Not Thriving: Flavor Equipment

Definition: bottom-of-the-line equipment for low-level NPC/dungeon flavor. Seven examples and six wicks — can it be saved?

Anyway, I'm not sure what distinguishes this from other tropes about weak equipment, aside from the fact that it's apparently exclusive to NPCs instead of player characters, which seems like an arbitrary distinction to me, at least due to the lack of wicks, plus the "Flavor" part (i.e., the fact that it's used solely by NPCs and not the player) might make it redundant with Garnishing the Story as well. Since the page has only 259 inbounds despite being a decade old, I think it would be safe to cut it, possibly Yarding anything salvageable if anyone finds anything (though that's a free action anyway).

Actually, I meant inbounds, not wicks. I used the wrong word because I kept revising that post (I originally just paged Tabs without saying anything else, then thought of more text later).

Having played a lot of dungeon-crawling RPGs, it's mildly noteworthy when a game bothers to give actual weapon and armor items to mobs even when they're statted as having them (Owlcat's two Pathfinder adaptations are the only ones I know of that do this consistently). That said, this may be redundant to Shop Fodder.

Okay, so in Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous it would actually be Better Off Sold: you can use it as a PC but the Player Party generally has access to much better gear after not too long (that and there's just so much of it).

If the NPC-only aspect means players can't do anything with it other than sell it (since they can't equip it themselves), then yeah, it does seem like it fits Shop Fodder instead of Better Off Sold.

Edit: I apparently didn't consider this when Vendor Trash was split between Shop Fodder and Better Off Sold, since an edit I made to Flavor Equipment's description last year changed the Vendor Trash wick to Better Off Sold instead of Shop Fodder because I presumably overlooked the part of the description saying it's NPC-exclusive.

Shop Fodder is for items that have no functional purpose besides cash exchange. Better Off Sold is for items that can be used, but nobody would. Maybe it can be disambiguated between those and Starter Equipment.

For a second assumed it's "NPC-exlcusive gear", but reading the description it's just under-leveled loot.

Eh... I'd still prefer cutting over disambiguating because of how low the inbound count is relative to the page's age. I previously used this reasoning for favoring cutting Suetiful All Along instead of redirecting it to Anti-Sue, and that page had almost ten times as many inbounds as this one.
