openFailure hero and Batwoman Question Live Action TV
I've recently tried to add the following trope to Batwoman:
- Failure Hero: Batwoman is actually fairly terrible at being a superhero. Her only real unqualified success was against Magpie.
- Jacob technically took down the Executioner.
- Alice took down Tommy Eliot.
- A scientist Kate was trying to save dies because she and Julia Pennyworth were fighting over who had the right to take down an assassin instead of protecting the man.
- Kate almost kills a prisoner because she had tortured him to the point that his wounds went septic and he could have died from an infection.
- A lot of this could be excused as Kate being a rookie hero still learning the ropes, but her major failure is with Alice. Kate has multiple moments where she has Alice captured, could easily capture her, had a method to track her and capture her, but willingly let her go or didn't go after her. Alice not only has killed multiple people at the point Kate lets her go, but Alice is personally responsible for multiple deaths after Kate refuses to stop her. With Batman, there's a question as to whether he has any responsibility for the deaths his villains cause because he turns them over to the police instead of killing them, just giving them the opportunity to escape and kill again. With Kate, there's absolutely no question that she is responsible for the deaths Alice causes because Kate willing let Alice go or refused to track her down.
I feel this fits well within the use of Failure Hero, as the comic section specifically lists superheroes as having a problem with this in general, and lists heroes such as Spider-Man, Daredevil and Batman who suffer failures in their careers. Batman's entry even specifically brings up the point about the Joker escaping to kill again despite Batman going out of his way to recapture him.
With Batwoman, all of this applies and more. Before the Crisis crossover event, she had managed to capture a single supervillain out of multiple episodes, and chooses to let Alice go or not act on information to capture her, with it being acknowledge that Batwoman has had multiple opportunities to do so. And while Kate willing let Alice go, more people died.
Between a lack of success in general and meeting the same criteria that is applied to several other heroes, I feel this trope applies.
Yet one troper has deleted my attempts to insert this twice. Once when I erroneously put it on the YMMV page, which I acknowledge as a mistake. The second time it was deleted after it was put on the main page, which is where it would belong. It was deleted the second time for "Misuse of the Failure Hero Trope".
I feel the edit I wished to make was well within the scope of the Failure Hero trope. I'd be interested in knowing what everyone else thinks and if there's anyone I can bring this to.
openQuestion about Specluative Troping
I noticed Silverblade 2 blanked out a few pages (he hid all tropes behind comments) on grounds that they were about soon-to-be-released media, but I thought we were allowed to trope trailers and the like?
openNo Title
Should examples involving the original Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) design be removed? The design was scrapped and thus falls under What Could Have Been. What Could Have Been examples aren't allowed.
openSlow-Burning Edit War
Michael Sar added an Unintentionally Unsympathetic entry on YMMV.Muppets Most Wanted in 2019, which was removed after discussion from the Removing Complaining forum thread. Now he's just readded it with some wording changes.

openMythology Gag
I want to make a Mythology Gag for a fanfic page I'm working on, but when I try to press the create new, it doesn't seem available to me. How can I get that?
openSplitting a page? Film
As of right now, the Film page for the Mohs Scale of Violence Hardness (Mohs Scale Of Violence Hardness/Film) has a message saying that it's too long when going in to edit it. I think it may need to be split, similar to the way that the Mohs Scale Of Rock And Metal Hardness is (for example, a page for levels 0-5 and one for levels 6-10). The page contains some entries without notes that I would like to add notes for, to give some context (as well as adding new entries). So, what I'm trying to say is, how is a page split?
Edit: trying to fix the link to the Film/Mohs Scale of Violence Hardness page
Edited by TheHestinatoropen Fashion show. Do we have this trope?
I searched and I don't see it, but it would be rare because this is a super common trope.
The character changes clothes several times, usually in front of the mirror, usually until they find the "perfect" fit. Happens in: - You belong with me by Taylor Swift - Toy Story 3 (Ken) ... and a gazillion other series.
If this doesn't exist... it should be created!!
openArrowverse openings Live Action TV
Recent events suggest to me that I use this tool for questions, so here it is. The current Arrowverse shows have no opening narrations whatsover. What's wrong with removing them to update the pages accordingly?
openAutoplaying Video Examples
Video Examples have started autoplaying (without sound) when you scroll down to the bottom of the page.
Is that supposed to happen?
open No Title
This show I'm looking for was mainly for kids/teens, but not a cartoon the actors were real. It's about a girl who's around 15/16 years old, red/orange kinda hair, and she gets this box that has small wooden animals inside and those animals could come alive and they used to call her the chosen one and she was supposed to save the world and the show involved some magic and all ... Any thoughts or suggestions plz ?? That's all what I could remember, and my researches led me to nowhere!
openJoke headscratchers
I notice on Headscratchers, people will sometimes ask a question that someone asked in the work as a joke.
It can be seen on Headscratchers.Sponge Bob Squarepants and Headscratchers.Lazy Town.
Is it allowed?
openTroping for mods?
I'm pretty sure I know the answer already, but this entry got added on YMMV.Rimworld
- Broken Base: Combat Extended, like any particularly prominent major overhaul mod, naturally starts dividing people. One of the big debates is naturally between people that like the more tactical and lethal combat it offers, with others just disliking how it can be cheesed and how people are too frail at times, turning regular battles into rocket tag. But the big divider is that Combat Extended is made in such an expansive way that it is utterly, catastrophically incompatible with about 90% of all mods out there, and even after the creator tried to adjust for this, there's just too much out there to cover. Naturally, this leaves a lot of modders bitter that the people that use Combat Extended pressure them into trying to make their mod compatible with one they might not even like, and is apparently somewhat of a nightmare to plan around code-wise.
While it is a proper use of the trope, I don't feel like it belongs on the work's own page because it's a 3rd party add-on.

open TV show scene Live Action TV
A spoiler to show I don't remeber a thing, but this scene. I only remember a scene that not really related to what actually happened in the show. There was a group of young people, don't know if high school or college had a secret I don't remember if it was superpowers or something else. one of them is gay and been with alot of guys. For the sake of their mission(needed to hack to sites for I don't remember) he sleep with a computer geek only later to find out he really love him. The computer geek guy slept with another guy and got hiv from it. in the end the two are togther dealing with it, but that's really not the main plot of the show. I can only remember this.
Someone knows maybe? I remember how they look like, but don't know if it any help.
I notice this was deleted for the reason ‘since we cut So Bad It’s Horrible, we need to cut all the subpages too’, but So Bad It’s Horrible is still here? Was it cut at one point and then brought back? Because if so, that should be brought back too.
