flashback from part 3 of εpsilonΦ Band Story Chapter 4 also shows that he used to be kind and caring towards Kanata when they were younger.
  • Always Identical Twins: Averted, as the viewer wouldn’t be able to tell that he and Kanata are twins if it wasn’t outright stated.
  • Berserk Button: Kanata is a major sore spot for him, to the point where the mere mention of him is enough to put him in a bad mood. Given how Kanata is constantly isolating, overshadowing, and emotionally abusing him, however, this hatred is far from unwarranted.
  • Fanboy: Like Ren, he is a fan of tokusatsu.
  • I Just Want to Have Friends: Despite his nature as an uncooperative loner, Haruka has a genuine desire for friends, which can be seen when he seeks out Yamato a second time after a previous run-in at a music store. That being said, he’s mostly resigned to being alone due to him feeling that being isolated by Kanata is inevitable.
  • Jerkass to One: He's generally unfriendly and apathetic to most people, but he's particularly shown to be extremely hostile to his twin brother Kanata, though it's with a very good reason, as he overshadows him in various things and isolates him so that he would remain alone.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Jerk is kind of a stretch; compared to his bandmates he's by no means a bad person (to the point where he's the Token Good Teammate), but he can be rather sharp-tongued and rude at times, usually not referring to people by their names or with honorifics. His nicer side is much more apparent when he's around Ren (one of the very few genuine friends he has), and in the "SILVER NOVA" story he admits to Yuto that he feels guilty for being associated with Shu and doing nothing to stop his actions. The song quest "Nihilistic Sai-Phi" also showcases his nicer side, as he decides to help one of his classmates (who initially asked him for help) to improve his guitar playing, and he even genuinely compliments his classmate's performance at the end of the story.
  • Lazy Bum: If his episode of ARGOHANnote  is anything to go by. Unlike the others, who put time and effort in their cooking, Haruka simply buys ice cream from the store and puts it on a plate.
  • Only Sane Man: His extreme hatred towards Kanata aside, he’s the closest to being the most rational member of εpsilonΦ. In the voice drama "Kodomo no Asobi", Haruka is the only one who acknowledges how messed up Shu's actions are, as he's angry at him when he finds out that Shu did something to their rival band that caused them to drop out.
  • Sour Outside, Sad Inside: He’s generally abrasive towards Kanata (and almost everyone else for that matter), but it’s for good reason: Kanata is constantly isolating and overshadowing him and ensuring that he doesn’t have any friends.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: The "SILVER NOVA" event story sees him befriending and getting close with Ren, and by the end of the story the two get a chance to perform onstage together. It's one of the very few moments where he gets a much-needed break from his Dysfunction Junction of a band, up to and including his emotionally abusive brother.
  • Token Good Teammate: The one member of εpsilonΦ who isn't morally corrupt (Shu, Kanata, Tadaomi) or carrying out Shu's plans to ruin the Live Royal Fes (Reiji).
  • Trademark Favorite Food: He likes ice cream.
  • Tsurime Eyes: In contrast with Kanata's Tareme Eyes, highlighting his grumpy and aloof personality.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: A flashback in εpsilonΦ Band Story Chapter 4 Part 3 shows that he used to be a kind and caring older brother to Kanata when they were younger, and Kanata also saw him as a “hero”. Ever since Kanata began to copy him and took all the attention to himself, Haruka grew to become a cynical and apathetic person he is now.
  • When He Smiles: Haruka is usually in a bad mood, but when he’s genuinely happy, it’s adorable.

Dislikes: Tokusatsu (transforming heroes)

The bassist of εpsilonΦ. A cheerful and outgoing teenager with a hidden dark side regarding his brother, Haruka. He enjoys making and watching Haruka suffer as his way of showing love for him, even if this love isn't reciprocated.

  • Always Identical Twins: Averted, as the viewer wouldn’t be able to tell that he and Haruka are twins if it wasn’t outright stated.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Heavily Played for Drama. Kanata intentionally gets on Haruka's nerves by overshadowing him in everything he does, emotionally abusing him, and ensuring that he's isolated and stuck in his shadow.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: He seems friendly and energetic on the surface, but he has a very twisted mindset when it comes to Haruka and regularly goes about making his life absolutely miserable.
  • Keet: He’s typically cheerful and outgoing.
  • Kick the Dog: After he performs a street live with Haruka (and steals most of the attention from him in the process), he outright tells him to his face that he wasn't needed.
  • Manipulative Bastard: Whenever he feels that someone is getting close with Haruka, he “warns” them to stay away from Haruka and deliberately paints him in a negative light in order to further isolate him and ensure that he has no friends.
  • The Nicknamer: He likes to give cutesy nicknames to other characters that he meets, such as “Watarun” for Wataru, “Zakkyun” for Jun, and “Nayupippi” for Nayuta.
  • Sadist: Almost as bad as Shu in this regard. Not only does he go out of his way to purposefully isolate Haruka and make him feel lonely, he gets unnervingly giddy whenever Haruka shows any sort of negative emotions towards him.
  • Satellite Character: An In-Universe deconstruction. Despite his strong, outgoing personality, much of his life revolves around Haruka, whether it be his personality or his music. Ryo even comments that Kanata's sound is more of a copy of Haruka's and less of a reflection of his own emotions.
  • Spotlight-Stealing Squad: In-Universe. Throughout εpsilonΦ's band story, his bass parts end up completely overshadowing Haruka's guitar parts due to the way Shu composed their new song, and when the twins perform a street live together, Kanata ends up gaining most of the attention and overshadowing Haruka's sound once again, even treating a song that Haruka wrote as his own creation.
  • Tareme Eyes: In contrast with Haruka's Tsurime Eyes, highlighting his (usually) friendly and peppy personality.
  • Third-Person Person: Refers to himself as “Kana-chan.”
  • Unusual Pets for Unusual People: He owns an axolotl named Paru-chan, and personality-wise, he’s...not exactly stable.
  • Yandere: Non-murderous/romantic example. Kanata utilizes his friendly and upbeat personality to ensure that everyone flocks to him instead of Haruka, isolating him as a result and ensuring that Kanata gets to keep Haruka to himself.

Birthday: January 4th (Capricorn)
Height: 179cm
Weight: 61kg
Occupation: High School Third Year Student
Likes: School, Mathematics, Human Observation
Dislikes: "What are dislikes?"

The synthesizer of εpsilonΦ. A gentle young man who likes observing humanity and is willing to learn everything about it, but his inability to comprehend basic concepts makes him rather...morally ambiguous.

  • Beware the Quiet Ones: At first glance, he appears to be one of the kinder and gentler members of εpsilonΦ, and some might get the impression that he’s the Only Sane Man…except he’s not.
    • In the "Insanity of reason" quest story, not only does he attempt to tear a bird's wings off in hopes of finding inspiration for song lyrics, he attempts to break Tomoru's arm.
    • In Chapter 4 of Fujin RIZING’s Band Story, he places "Sakutaro", Futa’s beloved saxophone, into the street just to see how he’d react, and he ends up getting excited by Futa’s horrified reaction.
  • Empty Eyes: Gets these during his more sadistic moments.
  • Intrigued by Humanity: According to his profile, he enjoys observing humanity.
  • Soft-Spoken Sadist: When it comes down to it, Tadaomi can be just as sadistic as Shu and Kanata, finding a morbid fascination with people’s negative emotions (best seen when he places Futa’s saxophone into the street to get run over) while still retaining his quiet and polite demeanor.
  • Walking Spoiler: Good luck discussing him without bringing up his true nature as a Soft-Spoken Sadist.

The drummer of εpsilonΦ. The adopted child of the Karasuma Family, who has served the Ujigawa Conglomerate for a long time, leaving him stuck as Shu's personal servant. Generally polite and level-headed, but he looks down on humanity and is something of a Neat Freak.

  • Berserk Button: When Tadaomi refers to him by his previous surname, "Fushimi", in the "Yume no Ato" event story, he is absolutely furious.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: His biological family, the Fushimi family, used to own a record company in the past, however the deterioration of the relationship between his father and the Ujigawa group led to the bankruptcy of the company, and his family ended up living in poverty. After learning the truth that Shu's father was the cause of the company's downfall, he started hating the Ujigawa family and vowed revenge against them.
  • Neat Freak: He likes to clean, and it's strongly implied that it's the one thing he finds genuine happiness in.
  • Pet the Dog: While he initially dislikes Shu's selfish attitude, in "Raison d'être -Wailing Song-" voice drama, he acknowledges that his father made Shu the way he is and that it's his father who he wants to take revenge of, which then leads to him calling Shu's father out for his treatment of Shu and asking him to apologize to his son.
  • Revenge: In spite of him serving for the Ujigawa family, he secretly plans to destroy them as a revenge, due to Shu's father being the cause behind the bankruptcy of his biological family's record company.
  • Used to Be a Sweet Kid: "Yume no Ato" event story reveals that he used to be a "kind and pure" child, until he learned the truth behind the downfall of his biological family's company, which then led him to become who he is now.

Its Sound Provokes The World. The Two Sides of the Same Coin, Black and White.

A two-person rock band formed by two adults from Osaka. They consist of Rintaro Yodogawa on Vocal and Ryusuke Tennoji on MC.

    General
  • Older Than They Look: They look pretty young for being adults in their 30s.
  • The Runt at the End: As the sixth band introduced in the franchise, they differ from the rest as they consist of two members as opposed to five members like the other bands.
  • Token Adult: Along with Fantome Iris, they are adults in their 30s as opposed to college or high school students like the rest of the cast.

The vocalist and songwriter of ST//RAYRIDE. He has shown artistic talent since childhood, but because of the environment he grew up in, he lost interest in people until he met his band and felt alive again. After his former band broke up, he reached out to Ryusuke to form ST//RAYRIDE. Good at drawing, he handles the CD jacket designs himself. While he may seem polite and easy to approach, his gaze is cold, secretly only being interested in Ryusuke.

The MC of ST//RAYRIDE. He is a man who is carefree and sometimes has a childish disposition. But his passion and ambition are overflowing, going well with his strong charisma to attract people and his leadership prowess. When he was in middle school, he wanted to do something with music, but wasn't really interested in anything related to instruments. When he felt lost, he was able to meet rap and eventually fell in love with it. When he was in high school, he was a delinquent called "The Dragon of Naniwa". At school, he formed a light music club as well. After the previous band broke up, as he drew away from the music world, he was scouted to ST//RAYRIDE by Rintaro and now continues to work his hardest.

The owner of the cafe Submariner.
  • The Bartender: Granted, he runs a cafe instead of a bar, but he more or less serves this role, serving coffee to the members of Argonavis and giving them advice when they need it.
  • Cool Old Guy: He's on the older side, but that doesn't stop the Argonavis members from going to him for advice. He’s also a great drummer, and used to play in a band in the past.
  • In-Series Nickname: The other characters refer to him as Boss/Master.
  • Team Dad: Serves as a father figure to Argonavis in the anime, particularly Yuto since they knew each other during his middle school days.

    Shintaro Mashu

The manager of GYROAXIA. Later he becomes the representative of the record company D:rednote music, which GYROAXIA and Fantôme Iris are signed with in the second mobile game KimiSute.
  • Big Bad: He's the closest thing to an antagonist in the anime, as he aims to snag Ren out of Argonavis as part of his shady deal.
  • Deal with the Devil: Downplayed, as he's not evil, but morally grey at best due to his profession in the music industry. He tries to pull a shady deal with Ren in order for him to become famous at the expense of being snag out of Argonavis, but Ren refused to do so since he wanted to stay in the band he truly belongs.
  • Demoted to Extra: He has less focus in the manga since much of his role in the anime is given to Iryuu instead.

The vocalist of SYANA, the band Ren was enlightened by at the music festival he went to as a child. He's also the estranged father of Nayuta Asahi.
  • Canon Foreigner: Subverted. He formerly only appears in the manga, but finally appears in the mid-credits of Shooting Star Obligato and later, AXIA. He also makes an appearance and becomes a part of the side cast in the second mobile game KimiSute.
  • Corrupted Character Copy: He's a darker and hostile copy of Yukina Minato's father, both are vocalists and also are fathers of their respective franchise's rival band vocalists. While Yukina's father, who is retired from the music industry, was a decent parent to his daughter and he's proud of her growth as a vocalist of her band, Koga, who is still an active musician, treats his son Nayuta like crap to the point his son swear vengeance upon him.
  • Jerkass: He is not a friendly guy. In manga, his Establishing Character Moment has him outright tell Argonavis to “come back after they’ve started over from scratch.”

    Spoiler Character (MAJOR Unmarked Spoilers

Sakutaro Kaminoshima

https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tumblr_l_27591314247295762.jpg
Fuuta's older brother and Kouhei's childhood best friend, whose Fuuta's saxophone is named after and have a relevant role in Fujin RIZING!'s story. He suffered from an unnamed illness and died several years prior to the main story.
  • Childhood Friends: He was Kouhei's childhood friend aside from everyone in Fujin RIZING (except Yamato).
  • Delicate and Sickly: He had been suffering from an illness since young age to the point of being hospitalized, and it eventually claimed his life years later.
  • The Ghost: Was only mentioned in the beginning by Kouhei, although later on he appeared briefly in one flashback from AAside band story and “Let’s go California” event story, and then he also appeared more in the flashback from "longing -Negatta Mirai-" voice drama, though his face was still never shown. His face is eventually revealed in KimiSute main story chapter 3 part 3.
  • Last Request: During his last moments, he asked Kouhei to take care of Fuuta and protect his "fun".
    "About Fuuta...please protect his 'fun'."
  • Posthumous Character: He died due to an illness several years before the main story, though he still appears in flashback and plays a relevant role in the story.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: As shown in the CG from KimiSute main story chapter 3 part 3, he looks very similar to his younger brother Fuuta, with the only difference being the shape of his ahoge.
  • Unseen No More: His face is finally shown in KimiSute main story chapter 3 part 3 during the childhood flashback scene.
  • Vague Age: Initially it was unclear how old he was, although it's implied that he could be older than Kouhei. KimiSute main story chapter 3 part 3 finally makes his age clear from Misaki's statement of him meeting Sakutaro when he was 3 years old, and Sakutaro was 7 years older than him. Since Kouhei is 2 years older than the rest of the band members, that would make Sakutaro 5 years older than him.
  • Walking Spoiler: His very existence and name alone would spoil much of Fujin RIZING's story along with Fuuta and Kouhei's backstories.
