Ukraine War Cleanup

As mentioned in this ATT Thread, the Ukraine War is starting to influence tropers into trying to shoehorn premature analysis of the conflict onto various pages, which resulted in Russians with Rusting Rockets and Ukrainians with Depleted Uranium getting locked. Other pages like Vladimir Putin, The New Russia, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Ukraine will need to be watched as well.

So this cleanup is dedicated to, well, cleaning up entries that reference the Ukraine War because they're starting to be shoehorned into work pages now, so there's potential Rule of Cautious Editing Judgment violations.

To give an example, here's what I found on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s description:

I don't think that Stalker one is a big deal mostly because it's related to the work and is a specific event, not just "the war exists and we're gonna die".

I've removed that. It's a clear shoehorn, as the trope is for military officers, not politicians.

Axe the entire example. Not only was this was written starting in 2011, when border tensions between the two countries were already starting to get heated, the focus of the work is a civil war between Ukrainians that Russians happen to join, so it doesn't even have the similarities that would warrant Harsher in Hindsight.

Cut. As I said before, the conflict is ongoing, and ongoing events cannot apply for hindsight (to prevent shoehorns done in the heat of the moment).

Just posting to say that a bunch of Useful Notes pages (don't feel like listing them all right now but there were about 40 pages that were locked) regarding Russia and Ukraine have been locked and cleaned of any edits regarding the Russo-Ukraine War. Certain pages like NATO have been preemptively locked because they contained Ukraine war related edits.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been temporarily cut and locked because we didn't see a need to have that page at this time.

May want to add those pages on Administrivia.Locked Pages to keep on record until the conflict loses steam (no, I don't think it'll be a Forever War, very unlikely).

I handled most of the locks and there were a lot of pages to lock because we have a lot of Useful Notes pages about Russia for some reason, even though less is more and this is a website about fiction.

I haven't checked if Locked Pages has been updated because I was out of town for a decent portion of the day.

That's the wrong page. It was UsefulNotes.Volodymyr Zelenskyy and there wasn't enough content on the page about his media portrayals or his work as an actor. The page was made on Feb 28th and was mostly about his role in politics and currents events.

Anyways, I'll update Administrivia.Locked Pages now.

No reason to. If a page can be created that focuses on his acting career, there's no reason why we couldn't just lock that and let it chill.

And no, this specific case of cutting and locking isn't meant to be permanent. They were locked because we've been having problems with editors using the wiki to record information on current events even though it's supposed to be about fiction, and because they were focused more on Zelenskyy's political career than his acting career.

I edited my post since you posted, providing further information on why this isn't a case of PRLC'ing the page, and is just a regular case of locking after a cut. PRLC implies we never want the page to come back, but there might be a legitimate reason to have the page further down the line.

We're still good to cut Hindsight entries regarding the conflict, yeah? I just found this on YMMV.Cooking Companions (spoilering mine, since it contains spoilers for the game).
