openQuestions about namespace
I'd like to make a trope page for the Tappytoon comic "Bloody Sweet" by NaRae Lee, as found here, however, I'm unsure what namespace this would go under. Would it be under Manhwa, since it's a comic by a Korean artist? Or should it be under Webcomic, since it was initially only available online? Is either acceptable?
Edited by OctoyaopenHow soon is too soon for spoilers? Live Action TV
Avenue 5 is a show that started airing two days ago, and it features a First-Episode Spoiler. Is it OK that I added it to the trope's example list already? Is there a minimum time to add spoiler to Spoiler Tropes?
openlisting fanfic source work on trope page
On Fan Myopia, one example of bad troping due to fan myopia it gives is:
- Listing the name of a fanfic on a trope's examples list without clarifying what it's a fanfic of.note With the exception of fanfics whose names make it clear; e.g, starting with "Harry Potter and the..." or similar.
Does this include fanfics that have their own works pages? Since the work page presumably lists the source work(s) in the description, should the source work(s) still be noted in any trope page examples?
openUnintentionally Unsympathetic misuse?
YMMV.My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic S 5 E 12 Amending Fences
- Unintentionally Unsympathetic: Moondancer may come across as such to some who perceive that she held Twilight at fault simply for not being or staying friends with her, when they had moved apart. It doesn't help that she expected Twilight to show up to her party, yet never even invited her personally, nor cared that her other friends did attend, making her come off as petty and selfish. There's also the fact that she displays a rather blatant Entitled to Have You attitude towards Twilight as well.
It say she may, red-flag, be seen as unsympathetic to those who see her as unsympathetic, as opposed to why she was supposed to be sympathetic despite this. Other problems:
- If the flashback was to be believed, Moondancer was too busy setting the party up to invite Twilight in person.
- Given Twilight's character and circumstances at the time she would have declined even if Moondancer invited her in person.
- Moondancer's other friended reminding her she still had them was a key part in her getting over it, so that's not unintentional. The point was she was unfairly allowing that one moment to taint her view on friendship.
Moondancer and her episode is one of the more fondly remembered because of this, especially compared to Starlight Glimmer who had a similar backstory. This is the only place I've seen criticism agains her suggests it's a tropers personal opinion as opposed to common enough to be this trope. Thoughts?
I asked Unintentionally Unsympathetic cleanup but haven't heard back. I'm removing it on the 24th per 3-Day Rule unless I hear anything.
Edited by Ferot_Dreadnaughtopen Why the heck is the infamous Porygon video on the bottom of Epileptic Flashing Lights?
I get that it's the most infamous example but this seems like a massive health hazard! At the very least, can we please get a video with some filter over it so there isn't as big a risk of a seizure happening by chance to someone randomly browsing?
Edited by TokoWHopen Is this kosher?
Not too long ago, the image and caption for the main page of Audience-Alienating Premise were changed because it wasn't a very appropiate image (it was based on a macro, and relied heavily on the caption). In the Film subpage, igordebraga put the removed image: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/article_history.php?article=AudienceAlienatingPremise.Film
Is this allowed? Note that all of the issues it had on the main page are now here, with no improvement.
openLiterary references
I ocasionally notice when reading Stephen King novels, and other novels for that matter, he name-drop books and songs from multiple authors. Rose Madder, for example, is named after a song, yet this is not pointed out in the Tv Tropes article.
Rage, likewise, has the protagonist name drop some books, Against Our Will: Men, Women and Rape to put an example.
Shouldn't these be in Shout-Out?
openNote making
Can we use the sandbox function to make notes for something? Let's say, you're planning a fanfic, and you use tropes as a way to organise the setting, characters etc.
open No Title Live Action TV
from what I remember it was basically about with these group of people who had special assignments which to had to touched victims in order to save their soul or something but there are these little creatures that hang out around the people are about to die and those people can see those creatures which gives them the special ability and knowing when someone about to die so there was a scene that took place on a airplane where the special people with abilities we're on a mission or on a task you can say there was a married couple and the special ability people have to touch the husband and a flight attendant which means those two were about to die the husband headed to the bathroom who has a peanut allergy. flight attendance headed to the bathroom as well with peanuts in her mouth then husband and the flight attendants were making out when the husband walks out from the bathroom and collapsed and dies from the peanut allergy the wife noticed that it was the flight attendants fault so she chokes the flight attendants to death.
openWin Back the Crowd example?
This was deleted from Win Back the Crowd:
- The critical and fan response success of The Force Awakens has brought Star Wars back from the national time-out corner following the polarizing reactions to the prequels.
While I understand the edit reason “ The seqeuls to SW became even more polarising than the prequels”, TFA winning them back only for subsequent works to lose them doesn’t disqualify that work from winning them back as it did at the time. Should it be added back or is there something about WBTC I’m missing.
I was also thinking about adding Seinfeld Is Unfunny to TFA since much of it’s good was reception was due to setting up interest that it’s sequels have divisive payoffs. That sounds like the issue here.
And are the sequels more hated then the prequels or is it just prequel hated having died down?
openNo Title
Word of Gay redirects to Word of Straight, but I don't think the trope is ever used that way. Is it? It seems like an unused redirect.
openLil Char and the Gang editor has odd grammar Webcomic
So, there's this editor called Dimderi who made two bad edits. I'll link to them, in chronological order, and explain why they're bad.
1.
This is the only thing on the page. It's bad because of its poor grammar; and it's redundant, because we also what WMG pages are used for.
2.
This is bad because it uses poor grammar, is that "check" thing, and is the very first thing that people see when they look at the work page.
They may have made only 2 edits a week ago, on the same day, but should I delete the edits and PM Dimderi?

openROCEJ Redirect
Why does Rule of Cautious Editing Judgement have a redirect titled Rule of Cautious Editing Judgement? They both have the exact same name (although the redirect has the "of" capitalized), which makes it weird when Wiki Wording it, as it would point to either the main page or its redirect.

In the YMMV sheets, I've seen entries several times entries like this one in The Divine Comedy:

Hi all, I'd like to create a new useful note for the Monegasque Royal Family, what with them being pretty much second only to the British Royal Family (who have their own entry) in terms of notability and interest. I'm well-versed on the subject, and could make the page interesting/fun/insightful How do I go about that, please?
