The TVTropes Trope Finder is where you can come to ask questions like "Do we have this one?" and "What's the trope about...?" Trying to rediscover a long lost show or other medium but need a little help? Head to Media Finder and try your luck there. Want to propose a new trope? You should be over at You Know, That Thing Where.
Supernatural Repellent? Could also be a case of Beat the Curse Out of Him, a Banishing Ritual, or, narrowing it down even further, a Hollywood Exorcism. If the possessing spirit can then jump into someone else, that might lead to a Villain-Possessed Bystander.
Edited by UnsungCan be Horrifying the Horror on occasion.
You're at the overlap of Psychic Static and Fighting from the Inside when the possessor bails after the 30th hour of "I Know A Song..." or day 3 of a ted talk on why the Star Wars prequels don't get enough respect
Edited by Scorpion451^^ Yeah, I guess so. Like: Alice gets the evil spirit out of Bob by hugging/kissing him because The Power of Love or just the fact that that spirit was weak to love.
If there's a book you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. Toni Morrison^OP example sounds like Screw This, I'm Outta Here
I wouldn't mind failure so much, if I didn't fail so much. Can be accomplished via a Banishing Ritual or Beat the Curse Out of Him.
Edited by eroock^^^ I'd probably list that under The Power of Love, but yeah, love can definitely count as Supernatural Repellent or be a requirement for said banishment ritual. See Love Redeems, Evil Cannot Comprehend Good, or Care-Bear Stare or Heart Beatdown if it's especially literal.
Edited by UnsungToo Spicy for Yog-Sothoth if it's something about the host that makes it unpalatable to possess.
Is there a trope for when a curse or a spirit/ghost just exits the body it was possesing because of some external reason?
