Unclear Description: The Amazon

Are we going to write a Trope Epitaph? Because my suggestion is a very concise one:

• Here lies The Amazon: Deforested.

OK that's kind of funny (and a little fucked up.) on that epitaph.

Dark but all the same.

We should wait for the useful notes page to be ready first, right?

I mean, this is all still jumping the gun, don't we need to wait for tomorrow or are we going by the same rule that closed (some other thread) early?

We can temporary push the contents of The Amazon to Sandbox.Amazon Rainforest to draft UsefulNotes.Amazon Rainforest, since it would require a rewrite, but for any big actions I don't think the disambig suggestion got that much attention to bypass Three-Day Rule

Just thought I'd mention that I'll probably bump the crowner on Monday since the rename option, while unanimously in favor, doesn't have enough votes. That'll be the last day before I call it unless I decide to hold off on calling it further down the line, though the fact that the options are either unanimous or close to it makes me think there won't be a need to delay calling the crowner.

Edit: Oh, and moving to Useful Notes is unanimous at 12 yeas and no nays, and renaming has 9 yeas and no nays.

Moving to Useful Notes has one more yea. Renaming is stalled at 9 yeas, so it still doesn't have enough consensus, though I bumped the ATT query with a note asking people to vote on it.

If we are going to make an useful notes page, I think we should probably write it from scratch, since the description of the trope don't say much about the forest itself beyond some inaccuracies it faces in media.

Well, the page will be a disambiguation regardless so I don't need UsefulNotes.The Amazon to close the thread after wick cleaning is done. There isn't a guarantee that there will be someone that's willing to write the page from scratch.

Useful Notes pages indeed require some extra care since they are supposed to be reliable factual information, is there a guideline giving suggestions on how to make one?

Well, here's the mission of the Useful Notes category, as stated on the main Useful Notes index itself:

Don't quite see any other way to call it.

I added the company Amazon to the disambiguation draft too, since, even if it didn't fall in the misuse in the wick check, it also shares the name, so it might be useful.

I feel there's no need for "The" once the page is called Amazon rainforest. It's redundant and doesn't clarify like "The Amazon" once did.

Compare Republic of the Congo instead of The Republic Of The Congo, Arab World instead of The Arab World, War of the Pacific instead of The War Of The Pacific

......But The Caribbean instead of Caribbean, The Channel Islands instead of Channel Islands, The Falkland Islands instead of Falkland Islands...

I suppose it can be moved in its current state (with any "actually not Amazon, just a rainforest examples" cut) to UN and future editors can improve the description as they wish.

I moved the page and disambiguated the old name, and cut entries that either lacked context or weren't about the Amazon (such as ones set in Africa or Asia instead of South America), with the exception of one example that was about a Fantasy Counterpart Culture.

Anyway, I noted the rename in the Renamed Tropes thread and page and posted a notice on the old discussion page.

Alright, I'll see if I will have time to turn the page into a more proper useful notes, with more specific information about the Amazon, the countries it encompasses, its importance to the world, its geographical and ecologic description and stereotypes and tropes it receives across media. Until then I think it's better if we don't crosswick UsefulNotes.The Amazon Rainforest, right?
