During the investigation of recent hollers in the Complete Monster thread, it's become apparent to the staff that an insular, unfriendly culture has evolved in the Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard threads that is causing problems.
Specific issues include:
- Overzealous hollers on tropers who come into the threads without being familiar with all the rules and traditions of the tropes. And when they are familiar with said rules and traditions, they get accused (with little evidence) of being ban evaders.
- A few tropers in the thread habitually engage in snotty, impolite mini-modding. There are also regular complaints about excessive, offtopic "socializing" posts.
- Many many thread regulars barely post/edit anywhere else, making the threads look like they are divorced from the rest of TV Tropes.
- Following that, there are often complaints about the threads and their regulars violating wiki rules, such as on indexing, crosswicking, example context and example categorization. Some folks are working on resolving the issues, but...
- Often moderator action against thread regulars leads to a lot of participants suddenly showing up in the moderation threads to protest and speak on their behalf, like a clique.
It is not a super high level problem, but it has been going on for years and we cannot ignore it any longer. There will be a thread in Wiki Talk to discuss the problem; in the meantime there is a moratorium on further Complete Monster and Magnificent Bastard example discussion until we have gotten this sorted out.
Update: The new threads have been made and can be found here:
Please see the Frequently Asked Questions and Common Requests List before suggesting any new entries for this trope.
IMPORTANT: To avoid a holler to the mods, please see here for the earliest date a work can be discussed, (usually two weeks from the US release), as well as who's reserved discussion.
When voting, you must specify the candidate(s). No blanket votes (i.e. " to everyone I missed").
No plagiarism: It's fair to source things, but an effortpost must be your own work and not lifted wholesale from another source.
We don't care what other sites think about a character being a Complete Monster. We judge this trope by our own criteria. Repeatedly attempting to bring up other sites will earn a suspension.
What is the Work
Here you briefly describe the work in question and explain any important setting details. Don't assume that everyone is familiar with the work in question.
Who is the Candidate and What have they Done?
This will be the main portion of the Effort Post. Here you list all of the crimes committed by the candidate. For candidates with longer rap sheets, keep the list to their most important and heinous crimes, we don't need to hear about every time they decide to do something minor or petty.
Do they have any Mitigating Factors or Freudian Excuse?
Here you discuss any potential redeeming or sympathetic features the character has, the character's Freudian Excuse if they have one, as well as any other potential mitigating factors like Offscreen Villainy or questions of moral agency. Try to present these as objectively as possible by presenting any evidence that may support or refute the mitigating factors.
Do they meet the Heinousness Standard?
Here you compare the actions of the Candidate to other character actions in the story in order to determine if they stand out or not. Remember that all characters, not just other villains, contribute to the Heinousness Standard
Final Verdict?
Simply state whether or not you think the character counts or not.

I agree. Frakes.
Welcome to the world of greatest media!Wasn't he establishing a pattern, though? That was what he was evaluated on.

If it's any consolation, in this version, Whis states that rewinding time uses up a lot of energy, and after using it once, he cannot use it again until some time has passed and he has recovered his energy. Because of this and the fact that he can only go back three minutes, it is specified that if Goku screwed up this second chance that Whis was giving him... Well, then Frieza really would have won.
jjjNo more of a pattern than Barkis Bittern, who unlike Frakes actually did kill someone. Tbh, I wouldn't call such a standard action of trying to kill the heroes as proof of being enough of a pattern to count.

BTW, if Judge Cal DOES count, it might not be a bad idea to give Dredd its own subpage, as that'll be 4 comic examples and the 2 film ones.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsWho will replace Judge Death as the poster image, then?
Why so serious?Given that comic books are a visual media, it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement.
I'm honestly neutral on Frakes at this point; I brought him up ages ago on the behest on someone else, and it really seems what made him was the implications. If the implications aren't strong enough? Cut. If they are? I'm not really leaning to one side or the other.

Why do we keep with the subpage stuff? Seriously, you know how most people fall on that. It's not helpful.
I'm just saying. And yeah, shouldn't be too hard to find a new image IF WE NEED TO.
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM DraftsI know it's only been like 13 hours, but seriously, there are already four votes to 0 votes, and A New Man took the words right out of my mouth when he said that at this point, we all know what Frieza is. So, hee is a rough draft write up:
- Resurrection F Arc: Frieza is even ''more'' of a monster in this re telling of Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F'. After Tagoma suggests that Frieza forget about the Saiyans, Frieza critically injures him and forcefully makes him his "sparring partner" for his training, torturing Tagoma to the brink of death every day for the next four months. After reaching Earth, Frieza tells his men that whoever kills Krillin will get their own planet, knowing how much Krillin means to Goku. Frieza tortures Gohan by shooting him with energy beams, and is highly amused when Piccolo gets in the way of the blasts to save Gohan. When Frieza hears that Gohan has a family, he promises to kill them too, and orders Ginyu to kill Goten and Trunks. When Goku arrives, Frieza states that after he destroys Earth, he will destroy New Namek as well so there is no way to undo his evil acts. Before fighting Goku, Frieza kills all his minions just to demonstrate his power. Frieza fires blasts at Goku's friends just to distract him. Just like in the movie, he tries to destroy Earth when he finds himself cornered.

jjjWe went over Cal before—he's far too bonkers to qualify. The man talks to fish, imagines past Chief Judges tormenting him, and actually thinks the law of gravity is his to control.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"he also seems to genuinely like his alien mercenaries.
That image of the Plutonian doesn't work. That's when Tony was more of a hero beating up his nemesis Ma Damage
Oh, I just assumed that was some random guy he was killing.
Why so serious? Now, here's one◊ of the Plutonian that seems like it may count.
bobg, please add Super!Frieza here.

CM Dates; CM Pending; CM Drafts@Scraggle, they say that Frakes has exploited others for money and then threw them to the sharks once they are done with them but it never goes beyond simple statements of such. We never even see any bones in their boat to at least somewhat move out offscreen villainy. So yeah I vote for Frakes which makes it 2-3 counting the votes from the last discussion.

I explicitly remember at least five people voting up Frakes. Probably six. If one of those was mine, you can essentially retract it because I have no lean one way or the other now.

I just checked their were 5 votes including yours making it 4-3.
Anyone else have any thoughts on Frakes?
to Kwong. Abstaining on Malik and Hobie.
I think I remember Hobie, and not being sure. I'm still not sure. Look at the other 5:
- A petty Serial Killer.
- A petty duo (who themselves only count because of their threatening a child).
- A Domestic Abuser who threatens to Groin Attack his own 5-year-old-daughtr.
- Serial pedophiles who have killed dozens of kids.
- A Snuff Film director responsible for at least a couple hundred CruelAndUnusualDeaths.
I think we should add to Master Xenanort's writeup that he (and by extension all his incarnations except ASOD) are fond of the Wounded Gazelle Gambit which makes him even more vile given that he tricks people (like Terra) into feeling pity for him and then snags their hearts with no remorse, similar to Dahlia Hawthorne.
What do you guys think?
I think we should wait for KHIII before we do anything with Master X. It's the end of his arc and some of the press release stuff has actually vaguely hinted at a sympathetic motive for him.
How the hell is the 11th game just KH 3?
CM Dates; CM Pending; CM Drafts
Not to open up a can of spilled beans or anything but I just finished watching Jumping Ships and I have some concerns on whether or not Frakes is really heinous enough. Sure he's implied to be a Serial Killer but he has no confirmed body-count, we never even see him kill anyone or any skeletons or whatnot. The only other thing he does is the standard "trying to kill the heroes". Sure one of the heroes is a child but trying to kill the Kid Hero is certainly not unheard of in Disney.
I also looked at the discussions on him, only about two people voted. I don't know he doesn't strike me as a strong candidate, I think we might need to revote.
