Probably yes, though in my case it was a foregin language class. Did help that I was almost always the best of the class at it. Having relatives whos first language is english gives you easy experiance.

While I do tend to prefer stuff like comics and manga, if I actually read a propper novel I do prefer to be able to imagine everything for myself. So in that case it would be a no.
TNP has been GM for a role-playing game before.
I don't have a single favorite work, but I do know the feeling of becoming obsessed with something to the point where I'll memorize every little detail about it.
