Have a question about how the TVTropes wiki works? No one knows this community better than the people in it, so ask away! Ask the Tropers is the page you come to when you have a question burning in your brain and the support pages didn't help.
It's not for everything, though. For a list of all the resources for your questions, click here. You can also go to this Directory thread

Those quote pages scream Johnnyfog to me; Burgerants was more interested in complaining on Sequelitis pages and then defending themselves very stubbornly. note That said, they do edit a lot of YMMV and Video Game pages too, so I can see it going either way, but I think Johnnyfog is the more likely candidate here for the sheer amount of quote changes.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessWasn't Johnnyfog's M.O. mostly wrestling pages, though?
Edit: Ah, it was quotes and wrestling pages.

Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessModerator discussion on the matter concluded that we don't have enough evidence.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman^So your just going to let them get away scot-free?
"Unite GUN/BAZOOKA/LAUNCHER/TANK!"While no confirmation they are ban evaders, if they have edited incorrectly then is a revert not permitted ?
If those edits are bad, then sure, revert. But I think we should assume "innocent until proven guilty" here if there's no conclusive evidence. Besides, I think their main thing used to be edits to character pages related to Final Fantasy which I don't really see being copied (but now it's more quote pages than that for some reason).
Edited by Piterpicher Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods Of Incremental)The fact that they're adding a lot of quotes by overall-Caustic Critics to quote pages for non-YMMV tropes SCREAMS johnnyfog to me. As in, I'd bet actual cash money on it.
Should we bring them over here?
"Unite GUN/BAZOOKA/LAUNCHER/TANK!"^ x 5 @Spidey: "^So your just going to let them get away scot-free?"
Your post above was very rude.
You might want to apologize for it.
Edited by ArivnePlaced them on watch. Need to make sure we have a clear match. If they make any further johnnyfog-y edits, let us know.
As for geolocation, the IP's are close, but also from an area where we may risk a high chance of a false positive.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportYeah, if the mods, who have access to things like IP checks, can't conclusively say somebody is a ban evader, who are we to insist they're wrong and that the person must be a ban evader?
Ban evading is a serious offense resulting in a permanent ban with no ability to appeal. Pushing for somebody to be suspended is frowned upon to begin with (it's basically mini-modding), but we have to tread especially lightly here.
Edited by mightymewtron I do some cleanup and then I enjoy shows you probably think are cringe.^ Yeah patience is needed by everyone. Ban evaders eventually will give themselves away, so no need to rush things. Just keep an eye on the edits and if a match happens in the future, the mods will handle it or somebody will alert them to it.
This query could probably be locked to deter popcorn commentary as a new query can be made in case a future report is needed on the matter.
Independent of the above, their edits on the FFV character page get very Walkthrough Mode. I tried to edit down some of it, but they went tut-tut and put it back, and I didn't feel like making it a thing at the time. But that's also an issue.
They also edited the quotes page for replacement scrappy, just as one of johnnyfog's socks did, along with johnny himself.
Edit: They also edited a bunch of quotes pages and the WCW page.
Addendum: Should they be adding real life quotes to Quotes.Sleazy Politician? That seems treyf to me. I sent them a message reminding them of ROCEJ.
Edited by SkyCat32 Rawr.^Since the mods often miss longer queries, you probably should have made a new query instead of bumping this one, with a link to this one in the new one.
Patiently awaiting the release of Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass. The ROCEJ thread told me to delete the RL quotes, so taylor's actions on that page are a moot point now, aside from the possibility that they are not who they say they are.
I made a private ATT.
Edited by SkyCat32 Rawr.Should I unprivatize my ATT? They still seem to be adding RL examples to NRLEP tropes.
Edited by SkyCat32 Rawr.I mean... Do whatever you want. Did anyone respond to it?
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessMy two sense are yes you should unprivate it. The person is a probably a ban-evader so it's notable for the site.
You can only write so much in your forum signature. It's not fair that I want to write a piece of writing yet it will cut me off in the midUh.. That link just leads to ATT.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessJust a quick heads up that the cat in question is suspended now.
Curious, but how were they able to determine that beyond a doubt?
^ Let's not give Johnny any more ammo. Could this query be locked as resolved?
^^The moderation team have ways of finding that kind of stuff out, and let's just leave it at that.
Aye, this ain't the kind of information we'll share. I see there is another ATT about cleaning up taylorswiftcat's edits so I'll close this one.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman
I've noticed some odd editing patterns with taylorswiftscat.
A lot of their edits seems to consist of them unilaterally making large changes (re-organising examples, adding and removing examples) to various quote page without leaving edit reasons or checking with the quote discussion thread.
This behaviour is reminiscent of two ban-evaders I've previously seen; Johnnyfog, and Worldbeater who was recently caught ban-evading as Burgerants.
And looking through their edits to non quote-page pages, they appear to editing the same type of pages that said tropers had previously edited.
So is there any possibility of an IP Check, just in case.
